Alexandra Hotel in East Riding of Yorkshire

Nice clean, comfortable room but as it was quite cold at night would have liked some heating. Shower okay but tricky to get right setting . Difficult to dry towels after shower because of lack of heating. Also no breakfast available. Okay for a couple of nights.

My Wife and I stayed for one night 01/05/2024 in a double room at the Alexandra. We booked a week earlier Room Only by telephone without having to pay until we arrived, which was appreciated has we did not have means to make any payment at the time of the booking. The Hotel is situated in the centre of Withensea close to the beach and all your need is close at hand, Pubs, Food shops etc. Upon arrival the staff were very helpful and showed us to our room, Once settled we went down to reception area in the bar to pay for the room. The room we occupied was self contained very well presented with towels , fresh bedding and tea coffe facilities and very clean. It was our first stay here and we will return again and can recommend it to any couple or single party looking for reasonable priced accommodation in Withernsea, we was informed future plans they are hoping to include a breakfast . Thanks to all at the Alexandra Withernsea a very enjoyable stay.

They now have stopped doing food and seem to be under new management. Called in for a drink. 2 people in the bar. G&T not got what i wanted or what my husband wanted settled for what they had, No ice or lemon and no tonic in fridge had to go to cellar for some!!!!!! Will i go again NEVER terrible.

Great pub, great staff. Food is excellent. Massive portions at a great price! Come here for food at least twice when on a 2 week holiday in Withernsea Can’t fault it one bit!

Just came back from a few days away at this lovely little gem ! Rooms spotless and well equipped with everything needed for a relaxing break ! The food is absolutely so tasty and plentiful, staff so polite and friendly, well done all, highly recommend.

From the outside this hotel doesn't inspire, but don't be put off. We turned up to eat at around 7.30 without any booking, not realising the kitchen closed around 8pm, so we weren't sure we would be able to eat. However the staff were very helpful, and were happy to make sure we were fed. I chose to have hunters chicken, my wife saw someone having a chicken sizzler brought to their table and immediately wanted one, and my teenage son plumped for the ultimate burger. All three meals were delicious and had very good portion sizes. The chicken in the hunters chicken was well cooked and not dry at all, the sauce was tasty and the bacon was very well cooked too. My wife said the sizzler was very tasty, the chicken was again very well cooked and the sauce (she chose hot and spicy) was delicious. My son just said the burger was one of the best he had ever had, and that the cheese, melting inside the patty, was really good. The ladies that served us (regrettably I didn't get their names) were really good natured, and happy to help. The place is a pub with 'restaurant' room, although you can eat in the bar, as we did. Also the price (3 meals and 3 drinks for less that £40) was really good too. In fact it was so good we ate there again the next night when again the food and the welcome was great.

Booked in advance, popped in earlier in day to see if dogs are allowed but ignored by staff. Persevered with my booking as menu looked good online. Staff again rude so was totally put off. I’m sure food is good but manners also make up an experience. Wouldn’t recommend.

Needed food for the family and popped in on the off chance......hit the jackpot. Every meal was excellent and the portion sizes gave the best value for money we've had in a long time. The fish was unbelievably big but also tasted very good. Staff were superb and even the chef can out for a chat..... customer service and value for money in a nutshell. Highly recommended.

Food was delicious, staff were lovely, great value for money and bonus dog friendly. Will definitely visit again.

Called and ordered a meal we were offered the Restaurant or the bar area we decided on the bar, the food came spot on great staff so no problems until a number of locals entered and that where the afternoon went downhill, they were having a good time they were loud which I don't have an issue with but the language left a lot to be desired I am a man of the world but there is a time and place for everything along with others on other tables who must have felt the same as we did we all drank up and left, so the tip is when you go there for some food, take the option of the restaurant

Good food my eyes bigger than my belly we'll worth the money beer is good to and the prices are not expensive

People who write negative reviews should really know what there talking about me and my partner and my daughter ate there last nite we had the garlic mushrooms obviously with the sauce the crouton is going to be soggy but still really nice for mains I had gammon which included the homemade chips which are homemade chips my partner had lasagne and my daughter homemade chicken nuggets the mistake we made was to have a starter because the main course is massive and mean massive sadly there was no room for pudding gutted !! Because the selection was amazing this was our first visit but definitely will be back the manager came over and we had a chat about football he supporters Liverpool me Manchester United be very interesting today but anyone visiting withersea this place is a must great value for money great range of drinks service amazing definitely book to avoid being disappointed Hopefully seen you next time we visit thanks for a lovely evening

Had the Madras curry and was spot on best I've ever had would recommend it huge portion couldn't eat it all ,will definitely be having again and speedy service even tho they was busy

Garlic mushrooms were sat on a soggy croutons, chips definitely not homemade, I'm sure they were frozen roast potatoes deep fried. They were like sponges oozing with grease. Sirloin steak was mostly gristle, the onion rings were raw inside and one had a big clump of flour in it. The peas were tinned and WHY would I have a pineapple fritter which was also greasy and slimy, far too much on the plate, I couldn't get to any thing.....never again!

If you want to eat the pie , don't have any breakfast , I licked the plate .chicken and ham or steak and ale are so delicious chips that you can use to build a house with , they are so big and yet they are perfectly prepared .

Just had a short break in Withernsea and as in the past we have used The Alexandra Hotel for most of our eaten out meals which we have always found to be very good value , well cooked and served promptly . The pub itself is dog friendly , shows sky sports and serves a good range of well kept beers and lagers , a very special mention to Karen who runs the pub and is sometimes assisted by Colin behind the bar....all in all a very friendly pub where everyone feels comfortable ......many thanks to all staff ...MOT...

Choice of 3 vegetarian main meals. Freshly prepared, so had to wait a little while but well worth the wait. Will definitely go again.

My wife and myself, also family and friends have visited this hotel for drinks and food many times pre Covid and post Covid, none of us have ever been disappointed. The food is excellent, well presented and served, cooked to perfection and must not forget...

Was left waiting over an hour for food whilst everyone around us was getting theres Lady who took order struggled with her tablet On third time of asking was told another 20 mins and that they cooked in order of order being placed but next...

Had many good meals out over my 51 years but this will go down as the greatest meal out ever, a really large portion of home cooked food and cooked to perfection, hand cut chips home made onion rings, steak cooked perfect “rare” but not...

Having moved to the area a year ago this was our first Sunday carvery here. The food was just spot on, a nice atmosphere, and attentive staff. Really enjoyable, and for sure we will be returning!

Usually spot on but not tday must be a different chef had steak which was spot on but didn't get any mushrooms, chips horrible like under cooked roast potatoes and well did me gluten free onion rings absolutely horrible

On a weeks holiday in Withernsea and visited to eat and watch man Utd, food was really nice and great staff and they had they’re work cut out as there was 20 of us.

Me and my partner are currently staying at Fairview Luxury Lodges and found this place whilst having a walk around the town to find somewhere to have a quick bite to eat and to get out of the cold. I had the crispy chicken wings...

Greatings all. Second visit, just the 2 of us. We both had the 10oz rump. Cooked to perfection 😁. 1 medium rare, 1 rare. Suculant, Tender and Full of Flavour. Onion rings, perfect, side salad well balanced, crisp & refreshing plus chips to die for....

Had lunch at this hotel and cleared my plate, chips cooked how I like them. My partner enjoyed her lunch as well and felt all was value for money.

Had time out in Withernsea so popped in for lunch. We were not let down and well done chef, very friendly staff.

Fab food and fab price. Been here a couple of times now and chef cooks steaks perfectly - meeting all of our groups very different preferences from blue to cremated. We will definitely be going back again.

Having just been informed I’m the first to sample the new addition to the menu of home-made fish pie, as one who has stayed in many 4/5* hotels in the past, Rob the chef has surpassed himself with this offering. The balance of salmon, locally caught haddock and white fish was spot on. I will certainly have more of this on my return. Feel free to beat a path to also sample this culinary dish. Rating? 10/10.

We went here early for a meal and were not disappointed at all. We had Mex Natchez and garlic mushrooms for starters and can I say we have just come back from Mexico and these machines were far better.The mains came and should have come with a ladder as there were loads.I ordered the mixed grill and the meats were cooked to perfection. The steak was medium rare throughout which most places can’t do. It also must have been rested as no runny red liquid on the plate.Wife had scampi and chips and again the scampi was cooked to perfection, nice and crispy. The chips on both plates are very nice too and must be home made. Not soggy at all. This place should be packed for a Friday night. Will I be back? Defiantly in fact all ready booked .

The Alexandra Pub Restaurant is close to the centre of Withernsea on Queen St.In days gone by it was a bit of a "Spit & Sawdust" Pub but not now.Fully refurbished, well appointed and a pleasure to visit.Menu Good.Excellent quality.Prices .Withernsea needed a centrally located quality "Eating House" and the Alexandra fits the bill.Peter & Karen G.

Both myself and my wife have eaten here before and enjoyed the food. I ordered a burger with chips, the chips, bun and everything else was fine the burger was the cheapest burger I have had come on Alexandra your food is a lot better than that you do your own chips which are delicious please stop buying your burgers in and make them yourself. I have given you two stars but will be back as I know you can cook better food.

As a family of four it accomodated all our needs! Fab freshly made childrens menu, adjustments in menu made for baby which was nice! 2 for £10 menu was good value and selection and wide variety of other delicious meals! Definatley best place we have had lunch in the area. Lounge next door to chill and have a game of pool after too!

90s music, the best Bombardier I’ve ever tasted and perfect ambience. I would recommend visiting Withernsea just to have a pint or 6 here. Great pub. A real throwback.

A warm welcome at the Alex. Food was beautiful but next time I wont order a starter....loads of food. The steak and red wine pie was to die for. Plus you can take your dog in the downstairs eating area. Bonus
