Delicious seaside fish and chips! Clean, friendly staff, reasonably priced, busy, perfectly cooked fresh fish, delicious batter and fat chips! Proper seaside dinner, enjoyed by the whole family.

Best chippy in Withernsea by a long way, wouldn’t even bother with any of the others! Generous portions, fish always fresh, batter excellent. Like all good food outlets, expect a small queue, especially in summer.

Just arrived on holiday and this was the only takeaway open at 4:30pm! Was so good to eat their lovely food on the beach. Staff were great. Highly recommend. Especially the curry sauce.

Found the fish quite greasy, even though it was cooked to order. The batter was very thick, and honestly not good value at 6,60 for a supposedly large fish. Honestly I have had better.

Visited The Golden Haddock as this is our favourite fish and chip shop in Withernsea. Been coming here since the 70’s. A family favourite. Excellent choice of food, great quality and value for money

When we stay in Withernsea we always have Fish and Chips from the Golden Haddock, they are constantly the best in town. Freshly fried fish, chunky chips and mushy peas, never fail to hit the spot. Brilliant every time

Fantastic chippy! I had such a lovely meal here that I wanted to go back before our little trip away ended! Unfortunately I didn’t get the chance too, but if I ever return to Withernsea, the Golden Haddock is where I would go for food! Very tasty food at perfect prices! Also, very friendly staff which is a pleasant bonus these days!

Chips very dry after sitting under lamps, curry sauce very bland. Fish was also very small and dry, batter was the best part. All in all very poor quality for the price.

Very disappointing. I've used this restaurant on many occasions. Sometimes it's first class and well worth the inflated cost of this traditional British staple, but it has become a disappointing waste of the price it costs, with an ever increasing frequency. Tonight's fish failed miserably: they really couldn't batten-down the batter? The haddock was welded to it in most places - dried up and tasteless, like chewing on deep-fried tupperware. The chips seem to be on the decline,too? The majority of it ended up in the bin. I doubt I'll be using, or recommending, this 'chippy' again until it sorts its act out. ☹️

Probably the best fish & chips I’ve ever had. Lovely, light crispy batter, flakey haddock and excellent chips. Service was great and the food was incredibly good value for money. Fish & chips of this quality in some cities would be twice the price. Really enjoyed it.

An absolute rip off for one of the worst fish and chips I've ever tasted. Certainly the worst on the east Yorkshire coast. The large haddock was a joke. Call it a large?!! It was slightly bigger than the two small fish I purchased. Complete daylight robbery. All of our fish was overcooked, dry with horrible batter. Chips were ok but very greasy, curry sauce flavourless. To top it off given one of them terrible nasty wooden forks that are a pain to eat with. Additionally there's no kids menu so my five year old understandably could only stomach not even half of the swamp of a small adult portion. What planet is this shop on? Disgraceful

This is a take away fish and chip shop just off the beach in the town centre All the food was cooked fresh to order and service was friendly The chips were absolutely delicious and prices were fair

Second time we’ve visited here and never thought of going anywhere else. Anything fried is done so to order. Always found the haddock is well battered and doesn’t have stodgy batter underneath the crispy side; cooked well through. Prices reasonable as per any fish and chips, only down side was the mushy peas which were bland and flavourless, but highly recommended place in Withernsea!

First visit to Withernsea and decided to have a Fish & Chip takeaway. Had a quick look on Trip Advisor and following the good reviews decided to give the Golden Haddock a whirl. Did not disappoint, lovely tasty fish, light crispy batter and perfectly cooked chips. £21 for Haddock & Chips x 3 - very good value. Friendly staff. Would definitely recommend.

One of the best fish and chip restaurants I have ever been to in the country as well as in Withernsea. Awesome service and the food is always very fresh, tasty and great portions. I have purchased over 100 family meals from the Golden Haddock and NEVER been disappointed.

This is not a restaurant. its a fish and chip shop . Wonderful and friendly staff. Lovely food cooked hot and fresh to order. I love fish fritters and they cook them fresh for me as I enter. I have to wait about ten minutes and all the staff are charming and friendly so it is a pleasant wait! Food is delicious.

Tasty food and even got a free sausage thrown in for our dog, which he thoroughly enjoyed! Would recommend!

We stopped by for some fish and chips when taking a walk on the beach. I have to say this is amongst the best I have ever had. Everything we ordered was delicious and there were some real local characters behind the counter. Keep it up! Well done.

The fish is always fresh, it's usually cooked to order, so on the add times there isn't anyone waiting for an order you don't get a fish thats been standing around for a while. The fish is a good size and reasonably priced and they do the best patties in Withernsea ( and yes i have tried them all ). Highly reccomended.

Our 2 fish suppers were quite on the greasy side. Maybe we caught them on a bad day. Peas tasted of nothing but the curry sauce was ok. Probably wont go back.

Don't go to Withernsea much nowadays, but if we do we visit here, the fish usually is cooked perfect, so we end up buying three large fish and chips, and taking them down to the beach to eat. No compliants from us, a nice lunch.

Had a takeaway for evening meal on the Tuesday and had to go back next day for fish for grandaughter for lunch and again for her tea on Thursday. The staff were really friendly and politeand as stated the batter was so light .

Withensea has many chippys, one of my favourites is the golden haddock on the main Street I had a larg haddock and chips and mushy peas I love the smell of chippys at the sea side

Whenever we visit Withernsea, we always call here for our seaside fish and chip treat. Everything is freshly cooked, not sat in the range going soggy. The prices are really good, so much so that we treat our dog, Shadow to his own fish.

We often grab fish n chips from here when in Withernsea. Always clean and tidy, not had any issues with the food which is basic fare. Perhaps a bit limited menu but always very good value.

We called in for some fish and chips as was recommended and it did not disappoint. The £3.50 fish and chip deal is good. Although it didn't come with any peas etc which would have been a nice addition even for a little more (£4?) The chicken bites where really tasty but a bit pricey for what you get. Also no children's option. With a 1 and 3yr old a fish / chicken bites, chips and drink option would have been good really. Will likely to come again but with those few changed it would be perfect.

The food is cooked to perfection. Staff are nice and friendly. Sure there are award winning fish n chip places nearby, serving portions in fancy cardboard boxes, but they don’t taste half as nice as these, and cost more for less.

Took a walk down from the Withernsea Sands park into the town & found this chippy. Food was cooked fresh. Chips were nice, fish was huge with a lovely light batter. The curry sauce was also very good. Very reasonable price. Would visit again.

Went in tonight with my son. Was speaking to the man and woman who was serving and me and my son was telling them that he had left primary school today - the woman just started laughing and then decided to say infront of my son how small he was!! I thought this was very rude - yes he is is small but nothing to laugh about infront of him! If it was someone on the larger side u wouldn’t laugh and point out they was large so why for someone’s height!! I think this woman needs to work on her customer skills and had my son of not been with me I would of told her that!!

Situated in the middle of town this great little chippy is all it should be. Great fish, great chips and all for just over a fiver. No seating area but close enough to the prom where you can sit and watch the world go by (through the wind turbines).

Popped in this afternoon after reading reviews on here. Ordered haddock & chips twice which came to around £10. Fish is fried to order so we had a 5 minute wait which was fine for us and the food was definitely worth the wait. The fish had been skinned and boned, was fresh and had crispy batter. Chips were well cooked too; crisp and golden but fluffy inside. Portions were generous (should have asked for small!) and staff friendly. Would visit again.

We went here in May. The town itself is lovely. For lunch we went here. The service was friendly. The fish and chips were really good. We would go again. Wpuld be nice if they had some zero drinks on offer as I don't like full of sugar drinks.

We were in the local caravan site for a week and decided to try this chip shop and we both are so glad we did, i ordered fish and chips twice and obviously had to wait to be cooked to order which wasn't here or there as some customers on the reviews like to moan about, both the young lads were very polite and cheerful even though the weather was abit grey outside, once we had gotten back to the caravan with our lunch, we was surprised how nice and large the fish and chips was, many scraps on top of the chips aswel (which i had asked for) and the fish was really nice cooked just right and very tasty all round, we had plenty to give to our pet too and some left over for later which we finished for our tea, price and portion size was amazing, keep it like that and it will be a great little business and will always have a few happy customers ;)

Called after an evening out in town with friends went in and the very friendly staff took my order . Fish was cooked n order so there was a short but reasonable wait. Food was delicious and hot. This shop has long opening hours and stays open all year round so I like that about it as well. Very clean too.
