Hiden Gem . We had Large Haddock chips and peas x 2. Came to £21.20. the fish was excellent, chips were very good and the mushy peas were the best we have had for a long time. 10 out of 10. Definitely visit again

Me and hubby visited whilst staying in Withensea, honestly the best fish and chips I have ever tasted, and the gravy was so nice! It’s a must visit in my opinion

Visited this superb fish and chip shop the first time for over 20 years on 4 March. What a revelation it turned out to be. Beautiful haddock cooked to perfection and chips just as I like them, not chips that look like dry oven chips but chips as they used to be. I will be going again tonight, they even smell as they should unlike lots of modern day chippies.

Best chippy in Withernsea. The special patties are definitely worth a try, but always go back to traditional fish n chips from here, portions are huge. Staff are great.

My family visited Withernsea having travelled from Devon and we are so pleased to have found this little gem of a chippy! Lovely fish Lovely chip's and we also tried their fabulous cheese and spring onion pattys. Lovely friendly couple running the place too we can highly recommend them and we'll be going back for more before we go home.

We travelled nearly 2 hours to get to the East coast and South cliff Fisheries to find the owner used to live and work in our home town. The best fish and chips we've had in a very long time and not overly expensive. The batter was light and crispy and the chips not soggy either. Not in a place we'd have found had it not been for satnav. But once you've collected your fish & chips there's a car park at the end of the road to look out to see whilst enjoying your fish & chips (toilet block there too 👍) Would highly recommend for tasty fish and chips in Withernsea

Located just off the beaten track a few mins walk from the lifeboat station, fish was cooked to perfection and upon ordering. Best fish and chips we have had in a long time, well worth seeking out...even provided everything in a biodegradable carrier bag!

It always pays to get off the main drag to find the hidden gems... This is a cracking little chippy with excellent service and smiles👌 the food was lovely. We had 2 fish and chips, mushy peas, curry sauce and a sausage for the dog 🐕. I can honestly say that this could well be the best fish and chips I've ever had. The curry sauce was second to none too. Well done to the owners and Thankyou 👍(they had just closed when we got back to our accommodation Friday so we went Saturday instead. It was defo worth the wait😉)

Excellent little chippy...fish and chips were great....but the best thing was i was actually served face to face...no screens,no masks and paid with cash...absolutely brilliant place and when in the area again i will be supporting you as a business

Dropped on this little jewel of a chippy and so pleased I did, fish and chips were gorgeous and served by friendly welcoming staff. Next time I'm out on bike up this stretch of coast will make sure I pass at lunch time. Definately recommended a try.

Fish and chips as they used to be years ago, really tasty and a decent portion, good value for money.

Only had a portion of chips on couple of occasions which my wife a I shared with a salad back at the house. The chips were very hot and very tasty.

Hay un montón de peces y las tiendas chip Withernsea, pero en nuestra opinión, este es uno de los más coherentes. Muy generosas porciones, recién cocinados a la orden, es una visita obligada cuando pase por aquí. Tiene que probar tradicional que pensé había desaparecido. Lo único negativo es que está un poco alejado del centro y fácil de perder. Sólo ve un poco hasta la carretera y verá que anidada entre las casas.

Good fish & chips been going there for years freshly cooked to order and it's nice to see a proper fish cake over here and not a patty

Not good fish not fried enough and batter under cooked chips and fish no taste really . Not good at all .

I called for fish and chips after receiving a recommendation from someone in a local pub all I can say is they must have shares in the place.The whole meal was swimming in grease the there was a small slither of fish in the middle with mushed up fish around it battered and soaked in grease.The chips were smothered in grease and turned to a horrible mush.I gave up on them and my dog turned his nose up and walked away when I offered them to him.The after taste of the small amount I did consume is lingering six hours later.

Odio admitir esto, pero sí, he probado cada chippy en withernsea, y mientras que las otras están bien, South Cliff es simplemente increíble. Adecuada "pescado y patatas fritas, realmente delicioso, cocinado a la perfección y precioso, el personal es amable.

What can one say... they serve a large fish fritter and when it's wrapped inside a buttered bread cake it certainly does take some beating... frying new spuds too... a delicious tea

We were all absolutely starving and had the best fish and chips I have ever had and not very expensive either

Having been told that this was "the best Fishand chips in Withernsea" we went along to try it out.A very basic and not very fresh smelling place did not give a good initial impression but I ordered 2 fish and chips. The fish was duly fed into the fryer and a clock timer was set on while the server carried on doing something in a book while loud thumpy musak played. The ping went off and the fish removed and served in a polystyrene box with the chips.I mentioned that the chips looked a bit dried up but no reaction so I took them to the car. We went down to the sea front, opened them up and were not really impressed. That impression proved to be well deserved, the chips were dried up greasy and luke warm and the fish we would guess was ready battered frozen.How this shop can advertise itself as serving traditional fish and chips is beyond me. We ate some of it and binned the rest. 3 hours later it is still coming back and 2 gaviscon have now been taken along with 2 mugs of tea to get rid of the taste. Never again, it should be visited by the local health department.

We go ther fairly regular there fish is best in area chips are a bit greasy though Wessy fish cakes nice and scampi and nuggets both nice

the fish was gorgeous, chips perfect and portion size, well I could not finish it. I had a medium size fish and chips. my partner had gravy on his and it is the best I have tasted. staff are friendly as well so a bonus. well worth a visit. not greasy at all. (the other reviewer must be a born moaner, look at his other reviews none say anything good about anything). can ring and order in advance. fish is cooked to order so it is always fresh.

Place your order when you enter and wait for your order cooking, its always hot and well cooked. The prices are reasonable for the size of the portions. Staff are always pleasent. Well worth a visit.

I will always walk a bit further to get the best fish and chips in the area. These are cookd fresh and hot and the fish is chunky , large and delicious with great batter. The WESSIE cakes are to die for and the chips fabulous too!

We called here for fish and chips and to sample their Wessie fishcake which were wrapped up for use to take home.By the time we got home (a five minute walk)the grease had penetrated the numerous pieces of wrapping paper.On opening the chips were like a greasy mush and the fish wasn`t much better while the Wessie fish cake was hard as though it had been stood round in the warmer at the shop for hours or was a fry up.Most of it went in the bin even the dog wasn`t interested in it.Conclusion,give this one a miss and find somewhere else.

Excellent fish and chips. tasty and good portions. best in the area. open everyday except Sunday. they do a traditional "wessie " fishcakes, 3 sizes of fish deboned, and skinned. definatley the best in Yorkshire.
