The best restaurants in Penistone West Barnsley Yorkshire and The Humber

We called here for breakfast whilst camping nearby. It was an enormous breakfast with really nice quality produce. Will definitely be going back!

Great country pub with superb views outside, roaring fires inside and excellent food and drink. Our server, who greeted us warmly was called Phoebe. She was professional, efficient and very friendly. A credit to the Dog and Partridge. Our friends who were dining with us, also commented on this and how refreshing it was to visit such a nice venue.

Great spot, allows hounds - even better! Try to get the table near the wood burner with the settee. But you’ll have to be early or Lucky!

Went in was 30min before closing time staff where more interested in closing than serving, waiting in line to be served staff made no effort to serve me ended up walking out.

Excellent kebab. Decent poppers amd onion rings.

Lovely location, lovely staff, not sure what is happening with the food though. We have visited on quite a few occasions and it appears to be very hit and miss. As a veggie, there isn’t much choice. The cauliflower steak I had was just a big piece of roasted cauliflower, burnt in areas, with a few smashed roasted potatoes and tsataiki, very little garnish. To be honest I am not a big eater , but I was still hungry after my meal. Quite disappointing to be honest and certainly not worth £17.00. The others in my table had chicken breast- reasonable sized portion and pie , which they seem to enjoy .

Called in on way home from Sheffield. Place was less than half full. Ordered starters and a main and got drinks. Starters came and was OK but looking forward to a main of steak and red wine pie as had no lunch.waited and waited and finally after over an hour we asked where food was to be told they had mislaid the ticket and what we had ordered was no longer available . To say we were disappointed would be an understatement and as we were now running late and did not want the alternative we decided to just leave. We were given a refund for the mains but no apology and not even a complimentary drink. Very disappointing and won't go back.

Walked around the reservoir and visited here afterwards. A lovely pint of Landlord plus delicious pies and fish & chips. Friendly service, nice atmosphere and real fire. Highly recommended.

Travelled from Aberdeenshire in Scotland. Warm welcome & food was great! Recommend the fish & chips and the steak & kidney pie!

Cristello lounge is a lovely bar in Penistone its such a shame that they do not have a bar person that makes cocktails from scratch instead of the premade.
