Bank View Cafe in Barnsley

We stopped here for afternoon tea, the scones just crumbled into little pieces it was difficult to even put anything on it, the tea was very nice from the pot! The place needs a good clean it’s dirty, I know dogs can go in and walkers, but there is no need for it to have cobwebs everywhere, it needs a good clean! Looking back through the picture it looks like it’s gone down hill and needs a clean and paint.we wouldn’t stop here again.

This place is a little hidden gem! The food is always good quality, very well priced and the steak and stout pie is wonderful every time. The homemade chips are hand cut proper chips. The best thing about this place is that it is truly dog friendly. If your dog is well behaved they can sit on your lap rather than the floor and the service is always friendly.

Made a little stop here for breakfast, food was great, service was great, food came out very quick. Highly recommend if stopping by and looking for a drink or food.

This is just fab after a walk and even just to visit. The food is home made and locally sourced. Good wholesome food. The jam roly poly and custard was delicious as was the quiche. The decor is fab and quirky. The Staff were amazing, welcoming and friendly. Loved it.

This is a fantastic place to go to after a walk around the nearby reservoir and it is dog friendly. Hearty food is the order of the day here and they certainly don’t skimp on the portions. Plenty of choice on the menu too. I had the lentil soup which was really good. I would have that again. I must mention the staff who were so friendly. The only downer was that the car park is not big enough but there is not a great deal that can be done about that.

Called in for the first time after a walk around Langsett reservoir. Husband had omelette and chips which he really enjoyed. I had cream tea and the scone was warm and so light! Really tasty. My friend had cake (can't remember the name of it) but it was packed with fruit and she loved it. Staff very nice and service was great. Will definitely be coming back!

I had the Dambuster all day breakfast and I have to say what good quality every item was on the plate. My son had this to and he had no complaints. The fried bread was perfectly done and the black pudding was excellent. My grandson had a burger which was very much to his taste, again the quality was excellent. Every member of staff was so friendly too and nothing was too much trouble. I will be calling in again if I am in the area.

The cafe provided a sausage sandwich with very little sausage i,at a expensive price .There is plenty more cafes locally that give a lot better service and a lot better food

Myself and my partner (Who is gluten intolerant) popped in after a walk round Langsett Reservoir. Sitting out in the garden was a very pleasant experience despite the road close by. We both had chips and haloumi fries and then my partner had a Gluten free brownie and I had the Parkin. Each time we ordered the service was very fast and our food was brought out to us outside. Portion sizes were great and the cakes in particular were definitely generously sized and tasted fantastic. They have signs up stating that they are allergy aware and after the conversation she had regarding her gluten issues, my partner was confident that they knew what they were talking about and were very approachable regarding any issues. The staff were very friendly and happy to accommodate. All in all, a great place.

Absolutely filthy my sons chips was rock hard, my bacon was raw then burned in parts, the toast was flat cold my fried potatoes was same as my sons chips rock hard, if i had seen how filthy it was before ordering i would off walked stright out!! Waste off money!!

As regulars of several years, we have to say that we are very disappointed with our recent visits to the Spotty Cafe. The quality of both the food and the service has really gone downhill since Christmas. The regular staff seem to have disappeared, only to be replaced by young people who quite frankly could do with some training, especially in cooking. I hope that things will improve fairly quickly. Otherwise I'm afraid that the deserved really good reputation that the cafe has had up to now will rapidly deteriorate. All I can say is what a shame!

Having worked up an appetite walking around the reservoir the Bank View Café made the perfect place to escape from the snow, sleet and hail of an English Easter Sunday, the coffee was hot and strong and enough jam & cream to be almost too much for the scone, almost. Staff were pleasant & chatty and the atmosphere welcoming but unobtrusive.

After a walk around the reservoir we called at the cafe for breakfast on Sunday, as we regularly do. We were pleased on arrival to see we had beaten the rush (only four other tables with customers). I ordered a breakfast omelette with a side order of potatoes and my husband the Bank View Fry up. The cafe was filling up steadily but we'd ordered before the rush so were very surprised and disappointed that it took 35mins to arrive! When it did I was extremely unhappy. The supposedly 'side order' of potatoes was a total of only 5 and the toast was cold and hard. I took my breakfast back to the counter. Explained to the member of staff that I'd waited a long time for my meal and that I didn't feel the potatoes constituted a side order and also asked for new toast. My husband began tucking in as we thought my food would return promptly. 10 minutes later I was still waiting. I went up to the counter agin and was told it would not be long. When my breakfast finally came out they had cooked a new olette (not what I asked for) and kept the same potatoes on the plate!! I was then informed that there would be a further 10 minute wait for my extra potatoes. My husband had pretty much finished and I wasn't prepared to wait to have all my food that I'd ordered arrive at the same time to then eat on my own. I was offered a refund which I accepted (although I realised once we'd left that I was only refunded for the omelette and ending up paying for the potatoes that never came) but as I was very upset I also asked to speak to the manager. The waiter came back and told me that the manager was too busy to come and speak to me!! This I found disgusting and unprofessional. We left promptly. Needless to say we shall not be going back to the Bank View Cafe.

I arrived this morning on my push bike from the Dunford Brdige direction. I was dripping wet, frozen to the core and literally shaking from cold. Pete and his team bent over backwards to help get me right again - nothing was too much trouble....

Well what can i say! This place really is a hidden gem, the food was great and the coffee was splendid! Would recommend to every man and his dog
