We had a great start to the Christmas festivities with a meal at the Elephant and Castle. The food was delicious and we were stuffed by the end. Starter Prawn Cocktail, main course roast turkey dinner and as I’m not a sweet fan I had a cheese board. We had a lovely evening with Trish, Adie and their gorgeous doggies who came down to see us after we had eaten. Well worth a visit and great value for money too !

Over priced and over cooked! We booked in for a Sunday lunch and was really looking forward to it, unfortunately at £19 each for 1 course I would expect more than the toughest most chewy beef I have ever had in my life! The carrots where black! I got 2 sprouts and 1 boiled potato the yorkshire pudding was cold and dry, I was also charged an extra pound for a stuffing ball which was free if you had chicken or turkey and that was also hard and dry! . . I may as well have just thrown £50 in the air absolutely awful experience and staff are very slow

Pleasant staff, pleasant dining area, table old but solid. A wide selection of meals eaten. Problems? Yes. Pie with a huge hard suet top. The filling was good when found. Chips odd. Were they soaked in gravy then oven fried.? Some were still undercooked. Huge Yorkshire, rather dry. Other parts of the various meals satisfactory, but nothing special. Not a place we will search out again.

Visited Thurs 10.10.24 with friends. One word to sum up this place. FABULOUS Sampled the Treat Thursday Menu which was cracking value for a midweek meet up with friends. This place is a must if you like a country style pub just how a Pub and restaurant should be, great decor, very warm, cozy and attentive service from the Lovely Trish. Food was 5 star. The most delicious Chicken Liver Pate to start Main A Delicious Sausage Casserole served with plenty of veg and soft Cremy Mash Potatoe. Would recommend and lovely thick Gravy Manged Dessert of white chocolate cheesecake. Food presented well and backed up with friendly attentive service. Thanks for a fabulous evening, and will definitely return. I have never heard a bad word about this great place and glad I've finally tried it.

What a wonderful pub this is. The decor is fab, old country pub style. Trish was so attentive and the service was great. The food was delicious and very well presented. We went for the Thursday treat, 3 courses for £25. Excellent value with plenty of choices and a glass of fizz / non alcohol fizz. Added bonus for me was that there was Brocksmen Gin behind the bar, happy days.

Put opening times say Monday Closed, Tuesday to Saturday Food 12pm-7pm/Bar 12pm-9pm this is on the website and on google hours are same. Yet again closed as per usual , We arrived at the pub at 7pm on Wednesday for a drink and closed, every time we want to visit it is closed if your not going to stick to the hours you’ve provided change them so people aren’t travelling out for a drink or even food. Shouldn’t have to ring to see if pubs open for a drink. Ridiculous Last time we went it is like you are inconveniencing the landlady by being there. Landlady is rude and definitely not inviting or friendly whatsoever. Everytime we have been it’s the same atmosphere from her. The last straw for us was the opening times yet again and we felt like we had to share with other people. If you don’t want to keep open and stick to your times and not a people person rude to customers which after reading the other reviews seems like a regular occurrence sell up and give it to someone that will love it and be at the heart of the community, being are local its such a shame but we aren’t surprised

Even went as far as getting the table ready with toys to occupy our daughter, brought her food out earlier than ours so she wasn’t waiting. They do toddler portions so you don’t pay for a full child’s meal. The food was delicious and the pints were good! Been 3 times now and the food has never disappointed us and the service is always brilliant. Thank you.

**Restaurant Review: A Delightful Sunday Lunch at The Elephant and Castle** Yesterday, we had the pleasure of enjoying Sunday lunch at The Elephant and Castle, and it was truly a memorable experience. My two daughters, who are both fussy eaters and have several allergies, were thoroughly catered for—a rare feat for most restaurants. The lady who served us, whom I believe to be the owner, went above and beyond to ensure our meal was perfect. Her attention to detail and understanding of our dietary needs were exceptional. The Sunday roast, in particular, was one of the best I have ever had—flavourful, perfectly cooked, and generously portioned. This wasn’t our first visit to The Elephant and Castle, and it certainly won’t be our last. Both the service and the food continue to impress, making it one of our favourite spots. If you’re looking for a place that combines outstanding food with impeccable service, this is it.

The decor and staff were as great as always however the quality and attention to detail on meals has dropped. Three of the four meals were served lukewarm with chips fresh out the frier, staff happily replaced one which was too cold to eat. The ambience with the manager was a little off which could be felt however the rest of the staff were wonderful to deal with. Not the premium eatery it used to be.

We visited here after seeing the feature on Ricky and Ralf's road trip. Unfortunately, it was a bit of a let down. The paté starter was pretty tasty but small, and the caramelised onions weren't caramelised, just fried off. A homemade chutney to accompany this would have been lovely. The chicken and bacon baguette was really nice and fresh, but the fries were undercooked (many reviews stating similar) and the mayo was tasteless, which let it down. Staff were polite and friendly and the outdoor seating was nice, with what looked like a good choice of ales, but the food was just OK and we felt expensive for portion sizes and quality. A nice place to stop for a drink or two in the sunshine, but the food left a lot to be desired.

A lovely vibrant pub. Service was outstanding. I have only marked food down for two small reasons; the roast potatoes weren't cooked enough. Should be crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle. The apple crumble was not great considering how easy it is. Everything else in our Sunday lunch was delicious with generous portions and a good price. A bit off the beaten track, but the sat-nav found it without bother, the Elephant & Castle is a friendly local restaurant and bar. Menu is mostly traditionally British and always features pies; one of us had a substantial beef and blue cheese pie which was delicious and came with a few proper chunky chips, also piping hot and crisp. I had the pork with crackling and mash; possibly more mash than I needed but the generaous piece of pork was cooked through without drying out and the crackling was very crisp, not too fatty, and seasoned just right. My veg was a bit dry though. Staff were friendly and attentive without being pushy. It was a pleasure to eat there, if it were closer I'd be back before long.

Our friends had the chicken dish but it wasn’t a very big portion although they said it was nice. Puddings were ok again it big portions. We had a lovely meal but we did feel a little rushed and seems a shame that it closes so early on a Saturday night. The car park barriers were closed when we left so our lift had no access. Very disappointed in our family lunch. Garlic mushrooms served on an over thick wedge of dry cardboard like bread. Tempura prawns were lovely and light but sickly sweet chilli sauce. Scampi very nice and crisp, but served with a teaspoon of tartar sauce obviously being rationed. Extra was brought out when requested. The huge oversized bland and tasteless chips … why?? What’s wrong with serving normal sized crispy chips? The roast chicken dinner came with pre gravied Yorkshire pudding which made it soggy and unappealing. Extremely dry Cayjun chicken was the biggest disappointment, and pretty inedible. When we requested a sauce we were told non was available. Perphaps if the coleslaw that should have accompanied the dish had appeared it may have improved it. But I doubt it. Three drinks, two starters with three main courses were £75. Not money well spent unfortunately.

Recently visited this pub for lunch with a friend and we left rather disappointed. The staff were nice and the atmosphere seemed fine however the food didn’t quite meet our expectations. We ordered an Antipasto from the main menu accompanied by a side order of sweet potato fries and a couple of glasses of Chardonnay but apart from the wine everything else was appalling. Assuming that the sharing starter of antipasto for £10 will be a charcuterie style selection of cured meats, cheese, olives dips and bread we received 4 slices of rock hard bread with 4 tiny dips (olive oil & balsamic, hummus, crushed olives, red pepper & tomato) The side order of sweet potato fries was soaked in oil and it was undercooked. Upon trying the above we decided not to waste our appetite on such mediocre food so I paid the bill of £25 and went elsewhere to have a proper meal. Sadly the experience was so bad that I doubt it that we would ever return or recommend the Elephant and Castle to anyone.

Only our second visit, but we were in the area, and I was tempted to see if the E&C Burger I'd had on my last visit was as brilliant as I'd remembered the first time. It most definitely was. Strange really, because I rarely order a burger in a pub/restaurant, but this one is well worth the trip. My wife had the Halloumi burger which she also really enjoyed. We were made to feel very welcome by the landlady and her staff, and went away feeling very full and satisfied. A shame you're not on our doorstep, but we will definitely be back, at least to try some of the other items on the menu.

We came to the Elephant and Castle to celebrate the start of our half term holiday. Date night is definitely worth going to with a delicious menu and a free bottle of wine to have with it! Trish and Adie are always very friendly and welcoming, with excellent service from all members of staff. Toni the chef always cooks tasty and delicious food with different specials to choose from as well as the normal menu. We will be going again soon!

Sunday lunch for my wife's birthday was amazing here. Excellent food, communication. Nothing was too much trouble for any member of staff and great to see people happy in their job roles. The lady owners communication/ organisation with staff shone. Cosy and great value. A credit to hospitality this place! 👍 Dare say it won't be our last visit. Well done.

Visited on a Thursday lunchtime, food OK ( Spudz)... But music so loud we had to nearly shout to be heard. 3 young girls behind bar, obviously not aware of the term "easy listening".....

Claire was extremely helpful and found me a table despite it being busy and me being without a booking. The carvery was great and the service continued to be excellent from Claire throughout.

I've been using this Brewers Fayre for around 4 years now for a meeting venue, always having coffees and lunch. Up until recently we have always enjoyed good service in a pleasant environment with decent food. The last couple of visits haven't been so good unfortunately. Yesterday we could barely hear ourselves think let alone hold a meeting, the music was far too loud, I asked if it could be turned down a little and was told that they couldn't "the area manager says it must be at that volume". So I sought out a quieter corner to be told you can't sit there if you are not eating, I explained that we would be eating later but the answer was still no as breakfast was still being served. I'd understand this response if the restaurant was busy but there were 3 people in a restaurant that must sit around 200 people. Several people came and went due to the volume of the music and the staff wouldn't or couldn't turn it down. One member of staff even commented that the area manager must be deaf as they agreed it was too loud but the supervisor wouldn't budge. Such a shame as it's a very convenient venue, but I'll be looking for somewhere quieter for my monthly meeting and meals.
