Cristello Lounge in Barnsley

Cristello lounge is a lovely bar in Penistone its such a shame that they do not have a bar person that makes cocktails from scratch instead of the premade.

I have just read the review of Cristello that was posted on the 20th of September 2020. I was in there with my friends at the time of the incident and support everything that the customer has said. The attitude of the owner was horrid. We were sat close by and saw what happened, everything the reviewer said was true. The response from the manager is nonsense. If she was in the building she certainly wasn't near enough to see or hear what happened so has clearly been told what to say. The owners behavior was rude and antagonist. To be honest his behaviour was very odd and not normal. Irrelevant of who was right or wrong regarding the time of the booking its not acceptable to threaten people. In what situation is it OK for a pub landlord to threaten people and pick a fight with a customer. The couple did absolutely nothing wrong and remaind dignified throughout, we felt really sorry for them. The fact that the manager & owner have tried to discredit the customers show how completely unprofessional these people/business is. Given how horrible the owner was with the couple its no surprise that they have blocked him on social media. My friends and I were disgusted & due to what we saw we will not be going again!!

Nice atmosphere, good selection of drinks, comfortable seating and friendly staff. Great addition to Penistone

What a absolute fab place & fantastic decor, Great friendly staff and always greeted with a smile also not forgetting the great gin’s a credit to you both Brett, Lisa & the rest of the staff

We booked a table via their Facebook page for 9pm & arrived promptly at 9pm to be met by the 'owner' Brett. He said we were late & had given our table away. I showed him the messages on my phone clearly stating it was booked for 9pm. He told me to scroll up on my phone stating ' We don't take bookings after 8.30' he said he'd sent a message saying this which he hadn't. He then accused me of deleting it!! He went on to blame his wife & staff for interfering with the messages even tho the messages were signed 'Brett x'!! He said 'well there's a table in there.' We ordered drinks & settled down with some friends to enjoy the evening. He later came back to our table to speak to our friends but then had another go at my Husband about the booking stating ' My bar my rules' & threatened to throw my husband out. My Husband is 66!! Neither of us had done anything wrong. Brett was rude & aggressive. His customer service is severely lacking! We will definitely NOT be visiting again. There are many more bars in the area that are far in front of this one and beats it hands down on service, price & choice. We don't go out to be insulted, offended and met with threats & aggression! I'm sure he will respond saying he didn't do/say this but our friends witnessed his behaviour and also told him he was out of order.

Spent an evening here, cracking atmosphere, great bar, friendly staff and good observing of social distancing, if your in penistone definatly best place to be, 100% recommend

My husband and I have visited a few times absolutely love this place lovely decor great service and my favourite glass of chilled prosecco !! We will be back x

We really enjoyed our" girls gin night out ". The prices of gin and tonic where fair ,and with the advice on favoured gins and fruit to go with them ,much appreciated .We enjoyed a very pleasant evening out .Lovely that it's just down the road.😊😉😁

Perfect atmosphere, location, ambience and evening.... Promoting local live music, friendly staff and dog friendly too... Will be visiting regularly x

We decided to try this place after avoiding it for a while because people had complained about the prices. I found the prices were quite reasonable- however the glass was only half full! Adding different berries and such was a nice touch. The live music was nice but far too loud, I couldn’t hear my partner sat right next to me. Once this had finished the staff put on their own music, which was even louder, and consisted of techno music and the like. Not really the music I imagine when I think of a gin bar... The staff were also quite unprofessional, chewing gum, drinking alcohol, taking rubbish bags past customers, and being quite rowdy with who I assume were friends of theirs sat at the bar. I might try going back again during the day, in hopes of a different and more professional environment.

we went to try it out, as a friend had moved from the area and not heard anything and i've been wanting to try the place out. turned up and there was live music on, which was a good surprise, despite having a lovely voice it was a little too loud to have a good catch up with, whilst relaxing with a gin. The pudding gin was lovely that i had. it is a more boutique spot, being around 8+ pound per drink, so not a place to stay all night!! lovely surroundings and a very welcome injection of a bit of class and glam in penistone. i would visit again

Fantastic bar. Great asset to the village. 2nd visit and not disappointed. Staff and atmosphere great. Love the Pud Gins especially the chocolate orange mixed with coke. Love it.
