The best restaurants serving British food in Penistone West Barnsley Yorkshire and The Humber

Lovely little café selling hot drinks, cakes and breakfast/brunch. The staff were really nice and helpful! They also have good vegan options, which I really appreciate, especially for such a small town café :) The flapjack was good — not too sugar-y like many flapjacks are. Couldn’t resist also getting some handmade earrings from the range of art/crafts/food gifts on sale.

Reliably good food, friendly service, lobster Arancini were fab. Suggest 2 x small plates each plus paremesan fries. Plenty of veggie choices

It is a beautiful place but it is very badly run . We stumbled to this place on a sunny Sunday afternoon and ordered some drinks and food from the large menu . What can I say it took more than 2h for a pizza and some bar snacks to arrive . Multiple members of staff were telling me ‘ sorry we are very busy ‘ , ‘the food is just plated’ only to find out that the kitchen not even stated to prepare it . And we weren’t the only one with missing food …People complain that pubs are shutting down but when the place is badly run and don’t appreciate customers , unfortunately this is going to happen. Maybe make the food menu small , get more staff on busy days or just stops taking food order . We won’t be returning that’s for sure .

I must say after the last time which wasn’t good at all, we decided to give it another try as we used to go frequently and it didn’t disappoint it was hot, staff very pleasant so will be going again

Not for ZOE members, unless you’ve been good enough to be allowed chips . They will Do a side of vegetables if you ask . Nice staff .

Saddened that the best pint and the heart beat of Cubley has been removed from sale! Yes their famous San Miguel which was sublime no longer exists. Staff just as perplexed are blaming the brewery? This has been replaced by a sub standard (but more expensive) Estrella Damm. A sales ploy no doubt and at £5.20 very over priced. Peroni is also £5.20 yes, and at 4.8%abv maybe worth it, but a flat average Estrella at 4.6% the same price, I’m not interested. It was a mile off the Miguel. A mile off. Same old annoyances still prevail, can never get served at the bar, food very ordinary, a claimed new menu not much different and the place is still manned by teenagers without a clue (rocketing min wage differences you bet)! A step backwards and maybe a death knell. What a shame.

Walked around the reservoir and visited here afterwards. A lovely pint of Landlord plus delicious pies and fish & chips. Friendly service, nice atmosphere and real fire. Highly recommended.
