Dog & Partridge Country Inn in Barnsley

This is our second stay at The Dog and Partridge in Flouch 11/10/24 and once again we were not disappointed. It was a last minute booking to get away together with our 2 small dogs, for quick getaway. We arrived just after 5pm and got booked in straight away and shown to our room which again was great. Dinner was gorgeous i had the Venison and my wife had the chicken burger. I'd not eaten venison for a very long time and I wasn't disappointed. We retired to our room with a bottle of wine and had a very plesant and peaceful sleep even the dogs slept well in their own bed. We had breakfast here which was included with our booking and yet again quite a choice to have. My wife had an omelette and for me the Full Yorkshire breakfast. Thank you to all the staff for making us very welcome. We will be back again.

Our second stay at the Dog & Partridge. Really pleased to find that everything was of a really high standard. The room was comfortable and the evening meal and breakfast absolutely gorgeous. The bar area is also warm, comfortable and cosy, and the owner and staff team helpful and friendly. Will definitely return here.

We were 'refugees' from a mistaken booking in an awful place and after a bit of desperate Googling we found the Dog and Partridge willing to take us in last minute on a Sunday. It was brilliant. Lovely staff, endlessly helpful, on top of a busy service, log fires, good natured locals, tasty home cooked food, comfy bed.... The lovely place and the foul weather the next day meant we asked if we could stay another night and we hunkered down for the day with books and stuff and the dog and had such a relaxing time. There are, if there is visibility and the rain is not lashing down as it was for us, fantastic views of the moors beyond and even the busy A628 does not make it feel less like a really good country pub. Writing this as I am looking forward to a tasty supper and glass of wine. Will be sorry to leave tomorrow. A big thank you for all the staff did over and above and really looked after us.

We booked this meal weeks in advance in the restaurant on arrival we were told it was closed on that day so we were out in the bar Why were we not told ? I travelled for two hours to sit on an uncomfortable seat squashed around a small table for five The pork fillet was dreadful dry veg absolutely bland no salt no greens carrots in water obviously microwaved uneatable Sweet was good which was fortunate as I hadn’t eaten the main course Other members had the pie mash which had no seasoning either very bland Coffee no machine only cafetière No paper in the loo Not a happy customer

WOW, what a fantastic place to have a 2 day break. Staff were so polite, professional and always very helpful. Food was amazing, accomodation was first class. Thank you for looking after us, felt like family 👍 Looking forward to our next visit x Nigel and Michelle 😜
