Only breakfast in penistone so i dont know if its the best. No heating...was like sitting in a freezer this morning. No wifi despite being advertised Staff were so loud , i had intimitate details of their conversation from the next room.....next time it will be the chippy

What a find. A wonderful cafe. Breakfast was top notch. Excellent home cooked food and such welcoming staff. We visited whilst on holiday near by and will visit again.

Good food, and friendly staff. But it was busy when we visited and there was only one person working so it was quite slow. We weren't in a hurry so it was not a problem, but I would avoid it if you're on a tight lunch break.

Half past one and wouldn't serve anything other than beverage and cake.

I always call in when I'm cycling near Penistone. Proper down to earth cafe with none of that pretentious stuff. Really good coffee. Traditional cafe menu - bacon butties etc. Selection of buns and stuff. Jill always makes me feel welcome and we always have a little chat. Little seating area at the front of the cafe in better weather. I recommend getting away from the main street in Penistone and trying this cafe.

Called in with my friend and her young grandson for a cuppa and bite to eat. What a perfect choice. Lovely friendly staff, tea cake was gorgeous. Great food at a great price. Clean bright surroundings. Give them a try.

Small, friendly cafe with a good selection of sandwiches, baked potatoes and cakes.

Went at around 12ish, was fairly quiet and got seated. Food prepped and arrived quick. Very good service, delicious brekko. £8 for a large (pictured). Will be returning.

Unsure why, but there were bare walls and no art on display. We arrived for a late lunch and chose the chicken club sandwich and the hot turkey with cranberry and stuffing rolls. Bath were rather dry and there was only a small portion of turkey. The coffees were good and prices reasonable. Our server was friendly and efficient but no face covering was used.

We called for early lunch whilst out on a bike ride. Very handy if you are cycling on the TPT and space out back to lock your bike which is visible from the cafe. Took a while for us to be served as lady working was all on her own. Food came out quite quickly and was delicious. Coffee was really nice too. The lady working was lovely, but she definitely needed another pair of hands.

Fantastic veggie breakfasts and sausage sandwiches, and halloumi wraps. Lots of yummy cakes all hand made. The coffee is really good too. It’s a nice place to go on your own or with friends.

A lovely quiet local cafe with a warm welcome, delicious cakes and local art work and cards displayed for sale. Jill bakes the nicest crumbly and large scones in the area! The full breakfasts are rather nice too. Brilliant personal service, Laura always remembers how you take your tea or what you have with your scone. Somewhere nice to meet with friends but also comfortable to go in your own. Isolating but can’t wait for it to be safe to visit again. Thank you so much for the Care Package. Fiona

Was in Penistone for a week, came there every day for lunch, really good selection of homemade soup and the lady running it is absolutely delightful! Highly recommended!

We had an excellent experience for a private gathering - the staff were incredibly kind and helpful and on the day the food was delicious. Home made cakes and so much choice. Great value for money.

Not what it used to be, food quality poor, staff leave alot to be desired. No one out front waiting to take orders sat ages before someone came out. Definitely wont be going again for food. Definitely no longer a deli.

Popped into this cafe today with my husband. It was cold outside so we both ordered a hot chocolate! It's been years since I've had a hot chocolate, and this one was very enjoyable. We couldn't resist some cake too! We were served by a lovely lady who was very friendly. Would return and recommend

My first visit but well impressed with the general ambience of art amongst the people. The sort of place where art doesn't get in the way of life, just helps to enhance it. Although the quiche had sold out the coffee was good and the toasted sandwiches well filled-be careful of the salt pot!

Brilliant coffee my friend had her dog with her so sat outside they even brought a bowl of water for the dog

Small interesting cafe. Good menu offers plenty of choices. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Handy for lunch before going to the cinema. Very popular.

My Favourite cafe in the town and it has it fair share , breakfast is really good . The cakes are home made a very nice and the people who run it are great. Really friendly and fantastic service.

We ordered a full English, a vegi breakfast and a plate of mushrooms, scrambled egg & a hashbrown for our 3yr old. The ladies were very accomodating and friendly. The coffee was really nice (poor coffee can spoil it for us and this was great) and the chocolate cake afterwards was to die for. Light and squishy and demolished in seconds. A fab little space with all different artistic wares on display around the walls, for sale. Also, for any vegis - the breakfast comes with sausages!! Always better than the cop out of version of eggs and beans. We will be returning.

I'm not in the habit of usually going on large cycle rides on Christmas Eve but some places are worth that trek from Sheffield. Top service as usual and a scrumptious serving of bilberry pie to await me, along with squirty cream. Sitting in the middle of a picturesque little market town like Penistone adds to the experience

Absolutely love it here, by far the best cafe in Penistone and for miles around. The all day cooked breakfast is amazing and definitely not greasy spoon. Lovely staff, wonderful art and crafts on display, clean, comfortable, cosy and a lovely atmosphere.

I was brought here for a “pit stop” whilst cycling on the TPT. What a truly fabulous deli. The place is warm and friendly and the staff are excellent and accommodate for your every need. I have been twice and blown away by the quality of the food.... and coffee which are both very reasonably priced. I questioned whether I should post this as it may cause difficulties in getting a table in future, but honestly, I can not find fault with any part of this fab deli and I look forward to returning soon.

Under the previous owners this cafe was a gem and always busy. They served excellent coffee and beautifully cooked food. The cafe was always packed out when we used to call in on Thursday mornings Our first visit since under new ownership and we won't be going again. The staff are lovely and friendly but the fact that mid morning there were few customers speaks for itself. The coffee was weak, tasteless and not very hot. Seen better full English breakfasts served in supermarket cafes. One of our party, never known to leave food, wouldn't eat the sausages and left most of the hard bacon from his full English breakfast . The previous owners had an interesting menu and used local produce. Now the menu is mundane, food not brilliantly cooked or served.

Cafe has gone down the drain. Used to be a great place with a lovely feeling, lovely food and lovely staff. Alas no more. We have been twice since it was taken over but we won't be going back. Poor food and poor choice. It's just another cafe with little going for it. Recommend? Certainly not!

Service was great. Tea cup and all plates were lovely and warm. Fruit scone was big and tasty. Place was clean and well presented. Will definitely go again.

The food here is lovely, freshly made to order and reasonably priced. The staff make it a dining pleasure! Friendly, chatty and nothing is too much trouble for them. They will make your visit a special one.

This used to be a thriving and lovely cafe prior to the change in management. Sadly the place now lacks the warm atmosphere and outstanding food that it once had. This has got to be management. The food quality is mediocre and poor portion sizing. We will definitely be heading to Cafe Generation or Cafe Creme in future

We visited the cafe,and found a table.It took nearly 15 minutes for waiting staff to take our order, while waiting some people who came in after us were served before us.

After a long bike ride we found this super cafe a few yards off the Trans Pennine Trail. Sat at one of the outside tables with space for the bikes. Had a delicious lunch, one chicken club sandwich and one ham and cheese toastie with iced fraps! Perfect! Service was quick and staff were excellent!

Recently provided a delicious and thoughtful afternoon tea for a party of 8 to celebrate my mum-in-law's 70th - half of us vegetarian and they even made special trifles for us. Warm friendly service and lovely atmosphere inside this well located cafe.

I recently visited The ArtHouse with my partner for afternoon tea. You are welcomed by accommodating staff who ensure all your needs are met. The decor is lovely and has a "homely" feeling with the art and various other items on the walls.

Pie and peas were very nice topped with the friendly staff made it pleasant meal.

We only went in for a cuppa on this occasion, but the staff were very pleasant, there was a good selection of cakes, and they offered a variety of non-dairy alternatives. The café has a relaxing ambience and the toilet/baby changing facilities are clean and pleasant. I would definitely recommend!

Under new management , called in this morning for a latte and bacon and egg sandwich . Was super nice great friendly staff well worth a visit , will be calling in again very soon

Always a warm welcome at the Art House. Food excellent and reasonable priced. We all enjoyed the Breakfast Muffin and the eggs were poached to perfection.

Visited this lovely little cafe again yesterday with my mum and two sisters. There is nothing not to like. This place serves the best afternoon tea ever ,in a lovely atmosphere with the friendliest service from the amazing staff. I would definitely recommend if you ever have the pleasure to visit this lovely little corner of Yorkshire. Definitely five stars all round

Lovely cafe, great food and atmosphere

I decided to give the Brocoli Soup with Soft Cheese served with a hot bread roll.

The time was early afternoon, around 14:30, The coffee shop was quite busy and there was a group of young mums and there babies, all nice and cosy. However the cleanliness of the table was very poor, and not just ours. It was not that the table had not been cleared after the last user, it was contaminated with an accumulation of sticky faun coloured paste like material, is stuck to arms and clothing if you rested your arms on the table top. A bit like a surface treatment gone wrong. Most unhygienic, or so it felt.

Gorgeous cake and big pot of tea, heaven! Very friendly staff, lovely atmosphere plus craft things to look at!

We arrived hungry just after 3 when their food service is usually closed. We were initially told no but were soon offered a selection of cold sandwiches (made to order) which were delicious. Highly recommended

We went a couple of weeks ago and had the cooked breakfast, it was delicious and cooked to perfection. The sausage was really meaty and good quality, normally I don't eat the sausage when we're out but I could tell straight away they were good quality not cheap rubbish that is usually served. The whole breakfast is very highly recommended, as is the gorgeous cream scones and cakes. We enjoyed it all so much we went back a few days later with some friends. This time I had the ploughmans and my husband had a panini, again everything was delicious and highly recommended. The staff are so lovely and very helpful, they do everything to make you as happy and comfortable as possible. It's a place for family's couples, buisiness and everyone inbetween. There is disabled access around the back, everyone is made very welcome.
