We booked this meal weeks in advance in the restaurant on arrival we were told it was closed on that day so we were out in the bar Why were we not told ? I travelled for two hours to sit on an uncomfortable seat squashed around a small table for five The pork fillet was dreadful dry veg absolutely bland no salt no greens carrots in water obviously microwaved uneatable Sweet was good which was fortunate as I hadn’t eaten the main course Other members had the pie mash which had no seasoning either very bland Coffee no machine only cafetière No paper in the loo Not a happy customer

Absolutely disgused by the way I was spoken to by the nasty old woman serving our food today. I can only assume that she is one of the owners as there's no way her behaviour towards a customer would have been tolerated otherwise. I ordered the 'homemade' pizza from the specials menu. I took a bite and instantly realised something tasted off, either the meat or the cheese. My partner tasted it and agreed. When the woman came to take our plates, she asked what was wrong with it. I explained it didn't taste right but wasn't sure whether it was the meat or the cheese. She proceeded to loudly question which it was while waving her arms around. I replied I didn't know as I'd just said, and that I didn't appreciate the way she was speaking to me. She then stormed off, still shouting, and suggested we leave. Absolutely gob smacked. New chef and some customer service training required here!

We spent one night in this pub and really enjoyed it. The room has its quirks, like the hot water takes a while to come out, but overall we were happy with it and had a great night sleep. We also had a meal at the pub and it was very good, the staff worked very hard and were very friendly.

Great pub. We are a group of 8 friends who live in different parts of England who try and meet up every December. Our original Derbyshire pub was flooded so we had to find another location that suited us all. We are so pleased we found this pub. We stayed overnight and sampled the dinner which we all enjoyed and the breakfast was great too and nice that it was table service. Staff were pleasant and friendly . Can’t fault it and we will certainly return .

We booked into the Dog and Partridge for a bite to eat on what turned out to be a beautiful day. We arrived earlier than our booking landing at 12:45pm, our booking wasn't until 3pm. I explained we were early but would take a walk and view the beautiful peaks around the pub. We still got back earlier than the booking but we were seated immediately. After looking at the menu and the variety of food on it, we both decided on a roast beef dinner. It came out within 5 minutes of ordering. The plates came out with a Yorkshire pudding and a generous amount of beef on it and accompanied with 2 serving platters with mash and roasties on one and buttered carrots and red cabbage on the other with a gravy boat of beautiful beef gravy. Afterwards we both had desserts and again wasn't disappointed. We'll done the team and yes we will be back to sample the rest.

Really nice pub and friendly staff (for the most part). Food wasn’t up to much, unfortunately. Pie top (never good) with really thick pastry which could have been rolled out to make a proper pie. Nice portion of meat, but gravy was weak. Nice fish but too few chips for the price. Very poor sticky toffee pudding served with cold custard. Mentioned to the waiting staff but he didn’t acknowledge it.

Stopped for food, tables reserved - oddly no reserved signs just cutlery which would make you think it’s for those wanting food. Beer is a good hand pull. Menus has notes saying sold out and when ordering the goats cheese tart was told it was Brie? Mixed grill - Childs portion, egg was as hard as a cricket ball and steak desperately overcooked. Struggled to see the gammon. Risotto was ok but drizzled with way too much balsamic vinegar. They are advertising for a chef so hopefully that was the reason food was so poor and it was a one off.

We try to visit once a month and are never disappointed.. Our latest visit was no exception, with the usual excellent food and service. Ambiance and the feel is that of a remote country pub, which it is. The vegetarian wellington was amazing. Had lunch here , my husband had the Mushroom Wellington which was presented lovely and he said was very tasty. I had The Ploughman's, but in reality was two slices of ham ( which was delicious) a dairlea size piece of cheese and a side salad, the "crusty" bread was a part bake roll which had been over baked to the point where I couldn't get my knife through it, I was given another one after asking for one, but as it was a bake as you need roll I'd finished my meal by the time it came. Terrible tea !!! Overpriced, small portions, average quality, poorly cooked. Kids pizza ok, another few minutes in oven & they wunt av been, my croque monsieur, ( which ive had many times ) just awful, not toasted, cheddar cheese used shud av been bechamel sauce, just soggy bread, want even a bloomer, then the chilli, O MY GOD !!! £17 for the smallest portion uve ever seen, thats wen i questioned r meal, asked if it was a lite bite portion ? the young man & woman who wer serving went 2 check, came back with a no thats the £17 portion, i sed well no way am i paying £17 for that, it was like a aldi ready meal in size & quality, cheap & cheerful, they took it back 2 the kitchen on r request 2 make tbe portion larger with no extra charge, my hubby was offered a free drink, he was drinking coke, which he declined, it was about the £17 chilli not a free drink, the whole teatime meal was a awful experience that cost with 2 cokes & a J20 £70 !!! The chef never came 2 the table 2 enquire about r complaints, it was left 2 the 2 young staff members who wer out of there depth. Will not be returning, had better food elsewhere @ better prices, chef needs 2 skill up, cubley needs 2 rethink food prices. 👎👎👎
