I used to love going to TGIs but this is the worst I've ever been to, the steak wasn't cooked to how I asked and it took forever to come out. The staff seemed miserable and it was dead inside which is not how TGIs used to be, I also thought it was far too expensive especially for drinks tbh I know there's rumours about this branch closing down and after this experience I wish it would so a decent restraunt could open up there.

Firstly we were seated at a dirty table on which my daughter ruined a new jacket with someone else’s BBQ sauce. The table which we were expected to eat at had a running fan heater actually bolted to the table top at one end of the table. We asked to be moved to another table which didn’t have a fan heater bolted to it. Before ordering I showed the waitress my telephone with a current special offer on TGI’s own website which said £25 off a £100 spend if you have the app which I did. However the waitress just kept asking me for the code over and over so I gave her my telephone with the app open and asked her to find the code to which she replied there is no code so there is no special offer. When I challenged how they could be tempting customers through their door with a none existent special offer she just turned her back and walked away. We left TGI,s and ate at Nando’s next door for half the price with excellent customer service.

Booked a table for 3 at 1915hrs. At 2015hrs, our food hadn't been served. I am allergic to Almonds, but noone asked about any food allergies. Food served at 2017hrs finally with all meat covered with parsley!!! Sweet potato fries cremated to death. Worst shop I've ever eaten in. My daughter ordered the Ultimate American Grill. Served with no chicken wings, corn, coleslaw and salad. Only informed when the food was brought in! Money down the drain! Worst meal and absolutely poor and slow service!!!

20 minute wait for 2 cokes and 2 milkshakes, then a further 25 minutes for two burgers with chips and 2 kids meals. Food was rubbish and not worth the wait AND certainly not worth £82. Staff said the wait was due to bottomless brunch even though the restaurant was only about 25% full. Will never visit again, poor on every level

TGI'S need to get some senior management in to sort this one out! It's been open a couple of years and it doesn't look like it's been cleaned since then! Went for the downtown/uptown menu, had to ask for it and the waitress didn't even know what we were talking about until we showed her the website. The atmosphere was drabs but still had more life in it than the staff! Smashed Burger was ok but no better than anywhere else that would be half the price and they should change the name of the cheese dippers/doughnuts to just dippers/doughnuts as there wasn't any cheese in sight! If I could have the contact details for someone at head office to make sure our experience is shared properly that would be greatly appreciated 👍

My partner and I came to this particular Fridays at the beginning of the week and will definitely be coming back! Had the sesame strips and potato skins to start which were so good. Followed by ribs and a burger. Food was all hot and fresh and the service was excellent (Lucy was our waitress- super helpful and cheery). We had a couple of cocktails too which were also delicious.

Very expensive and the food was just like pub meals. I don't know what the appeal is and why they think they can get away with the extortionate prices. Add to that, the plastic chairs/settee we were sat on was sticky. Only went as the daughter likes the ribs. And probably won't be visiting again.

Won't return. One member of the party was kept waiting for drinks and others got their second one. Felt a bit chaotic. Would also have preferred to be able to purchase a single cocktail not the 'fabulous' offer of 2 for 1. Reality means you're paying £16 for two and they have to be the same one even though they are all the same price. I guess it's to make you buy another two just for some variety. Again - let me purchase a single one at the real price. Food was underwhelming and expensive for what it is. A salad minus the protein for over £25. Want chicken with it? That's extra. I wish I'd taken a photo of the side one of the party got. It was I presume coleslaw but it was dry and dehydrated. A burger was missing some toppings. It just felt like an hassle. I won't be returning and I really wish I'd read some reviews on this place prior.

I would have put 0 stars but unfortunately I can’t. We had booked a table for 12 of us for my nephews birthday, all I can say is avoid the place, all 12 of our food was cold, we sent a the pasta back as it was freezing it come back the same temperature. This is actually disgusting service and the staff need a good telling, after we had our freezing food we complained to a member of staff who then said it’s been like it all day, which she should have not stated to her customers. How can the food be so poor if there was only us 12 in. Absolutely disgusting and I will not be returning

We arrived with no cutlery apart from three knives, these were dirty. Was waiting to be served, drinks came and the glass was dirty with bits in it. We then asked to order food and they had no rump steak or sirloin steak that we had asked for. This was told to us after we had ordered. We had to order something else, 30 minutes after ordering we was then told they didn’t have the other things we had ordered, the wings. The staff were miserable and seemed to be rude. They still tried charging us for the wings even though they didn’t have any and we had to change our order so had to be removed from the bill. This was appalling, especially giving we was paying £20+ for each meal.

Do yourself a favour don’t go to this place. Miserable girl at reception. A woeful waiter who forgot to take our order. In the end we left our dirty table and left. Wow. TGI was the place to go in the past, but not now. I’m staggered at how bad it was. Perhaps it’s because you are doing bottomless brunch they do delay tactics. Be shut down soon no doubt.

Unfortunately would not recommend the bottomless at all. Came for our anniversary to do a bottomless brunch, was seated quickly and were one of only a handful of tables in the venue at the time. We watched whilst the staff talked around the bar, and did not receive our first drink until 20 minutes after we had first sat down. In 2 hours, we only had 5 drinks each, and there were only 2 of us. This was disappointing, as we felt we might as well have come for a normal meal and would have been able to drink this amount of drinks for half the price, when selected cocktails are only £5 each. I will say the food was really good, and the service did get better, although it felt like this was only because we were sat around looking for a member of staff. Unfortunately I don’t feel this is something we would recommend, or do again, and felt it let down our anniversary slightly.

Having been to other branches of TGIs for celebrations my daughter chose the restaurant for a family birthday celebration, this was noted to be a special occasion on the booking form. Booking was for 2 hours before closing and we anticipated having 3 courses. We arrived a little early, were seated immediately and only 3 other tables occupied so anticipated good, fast service. Couldn't have been more wrong. Drinks and starters took half hour to arrive. Plates were cleared then came another long wait. After over half hour, with no apology for delay, I asked waitress how much longer before meals would be out. Without going to check she stated they were waiting for fries. By this time only 1 other family were left in and they were starting to clear up for night. I therefore asked why such slow service to which I got the response they were dealing with delivery orders. When food eventually came half fries very hot, other portions lukewarm, so only some of party got the freshly cooked ones. There was no option for dessert given, as by this time they were ready to close, bill just left in table as they took plates. No happy birthday greeting for my daughter and no birthday dessert, as we have received at other branches. It really felt like takeaway orders were the priority and no time for those dining in.

I ordered a takeaway, and I was given someone's order. I rang the store after I noticed that I had missing items, and the food looked different from what I ordered. I was told that the order was correct. I ordered sharing tgi Fridays chicken wings, and they looked burnt. I also ordered a full rack of classic bbq ribs and Jack Daniels ribs. Both ribs had herbs on them, I was not given any corn on the cob, salad, or extra sauce.

We visited yesterday for a friends hen do we did bottomless brunch and this was booked well in advance so they new there was going to be a party of 12. We sat down at 3pm and didn't get out 1st drink for 20 mins the food come out and this was cold. We kept asking for more drinks but these never came out we ended up with 3 drinks in the 1 hour and 45 mins we was in there. Service good, guy with the moustache was lovely. Didn't complain to him because he was such a nice lad. Food always incredibly hit and miss. Have been multiple times - it's either a stand out meal or something you could make better yourself at home. "Salad" is basically some musty lettuce and a bit of red cabbage, sauces served in plastic. Shrimp massively overbattered, pasta tough as if reheated. I am not blaming anyone who works here, I've worked in restaurant kitchens and I know how incredibly taxing of a job it is, but you simply cannot serve that to paying customers, not even at a chain. Used a 20% off voucher on 2 drinks 2 starters and 2 mains and it still came to 55 quid. I don't know if this is an issue that's come from the kitchen or if it's above them but the aim of my review is to alert management and get the consistency and quality sorted for future customers. The consistency issue is unique to the Barnsley branch.

Never usually leave a review, but we had a terrible meal here. The staff were nice enough, but they got our order wrong and the food that came was covered in all the same spicy seasoning, making the food all taste the same. We said to the waiter we didn’t order this, and they said ‘well its bigger so…’ as it was a sharing platter we hadn’t ordered. We ordered the sesame chicken strips. The appetisers had loads of chillies on it, and the stuffed vegan potato skins with fake bacon on? Awful tiny bits of potato that looked like they had sat in the kitchen too long and heated up. Will not be coming back. We couldn’t wait to leave.

Came here on a spur of the moment thing. Chose here because TGI do what they do very well, ribs, burgers, a very good salad etc. Their staff training is all about making a visit a great experience. I was so wrong. The food took about half an hour to come out, the order was missing loaded fries upgrade and the burgers were barely luke warm. Everything went back, another half hour to cook and it was hot, but just disappointing, it was dry and badly put together, service was below average, they didn't seem to know what they were doing, nobody seemed to be in charge. It was an awful experience, the only positive was they were very attentive with drinks, which is a bonus these days. We won't be visiting a TGIs ever again.

Came here on a Saturday early evening. We were told there would be a ten minute wait and to wait at the bar. However it seemed there were empty tables they didn’t want to give us, probably to get us to buy the expensive drinks, and also lots of other people also waiting to be seated that has arrived before us. They seated us after 20 minutes. We then had to wait another 20 minutes to place an order. When the food arrived it was far from adequate! Nearly £20 for a main meal - what appeared to be small portion of cheap frozen chips and nuggets! Not worth the money at all, definitely not worth the long wait, the music was so loud and mostly aimed at people drinking in the bar, not the people trying to converse across a table with family and friends. We then wanted to pay and just get out of there, only to have to wait another 20 minutes for someone to bring the bill after having to ask multiple times. It appeared it either it wasn’t the severs section or they forgot, who knows but it’s badly organised, bad customer service, appalling food and one of the worst experiences we’ve had in a restaurant. I’m surprised a place like this is still open. Would not recommend!

We arrived and were seated very quickly but it took some time for the waiter to take our order after noticing people walking in after us getting their orders taken before us... that's when it went downhill. My wife and I ordered a share platter which on the menu said it was good enough to feed four people, when the "platter" arrived it was underwhelming to say the least. The portion was barely good enough for one person. Luckily we had ordered extra sides to make up for the quantity of food. Something that blew me away aswell was the prices of meals is quiet high. I don't mind paying top dollar for a good meal but I can't see myself paying almost £30 for a burger. Unfortunately our first time here was not good and we definitely will not be returning anytime soon.

We visited on Sunday 18th February 2024 at around 1pm for lunch. We stood waiting to be greeted for several minutes, a staff member then saw us and said “I’ll be with you in a minute”. Ten minutes passed, the staff member still in sight but had made no further effort to seat us. Then another staff member saw us and said “ just be a sec”, she wasn’t. Eventually this second member of staff showed us to a table at the far side of the restaurant, away from the all the other diners and then promptly forgot us. We sat and waited, no one made any further attempt to serve us before we left. No one asked why we were leaving or offered any apology, just let us walk out the door. There were 3 members of staff that we could see, none wanted to be there. In fact the second member of staff, looked at her watch and puffed as she spoke to us. I tried to explain why we were leaving but she didn’t seem interested. Why work in a restaurant, if you hate your job? You hate your customers? I rarely write reviews but the service was so bad, no that’s not right, it was non-existent. Give this place a miss, you could eat anywhere else and it would be better. Do not waste your money here. We went to the “Old George” coffee bar after we left. They showed how amazing service, a passion for food, operational standards should just come naturally - if you care.

What a disappointment. Warm flat overpriced drinks, 45 minutes wait for appetizers, then after had finished those, after another 45 minutes I managed to attract the attention of a waitress and asked where our food was. My partners was quite good, but mine was definitely substandard. I had a house salad which was just lettuce and chopped tomatoes. No dressing of any sort, as a side. We have visited other TGI Fridays which have been far busier and had better more efficient service. I definitely won't visit Barnsley again or recommend it.

We came for the first time last night and we were not impressed. When we arrived there was a woman speaking with the manager complaining about her experience. We ordered a share platter for starters and then steak and a rack of ribs. After waiting 45 minutes they brought the mains out and said they had forgotten the starters and could begin making them. I said not to bother as we had our mains already. I ordered a medium rare 8oz sirloin and the steak was over cooked, dry and tasted awful. The mushroom was flat cold and there was no tomato as described. I asked them to change it to the cheaper cut of steak and to make sure it wasn't over cooked. The manager was very apologetic and said she would bring an order of fries to eat whilst waiting. 20 minutes later they brought the fries out and by this point my partner had finished his meal. 10 minutes after they brought my meal and although the steak was tender and well seasoned it was rare and not medium as asked for. The manager discounted the food for us but it has completely put us off visiting the restaurant again. I'd just like to clarify I didn't have an issue with the restaurant staff as they were lovely about the situation and the waitress did apologise about forgetting to put our starter down but there is clearly an issue with the kitchen staff.

I visited this restaurant and ordered a child's meal along with their unlimited wings. The unlimited wings were served in sets of six, with about a 20-minute wait between each serving. (This was a limited time offer and there's no longer available) and Although the timing was a bit slower than expected, the taste more than made up for it. The Sesame honey-glazed wings were exceptionally delicious and sticky, while the Hoisin BBQ wings, while not outstanding, still offered decent flavor. The spicy wings, while not particularly spicy, had a delightful combination of flavors that left a lasting impression. The food was tasty, especially the flavorful wings, and the overall atmosphere was enjoyable. If you're looking for a place with good food and a lively ambiance, this restaurant is worth a visit. Just be prepared for a quite expensive price tag on the food.

Absolutely poor!! Do not waste your time or money!! Absolutely terrible food. the Worst burger I have ever been served. My husband ordered rack of hoisin ribs which were meant to come with fries, and dipping sauce, corn on the cob and coleslaw. It came with fries, and a pot of raw cabbage and carrot no mayonnaise. No corn on cob, no dipping sauce. When I questioned the coleslaw to the waitress I asked if it should be like that she said no it shouldn’t, and after a while replaced it. My husband then asked where his corn on cob and dipping sauce was she said they had run out. And after another wait brought him 3 onion rings instead. It didn’t come with hoisin sauce either as stated on menu. I ordered the glazed chicken burger, half the bread bun was empty and what was meant to be a succulent glazed chicken breast was burnt to a crisp, and dry, even the bread bun was burnt, I took one bite of it. It was like chewing cardboard. I would not feed it to the dog. They said they would discount the price of one of our meals but still wanted to charge us £35. My husband said we would pay for the drinks and fries as they were ok but nothing else. So they did refund the rest but we left massively disappointed and hungry. Have eaten at other tgi’s and it’s never been like this. We also ate at the Barnsley tgi’s just after it first opened and it wasn’t like this either. We will not waste our time returning in future. Absolutely poor for the price. The only positive I can say about the experience is the young lad that was our waiter, was spot on, friendly and polite.

Venue looks great and fun inside really nice . When seated there was food on some of the cutlery so had to ask for new ones but was given new ones straight away no problem . The service although there was about 3 tables in was extremely slow which did make the experience less enjoyable with kids getting inpatient. Kids food order came wrong were told they had run out of some stuff but were quick to change which was good. At the start of the meal we were told we could use our discount of free kids meal with any adults meal but when we came to pay we were told sorry I made a mistake you can’t use that which wasn’t really fair on us as it was the main reason we came. Food was nice and cocktails were good but overall a bit disappointed on the price and service .

Four adults for lunch Saturday. The food was cold, chicken tough and no more on our plates than if we had ordered starters and we ordered 4 main meals!! Absolute disgusting!! Ordered some food and our mains was missing. I rang to advise of this to be told I had to request a refund on the app and they wouldn't be sending the rest of our food out. The manager couldn't be arsed to get on the phone and just advised the girl I spoke to there's nothing else we can do. My missing items totalled to £34 and we only received the sides and dips. I wouldn't mind if it was just a few sides missing but it's the fact we've waited over an hour to be told they wouldn't send the rest out.

Been before with no issues but must have caught them on a bad day. Waited at the bar for 15 mins until served, and ordering food and having two cocktails made took another 10. The mojitos were made with vodka rather than rum, which they did replace however we had to wait another 15 minutes. The food came which was fine, except sweet potato fries brought instead of normal, but no cutlery and none to be found inside to grab so had to wait at bar again to ask for some. (Stupidly) ordered some ice cream which after 35 mins hadn’t come and it was 8pm and empty at this point so we asked if it was ready then 5 mins later as one of the group came out of the toilet they were thrust the bowls of ice cream and told to bring it to the table

We enjoy going to TGI’s that was until we went here! Service is terrible & although the waitress serving our table was friendly & polite it took ages for our drinks to arrive & nearly 45 mins for food!! We only ordered mains & this was on a Sunday evening with barely anybody in there. Then when the food did arrive our side order of loaded fries was missing so off she went to find out.. wait for it.. the excuse… the loaded fries had “gone through as a starter so then got bumped off” What the hell ??? To say this is a brand new restaurant it is very poor & needless to say I’ll stick to driving to Tinsley Branch near Meadowhall in future

Booked a table for lunch, was shown to table by a young lad. The table was very dirty, spilled sauces and melted chocolate ice cream allover surface and cutlery. Given full menus to look at but then told as lunchtime only approx a third of menu available. Surrounding tables left uncleared. Decided to leave and eat elsewhere. Prices high too. Not for me.

Visited a couple of times as enjoy the food at other branches and is convenient when not wanting to travel far however I think this will be the final time. I have given numerous chances for things to improve here but they never do. The atmosphere is dead, the service is slow or non existent and food is not up to TGI brand standards. Bottomless drinks - filled with ice (like every TGI’s), any other TGI’s I don’t even have to ask for a refill the waiter/waitress will either ask if I’d like another or in some cases have just kept me topped up… not in Barnsley. Feel like you’re begging for a drink from the staff here and take their time bringing it and on the occasions I have visited have never been busy compared to other TGI venues. Main menu food- on each visit have had something not right with my food whether it be cold, missing sauces/ dips or not coming with usual side salad. May seem petty but these things make the dishes for me in a chain restaurant when you know what you’re expecting yet don’t receive in Barnsley. Children’s menu- the veg which comes with the meal is always dried up carrots that look so unappetising, no wonder my child always leaves them. Beans don’t get stirred after heating and can see the juice all clumped together on the top of the pot. Always have to ask for colouring packs in Barnsley whereas other TGI venues have either automatically given when seated or have asked if we would like one. Air con is always on freezing which doesn’t help the food staying warm especially when they try bringing mains out whilst still eating your starters (meaning it is left on the side and not fresh). No atmosphere whatsoever, the staff are just not up to TGI standard in terms of attentiveness and it has been the same from opening. I have given a few chances over time for these things to iron out but unfortunately it is not an enjoyable experience and we will have to save our TGI visits for other venues where great food and service is more guaranteed. It is such a shame as we do enjoy TGI’s, and the Barnsley venue is much more convenient as well as being able to enjoy the regeneration works of our lovely town, but we have been let down.

Was over charged, didn't realise until after I'd already paid on my card that it was steep for what we had, then realised the 2 courses for £22 offer hadn't been applied, told the waiter, who then told the manager who told me the difference would be refunded to my card, but it wasn't. Food was alright, I really enjoyed the hot chicken wings I had for a starter, the chicken burger was alright. it was quiet when we went, they were quick at replenishing the bottomless drinks and we're quite attentive. Don't think I'll be in a hurry to return though.

Went here for my birthday and was very disappointed! For the prices, it’s not acceptable! First of all had to wait 10 minutes at the front to be seated (it was very quiet) then we had to wait a further 10/15 minutes just for our drinks. After this, we then waited 55 minutes for our food. If the place was busy I’d understand but there were tumbleweeds going through the place! I ordered the Cajun chicken pasta and was informed that there was no seasoning for the chicken but the pasta was the same which I was okay with. When it came, it was tomato pasta with a bit of chicken on top. No peppers, just chopped tomato’s and a tomato sauce - unacceptable! If I wanted tomato pasta I could have made it better at home. The fries were cold. The portion sizes were disappointing and the Pepsi was flatter than water and of course mostly ice. No one came to ask if our food was okay either.

Very poor. Staff were rude and clueless. Red haired server ignored me and only took notice of my boyfriend. Took forever for food to come out. Upgraded to sweet potato fries which came out burnt. When asked if everything is okay with meals she completely ignored me. Other than that, it was untidy unclean and wasn't even that busy. It wasn’t particularly busy, we ordered at 16:00 bottomless drinks one starter and 2 mains. The first drink came quickly but had to try and find a staff member to get a refill which took 15 mins to come. The starter then took 40 mins to come bear in mind we only ordered mozzarella sticks to share. It took ages for our dirty dishes to be taken away. Our mains still didn’t come 20 mins later and I had to find someone to ask when they were coming to be told be another few mins. The food itself was ok could have been warmer felt like it had been sitting out for a while. Won’t be going back

My little boy loves chicken but even he wouldn't eat the dry offerings from this place, entered the ahem restaurant and waited 5 minutes before being seated (had about 5 tables with customers) sat down, so pretty empty, ordered food, this came pretty quickly (about 5 minutes after order was taken) this is where it fell apart, kids had chicken strips with two sides, decent portion size on the chicken and chips/fries but the smallest thimble of beans with what looked like a teaspoon of beans inside, I cut my sons strips up for him and he had one bite and turned to his broccoli and chips, my chicken burger looked surprisingly tasty, let down by a dry bun and overcooked chicken, the dirty fries were excellent though, I tasted my little boys chicken strips and yep, dry as the Sahara, my wee lass could only eat 2 of the 4 she had on her plate stating she was full, those were also dry and my little girl was only trying to be polite, something makes me think the establishment, pre cooks things and just bangs them in a microwave to reheat them, won't be back to this one as its the complete opposite of standard to other TGIs I've been to

I took my daughter here for a birthday treat as it was her 12th birthday. Pre-booked a seat with ease online. I was pleased to see on their booking form preparations for anyone with food allergies. Upon entering the restaurant, we were politely greeted by a member of staff, who then proceeded to guide us to our table. Another member of staff followed shortly afterwards, who was polite and attentive (Harley), He checked with us if anyone had any allergies, to which I explained my daughter had a specific nut allergy. He the n explained he would need to speak to his manager. (TOM).He came back with the manager, who was also extremely polite and showed attention to detail about any risk factors concerning their in-house menu. This is by far the first time I have ever experienced such precise care in any outlet concerning a food allergy. I can not commend this establishment enough. My daughter was given a slice of birthday cake, and two members of staff sang a quirky birthday song, making a public announcement that it was her birthday. Two seconds later (Tom) the manager, came running back to our table, looking wrought with concern, and explained that because he couldn't verify if the cake was nut free, my daughter could be at risk. Honestly, I've never seen someone look so worried. You clearly care about your customers, and I feel strongly that you should be recognised for your outstanding professionalism. Thank you for making our day extra special. The food is absolutely amazing. We will definitely be returning.

Popped in here after the cinema 28/05 on the off chance we didn't have to book a table. Being a Sunday, it was relatively quiet, We were greeted politely by a member of staff and taken to the table. Within a few minutes, we were asked what beverages we would like, and we were also ready to order too, so it was a simple process. Food arrived and was really nice, didn't take a picture, was too hungry 🙂. My wife and I had the Fridays Messy Cheeseburger, which did live up to its name! My son had the hot dog from the children's menu. The staff were polite and friendly, we had to find someone to pay though, as the waitress started clearing and left our sons plate, which I thought would be an opportunity to ask for the bill. This is only a minor glitch, though, and wouldn't put us off going back.

Have dined here a couple of times now and have been blown away each time. The place is sometimes very quiet but I have no idea why as it is great. Staff are extremely attentive and friendly. The food is delicious - always fresh, hot and plenty of it (especially for the price). We have tried the Chicago chicken, ribs, beef burger and chicken burger and have all been lovely. Good dessert selection too. Definitely recommend!
