Service is the worst I’ve ever experienced. Took 20 minutes to take our order, another 30 minutes later drinks hadn’t even come. Brought the wrong drinks three times, wrong fries twice and completely forgot we’d ordered wings. All incompetent at their jobs. If I could give a 0 I would. Never again

Came here on a spur of the moment thing. Chose here because TGI do what they do very well, ribs, burgers, a very good salad etc. Their staff training is all about making a visit a great experience. I was so wrong. The food took about half an hour to come out, the order was missing loaded fries upgrade and the burgers were barely luke warm. Everything went back, another half hour to cook and it was hot, but just disappointing, it was dry and badly put together, service was below average, they didn't seem to know what they were doing, nobody seemed to be in charge. It was an awful experience, the only positive was they were very attentive with drinks, which is a bonus these days. We won't be visiting a TGIs ever again.

Came here on a Saturday early evening. We were told there would be a ten minute wait and to wait at the bar. However it seemed there were empty tables they didn’t want to give us, probably to get us to buy the expensive drinks, and also lots of other people also waiting to be seated that has arrived before us. They seated us after 20 minutes. We then had to wait another 20 minutes to place an order. When the food arrived it was far from adequate! Nearly £20 for a main meal - what appeared to be small portion of cheap frozen chips and nuggets! Not worth the money at all, definitely not worth the long wait, the music was so loud and mostly aimed at people drinking in the bar, not the people trying to converse across a table with family and friends. We then wanted to pay and just get out of there, only to have to wait another 20 minutes for someone to bring the bill after having to ask multiple times. It appeared it either it wasn’t the severs section or they forgot, who knows but it’s badly organised, bad customer service, appalling food and one of the worst experiences we’ve had in a restaurant. I’m surprised a place like this is still open. Would not recommend!

Disappointed. Service was good but they were seriously overpriced for what we got. The food was average, a platter 'for four' was just enough for 2, my mouth basically fell to the floor when it was served. And the booths were very tight and uncomfortable to sit in. Overcharging customers will not keep your business afloat. Won't be back

We arrived and were seated very quickly but it took some time for the waiter to take our order after noticing people walking in after us getting their orders taken before us... that's when it went downhill. My wife and I ordered a share platter which on the menu said it was good enough to feed four people, when the "platter" arrived it was underwhelming to say the least. The portion was barely good enough for one person. Luckily we had ordered extra sides to make up for the quantity of food. Something that blew me away aswell was the prices of meals is quiet high. I don't mind paying top dollar for a good meal but I can't see myself paying almost £30 for a burger. Unfortunately our first time here was not good and we definitely will not be returning anytime soon.

We visited on Sunday 18th February 2024 at around 1pm for lunch. We stood waiting to be greeted for several minutes, a staff member then saw us and said “I’ll be with you in a minute”. Ten minutes passed, the staff member still in sight but had made no further effort to seat us. Then another staff member saw us and said “ just be a sec”, she wasn’t. Eventually this second member of staff showed us to a table at the far side of the restaurant, away from the all the other diners and then promptly forgot us. We sat and waited, no one made any further attempt to serve us before we left. No one asked why we were leaving or offered any apology, just let us walk out the door. There were 3 members of staff that we could see, none wanted to be there. In fact the second member of staff, looked at her watch and puffed as she spoke to us. I tried to explain why we were leaving but she didn’t seem interested. Why work in a restaurant, if you hate your job? You hate your customers? I rarely write reviews but the service was so bad, no that’s not right, it was non-existent. Give this place a miss, you could eat anywhere else and it would be better. Do not waste your money here. We went to the “Old George” coffee bar after we left. They showed how amazing service, a passion for food, operational standards should just come naturally - if you care.

What a disappointment. Warm flat overpriced drinks, 45 minutes wait for appetizers, then after had finished those, after another 45 minutes I managed to attract the attention of a waitress and asked where our food was. My partners was quite good, but mine was definitely substandard. I had a house salad which was just lettuce and chopped tomatoes. No dressing of any sort, as a side. We have visited other TGI Fridays which have been far busier and had better more efficient service. I definitely won't visit Barnsley again or recommend it.

We came for the first time last night and we were not impressed. When we arrived there was a woman speaking with the manager complaining about her experience. We ordered a share platter for starters and then steak and a rack of ribs. After waiting 45 minutes they brought the mains out and said they had forgotten the starters and could begin making them. I said not to bother as we had our mains already. I ordered a medium rare 8oz sirloin and the steak was over cooked, dry and tasted awful. The mushroom was flat cold and there was no tomato as described. I asked them to change it to the cheaper cut of steak and to make sure it wasn't over cooked. The manager was very apologetic and said she would bring an order of fries to eat whilst waiting. 20 minutes later they brought the fries out and by this point my partner had finished his meal. 10 minutes after they brought my meal and although the steak was tender and well seasoned it was rare and not medium as asked for. The manager discounted the food for us but it has completely put us off visiting the restaurant again. I'd just like to clarify I didn't have an issue with the restaurant staff as they were lovely about the situation and the waitress did apologise about forgetting to put our starter down but there is clearly an issue with the kitchen staff.

I visited this restaurant and ordered a child's meal along with their unlimited wings. The unlimited wings were served in sets of six, with about a 20-minute wait between each serving. (This was a limited time offer and there's no longer available) and Although the timing was a bit slower than expected, the taste more than made up for it. The Sesame honey-glazed wings were exceptionally delicious and sticky, while the Hoisin BBQ wings, while not outstanding, still offered decent flavor. The spicy wings, while not particularly spicy, had a delightful combination of flavors that left a lasting impression. The food was tasty, especially the flavorful wings, and the overall atmosphere was enjoyable. If you're looking for a place with good food and a lively ambiance, this restaurant is worth a visit. Just be prepared for a quite expensive price tag on the food.

Went for the bottomless brunch on a works Christmas party. We were advised beforehand that the heating was broken. Aside from being a little cold through the evening we had no problems. Food was fine, especially the fries, and drinks orders were taken and delivered quickly.

Absolutely poor!! Do not waste your time or money!! Absolutely terrible food. the Worst burger I have ever been served. My husband ordered rack of hoisin ribs which were meant to come with fries, and dipping sauce, corn on the cob and coleslaw. It came with fries, and a pot of raw cabbage and carrot no mayonnaise. No corn on cob, no dipping sauce. When I questioned the coleslaw to the waitress I asked if it should be like that she said no it shouldn’t, and after a while replaced it. My husband then asked where his corn on cob and dipping sauce was she said they had run out. And after another wait brought him 3 onion rings instead. It didn’t come with hoisin sauce either as stated on menu. I ordered the glazed chicken burger, half the bread bun was empty and what was meant to be a succulent glazed chicken breast was burnt to a crisp, and dry, even the bread bun was burnt, I took one bite of it. It was like chewing cardboard. I would not feed it to the dog. They said they would discount the price of one of our meals but still wanted to charge us £35. My husband said we would pay for the drinks and fries as they were ok but nothing else. So they did refund the rest but we left massively disappointed and hungry. Have eaten at other tgi’s and it’s never been like this. We also ate at the Barnsley tgi’s just after it first opened and it wasn’t like this either. We will not waste our time returning in future. Absolutely poor for the price. The only positive I can say about the experience is the young lad that was our waiter, was spot on, friendly and polite.

During our visit, there was a heating failure, so it was cold and we ate in jackets. A very big disappointment. I've eaten at other restaurants in this chain and it was good, but Barnsley has a lot of room for improvement

Venue looks great and fun inside really nice . When seated there was food on some of the cutlery so had to ask for new ones but was given new ones straight away no problem . The service although there was about 3 tables in was extremely slow which did make the experience less enjoyable with kids getting inpatient. Kids food order came wrong were told they had run out of some stuff but were quick to change which was good. At the start of the meal we were told we could use our discount of free kids meal with any adults meal but when we came to pay we were told sorry I made a mistake you can’t use that which wasn’t really fair on us as it was the main reason we came. Food was nice and cocktails were good but overall a bit disappointed on the price and service .

Four adults for lunch Saturday. The food was cold, chicken tough and no more on our plates than if we had ordered starters and we ordered 4 main meals!! Basically paid an extra £10 each for cold flavourless fries. Drinks were ridiculously priced cost £115 in total what an absolute rip off. Will definitely not be going again or recommending TGI's to anyone.

Absolute disgusting!! Ordered some food and our mains was missing. I rang to advise of this to be told I had to request a refund on the app and they wouldn't be sending the rest of our food out. The manager couldn't be arsed to get on the phone and just advised the girl I spoke to there's nothing else we can do. My missing items totalled to £34 and we only received the sides and dips. I wouldn't mind if it was just a few sides missing but it's the fact we've waited over an hour to be told they wouldn't send the rest out.

Been before with no issues but must have caught them on a bad day. Waited at the bar for 15 mins until served, and ordering food and having two cocktails made took another 10. The mojitos were made with vodka rather than rum, which they did replace however we had to wait another 15 minutes. The food came which was fine, except sweet potato fries brought instead of normal, but no cutlery and none to be found inside to grab so had to wait at bar again to ask for some. (Stupidly) ordered some ice cream which after 35 mins hadn’t come and it was 8pm and empty at this point so we asked if it was ready then 5 mins later as one of the group came out of the toilet they were thrust the bowls of ice cream and told to bring it to the table

We enjoy going to TGI’s that was until we went here! Service is terrible & although the waitress serving our table was friendly & polite it took ages for our drinks to arrive & nearly 45 mins for food!! We only ordered mains & this was on a Sunday evening with barely anybody in there. Then when the food did arrive our side order of loaded fries was missing so off she went to find out.. wait for it.. the excuse… the loaded fries had “gone through as a starter so then got bumped off” What the hell ??? To say this is a brand new restaurant it is very poor & needless to say I’ll stick to driving to Tinsley Branch near Meadowhall in future

Booked a table for lunch, was shown to table by a young lad. The table was very dirty, spilled sauces and melted chocolate ice cream allover surface and cutlery. Given full menus to look at but then told as lunchtime only approx a third of menu available. Surrounding tables left uncleared. Decided to leave and eat elsewhere. Prices high too. Not for me.

Visited a couple of times as enjoy the food at other branches and is convenient when not wanting to travel far however I think this will be the final time. I have given numerous chances for things to improve here but they never do. The atmosphere is dead, the service is slow or non existent and food is not up to TGI brand standards. Bottomless drinks - filled with ice (like every TGI’s), any other TGI’s I don’t even have to ask for a refill the waiter/waitress will either ask if I’d like another or in some cases have just kept me topped up… not in Barnsley. Feel like you’re begging for a drink from the staff here and take their time bringing it and on the occasions I have visited have never been busy compared to other TGI venues. Main menu food- on each visit have had something not right with my food whether it be cold, missing sauces/ dips or not coming with usual side salad. May seem petty but these things make the dishes for me in a chain restaurant when you know what you’re expecting yet don’t receive in Barnsley. Children’s menu- the veg which comes with the meal is always dried up carrots that look so unappetising, no wonder my child always leaves them. Beans don’t get stirred after heating and can see the juice all clumped together on the top of the pot. Always have to ask for colouring packs in Barnsley whereas other TGI venues have either automatically given when seated or have asked if we would like one. Air con is always on freezing which doesn’t help the food staying warm especially when they try bringing mains out whilst still eating your starters (meaning it is left on the side and not fresh). No atmosphere whatsoever, the staff are just not up to TGI standard in terms of attentiveness and it has been the same from opening. I have given a few chances over time for these things to iron out but unfortunately it is not an enjoyable experience and we will have to save our TGI visits for other venues where great food and service is more guaranteed. It is such a shame as we do enjoy TGI’s, and the Barnsley venue is much more convenient as well as being able to enjoy the regeneration works of our lovely town, but we have been let down.

Was over charged, didn't realise until after I'd already paid on my card that it was steep for what we had, then realised the 2 courses for £22 offer hadn't been applied, told the waiter, who then told the manager who told me the difference would be refunded to my card, but it wasn't. Food was alright, I really enjoyed the hot chicken wings I had for a starter, the chicken burger was alright. it was quiet when we went, they were quick at replenishing the bottomless drinks and we're quite attentive. Don't think I'll be in a hurry to return though.

Went here for my birthday and was very disappointed! For the prices, it’s not acceptable! First of all had to wait 10 minutes at the front to be seated (it was very quiet) then we had to wait a further 10/15 minutes just for our drinks. After this, we then waited 55 minutes for our food. If the place was busy I’d understand but there were tumbleweeds going through the place! I ordered the Cajun chicken pasta and was informed that there was no seasoning for the chicken but the pasta was the same which I was okay with. When it came, it was tomato pasta with a bit of chicken on top. No peppers, just chopped tomato’s and a tomato sauce - unacceptable! If I wanted tomato pasta I could have made it better at home. The fries were cold. The portion sizes were disappointing and the Pepsi was flatter than water and of course mostly ice. No one came to ask if our food was okay either.

Ordered 2 sirloin steak’s at £25 each thinking you get a fare good plate of food well I was so wrong thin piece of steak with fries an 1 mushroom which was cold and a free sauce yes free 😄 small coke and medium glass of wine which we took back as the glass was broken that took ages was around 10 in the whole place I wounded why . Waiter ask how was the food well of course that was just darn right expensive for what was on the plate ! (Waiter ) so sorry for that will tell the chef thanks for your opinion now your bill is £65 😱 sorry but you defo won’t get our custom ever again .what a total ripoff 😟

Very poor. Staff were rude and clueless. Red haired server ignored me and only took notice of my boyfriend. Took forever for food to come out. Upgraded to sweet potato fries which came out burnt. When asked if everything is okay with meals she completely ignored me. Other than that, it was untidy unclean and wasn't even that busy. Put everyone in the same place so the meal was an intolerable atmosphere.

It wasn’t particularly busy, we ordered at 16:00 bottomless drinks one starter and 2 mains. The first drink came quickly but had to try and find a staff member to get a refill which took 15 mins to come. The starter then took 40 mins to come bear in mind we only ordered mozzarella sticks to share. It took ages for our dirty dishes to be taken away. Our mains still didn’t come 20 mins later and I had to find someone to ask when they were coming to be told be another few mins. The food itself was ok could have been warmer felt like it had been sitting out for a while. Won’t be going back

My little boy loves chicken but even he wouldn't eat the dry offerings from this place, entered the ahem restaurant and waited 5 minutes before being seated (had about 5 tables with customers) sat down, so pretty empty, ordered food, this came pretty quickly (about 5 minutes after order was taken) this is where it fell apart, kids had chicken strips with two sides, decent portion size on the chicken and chips/fries but the smallest thimble of beans with what looked like a teaspoon of beans inside, I cut my sons strips up for him and he had one bite and turned to his broccoli and chips, my chicken burger looked surprisingly tasty, let down by a dry bun and overcooked chicken, the dirty fries were excellent though, I tasted my little boys chicken strips and yep, dry as the Sahara, my wee lass could only eat 2 of the 4 she had on her plate stating she was full, those were also dry and my little girl was only trying to be polite, something makes me think the establishment, pre cooks things and just bangs them in a microwave to reheat them, won't be back to this one as its the complete opposite of standard to other TGIs I've been to

Had a great time at bottomless brunch for a friends birthday. Tom, our server, was great at getting our food and drink ordered. And was a great sport when we sang happy birthday to our friend. Highly recommend the place as a dinner restaurant but also a fun time for friends to get together. Great entertainment with a live singer too. Overall 5/5!!!!!

I took my daughter here for a birthday treat as it was her 12th birthday. Pre-booked a seat with ease online. I was pleased to see on their booking form preparations for anyone with food allergies. Upon entering the restaurant, we were politely greeted by a member of staff, who then proceeded to guide us to our table. Another member of staff followed shortly afterwards, who was polite and attentive (Harley), He checked with us if anyone had any allergies, to which I explained my daughter had a specific nut allergy. He the n explained he would need to speak to his manager. (TOM).He came back with the manager, who was also extremely polite and showed attention to detail about any risk factors concerning their in-house menu. This is by far the first time I have ever experienced such precise care in any outlet concerning a food allergy. I can not commend this establishment enough. My daughter was given a slice of birthday cake, and two members of staff sang a quirky birthday song, making a public announcement that it was her birthday. Two seconds later (Tom) the manager, came running back to our table, looking wrought with concern, and explained that because he couldn't verify if the cake was nut free, my daughter could be at risk. Honestly, I've never seen someone look so worried. You clearly care about your customers, and I feel strongly that you should be recognised for your outstanding professionalism. Thank you for making our day extra special. The food is absolutely amazing. We will definitely be returning.

Popped in here after the cinema 28/05 on the off chance we didn't have to book a table. Being a Sunday, it was relatively quiet, We were greeted politely by a member of staff and taken to the table. Within a few minutes, we were asked what beverages we would like, and we were also ready to order too, so it was a simple process. Food arrived and was really nice, didn't take a picture, was too hungry 🙂. My wife and I had the Fridays Messy Cheeseburger, which did live up to its name! My son had the hot dog from the children's menu. The staff were polite and friendly, we had to find someone to pay though, as the waitress started clearing and left our sons plate, which I thought would be an opportunity to ask for the bill. This is only a minor glitch, though, and wouldn't put us off going back.

It’s really poor!! We ordered food & drinks at 7.30, by 8.10 we had eaten starters (which were actually good) but not received our drinks despite having asked twice. When these finally did arrive there wasn’t any apology or acknowledgment that it took over 45 min to bring 4 drinks. When the food arrived the kids meals were served with shrivelled up bits of cucumber and carrot, which were at least 2 days past edible. The fries to one burger were burnt to a crisp and the kids portion of beans was laughable. They did discount the bill but that’s not why you go out for meal. The place is not worth it in the slightest, other TGI’s are much better.

It all started well, we were greeted and seated straight away in what appeared to be quite an empty restaurant. We soon discovered that this is lacking from the usual excellent TGI experience felt in other restaurants. We had booked in for the play off football so we're a bit anxious not to be waiting too long. Service started well and our server was lovely, however all my friends received their cocktails one after the other and my coke zero never appeared. After they had nearly finished their drinks I got fed up of trying to get the waitress to even look near us let alone check on us, and went to the bar to ask for it myself. The lad behind the bar was semi -apologetic but just blamed the waitress. Just after that our food came, there were no problems with the speed of the food. In fact they had just cleared our starters and the mains started coming. This says to me though thar communication isn't what it should be. The mains had obviously been sat a little because the chips were not hot. They were warm enough to eat though so we didn't complain. Having been to 5 or 6 different TGIs across the country I was very underwhelmed and it was clear to me as someone who has worked in hospitality that there was nobody on the floor acting as a manager and telling the staff what to do. Maybe a sign of the times but disappointing still.

Went here before watching the Mario Movie at Cineworld Barnsley. The food was cooked brilliantly by our chef, Fraser (what a lovely young man and a credit to TGI Friday brand!) the decor of this TGI is absolutely beautiful, it feels like you are in New York city. Perfect date night location, and great cocktails too!

WOW!!! If I could rate zero stars I would have! I thought we had accidentally walked into Karen’s diner. The big girl with brown hair had a face like a smacked you know what.. didn’t smile once. We were made to feel awkward and out of place. Not ONE person we interacted with smiled or gave us the usual tgis friendly attitude. Bottomless brunch was pointless,every where else it’s 3 starters and unlimited cocktails.. not here,you have to share the 3 starters! Manager didn’t have a clue and his customer service skills were non existent,it was like he wanted a fight! We waited 1 hour and 25 mins for the food,which then had to be sent back due to being freezing.Just poor poor customer service. Will never visit here again And tell absolutely everyone we know to avoid

The Tiger fries are unreal. But as always had the staple sesame chicken which is my favourite. It’s nice there is now a TGI in Barnsley instead of having to travel to elsewhere.

So.... The service was diabolical. When we finally ordered drinks, 10 minutes later I could still see the drinks sat on the bar so I had to go and collect them myself. Same with the food and it wasn't even busy. The food to me was standard. The Friday cheese burger or whatever they are called... I could have made them at home. Very disappointed. One lad who I ordered a guiness from didn't even know how to work the guiness machine so had to wait for someone else to come and do it. And it didn't take just seconds for him to do it, we was still waiting 10 minutes later for the drink. Best part about the whole visit today was the sauce that came in a pot next to my burger.... oh and the cocktail was alright. Won't be visiting this branch again. Manger needs to get his staff sorted out and trained properly. Honestly, my 1st time visiting and I will not be going again and that a promise!!

Was seated quickly, staff came to take drink orders, my partner got his drink almost straight away, I waited 5 minutes for my drink and then I decided to tell the member of staff that was constantly hovering over our table that I had also ordered a drink and she turned around and with an attitude she said yes I know it will come, so I waited another 5 minutes and it did eventually come no apology or anything. Food we ordered was less satisfying than shopping at your local food bank. I also felt like I couldn’t have a conversation with my partner as the member of staff that was assigned to our table might aswell have pulled up a chair and joined in as she was constantly breathing down the back of my neck. I definitely will not be dining here again.

Ordered via Deliveroo and told a 55 minute wait. After 60 mins our meals arrived and i have no complaints against Deliveroo as the fault was all TGI’s. We ordered a JD chicken strips starter, and 2 burger meals. 1 Louisiana Hot Mess with fries and a Glazed Burger with fries with a specific request for no mayonnaise or pickles on this one as my partner has an intolerance to mayonnaise. Our food arrived after 1 hour and we had the following - 1 x Louisiana Hot Mess burger without the hot sauce (so chicken and pickles essentially), 1 portion of cold, dry, fries. And 1 x Glazed Burger COVERED in mayonnaise and pickles. Missing a whole portion of fries and our entire starter. We then contacted the store who apologised but stated their only remedy was for someone to come and collect. We’d just opened a drink and settled down for the evening so my partner was rightly annoyed he had nothing he could eat, and had to trek across town to try and sort this out. I reluctantly ate my dry cold chips and dry burger prepared not as described, as we’d waited so long already. He then came home with his burger and the chicken strips 40 minutes later. We were offered nothing to reimburse us for our inconvenience and the second attempt (the replacement) glazed burger was so overdone it was inedible. You’d think if someone had complained already you’d make sure the second version was spot on. We was so fed up by this point. We’d ordered 2 hours ago and still no enjoyable meal between us, for almost £40 and a wasted journey of fuel (15 minute journey) We have never had issues like this with any other branch of TGI’s, but it has put us off majorly. Someone needs to quality control the orders!

Came for mother’s days for my mother in law. Had a table booked for half 6, we got there a little early (6:15) was told that the previous people were just paying their bill,so we waited at the bar and ordered drinks. Waited about 15 minutes after our booking, ask a server and they told us the same thing as when we first arrived. We waited until About 6:55 then ended up asking for some cups to take out drinks away. Not one server apologised for our wait while we were there or when we ended up leaving because we were left waiting for so long. It wasn’t even busy when we were there. Usually don’t write bad reviews but to be kept waiting half an hour after a booking is terrible. Won’t be coming back to this one again. Such a disappointing first visit. Avoid…

As much as I’d love to write a good review about this place I just can’t. Me and my partner both ordered the meatless Fridays sesame strips and they came out so hard you could hardly put your fork in them. To top it off the ‘slaw’ that it came with smelled and tasted like it was off as it was overly sour - I literally had to spit it out. The service wasn’t great and the waiter weren’t attentive. I had a bottomless drink and had to go up to the bar twice to get it refilled. The only saving grace to this visit was the manager Tom who was sincere and apologetic about our experience and offered us free food to make up for the bad ones we had. We declined and only paid for our drinks. While the food and service wasn’t great and more training is required of the floor staff, Tom made up for our bad experience with his attentiveness! Hats off to him!

Really disappointed in my visit Sunday 19th February. We had to stand in the entrance for a while because no one was manning the front desk. The area smells like BO and is not pleasant. It was relatively quiet but still took ages to get served. All the staff where just wondering around looking lost. When the food came it was bland and boring. My wife left most of hers because the vegetables tastes sour. It took ages to get the bill too because all the staff seemed to disappear at once. Will not be returning.

Our first visit to Barnsley TGI’s, I would say to anyone don’t bother..they didn’t have certain drinks & items of food we ordered, which actually were fine we choose something else, we waiting around an hour for our food to come out, we were never asked if we wanted another drink we had to call a waitress over, it wasn’t even a busy night, plenty of staff, my thoughts are they are too young & not been trained in customer service !
