A lovely walk on the hills followed by a delicious meal at a local pub. Dog friendly with a relaxed environment. Highly recommend for all those thirsty walkers

Had a wonderful meal there yesterday lunch time 29th December. The food was excellent, only surpassed by the friendly and thoughtful service given by Vicky Chris and Heather, who made sure my friend, husband and myself were seated in a comfortable, warm, untroubled part of their charming Inn. We had a truly special and unforgettable afternoon. Highly recommend. Thank you...kindest regards Ms Martin-Payne

Literally stumbled on this pub when visiting the area, not our usual style but we were in for an extremely pleasant surprise. Definitely not the cosy atmosphere we normally go for but the hospitality of the landlady more than made up for that. A limited menu, well it was New Year's Day night, but what we had was superb. A gorgeous homemade steak and ale pie with proper pastry and not a out of the freezer type puff pastry mouthful of nothing, chips to die for too. His nibs had fish and chips with the best batter ever, his words! Excellent value for money and it was a pity that it was closed the next time we passed but a definite return visit if we are in the area again.

What a lovely pub as soon as you walk in there is a warm atmosphere. The fire burning in the background and laughter coming from the tables it reminded us of a proper pub. Now onto the food we had the steak sharing plater, the food was amazing so fresh and tasty the steak was mouthwatering. The staff were excellent and you didn’t wait on anything. So well done Jason and his team for an amazing meal. Also to the team at the oak we will definitely be back.

The Sunday buffet lunch was very disappointing. Two of our party are vegetarian and the tofu option was constantly empty. Also no sign of the mushroom soup at any point. Also lack of fresh fruit in the dessert area. The restaurant was very busy indeed and the servers slow to clear plates. It was unclear where we could return them ourselves so I approached one server with a stack of plates asking where to put them and she looked straight through me! Obviously stressed, poor thing.

Really hoped that this would be another good cafe in the village, but I was sadly disappointed. Very, very limited choice of cakes. Sausage rolls did look tasty, but too early in the day to try them. Two coffees ordered, both served tepid warm. Returned to counter and offered replacements. Again, not very hot at all, I could have drunk mine in one gulp which shows how cold it was. Was their machine not working properly, lack of staff concern? Please, please try to sort it out as we would love you to succeed in the village.

We are local so have never had cause to stay here but what a wonderful hotel Colwall Park is. The staff are always so friendly and helpful. We have enjoyed a number of events here and the bar, restaurant, seated garden area and events room are all tastefully decorated and welcoming with a nice ambience. The food has always been enjoyable. And the bar has a great selection of drinks, including tasty local bar snacks. We enjoyed bringing in the new year with brilliant talented singer Polly Edwards, delicious canapés and fizz. All in all a real asset to the village, lucky us! THANK YOU!!

Utterly disappointing afternoon tea! Festive afternoon tea served on one plate. Cakes thrown on plate ( literally on their sides) some laying in the egg from the sandwiches. Booked for 5….. not enough sandwiches or tea. Utterly disappointing. Waste of money. Ruined a special occasion. Avoid.
