Dinner for 6 friends on a summer evening in a restaurant that was not busy was disappointing. There was a set menu with few choices but a great wine list. Our drinks were not served altogether but our main course was and the food was excellent. However service broke down when it came to dessert and after dinner coffee. The desserts came in fits and starts and we cancelled coffee for 3 of us as the others had finished theirs before ours was even made, apparently they only have one coffee machine and this is the reason given for the delay. I would have thought that this place would be able to serve a table of 6 adequately altogether. We were very disappointed.

We have not eaten @ The Colwall Park Hotel for some time so on Bank Holiday Monday we decided to have dinner out . As we have not eaten here for a long time & read positive reviews also the à la carte menu did look very good on there Web Site, we decide to book a table for two. On entering the Bar we noticed it had been re decorated new carpets tables New bar etc i must say it looked very nice. We sat down & ordered a wine, & a pint of Wye Valley which i must say was well kept & tasted great, as was the Malbec . After mulling over the menu for both the bar & Restaurant we decided to go for the Bar Menu.(Only because they had stopped doing the Turbot & changed to the Brill) hopefully the Turbot will be back in the future!! as its a lovely fish one of my favorites. Any way we both went for the Crispy fried Fish with Peas Chips & salad. The waiting staff were very polite & nothing was to much trouble. The meals arrived piping hot The fish was a good size & tasted fresh it looked fresh as was the salad garnish really nice .The chips were very good nice crispy (Not greasy & soft) and tasted really nice it came with a pot of peas & Tartar Sauce. I think if the peas were mushy or even crushed it would have been faultless. Both meals were very good offering good value for money with great service, it will not be as long as before when we next return. Thanks for a nice evening

We have eaten here a few times and again it did not disappoint. This is the first time we have taken our children as we thought the food might be too grown up for them. The children were made to feel welcome and they absolutely loved the food and rate this restaurant as one of their favorite places to eat! The food is of a very high standard and the flavours are amazing. The setting could be viewed as a little dated for some. The staff are always helpful and very knowledgeable.

Much better than the usual hotel restaurant offerings, the new autumn menu was interesting, varied and absolutely deliciously served. Hereford beef is a must around these parts and was thoroughly enjoyed by the chaps! I loved the mushroom pasta starter, and our friends devoured the scallops with gusto! Good wine list, not silly prices. Great, friendly service.

We had a fabulous meal at Seasons restaurant in the Colwall Park Hotel. The food was beautifully presented and cooked perfectly. Some of us had the Herefordshire beef and others the lamb - both were incredibly tender. Highly recommend the scallops starter! The staff were all brilliant including the delightful work experience waitress. Chris was absolutely fantastic - nothing too much trouble and a pleasure to talk to. If all restaurants had a "Chris" who clearly loves what he does they would all be on to a winner! All in all we enjoyed a great family dinner.

The SEASONS restaurant appears to be named so -as the food choices are seasonal and locally sourced -well done. The menu choices at dinner were excellent - difficult to choose but not 500 ways to cook a burger with or without chips. I enjoyed a vegetarian starter and a wonderful piece of Herefordshire beef for my main. The wine list was well put together and reasonably priced. Chris (Restaurant Senior) and the team provided excellent menu advice and good service. Thank you. We stayed overnight at the hotel but would recommend the restaurant to non residents. (Breakfast was equally good) A bar menu is also available and seemed popular with locals and travellers alike; something for everyone. Thoroughly recommended.

We eat here most weeks mid week & the food is always good as is the service. However on our last two visits we have noticed that there is very few staff on duty. The bar man is normally the gardener & does his very best to serve, but he is not in tune with the menu, as we asked what a particular dish was like & he said i do not know ,I must say however that he does try his very best to keep the customers happy. Also on both occasions the beer has been poor Ie cloudy & not as good as usual, the locals were also complaining about the beer. The food however is still very nice but they do need to get waiters/waitresses who know how to serve there customers. The Colwall Park Hotel also has done the Gourmet Society card for a long time, which means you get one main free, this is exceptional value here as the food is very good with a descent choice on the menu. But we were told that this will stop at the end of October!!! i asked why but no one was willing to say why??.I hope that they bring this back, as i said earlier we eat here most weeks.I do hope that they can get some of the original staff back as they were Very good ,& always gave excellent service. Its a great restaurant & it would be a terrible shame if it lost its appeal

My 50th birthday, Sunday lunch for 11, £19 for two courses. Lovely, friendly "normal" English hotel, not at all stuffy and given we were all tired from a party the night before, it just struck the perfect balance for us.... Fantastic food...we had beef and lamb and vegetarian options, all were fantastic and so were the puddings. Service from a lovely Spanish waiter was attentive, responsive and personal. Seated us in a little lounge to the side of the bar to order pre dinner drinks.... couldn't fault it and it made a very special birthday experience for me... but we will definitely come back on a Sunday again,....and again..... and again!!

We dined here on Wednesday evening we decided to share a starter , we had the Mulled Pear salad with Stilton & walnuts. This was a really nice starter the salad was fresh a tossed in olive oil i have to say that they did not scrimp on the Stilton or the Walnuts as some other restaurants would do. we would score the starter 10/10 really good. For mains we both had the Pork loin & Belly Pork this came with green beans & Mashed potato. The Pork Loin was served on some cabbage with bacon lardens , this was a very nice touch different to what we had been served in the past. The belly pork was fine shame it did not crackle a little more but it still was a very nice meal . In previous visits we have had the pork loin served with a stick or two of crackling, if they had done that it would have been perfection. We know it is under new owners & we were a bit concerned that the food might be not as good.... But this is not the case at all, in fact i would say they are being a little more imaginative .The service is still very good the staff are very polite & helpful. They also still use the Gourmet Society card which is an added bonus. A very nice meal & service Thanks!!

The restaurant was slightly lacking in atmosphere as there were only two other couples there but everything else was excellent. All right, the food was delicious and the place looked lovely, such an elegant hall and lovely music at the right volume. But good grief, it cannot take two full hours to serve three course (the last just a cheese board), two hours during which nobody had the decency to make sure that we did not need any more drinks (than a pint of ale and, for me the driver, just 330ml of water!) People arrived far later than us were served before we were and this did not help our mood at all, after the first hour we were more annoyed than hungry... and we hadn't eaten much yet! I understand that they were heavily short staffed, just three (plus one cook, I guess) dealing with the restaurant and the bar at the same time, but there must be a limit for the waiting time and the staff's carelessness: if you cannot do better than this as you are, you should employ more people or accept less bookings (and it's not as if we were dozens in the restaurant!) Not likely to go there again.

we dined here on Saturday evening with our son, normally we eat in the Lantern Bar but on this occasion we decided on the Restaurant. The waitress showed us to our table & served us our drinks, we were then given a bowl of olives & some cheese biscuits to nibble on while we decided what to order. I chose the fresh Pea soup for starters & my son & wife chose the Goats’ Cheese Hash Brown, red onion marmalade, red pepper coulis. The pea soup was really tasty served in a really nice bowl with fresh homemade bread rolls. The goats cheese was to really good a very nice starter, the red onion marmalade really did accompany the goats cheese, again a really good starter..For mains i had the Herb Roasted Loin of Grass Fed Malvern Hills Lamb with thyme potatoes, mediterranean vegetables, glazed carrots & rosemary juices. This came out with the lamb sliced on top of the vegetables, cooked exactly how it should be "Pink" it was so tender & full of flavour The whole meal was really good presentation 10/10.My wife chose the Crisp Fillet of Gilt Head Bream with char grilled new potatoes, chorizo, spinach & red pepper sauce i did not get to try this but she assured me it was lovely . My son had the Seared Goosnargh Duck Breast with walnut scented mashed potatoes & roast root vegetables again really nicely presented & it must have tasted as good as the plate was clean. For sweet we had Caramelised Banana Tart Tatin with rum & raisin ice cream, this was really nice not good for the waist but what the hell... the other sweet was the Passion Fruit topped Baked Vanilla Cheesecake pineapple sorbet my son had this one which was again lovely the sorbet was his favourite part of the dish but it was all good as "yet again a clean plate".The waitress & waiter who looked after us during the evening were superb nothing was to much trouble & the service was second to none. We dine here regularly & always have good service & a good meal weather in the Lantern Bar or the Restaurant, & its nice to see they change the menu on a regular basis. My personal choice would to have a "From The Grill" Menu serving Fillet / Ribeye / Sirloin Steaks Etc That would be Heaven. All in all this is a pleasant Restaurant to come & dine the food & service will not dissapoint

Visited the hotel recently for a sunday lunch with a party of 8 people for my 60th birthday. The resturant was half empty and I was a little concerned that this might indicate that the food was not that good. I need not have been concerned however as both the food and service was excellent . The only slight criticism was that the decor is a lttle dated and could really do with a makeover which is why i've only given it four out of five. Stayed over the festive season and the normal meals were excellent and the specials for Xmas lunch and New Years Eve were superb and great value. I cannot sing their praises highly enough because every meal I've eaten here had been well up to Michelin standards, but at far more realistic village prices. There's nowhere in London where you can get this quality at these prices.

As part of our weekend DBB stay, we dined in the Seasons Restaurant each night. Told that we could sit in the Lounge, opposite the Lantern Bar, our sherries were brought to us, together with the evenings Menu for our perusal. There then followed a selection of Canapés, around a central dish of mixed nuts. We were also shown the bottle of white wine we had selected. A waitress escorted us to our table, unfolded our linen napkins, laying them across our laps, and poured a taster of the wine from an ice bucket. All three courses of the meal were eye-catchingly presented, cooked to perfection, with taste combinations that were satisfying. Coffee, or after-dinner drinks, were then available in the Lounge once more. The Menu contained ample choice for different combinations the following evening. Breakfast each morning was also satisfying. Starting with either Cereals, fresh Fruit, Yoghurt and fruit juices, one could then choose from a comprehensive full English Breakfast or down to a bowl of Porridge, that set you up for the day.

I have reviewed The Colwall Park Hotel restaurant before, We have since eaten in their restaurant & Lantern Bar probably 8-10 times since my last review. The service is always fantastic, the staff are very polite & helpful, the bar is very comfortable & inviting. But the most important part is the Food. They have changed the menu slightly & now offer the Char-grilled 28 Day Dry Aged Medallions of Fillet Steak. I had the pleasure of eating this dish on my last visit 31st October2013. The steak was lovely, tender cooked to perfection & served with Chips mushrooms Tomatoes French beans & Onion rings & a peppercorn sauce. All of the food on the plate was really good & well presented, all cooked just right....I have to say,,,,The onion rings at other restaurants that we have eaten in , seem to be very greasy but at the seasons restaurant they are spot on.. crispy batter not dripping in grease, & you can actually taste the flavour of the onion. My wife chose the Pan Seared Fillet of Halibut this was beautiful. The Halibut was fantastic freshly cooked to perfection as was the dill & white wine cream sauce it came with,,really tasty...The vegetables accompanied it perfectly. For sweet, we decided on the Port Roasted Black Figs with cinnamon dumplings & vanilla sweetened mascarpone, "something i would not normally choose" . Well what a great surprise truly lovely the whole dish was superb best sweet i have had in agesAs we eat here on a regular basis i can honestly say the food & service is consistently good, the food is always presented well on the plate . The village of Colwall near Malvern is the location for this hotel. Seasons Restaurant has a great menu of fish, meat and veg dishes. The main issue is the lack of atmosphere in the restaurant due to empty tables. The food on the other hand was v good. For starters, red mullet was the favourite in our party but the trout was a bit tasteless. For mains, the slow cooked beef rib was the stand out dish and the freshly cooked chips were outstanding. By the end, we were all pretty full and so could not explore the desserts but the chocolate ice cream and blackberry ripple ice cream was lovely. Overall, I would come back to this restaurant but hope the next time there is more atmosphere.

Have just got back from eating what was supposed to be Sunday dinner. The Chilled Gazpacho had too much sherry vinegar and left you with a nasty after taste. I returned it to be told that Chef had followed the recipe...what happened to tasting the food before it goes out? Clearly chef has no taste buds! The Wild Mushroom & Spinach Risotto for main was a pile of stodge and the Mixed Vegetables I ordered to go with it were overcooked and under-seasoned. The only decent thing was they took the gazpacho off my bill. I didn't finish my main course before settling up the bill and leaving. As for 'atmosphere', it was dead and for a Sunday evening in the Summer holidays when you'd expect families to be out and about and eating in great country pubs and such, I found it odd that I was 1 of only 4 people in the bar...Do not go, find somewhere else.

During our four-day stay in the area, we ate dinner quite happily at three other two-rosette awarded restaurants in Hereford and Worcester, all of whom were quite happy to accommodate our nine-month old baby and her buggy. Not here. The lady taking our booking wanted to know whether our daughter would be asleep (as if we could guarantee that) and whether there was a chance she might make a noise. "I'm just thinking of the other diners," she said, clearly assuming that all the other diners were also averse to the sound of a baby gurgling or babbling - if you can even hear that above the general hubbub of conversation. For not understanding that as parents, we're not going to let our baby scream wildly in the dining room to the detriment of 40 other people, she gets a zero. The food might be good - so good, in fact, that babies must be banned from the dining room so that it can be properly enjoyed. But we will never taste it.

I recently moved to Malvern and decided to give this hotel a try, (only had a meal not an overnight stay). The meal was pretty good, overly expensive and the wine was pretty pricey too for what it was, however the only reason I will never be returning is the charge for the soda water. My daughter and I asked for a glass each and when the bill came it was charged at £1.20 each glass. This a ridiculous amount for what is after all, water with a few bubbles in it.

Found myself back here unexpectedly, following a funeral. The menu has changed, I think, since my last visit but it's still obvious that this is a place that takes cooking seriously. To be honest I didn't eat much - wasn't in the mood - but my steak was just how I asked it to be and there was an interesting cheeseboard. However, judging by some of the comments at adjoining tables it was obvious that there were a lot of contented customers in that evening. My waiter (I hate that word) was friendly and efficient and clearly enjoyed being there. I don't suppose a full meal would have been cheap but on the other hand, as we all know, at the end of the day you tend to get what you pay for. We came last evening for a quiet birthday dinner in the Seasons Restaurant. Unfortunately, being a Monday evening and things being a bit too quiet, we would have been on our own. Instead, we chose to eat in the bar. Any doubts about opting for a second class alternative were quickly dispelled as we were shown to a choice of tables. It rapidly became apparent here was a place where quality and service were uppermost in everyone's mind. Such service, I have rarely seen outside of London. On discovering, after ordering our food, the wine we had chosen was not available, the waitress brought us a choice of two alternatives and the proprietor himself came to apologise personally and waived the charge for the wine. Very impressed. The food itself was beautifully cooked and presented. It couldn't be faulted in any way. When my wife dropped her fork accidentally, within seconds and without asking, a waiter was at her side presenting a fresh fork from a tray. Very impressed again.I had chosen a chocolate sorbet with my crème brulee dessert. Sadly the sorbet had run out, but our waitress took the time to apologise and make several suggestions for a chocolate themed alternative accompaniment. It turned out well. Once again, very impressed. We decided this had been one of the nicest meals we have had in many years. Certainly it ranks in our top 5 ever. The welcome and the service were a refreshing change from the often found mediocrity, especially when eating in the bar rather than a restaurant. We will be returning soon and hope then to sample the promised ambiance of the restaurant.Meanwhile I wish everyone involved here every success for the future. There are too few places like this!

If you want a leisurely Sunday lunch with extremely good food, then I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. From the moment I booked, the response was courteous and helpful. On arrival, we were welcomed and escorted to our table in the pleasant uncluttered dining room with its spotless linen. The waiter was a smiling friendly person and the menu most appealing, short enough to inspire confidence but sufficient to offer variety. The service was not brisk but if things are going to be freshly prepared you would not expect it to be. We had two courses. The roast beef was beautifully cooked and the vegetables (roast and mashed potatoes, carrot, cauliflower, broccoli, mange tout and French beans) exquisitely done, full of delicate flavour and melting in the mouth. The whole was complemented by a crisply light Yorkshire pudding. We ate with very great enjoyment. Then my wife and I chose apricot bread and butter pudding with ice-cream. This was generous but seductively light, the contrast between the hot pudding, syrupy fruit and the creamy cold adding to our pleasure. Our daughter had cheese and received four local ones with a variety of biscuits and chutney. Luckily there was so much that she had to offer some to me.The table d'hote menu (two or three courses for a set amount) is reasonably priced and an incentive to return.

Came here for a meal with my partner. Excellent service from all staff, very enthusiastic. Food was delicious and also great value for money. A good selection of wine. Both the restaurant and bar area were very nicely decorated and felt warm and welcoming.

Five stars for the food but the restaurant lacks atmosphere - much better to eat in the bar. On a trip to France last year , we kept finding that we had no meal as good as we get at the Colwall Park Hotel. Good wine list and you can go in for one course (in the bar ) so it doesn't have to be an expensive evening . Never had a bad meal there.

We came here to celebrate my birthday (a quiet one!) and was initially draw to the menu when searching online. The restaurant has a simple design but good attention to detail such as gentle lighting which makes the place very romantic and comfortable. Staff are very attentive, and food came fast. Enjoyed my starter which was the scallop, texture was cooked to just right with a nice sauce goes with it. Although the green salad did not quite go with it. Had duck with green bean for main, really surprised that the greens were cooked just right and it went well with the meat. My boyfriend had pork for main, the pork belly did not disappoint but the other half was a bit salty. One last point: I got a membership to a certain discount club which stated the restaurant had an offer on sunday, when I phoned to book was told cannot use it because it was a busy evening. Appreciate the logic, but think it is a good will to stick to what it signed up for. Otherwise, change the small print...

Staying with friends nearby who brought us here for dinner and amazed to see it was full on a Monday night. When the food came I knew why people call this a hidden gem. Fantastic food and very sensible prices. Excellent staff and service but a really great chef who knows what to do with proper ingredientsCannot understand why Trip rates it so lowly. This must be one of the best restaurants in the county.

Ate here a couple of Sundays ago, and like Gourmay's review, we cant understand why this is so low in the rankings for the area. Perhaps the positive is that there is no excuse for a bad meal in the area. Anyway, we had the Hereford beef main course, which was perfectly cooked, and came on the plate with a good range of vegetables, and didnt overdo the potato. For dessert, my wife had a refreshing Lemon Possett, whilst I had a very light and creamy Bread and Butter pudding. The Two courses, with a couple of drinks were very reasonably priced, and there is an option to sign up for their Dinner club, so giving extra benefit for meals in the future. The setting is a bit more formal than one of the surround Pub restaurants, but the service was very good, without a feeling of being stuffy. Another venue we would happily return to.

Hidden away in the hotel is the Seasons Restaurant, high quality cooking from a tight team who obviously, source locally as much as possible, a relaxed atmosphere with attentive but not overbearing service.Wine list well thought through for everyone's budget and no shortage of exotic post dinner drinks. The owners are obviously driven and it shows through in the food quality and presentation, we will be back!

Just eaten here again recently and can't understand why this restaurant isn't higher in your listing. In a part of the world where high end but fairly priced restaurants are very thin on the ground it would be nice if Seasons got the recognition it deserves. If you want a cheaper, run of the mill alternative then there are plenty to chose from round here. But if you want considerably above average food, a wide ranging wine list and unobtrusive but excellent service then go to Seasons.

They produce Michelin quality food at very reasonable prices and every time I've eaten there for lunch or dinner it's always been excellent. Great friendly staff who are pleased to help and an excellently priced wine list. Despite the lowly ranking this is without doubt the best food on a 20 mile radius.

Excellent bar food but restaurant prices. The food is well prepared, and of a high standard. It is rather pricey. The Colwall Park Hotel is always a delight

The average price of mains on the menu around £16-£17. Fish and chips are the cheapest at £12. Are total food bill for a starter of garlic bread which we shared, and two mains came to £43 with tip. It was not worth the cost in anyway at all. It was not a high standard of cooking, my sea bream was one single small fillet, burnt and dry, covered with salt! The service was however very good.Would not recommend eating here, worth a 5 minute drive into Malvern for something else.

Came here for a family Sunday lunch. Pleasant staff and restaurant, but value for money it was not. We had a normal Sunday roast, but the meat portion was very small and no roast potatoes!! I was looking forward to a creme brulee dessert, but no - its consistency was more like scrambled egg - yuk.Never again for the price we paid.

Just spent 3 nights there and it was wonderful. The staff are extremely helpful and make you feel welcome. From the moment we arrived to when we left ( with great sadness) our time at Colwall Park was enjoyed immensely.Large room - large bed - quirky but very efficient bathroom and shower. We loved it - and the food!!Will return again to enjoy some more walking in the Malverns.

I had the opportunity to return to Colwall Park Hotel last week having been there last November (2008). My return was geared to a very pleasant, if hurried, visit last time and I simply wanted to repeat the experience. I was not disappointed. As before, the staff were welcoming and my room both very clean and comfortable. The restaurant has much higher standards than expected and I would suggest that the value is second to none. The food and wine is exceptional and well matched by the service. It is clearly a family run business, but I am not sure, and has all the hallmarks of care and pride in service. If in the area, I will certainly re-visit.JGF

We have just returned from spending Christmas at Colwall Park with four friends . It was chosen by the others and we didn't go with high expectations ! However , from the moment we arrived we felt it was a most excellent choice . We were welcomed with genuine warmth - not just platitudes trotted out - and shown to our very pleasant room . A Christmas card and a pot of honey as a present were in our room - a nice touch and a sensible choice [ last year's socks were quite the wrong colour ! ] . In the lounge was a bowl of clementines and another of chocolates , a jigsaw puzzle was left on a table on the landing so we could " have a go as we wandered past " and there was a pile of games to borrow .The staff were excellent and clearly well trained as well as well chosen . Meals could not be faulted - food looks good and tastes fresh and interesting - but it was the understated organisation that made the greatest impression . On Christmas evening there was a light hearted quiz and a delicious buffet in the bar . An altogether first rate experience .

Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. The menu was varied but not too much choice. We opted for jacket potato and a flat bread. Fresh and well presented.

Pleasant surroundings outside, unfortunately the food was not too a very high standard. Ham and piccalilli sandwich, ham tasteless (wafer thin and breaded, supermarket family pack springs to mind). Should have been advertised as a Piccalilli sandwich, Coffee was fine.

I absolutely love being in this place and it has a beautifully calm feel. However I am totally astonished by the dolls-house size servings for lunch- at normal lunch prices. I almost asked them if they hadn’t accidentally given me a kiddie’s portion - for a cheaper price- as for over £9 I got two slices of delicious small rye toast, about 7 very small lettuce leaves, 4 olives and a small pot of delicious dip. All very tasty but absolutely not a main course. I know I these are locally sourced ingredients but this felt really wrong. I will definitely return for post lunch coffees but will make sure to eat somewhere else where I can fuel up for lunch before hand.
