Had a Sunday lunch here with my wife (& the dog :)), couldn't fault the food, it was excellent! The entire experience was enjoyable, the atmosphere that Dan has created, the staff very pleasant, and the pub refurb, so overall a perfect Sunday.

Living in Leominster this pub is an easy visit for us. Last night had our first meal under the new ownership and it was fantastic. Service and price levels are excellent and the new team will surely do well given the number of diners and drinkers that were in. Well done guys.....see you again soon.

I have always loved the Balance but since the renovations it has definitely raised even higher in my eyes. The food is expensive but the quality is exceptional, Dan is a superb chef. The staff are attentive and look after your every need. This is the quintessential English village pub, I adore it. And if I could, I would give it an extra star for being dog friendly.

It was a Thursday evening and should have been busier. Food was being served and it looked delicious. Had 2 takeaway pizzas - fabulous. Excellent value. Menu was limited as they have only just started to serve food after a shutdown and total refurb of the place.

Great service, great food and wonderful hosts in Dan & Roxanne. The place has just undergone a major refurbishment and has just reopened. Place looks stunning !!!

Visited for Sunday lunch. Amazing food and ambience. Would highly recommend and plenty of board games to play by the open fire.

Have eaten there several times with several people and all the dishes have been fantastic. Owners are pleasant! Definitely recommend.

Dropped by for a post-walk Sunday lunch. Despite outward appearances, the Balance had great service and amazing food - two beef roasts and a stonebaked pizza were each delicious. Slightly tired looking but the food was outstanding.

Price is good, friendly and food was top notch, nice location with some attractive buildings too

What a lovely pub! It's not a gastro pub (yawn!). It's a proper pub that does great food too. The staff and locals were very friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious and the beer was perfect. I would love to have stayed longer and will definitely visit again if I'm in the area. Thank you!

Just stopped by on holiday for beef Sunday lunch, fish and chips and steak. Food was delicious, staff very friendly and welcoming. Outside could do with a little freshen up but would certainly come again. I wasn't drinking however could see they had a great range of ales and cider.

I booked a table of 7 to celebrate a birthday. After checking the website for the menu options it seemed like a lovely place to go. However when we arrived we were seated in a very cold dining room with no sign of any form of heating. The menus on display on the table did not reflect any resemblance to what we seen on the website!! No vegetarian options for a start, and after being seated for 20 minutes we were informed that they had run out of steak!!. That left us with the option of a chicken dish, a duck dish, a venison burger or a pizza!! Inevitably we finished our drinks and left to go and seek food elsewhere. This pub is not what it states it is!! Genuine waste of time. Avoid Avoid!!!

We needed a dog friendly pub open in a Monday lunchtime and serving food. Although it stated that it was open it was clear when we arrived that it was closed and frankly gave the appearance of a permanent closure. Make sure that you phone ahead to check

Visited the Balance Inn whilst on holiday in the area. Good size car park & garden. Very friendly, warm welcome. Excellent Sunday roast in a 'proper' country pub. A great range of beers & ciders on draught, offered samples of them to decide which one to have. Lovely chocolate brownie & ice cream for dessert. Good range of burgers, & wood-fired pizzas on the menu as well. Will definitely be returning before the end of the holiday, and next time we are back in the area. Highly recommend.

We’ve just come back from this little place. It was our first night out without children for a long time and we were in need of a good feed. It was surf n turf night. The dish we had chosen had ran out of the steak cut. So we opted for a different steak but the the other trimmings. The trimmings we found out has sold out too and we must say the steaks weren’t great. BUT listening to others, I’d say we just had the poorer cuts as everyone else seemed to love theirs. This sounds like I’m complaining , I’m not. As we mentioned our issues and they adjusted the price. To which we paid more as they deducted too much. The started were amazing. Great selection of Drinks. And most importantly, we were listened to. The fact that they ran out of stock shows they were busy and popular. As for the steak. It happens sometimes. This is a great place and the staff were brilliant. We’ll return for sure. I can only give this 5 stars as despite the little upset, what we did have, was exceptional! Well done

A local pub for local people. Good atmosphere unless you end up in the modern extension/conservatory. In response to the reply to my initial post, the food we ordered was taken into the conservatory by the pub staff and so we assumed this was where we were meant to eat it. No-one said we should not use that room or suggested an alternative place to eat it.

I moved into Luston about 6 weeks ago and this is now my local. Visited many times since living here. Always has at least 4 cask ales on the bar normally local together with Robinsons Cider. They also do food and I would throughly recommend the pizza's. The pub is run by a friendly team and I would recommend anybody to visit if in the area.

We moved to the village weeks ago and have visited The Balance regularly . The beer and cider are great, the pizza one of the best I have tasted and the staff and locals very friendly. All in all very happy its our new local, would recommend.

2nd visit had Sunday lunch, amazing. Had fish and chips previous visit that was superb. Would definately recommend a visit and we will go as often as we can now we have discovered this little gem.

A lovely humble village pub, full of character. Reasonably priced drinks and a good selection from locally sourced breweries. We had the rump steak and the ultimate burger and they were fantastic. A great evening, we will be returning soon!

I've always liked this pub. Pubs need as much support as possible especially in these times. Used to be the no1 place for a sunday dinner though I've not been on a sunday for a while.

I am very lucky to live in Luston so only a short walk away for me. Fantastic pub with fantastic food. All reasonably priced, great atmosphere and dog friendly. Well worth a trip if you do not live local.

A really good sunday lunch. A great place to eat but has managed to keep a proper local pub feeling about the place.

Initial impression was so few cars in the car park on a bright, and sunny early Spring Friday lunchtime. Entry past 3 large dogs whose shed hair shone like a shimmering of frost over every carpet inside the establishment was reinforcing. Landlord finally heaving himself from a chair amongst his regulars only added to the sense of unease. However the beer was good enough and so sandwiches were ordered. Apparently a simple round of brown or white was a culinary step too far and so toasted ciabattas less accompanying chips and salad (both cheap ingredients usually included to create the illusion of a huge meal for the money) were requested. Hence a reduction of only one pound was made to the published cost on the menu, validating this assumption. A sad, tired public house long past its best but ...one still with huge potential for the right entrepreneur. Don't bother to visit until a new individual with the flair and vision takes over to make the Balance Inn great once again.

Saturday evening meal for 3 of us, the food was excellent and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Between us we ordered steak - really tasty with great home made onion rings; fish n chips. - the batter was outstanding; and steak n ale pie - the meat was very lean, tender and flavoursome. The HPA on tap was spot on.

The food here is so good! Prices are really reasonable too. The 2 burgers for £15 deal on a Wednesday is such good value and they're delicious. The sunday roasts are amazing too!

Popped in to The Balance Inn, Luston, Herefordshire. Just wanted a quick simple lunch for myself, Wife and Daughter. Very welcoming Landlord and Landlady, the locals were also very friendly and we had a good laugh with them. The food was fantastic, I had a Steak Burger with chips, my Wife and Daughter shared a Pizza. The food was cooked fresh and was very tasty. We will certainly go back for an evening meal. Highly recommended Pub.

Really nice food. Slow service when we were the only ones eating (45 mins). Portion size great albeit served in a daft tin tray. Avoid sitting in the conservatory, it’s very cold! Bar dining area is a little intimidating when all locals chatting sat across multiple tables to one another.

We have eaten here a few times since our last review but I think it is time to up date it...a year on ....Still great! We went as a family from age 8 up, there was something for every one. Chicken nuggets for the youngest, burgers looked lovely and thoroughly enjoyed! The carne pizza was delicious and big enough for us all to have a little taste! it was also Friday fish night so that included 2 fish and chips and a bottle of wine for £25... it was delicious and the so was the wine! They always have a selection of well kept local beers and you always get a warm welcome, it was busy with a great atmosphere. Definitely recommend for a reasonably priced but delicious evening out.

Went on the 27th October had a Sunday roast, the food was amazing not to much also the beef cooked to perfection, veg was not overcooked so you could taste everything. The puddings were wonderful, staff were really brilliant and helpful. We will definitely be going back there again. Thank you so much guys.

My wife and I went to this pub on 8th October 2019. We onlt live 2 miles away but did not know it previously. What a find, this is a very friendly establishment and this includes dogs. We were introduced to Diva and JR as they met us at the door and wanted a bit of a fuss. The locals started arriving (We went in at 5:45pm) and they all said hello and started talking to us as though we had known them for ages. We decided to eat and was told the meals start at 6pm for the evening dinner. (The pub is open from 11am to 11pm everyday). My wife had a meat pizza and I went for the homemade beef and ale pie and the food was delicious and properly cooked and served very quickly once we had ordered. We will definately be using this pub again, especially when the family visits.

Been here now a couple of times, both times I personally had the burger menu, first time I upgraded the chips to chilli cheese amazing but filling. My husband had a mixed grill the first visit and gammon the second, he was really pleased with it. The puddings are scrummy to.

Nice cozy pub relaxing atmosphere only thing is been twice for burgers on a wed and been overcharged twice first time was over a tenner second time over a fiver so not sure if I'm going for a third time now

The Balance Inn in Luston, is on the B4361 - the alternative route from Ludlow to Leominster. It is a very friendly and laid back pub with a good choice of cask ales and house wines. We were given the menu and were very disappointed in the available starters so decided to have a main course and sweet rather than a starter and main course, which is our usual choice. However when we commented on the choice of starter for a vegetarian being limited to cockles or mussels, we were told other starters were available. I chose Whitebait and my companion selected Baked Camembert - both were excellent - my Whitebait was served in a pint tankard, and the Camembert came with toasted bread sticks and rocket. For the main course we both selected the Whole Sea Bream, however only one was available, so I had the Monkfish and Prawn Linguine, which was delicious. It was only as we were leaving that we noticed there was a special offer available of two cod & chips and a bottle of house wine for £25.

Staying in area for a week so trying a few of the local pubs to avoid having to cook. This is a very relaxed pub in Luston with lovely staff. Menu not extensive but the chicken/bacon and avocado salad was very good, really fresh ingredients and great dressing. Partner had fish and chips, good and value for money. Its dog friendly so able to take dogs to beer garden, chatted to locals, drinking beer in the evening sun. What was not to like.

Popped in for lunch, had not been for years. Chose from the sandwich menu but got very different results. One choice was on doorstep bread, the other more of an open sandwich on just one slice or of bread. Both were lovely but it would have been nicer to know more about the size of meal we were ordering.Great tastes and interesting choices for a ‘light lunch’. God, helpful service if a little on the slow side, the pub was not apparently very busy at the time.

The food here is excellent value for money and beautifully prepared. I recommend the garlic and chilli prawns to start. They were delicious. Staff are very welcoming and helpful.

There are very few pubs I know of in such a small village that can keep four or five cask beers on offer year round - and they're kept so well too. The food is excellent, my favourite is definitely the pizza, not standard pub fare but definitely worth a trip for. The bar staff are very good too. Highly recommended.

Not a great selection of food to choose from. Plastic in the ice on two of our drinks, the drinks were replaced but one of the replacement drinks had lipstick on the glass. When our meals arrived there was string still on the beef. Didn’t seemed to be a very friendly atmosphere and generally run down and not very clean.

Tempted out of Leominster town by a couple of miles for a special offer of 2 x homemade fish & chips and a bottle of wine for £25. Have been here before and the food is still beautifully cooked, the atmosphere was great. Def worth a visit... or nine :)

Cod and chips and a bottle of wine £25 on Friday evening, well it had to be done! Fish was excellent, plenty of chips and the bottle of house white was very acceptable. Hope this offer stays on for a while longer....

Driven past so many times, just because we were not sure they allowed dogs (which they do)Well all I can say is I wished we had stopped much sooner. My partner had the Sunday lunch (beef) and have to say cleared the plate which is first in a long time. We also had desserts and they were amazing the chocolate brownie wasn’t to chocolatey or rich and sticky toffee pudding as probably the best I’ve had in a long time. We will definitely be back...... soon

This is the fourth time we have eaten at the Balance and as usual we were not disappointed! The beer is local and well kept.The menu has plenty of choice and reasonably priced.The steak cooked to perfection with chips and dressed salad, the pie of the day (chicken and leek) delicious with fresh green veg. The pizzas always go down a storm with our teenage boys and the children’s chicken nuggets and chips were more than plentiful.The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable would definitely recommend a visit.

Pulled up Sunday about 2pm and had avery warm reception. 3 of us had roast dinner which was amazing. The meat was plentiful and well cooked - plenty of fresh cooked veggies with a big yorkshre pudding. Excellent

Good atmosphere and beer and wine were good. Not much choice for Sunday lunch. We all had the beef and it was delicious. Cauliflower cheese was very hot but sauce was watery. Wondered if it had been frozen cauliflower. Very little choice for pudding. We will go again as the last time it was truly great. Felt that the current heat wave had taken its toll and everyone was tired. It showed in the service.

The balance is warm, friendly and well run pub cituated in the heart of the village, it boasts great food, a large array of drink and some classic pub entertainment including a regular pub quiz night! If your ever in the area it is definitely worth the visit!

Called in Saturday night while out riding the motorbike. Food was really nice, guy behind the bar was really helpful and helped me find a hotel option nearby. Will definitely go back if in the area

The pub is set in the centre of the village and is very dog friendly. There are numerous rap ales on offer together with local ciders and the usual lagers. There is a good basic pub menu on offer. It is an drop-off point for walkers with both Croft Castle and Barrington Hall near by.

Lovely place, the sunday roast was absolutely the best we have had in a long time, delicious desserts and what a pleasure to meet such friendly staff who couldn't do enough for you, dog friendly is a plus. Thank you 🤗

On a gloriously sunny Summer day, lunch in the garden of The Balance Inn was looked forward to and did not disappoint. A smiling welcome from behind the bar ( and the locals sitting therin ) with a refreshing drink in hand, ham and eggs and a steakburger were ordered from the comprehensive pub menu. Although on the main road through Luston, traffic is not noticeable just the peace of Herefordshire with our dogs settled under the table. Our meals were well presented, delicious and good value.I can thoroughly recommend a visit to this hospitable village pub, a close relative used to live in Luston and we often lunched at The Balance, she would be pleased to know that it is still in good heart, a return visit is planned soon.

Stopped here for a Sunday lunch before visiting Croft Castle and Gardens on our way to North Wales. It was a very hot day but we still had Sunday roast as we'd seen the good reports on tripadvisor. The staff were very friendly and even set us up with a fan nearby to cool us down.The roast was really good, lots of meat, roast potatoes, parsnip, yorkshire pudding, cabbage, broccoli, carrots and cauliflower. Then a sticky toffee pud but one between us as the lunch was big. Would go here again should we be in the area.
