Staying at Lucksall for first time and had a lovely waitress called Helen very kindly fit us in for the roast on Sunday, nice staff, lovely food and very tasty desserts too. Glass of Jack Rabbit Malbec with the beef, delicious too. Visited again the next evening with 2 friends and again very nice meals, we had garlic mushrooms to share, yummy, a curry, steak, gammon and ham dishes, followed by desserts, all delicious. Henry our waiter was being trained and we were teasing him and he was brilliant, lovely genuine young man, he looked after us very well and will be an asset. Thanks guys will return.

Staying here for the first time, we called on arrival to book for the Sunday roast, Helen very kindly squeezed us in and our little dog. Lovely waitress, lovely roast dinner served on hot plates and food all nice and hot. Lovely glass of Jack Rabbit Malbec with the beef absolutely delicious. Great service from attentive staff. Highly recommend. Visited following evening with friends and same attentive service from Helen who was training Henry our waiter for the evening, he was lovely and looked after us very well and didn’t mind being teased, a credit to Helen and the restaurant. We ate garlic mushroom starter between 4 delicious, followed by steak, curry, gammon and honey roast ham all delicious. Then apple slice and ice cream dessert. Very nice restaurant and will be back.

We booked Sunday lunch prior to leaving the site after a few nights stay, the staff could not be more friendly and accommodating. We were seated next to a local couple who had come back having called in for a cream tea earlier in the week, I think they will become regulars as it was so good. The Sunday roasts are delicious, plenty of meat & vegetables, cooked just right. The staff were very efficient and attentive but not overly so. A bonus is they are very dog friendly, whereas a lot of places dogs are ok in the bar area but not where you are properly seated to eat. Highly recommended but note you do need to book and give your food choice ahead of arrival, they did check we were still happy with our choice when they seated us (we had the beef). We are looking forward to returning and trying other dishes from the menu now.

My partner and I visited the riverside eatery at Lucksall caravan park on Sunday as we wanted a sandwich or a lite bite for lunch. Upon arrival, a member of staff kindly opened the barrier for us, letting us into the car park, after my partner had asked if we were ok to have some lunch, to which she replied ‘yes’. We have entered the restaurant and waited by the sign, to be seated. There was one female member of staff who was delivering something to another table, looked at us but did not greet us. This lady eventually came to us and we asked if we could have a table for two please. The woman looked at us in a very unwelcoming way and asked if we had booked. I stated that we hadn’t booked and that I wasn’t aware that we needed to book (the restaurant wasn’t busy and I didn’t even think to as it was a caravan site restaurant). The woman then said, ‘well you do now’. She then walked away and came back with a piece of paper and just said, ‘I’ve got two beef’. I stated that we were looking to have a sandwich and the woman practically laughed at us and said, ‘it’s a Sunday, we’re only doing roasts’. I stated that this was not obvious on the website and she replied, ‘well I don’t have anything to do with the website’. I thanked the lady and said that we will be going elsewhere. In all honesty, I never leave negative reviews, but I felt compelled to after this awful interaction. I can’t comment on the standard of food as we barely got through the door, but this woman’s welcome was certainly not a pleasant one.

This was a great find!! Beautiful views across the river Wye - with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The menu is not extensive - but - it is done well. The cod+chips was fantastic!!! The batter was really crispy and not greasy, and the chips..... crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. And Helen looked after us really well - very friendly and chatty. A Monday lunchtime - very quiet.

I was really looking forward to dine at this place. It was a beautiful evening and rang to see if I could book a table outside but with a sun parasol because we had too much sun and wanted to keep my toddler out of the sun! On arrival we were told to pick a seat because they hadn’t reserved which was fine. So there was only two tables with parasol and were told we couldn’t go at the side where it was more shaded etc. shame because I presumed that’s where our table would be booked for. Menus came and told we had to order in next few minutes and go inside. Ordered our food, High chair came, but wasn’t able to get it up to the table. So we had to move tables without a parasol and at this point was directly in the sun. I know to others not a big deal, but kinda wanted some shade by the nice riverside because had don much sun. Drinks order came which was wrong, but no problems easy rectified. Beer never had a head. Husbands input. So I ordered my 15 month old food from the childrens menu and when served it was given in a boiling hot plate and they had served it worth a towel saying it’s really hot. What am I going to do with a boiling hot plate for my baby! Honestly, I just thought how ridiculous! All the adults plates were normal. My babies plate was so hot and the food it was like it had been kept in the oven to keep warm whilst out food was cooking. This was very frustrating to me, whilst by no means do I want the food cold but not piping hot ! So my desperately hungry baby had to wait whilst seeing all the food on the table and I’m pulling her food apart. My husband has asbestos hands and was like that’s even hot for me! I had to swap plates and wait to cool down. Whilst our food was delicious I just felt that it was very stressful, they had a big order of tables coming in and it felt like we had to hurry and the experience isn’t what I wanted! A real let down of an evening when a tired mumma just wants a break. We don’t have funds to go out much and we paid over £50 which is a big deal for us so we want a nice experience because we don’t get to do it much! Bit more thought needs to go into being a bit more child friendly!

We booked in for lunch and a break on our day-long canoe trip on the Wye from Hereford to Hoarwithy...four dads and teenage lads. Despite being quite busy and under recently relaxed but cautious Covid conditions we could not fault the food or the service. The staff were not phased by requests to leave this-and-that our of the burgers or by us asking to pay in pairs on one order. All handled efficiently and the food arrived quickly too. The steak burgers were moist and flavoursome, the skinny fries less skinny than some....much better and tasted lovely. Our other orders were all fresh and on the ball. There's a good chance you'll drive past this pub the first time then once you've turned back around, the thought will cross your mind that you've gone wrong again as you come face to face with an automatic barrier... Well, that's how it is here. We stopped in front of said barrier whilst three similarly uniformed gents stared at us. Upon enquiry it turns out that they will lift the barrier if you're going to the pub or indeed the sizeable caravan and camping park that lies the other side. So the pub or bar or cafe-style establishment is part of the caravan park, but don't let that put you off (if that does put you off) as it is a nice little stop off right next to the river with a few outside wooden tables or alternatively some of those lightweight aluminium chairs and tables on the patio. The garden has some steep steps that lead down to a small concrete bank and a small jetty on the picturesque river. Indeed, whilst we were here, there were a few canoeists that had returned from their adventures, hauling their kit up the steps and through the garden to an adjacent plot The toilets at the time, involved the use of the toilet block over the road and hidden behind a hedge so you may need to ask for directions and I'd have to say though, it's more of a summer pub as the interior, pleasant enough as it is, contains more of those aluminium tables and chairs with a tiled floor giving it that all-inclusive Tenerife hotel feel to it. Top marks to the staff though, very friendly, chatty and accommodating, in fact we had a different member of staff producing each of our drinks. Reasonable drinks prices but didn't try the food merely because of the time of day. So if you're looking for a riverside pub in this area, this is a decent spot, albeit it has little in the way of competition.

I brought a cycling group here for lunch over the August bank holiday weekend (booked in advance). There was a good choice of food, promptly served - everyone in our group seemed to enjoy their selections. I think the vegan in our party only found one option on the menu but luckily she was happy with it. The staff were helpful and friendly, there were sensible Covid-19 precautions with socially-distanced tables inside (if pre-booked) but many of us opted to sit at the outdoor tables by the river. Highly recommended for a lunch or coffee stop. The only downside is the cycle parking: a couple of nasty "wheel-bender" racks in the corner of the visitor car park where they were vulnerable to reversing cars, hidden behind a hedge so it was difficult to keep an eye on them from your table. I'd urge Lucksall to consider investing in some decent non-damaging racks and a safer, more visible position.

I would have given it 5 marks but for the fact it advertised breakfast is until 11.30am on a Sunday but was told on trying to place an order at 10.50am that they had stopped doing breakfasts to prepare for Sunday lunch! Also states closing time of 10pm but went on the Sunday at 9pm to find it had closed early! Shame,as it was otherwise very good.

We were staying in the caravan so we went here for drinks and food. Wifi was okay and free, nice selection of local beers and ciders. Food was served fresh and desserts were great too Staff were very helpful and couldn't seem to do enough for you. One tip its a good idea to book in advance for an evening meal.

We visited during our stay with our Motorhome, a lovely place and the staff were friendly. On asking about gluten free food the young lady was knowledgeable and helpful, more so than many other establishments. We had an evening meal and it was super. A great addition to the site.

It's great to have somewhere like this on site especially as you can take dogs in with you. There is a good variety of food and a specials board and is extremely well cooked. The staff are very friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble for them. There is a good choice of local beers and ciders as well as the usual spirits

We had pre booked a table and it was ready on our arrival. Good choice of food available covering all choices. Everyone enjoyed the meal, which was reasonable.

This eatery was so welcoming and the staff were really helpful with a not too friendly dog. The food was quick and well prepared and there was plenty of it. The local beers and ciders promoted so much about how the site supports local artisan products.

We stayed for 5 days at Lucksall Caravan Park and ate in our caravan until the last night when we decided to eat at the on-site restaurant. We didn't expect too much but they definitely exceeded our expectations! The menu was really extensive, but when my husband asked for a veggie option he'd spotted on the outside menu the day before but wasn't there when we went they were only too happy to make it for him anyway. The staff were so friendly and helpful- nothing seemed too much trouble and they treated us like we were regulars. The atmosphere was also very nice, with other holiday makers and their dogs enjoying some dinner, with lovely views out over the river. It's not the most high-end restaurant you'll find in the area, but it's a real gem and we only wish we'd eaten there more often during our stay.

Stopped by for a few drinks and sat by the river. Pleasant bar / restaurant which was well stocked with a variety of local beers and wines.

I absolutely love being in this place and it has a beautifully calm feel. However I am totally astonished by the dolls-house size servings for lunch- at normal lunch prices. I almost asked them if they hadn’t accidentally given me a kiddie’s portion - for a cheaper price- as for over £9 I got two slices of delicious small rye toast, about 7 very small lettuce leaves, 4 olives and a small pot of delicious dip. All very tasty but absolutely not a main course. I know I these are locally sourced ingredients but this felt really wrong. I will definitely return for post lunch coffees but will make sure to eat somewhere else where I can fuel up for lunch before hand.

Pleasant surroundings outside, unfortunately the food was not too a very high standard. Ham and piccalilli sandwich, ham tasteless (wafer thin and breaded, supermarket family pack springs to mind). Should have been advertised as a Piccalilli sandwich, Coffee was fine.

Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. The menu was varied but not too much choice. We opted for jacket potato and a flat bread. Fresh and well presented.

Been to this lovely pub for Sunday lunch many times, never disappoints. Everything about this place is positive from the lovely friendly staff who can't do enough for you. It is a welcome throwback to how a local pub used to be, a real gem, long may it continues.
