Traditional pub with good choice of beers

Attended the music session on Monday evening as a visitor to Hereford. Lovely welcome at the bar from the owners. The music group were so friendly and welcoming. They went around the room one by one, the other musicians joined in if appropriate or not. Guitars, melodeon, banjo, singing and poetry. Really lovely. A lovely old pub with lots of history. Plenty of room for non musicians to sit nearby and just listen in.

Always a warm welcome, great selection of beers with clean and comfortable seating. I think everyone is starting to see this as the best pub in town

This place is the perfect example of a real pub. Lots of ales on offer, plus the usual beer and cider selection. Enough gin for my wife too :) We come for a cheese cob, a pork pie, a quiz, and on a Tuesday - the epic cheese night !! Its now my favourite Tuesday night 😂 Malc and Kath have made some lovely changes here that make you feel more welcome and Nic is a star behind the bar. 6/5 !

Great pub. Great atmosphere as its mainly more mature people.

We loved visiting The Orange Tree.. in fact we went there 4 times over the week... Hubby was chasing beers he hadn't had before. However, we liked it, as did our little dog... Reggie.. we found a little seating area which was perfect..as Reggie can be a little reactive...it was great.. The rolls were huge & very tasty...x Thank you

Broke down on a Sunday afternoon travelling from Cwmbran to Leeds and got towed to Hereford. We checked into the Travelodge and found this gem of a pub. Lots of lovely real ales, dog friendly and very nice furnishings, decor and music. Every cloud.... Oh, the food looks awesome too but, sadly, we have already eaten.

Awesome place, popped in for a drink,real ales choice fantastic, and it was a Tuesday so cheese buffet night, what a selection!!! Very welcoming hosts, we were only in Hereford one night but thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Toilets and premises immaculate. Credit to them both !!!

I mean, what can you not love about a great pub in a great city? Our fav of all places here. The new landlords Kath and Malc have made the atmosphere very welcoming. Nic and Dom behind the bar were the dynamic duo . Much kudos to this place and everyone behind it. Our dog loved a sleep too

Definitely need to visit and have a chat. Awesome people who run the pub. Also if u buy a 100 drinks you get a tshirt and join the club. Ask about it.

Went for a quick pint as had half an hour to kill, didnt know which beer to have and barman was no help, he said look at the screen for info which simply showed adds for coke, I ordered a pint which tasted awfull and didnt clear! I simply left it and walked out, wont be going back ever!

Wonderful afternoon birthday drinks at The orange tree. Landlady and landlord were so accommodating, friendly and helpful. Made a special day that much more special.

So much so, we ordered them in for ourselves for our picnic the next day! There’s a regular pub quiz which is always good fun, with regulars and non regulars. This pub is great as it is inviting for everyone. Lovely bit outside too for when we get the occasional sunshine! They’ve got a nice set of games too which is always handy when you’ve ran out of conversation with your other half haha. Variety of drinks are good too :) lovely lovely place!!!!

Thank you to all the staff at the orange tree , we were looked after very well and Our 18 year old enjoyed her time with her friends and family . A massive thank you to The orange tree very friendly pub . Good atmosphere x

Lovely local pub with a beer garden which we used as a birthday part. Good selection of drinks and the staff were very lovely and attenative and looked after all our needs. So a big well done the Orange Tree, its a thumbs up from me 👍.

Popped in recently and found it's changed ownership and clientellle.Both for the better. Many real ales and even a Morris team meeting . Cracking pub.

We didn't have food but if you like real ale you will lo e it here & the prices are very good 👌

This is a very traditional pub with hand drawn taps. Absolutely perfect... I heard that they have new owners and they couldn't have been more gracious and inviting. A good selection of drafts that are displayed on a monitor. Very easy to select what you want. They have food, but I'm not sure if it's a full menu. The focus here is in the beer and the social setting... The interior is warm and welcoming. Really liked the front.

Strolling back to our hotel and called in this lovely welcoming pub. The atmosphere and lay out of this pub is just as a pub should be. Plenty of selection of real ales all well kept. Home made pork pies , what more could you ask for with a good pint . Unfortunately I can’t remember the names of the land lord and land lady but they were both very welcoming and easy to chat to. The whole pub was spotless and we spend a pleasant few hours sampling the food and ales.

Having seen previous reviews and pictures, I was really excited about visiting, but the choice didn't seem to be as great as the amount of pumps suggests. Maybe it was just the time I went and it now makes a perfect excuse to revisit in the future.

Great local pub with well stocked bar, choice of beers, ciders, ales plenty of gins too. & Dog friendly.

It is a long time posted and being a female this amounts to 5* .the toilets are the best I have seen in years. U could eat your food off the floor. Toilets spotless and all the extras a female might need

Coming from the black country we were surprised to find this little gem of a pub in the heart of the city serving black country ales, a cracking little boozer where we spent a lovley few hours in this homley old fashioned pub ,,will return.

Popped into this great little pub for a pint and a cob. The cellar is obviously well looked after as the beer was just superb and the cob to go with it was big and tasty and a bargain. Will be back asap!!!

Lovely pub cracking selection of beers staff are excellent

Didn't eat here however bowled over by the amount of beer pumps across the bar. Real ale selection was outstanding and the bar person more than happy to allow us to sample. Brilliant!!

Everyone friendly great atmosphere good beer

The man behind the bar (probably the landlord) was really friendly and was very knowledgeable about all the real ales and ciders he was selling. not sure if they do food I did see some rolls on the bar.

We went in with friends for a drink. Great atmosphere, very busy great choices of beers, Ciders etc. Lovely old original features. Friendly helpful staff

What a beautiful evening, steeped in history & architecture what a wonderful building. It was extremely easy to soak up the atmosphere. It was spotless & Grace was a fountain of knowledge, not only of the surrounding area but far afield to!! We did not eat on this occasion but I'm sure if we had it would have met the high standard of the rest of the place!!

Amazing rediscovery, the Orange Tree is smart, welcoming and friendly. Only went there on an off chance, to meet a friend, and was most impressed by the transformation. The range of beer was excellent, the service friendly and informative about the origin of the beers. Will definitely revisit

We stopped in by chance and discovered every Tuesday night around 7pm they have a complimentary cheese board! Great spread, very nice cheeses/pickle/deli meat selection. Matt the Bartender was very lovely. Beautifully decorated classic pub. Definitely would recommend stopping by!

Divine little watering hole! Excellent staff lovely atmosphere. Matt was a knowledgeable bar tender and helped me discover black country ales. They even had a cheese board on! Will definitely return

A really cosy pub with a warm welcome from the gent behind the bar. Only had coffee (as had the car), this was very nice. Would like to return and spend some time as they had a great range of real ales and ciders.

Thought it was a fabulous pub especially if you love real ales. Think there was at least 11 real ales. Any brass, pumps, doors etc were kept fabulously clean. Will be going back when the weather's a bit warmer. Well done landlord

Simply the best and only undisputed ale-house in the whole of Hereford! Their quality and quantity of ales is unrivaled within both Hereford city centre, and the wider Herefordshire. The owners (Nick and Lisa), and all the remaining staff operate attentively, and efficiently - enhancing the already established reputation of this fine public house. The Orange Tree seems to inadvertently create a strong community-feel through the way in which they operate - a consensus you will unfortunately struggle to find elsewhere. Hats off to those at the Orange Tree; and a big thank you for all that you do for your customers :)

Reasonable Real-Ale; minus the Riff-Raff! The Orange Tree holds the mantle for the premier Public House in Hereford. Reasonably price beer; non-assuming clientele; and an atmosphere that encapsulates such qualities. Perfect for any occasion, the Orange Tree pose as a popular venue that provides a local-feel. Quite simply; (Citra) Sublime! A go-to for any pub gallivanter. Working within the trade, this is the only pub within Hereford I will comfortably defer our customers to. Chins up, OT!

Staff vary friendly, really good atmosphere. Plenty of seating if you get there early. Toilets vary clean.

Absolute wonderful pub in a relaxed setting. Staff helpful. I found a box of dominos on a shelf so we played. Yes, it sounds boring but we had a good laugh at us being far too young for this to be a night out. The drinks were not cheap.

Great pub find. A dozen or so beers/ciders to choose from. A knowledgeable landlord ( Nick ) and bar staff made this a good friendly environment. Some food snacks available at the bar,pies / sandwich etc. You are here for the beer, ambience and having a chat . Good decor. Clean tidy and well cared for. Comfy seats and the heating is on.......Great for winter. Also was able to try out some of my local beers ( Leeds, Wilde Child ) as well as some from The Black Country. All in all myself and partner Sandra and I enjoyed The Orange Tree and would make it our local if we lived in Hereford.

Although there's no restaurant or cooked food on offer there is a dozen fresh rolls on the bar in a container and they're delicious. The owner is a right nice geezer and has stocked the pub to the gills with whatever you want to drink!. I met some locals inside, really nice and chatty which made me feel at home. I would like to have a holiday in Hereford and not just the surrounding countryside. As I said there's no food on offer but the Thai Garden was recommended so off I went.........

wow, what can I say, myself and my friends stumbled across the orange tree after a very bad experience at the spread. very friendly staff a Amazing selection of real ales and their own black Country ales as well the pub was Spotlessly clean and a nice beer garden at the back the barman was very Knowledgeable of the ales that was on sale and let us try some so we new what the ale was like I Definitely recommend the orange tree if your in hereford

One not to miss. Cosy pub old world type. Atmosphere and cosy Dog friendly. Great drink menu. Lovely ciders and ales. Beer garden available. It's a busy small place. Highly recommend it. Grab your seat and try the selection. Also offering dog water etc Definitely return when we back in hereford.

We popped into this little gem whilst on a trip to Hereford, ceiling very low, (Mind Your Head). The pub has had a recent makeover to a very high standard too, we were made very welcome by Jack who gave us a sample before we bought our cider, there is a vast array of real ales, lagers and ciders to choose from. It will be on our Hereford bucket list on our next visit. Thank You Orange Tree.. Dave & Jill.

What a welcome change has come about since this bar reverted to it's original name. The last time we visited, it was called the "Firefly" which was unfriendly, underwhelming and pretentious. Not anymore however! The "Orange Tree" is now an extremely welcoming, accessible and real. The beer selection is one of the best in town and the beer garden is second to none. See you again very soon!

Great selection of very well conditioned cask beers and very well priced with a friendly service. Probably the cleanest pub I've ever been in too! Best pub in Hereford by far for real ale enthusiasts.

Huge selections of beer on tap and a board (TV screen) showing them all with an explanation. Also had air conditioning which on a hot day was amazing.

I don't have negatives to say about the pub, it was alright. Only had one pint there and didn't order food. Not busy when I visited (Wednesday evening) so atmosphere wasn't really there. We moved on to other pubs we were more familiar with.

Lovely selection of Cask ales, nice beer garden, friendly staff and Wow.. the filled rolls are sensational at just £3 each.

Proper old school boozer with an excellent range of craft beer, prices are very fair and the pork scratchings are proper Black Country ones. Long live these kind of pubs!

Great beer, great place, great company. I was there out on the front watching all the young people going to the graduation ceremony. My granddaughter and grandson were going as well. Very nice chatting outside with regular customers that had rainbow socks and brolly - it wasn't raining but good fun.
