Had an amazing meal here! Try the Brie wedges they are amazing no sorry out of this world. The staff are so friendly and the service was great.

First time here. The food was excellent, well prepared, and presented. My husband did leave his food to get more drinks from the bar, which is the only negative. We shall just wave as well as shout next time as we will go back. There is no doubt about that.

We took my nan here today for her birthday treat. It did not disappoint! We have been a few times before and it is consistently good! The service is attentive and friendly. Everyone enjoyed their meals. My nan doesn't have a huge appetite and she was allowed a children's portion which was great as there are many places that won't allow this. The lasagne I had was the nicest homemade lasagne that I have ever had! We were too full for pudding unfortunately. Overall a lovely traditional pub, serving excellent homemade meals with warm friendly service at reasonable prices. What more could you want? Thank you! :)

Went for Sunday lunch here and honestly one of the best I’ve had in a long time. Great value, great portion sizes great taste and somehow managed to fit these deserts in which were unbelievable if I could order a whole Biscoff cheesecake back to Coventry I would! Such a lovely place welcoming staff and lovely view outside from the garden 10/10

The Penny Farthing had loads of food to choose from. We were looking for a good pub bite to eat and we found it!! We had Beer battered cod and Kev's sausage and mash. Here's a bit of lore for you all... KEV'S THE BUTCHER 🍖 So thanks to Kev for a lovely meal. It had a nice quiet and warm atmosphere, very local but welcoming!! 😊 Regretfully, we never had chance to ask for the waitress' name to give her the shout out she deserves but she was very attentive to our table and we had a great time in the area ☺️

Wow. Fantastic food. Popped in for lunch, had the steak and ale pie, and steak and kidney pudding. All homemade, just superb. Great service.

Our daughter lives less than a mile away from the Penny Farthing. Thought we would try it out as its local. The food is very good and you won't go hungry. However the service was just too quick. I sat down for my meal at 7pm. Very quickly the starter appeared after ordering. As soon as I finished. My plate was cleared away. Within 2 minutes my main meal arrived. Far too quick. I was unable to eat all of my main meal. As it arrived to quickly after the starter. We were finished by 7.35pm. Had there been a 20 minute break between my starter and main meal. I could have enjoyed the experience. Ordered a couple more drinks and also had a dessert. I ended up not having a conversation with the wife as we were just eating. I would normally like to sit for at least 1.5 hours when having a 3 course meal.

Quite a nice local pub, with adequate parking. Externally, the pub looks quite small; however, inside there is quite a bit of space. Internally, the decor is quite traditional but not too oldworldy. The three of us had booked and our table was reserved. The staff were helpful and did not rush us. Our drinks were delivered quickly, the food took a little more time but not unreasonably so. All three of us enjoyed our main courses which were a decent size and good quality. We were all looking forward to our puddings but they didn't reach the same level of quantity or quality as the mains. Black Forest gateu lacked cherries and the apricot frangipan lacked apricots. In addition, one of the frangipans was very small, half the size of the other. Despite the shortcomings of the puddings, they all tasted quite good. Overall, the cost was quite reasonable. We would be happy to return, but would be a bit more circumspect about the puddings.

Fabulous. We had a pate starter which we realised we shouldn't have had when our main meals came as they were big portions which we couldn't finish. The staff are brilliant. Thank you.

First time visiting this pub/restaurant. Fantastic food, lots of choices and friendly staff. Food was so gd had 3 courses and coffee. Loved it so much have booked again to bring visiting family in a few weeks time. Highly recommended. Thank you for making us feel so welcome.

Went here yesterday, bought a couple of drinks, asked if it was OK to have food, was told that we could have a table for 8pm , then told they were fully booked, the place was nearly empty, we went into the garden to finish our drinks, people turned up and ordered food to be served in the garden, when we asked if we could order food as well, the waitress came back and said no , attitude from the owner was awful, don't go there unless you are a regular

Stopped here and is situated in a quiet place. Staff friendly and welcoming. Plenty of parking. Plenty of seating inside and outside. The garden area is nice and big with kids play area. The garden has really lovely views. Reasonably priced. We definitely going again as want have food which looked and smelled nice..

We booked table for 7pm did not see service for 15 minutes order drinks got drinks so we ordered food 4o minutes till we got it the food was excellent all finished and ordered some desserts 30 minutes till we were served very nice.

Just popped in for drink out on Bike with Gf Place is so interesting it's a must do and keen to return for meal.

Our first visit for Sunday lunch as it had been recommended and wow, we were not disappointed, the best Sunday roast we have had in a long time, generous portions, cooked to perfection and inc cauliflower cheese which is normally an extra. The desserts were just as good, highly recommend the lemon mess meringue cloud, omg, was divine. The staff were lovely and polite and very efficient. We will def be back. I don't do reviews normally but just had to on this one. Excellent.

WWE have eaten here before but on this visit we walked from Gorsley to the pub. All we wanted was a drink, but it was very busy with Sunday lunches. Good garden

We made a casual stop to this place after a visit to May Hill. The walk on the hill was a non starter due to the unexpected rainfall, but our visit to The Penny Farthing more than made up for it. The place has a warm atmosphere, and the staff were very welcoming. We ordered food after having a drink by the fire, and we loved it. The food was all freshly cooked and very well presented. The portions were very generous, and prices very reasonable. Very good value for money I would say. This place is an absolute gem as far as I'm concerned, and I would highly recommend it.

My first visit here, I'm sure it won't be the last. Excellent food, 6 of us and everyone very happy with it.

We sat in a lovely warm alcove, had great food and service. Definitely recommend.

Over priced and staff were rude. We came on the 21st December for my birthday. I ordered the sea bass but was told it had run out! Why was it still on the blackboard then? Had the salmon instead which was way over priced for what we got. No one rated the food at all and we certainly won't be returning.

This place is amazing. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The food was amazing and so well presented. My only criticism is there was too much of it. We did ask for leftovers to be packed for us and we had enough for tea the next day. Good value indeed x

We were on holiday in the area and popped in for a drink at the recommendation of the lady whose accommodation we were staying at. We weren’t disappointed, the service was very good and the pub had a friendly and welcoming atmosphere; because of this we decided to book a table for the following evening for dinner. Again we were not disappointed, the food was great - lamb shank with mash and gammon and chips. All very reasonably priced. If we had been staying in the area longer, this would have become our “Local”.

Didn't feel welcome, strong smell of bleach when we arrived. Slow to take our order and even slower to bring the food. The food was good though.

We love The Penny Farthing because we know.....the food is excellent the staff are caring and friendly. There are cosy corners for romantic meals or enjoy a family celebration. Just excellent all round.

One of the best coffee ☕ around served with great staff. The food was excellent.

Food menu was impressive but I was too late to order but will return earlier next time. Good beers and service. In an area of ordinary pub fare this looked to be much better

Always live the Penny farthing. The music was banging tonight too up to date, toe tapping and not to loud. Portion sizes here are very fair and dependent what you have you may not need a desert or a starter for that matter Always fresh , hot and tasty with great service to go with it meals are about 12 to 20 quid Deserts £6 50 (ish) a pint about 4 . 20 + wine about 5.70 large glass Thanks to all staff

Only one thing to complain about for me personally, some meals served on wooden breadboards. Maybe should have checked before ordering.

Would just like to say a MASSIVE thank you to the Penny Farthing staff today. I visited to celebrate my Dads 85th birthday and the lunch we all had was really good and great value. The service was excellent and we were all extremely happy. On the way out my Mum had a fall as she missed her step. We picked her up and sat her down outside. The staff were very friendly and quick to ask if we needed any help and at that point I thought all was fine. She took a turn for the worse and both patrons and the staff jumped to help by bringing cushions and blankets and most importantly calling an ambulance. Thankfully she is fine now after a thorough check up by the Paramedics. The staff and patrons of the Penny Farthing went above and beyond today and I would just like to say from myself my Mum and my Dad a MASSIVE THANK YOU.

Arrived when it was quiet on a Saturday lunchtime but it soon filled up. Excellent specials of seafood platter and nut roast. Good selection of cider, especially liked the Wesons Vintage on draught. Good job everybody 😁

Great service so we tipped well. They kept the kitchen open for us as we were calling in late. The lamb shank was phenomenal and the food was just amazing. Great local drinks too.

WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER HAD TONIGHT ON OUR BIRTHDAYS IN OUR FAMILY………………… the food was ok my curry I ordered was cold , the hospitality was dreadful. No one asked us if our food was ok . Our food was a hour late and we politely asked where it was and one of the hostess said “ umm dunno soon I geuss “ and when we were finally finished and received our food we asked for the bill no one said was everything ok or would you like anything else so we will never go there ever again. Oh it cost us £90.50 for 5 people

Absolutely the best pub meal I've had in ages, Excellent value, Hot, tasty quality meals, fantastic choice of desserts.

Excellent Sunday roast. We had the lamb it was delicious 😋 lots of other choices. The toffee and peacan roulade was scrumptious. Very friendly atmosphere. Definitely recommend.

Had are wedding reception here on Saturday 6 may the food was very nice and was treated very nicely bye all the staff.and would go there again for dinner they made it a day to remember.And once again thank you from everyone.

Went for Sunday lunch today. All the staff were lovely and the service was excellent. Loved that I had a choice of 2 different veggie roasts and my partner really enjoyed his lamb. Also loved that it came with a side of cauliflower cheese, always a favourite and most places charge extra for it. Thanks so much for a great lunch!

Staying on local caravan site and turned up Friday evening without booking. The staff were so welcoming and managed to squeeze us in. The food was excellent, best pub food we've had in years. Very fresh and nicely presented. All the guys serving were lovely. Highly recommended 👍

Excellent meal. All of the food was cooked to perfection. Service was very friendly and very efficient. The owner/boss is very attentive ensuring all is well with everybody, even down to going above and beyond to support creating a gluten free starter dish for my wife which was not even on the menu. To add to this the beautiful warm surroundings of a genuine lovely old historic pub with a cosy atmosphere. Special thanks to the chef. Celiac is a nightmare disease and for those who suffer from it will agree that being made to feel important in a restaurant brings massive appreciation as most restaurants simple just don’t care. Would highly recommend.

The food was amazing, the staff very friendly and welcoming. I was even surprised with a candle in my dessert for my birthday. I will definitely be back, to try other items on the superb menu.

Surprise birthday party arranged here and the staff and owners made it very special. Tables and decorations done to a tee. Staff friendly and attentive. Even made a special order not on the menu. Nice roaring open fire for a cold day topped the experience off.

Great food, really cosy country pub with a roaring log fire, excellent service, decent beer. What else does anyone need? Tuesday lunchtime with a pretty good crowd in - that says a lot! Update: just been back for a group lunch. If anything, it's got better. So good.😋

Visited for a birthday a year ago (April 2022) and went back 18th Feb 2023 and thoroughly enjoyed both times. The service and food was impeccable. I always recommend this pub to my friends/family. The portions and a good size and we love that the fries are served in a big bowl to share out. The pudding menu is amazing, such a vast and delicious range - we always struggle to choose because there’s so much choice. The only thing we’d say is when serving the fries, a pair of tongs would be better than a spoon. I’m sure we’ll be visiting again.

Main course, Steak & ale pie, excellent. Fruit crumble and custard was warm/tepid at best, plates cold. Flavour good.

Had lunch here 4 days ago and it was ok but nothing special. My prawn cocktail starter was large but unfortunately the prawns were tasteless with masses of salad leaves. My main course was salmon which was overcooked and dry, the salad was massive and would have benefitted from salad dressing. The best bit were the new potatoes. It was also quite cold. Won't rush back
