Thai Rama Iv Restaurant in Herefordshire, County of

As a group of friends we have been coming to the Thai Rama for the last 10 years. The food is excellent, the service perfect. We mostly do lunches (you do need to book before you turn up as it’s their least busy time and so they may close early) but have also done dinners and buffets. I would not go anywhere else for Thai food, just perfect. Flavoursome food, well presented and reasonably priced. My favourite is the Thai green chicken curry and the hot soup.

Booked here for 4 ( two couples) for 7.30 after theatre. Nice place, nice staff. We had set menu for £ 22 meal set D . Crispy duck starter .plate taken up with lettuce and carrot decorations. Enough for 2 tiny pancakes each Mains came out on four small plates for 4 of us plates again taken up with lettuce and carrot decoration which are a waste . Portion sizes so small for price paid. We have been to a number of Thai restaurants and never left hungry It was Chinese food not Thai. Nice but seriously need to get rid of all that lettuce & carrot and improve portion size in its place for price charged.

Lovely restaurant with friendly welcoming staff. Buffet meal - not a massive selection, but food was high quality and fresh! We would definitely go again if we are in the area.

Lovely friendly welcome as always for a meet up with friends. Great food in a lovely atmosphere, attentive staff happy to help with any need. Our fourth visit and we will continue to visit them. Many congratulations to the management and the team for creating such a lovely venue.

I had a takeaway meal from here, the best bit was the rice which was lovely. The chicken satay skewers were probably not made on site but bought in, flat tasteless and stringy and were probably not cooked over charcoal (as advertised). My main course was (as another reviewer has mentioned) more like a mediocre Chinese takeaway than a restaurant standard subtly flavoured Thai dish. As others have observed, if you have eaten at other Thai restaurants, the food here is not up with the best of them. I don’t like leaving poor reviews, I would far rather have come away satisfied that my money was well spent. Maybe I just had a bad experience because the good and excellent reviews here far outweigh the negative ones, but I do know my food and can only report what I found.

Amazing Thai buffet, so fresh, lovely setting. We didn’t feel rushed, dining room wasn’t overcrowded and food was constantly being replenished. Plenty of selection, will definitely go again if we are ever in the area

We have been going to this restaurant for over ten years now. It is a firm favourite of ours and we keep coming back. The food is excellent and the Sunday buffet very good value for money. The restaurant is clean and has a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. The staff are always accommodating, friendly and helpful. This place is a real gem! Highly recommend.

Found this lovely restaurant while staying locally and fancied something other than good pub food. A very well established restaurant of 14 years, a family run establishment, which did not disappoint. It was a milestone birthday for my husband, hence the trip. We were delighted by the decor, the koi carp swimming in their beautifully appointed aquarium,. The menu was excellent, the hosts were friendly but carried out their role in a quiet unobtrusive way. The food was gorgeous, a good selection on the wine list too. We enjoyed it so much that we booked for the next night too and again, we loved the whole atmosphere of the place. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Lovely food at the Sunday buffet - and lovely people too. Despite being busy they also managed to also prepare a takeaway for us to take back for my husband who missed out on the trip! Thank you Thai Rama. Already looking forward to next years annual pilgrimage :-)

This was our third visit to this restaurant, which is now our firm favourite. Food was, again, excellent and plentiful - really can't understand how anyone could describe the portions as small! The service was, as always, efficient and very friendly and we had a brilliant evening. This was a celebratory meal to mark two birthdays in our family and we had our two grandchildren with us. They live a fair distance away and, although we booked for 6 p.m. the youngest child soon became very tired after the long journey - and the staff kindly allowed him to sleep on a sofa and even turned off the lights above him! They also obliged by bringing out the birthday cake we had brought and joining in with our singing of "Happy Birthday - and they eve took a photo for our family album. Really cannot praise this restaurant and the staff too highly. Thank you for a lovely family evening

On Sundays they offer a buffet which does have a decent selection 5* Hidden gem in the Malvern Hills. Convenient parking lot at the entrance of a relatively new residential development. Recommend you book ahead and go for the earlier seating of the 2 offered (12-1:30 or 1:30-3). We booked the 1:30 and although it was busy the buffet wasn’t replenished as readily as we expected -1*. We all needed to make multiple trips to sample a bit of everything. About 2:15 the staff made rounds to ask if people wanted more of anything specific from the kitchen as they were not replenishing the buffet at all by then. In hindsight a great way to avoid wastage but at the time didn’t want to make a fuss for a ‘special’ order. Might do next time now that I know this seems to be their norm. Exceptional service, when I Booked I mentioned we were in a hurry as had theatre booked, the delight young lady remembered and everything was swift. Prawn crackers were the best I have tasted in a Thai restaurant, crispy , flavoured and punchy. We had the set menu which excelled, each dish was served fresh and hot. Staff were very happy and professional in very lovely surroundings. Absolutely will be back , well done to the entire team and chefs, thank you.

We visited this restaurant for Sunday buffet on the way home from a holiday. Having originally booked for 1:30 we realised that traffic was going to make us late, and called to see if this would be a problem. We finally arrived half an hour before the end of service, to a warm welcome. When going to get food from the buffet we were told to let them know if there wasanything we wanted that had run out, and they would make more for us. They also brought us over mixed starters, fruit, and several dessert without being asked. The food was all good, and the service was great. We will definitely be back.

Love this place. Quick pre-theatre dinner absolutely beautiful and lovely Happy staff. Highly recommended. Just be careful with where this is as it seems to come up as Malvern on a lot of websites, but it’s actually Colwall so bear in mind you have a taxi ride from Malvern.

Excellent food and great service at this family favourite. We enjoyed the set menus fish and meat and they were both delicious. We enjoy coming to this hidden gem and are never disappointed.

The setting was very nice, staff were friendly but one of them did not bring my friend and I new napkins despite confirming that she would. The starters were adequate but nothing special. The three of us had different things but agreed about the portion sizes. I had jasmine garlic rice £5.50 which was a good portion and very good quality, however the meat dish Gai phad med mamuang £9.95 (chicken with cashew nuts) although tasty was a very small portion perhaps only a third of what I expected.

Went there for Mother's day buffet. The buffet food generally empty, serving spoons floating inside the curry and nobody bothered getting them out. One instance saw staff just dip their bare hands in the curry to fish the serving spoon out. Found a hair in my food. Clearly not the sign of a 5 star hygiene rating. I showed it to the staff and the argument I got back was that this is white / blonde, the staff all have black hair. And after all that, the audacity of the manager - rather than coming to apologise at the table, still applied a 10% service charge in the bill. When I refused to pay the service charge and gave a reason that you had hair in my food and generally quite appalling service - he just smiled it off. Its a cheap buffet .. for a reason !

Best Thai food I have ever had. I keep coming back. Lots of great Thai dishes to choose from, the food is delicious and the service is really friendly. Can’t recommend the Thai Rama enough.

If you enjoy Thai cuisine then you simply must visit the Thai Rama in Colwall. If you have never had Thai food then it’s also a must try. The formal sit down meals are excellent, with a wide menu choice and attentive, friendly service in a beautiful environment. They are happy to tailor your choices if you want a dish a bit hotter or a bit milder. They cater for food allergies as well, just let them know when you arrive or when ordering. If you are not sure what to have then the Sunday buffet is a must as you can try from 20+ delicious dishes, and keep going back to try something else. You will need to book in advance for this as it is very popular. The Thai Rama is a great choice for an intimate meal, family occasion or just friends meeting up. The food is excellent, the service spot on and all prepared in a 5***** hygiene rated kitchen, what more could you ask for?

During cv-19 restrictions this establishment has done extremely well to apply social distancing measures without it impacting on the ambiance. The decor and furnishings are on point and provide a very authentic dining experience.The staff are extremely polite with an air of gentile. We were shown to our table efficiently and left to peruse the menu. Some 15 minutes later our drink order was taken and drinks delivered swiftly. It was another 15 minutes before we were approached for our food order. There is definitely room for improvement with attentiveness. When our starters arrived we were impressed with the quantity on the plates and worried we wouldn't be able to manage a starter and main. Our concerns were short lived once we realised that 50% of the food on the plates was raw cabbage. Now don't get me wrong, I'm all for a little plate dressing and garnish, it adds to the spectacle, after all we do tend to eat with our eyes. However, I really don't like wasting food, it's unnecessary and shortsighted, especially in the current economic climate. If you can't enjoyably consume the 'prettys' they shouldn't be on the plate. The food I ordered was very nice, I hasten to add. My dining companion, on the other hand, struggled with the tough & fibrous texture of her deep fried pandan leaves and ended up discarding them all. Yet more waste.We held out hope for the mains, which were quick to arrive once the staff had cleared the table. Yet again the serving platters were fully laden and again they were 50% inedible raw cabbage, making the portions very small. The tofu and glass noodle main was miniscule. A few tablespoons at most of noodles and 5 small squares of tofu. Whilst it was delicious I was left wanting much more. The beef main, whilst tender and plentiful fell flat insofar as flavour was concerned and was crying out for more sauce. We ordered a couple of sides to accompany the mains, again portion sizes were very small once we'd separated the inedibles. The plain noodles contained big lumps of scrambled egg and a selection of vegetables; not exactly plain? But enjoyable none the less. The coconut rice was more like a rice pudding with some extra coconut cream indiscriminately mixed in for good measure. It was so sweet and porridge like it really didn't sit well as part of a main meal.Overall we left feeling disappointed. Some parts were bad, some parts were OK, some parts were good, but only one dish (the tofu with glass noodles) hit the mark with regards to exceptional flavour. Remove some of the wasteful garnish, put a little extra food on the plates, and a 4 star review would have been given.

We booked a table taking advantage of the government eat out to help out scheme and were met by a very helpful waitress who explained the Covid rules in place. After ordering our food we didn’t have to wait too long and the food that arrived was exquisite. Very well presented and the same high standard was applied to the main course. We will definitely be returning for more, also very high praise for the staff as well as the food.

This was the first time my three sons and I have been out with my parents since lock down. As usual we were not disappointed by the wonderful food and the kind, attentive service. All swiftly and safely done under the Covid guidelines. It was a thoroughly enjoyable meal and evening out for all, lovely to come back.

We booked the Thai Rama IV which was essential both for the COVID restrictions and because they were really busy during the Government Eat Out to Help Out Scheme.Food was delicious, although the sizzling fish dish was not exactly what I had anticipated, coming in a thick tangy sauce rather than on a sizzling platter.Service was excellent and attentive and the COVID measures in place were efficient, reassuring and largely unobtrusive.

Usually I’m not a big fan of Thai but my boyfriend and I were in Malvern on a staycation and decided to give Thai Rama a go, I was not disappointed. There is not one bad thing I can say about this restaurant. The decor is authentic, the safety protocols since coronavirus were second to none, the staff were lovely and most importantly the food was incredible! I would 100% recommend this restaurant to anyone. When we first arrived it was quite empty but as time went on it got busier and busier and that was a sign that this place is a must. The menu has soooo much choice and I actually ordered something different to usual, I think it was called Phad Moo Prik Sod (pork dish) and I would 100% recommend for those that don’t fancy a curry. I cannot rave about this place enough, even the satay and chilli sauces were delicious, didn’t taste like the shop bought stuff at all. 10/10 can’t recommend enough!!!

We love the food, setting and staff of this lovely restaurant. Obviously at the moment they are not open for table service but are offering their entire menu in takeaway form. Just phone up, arrange a pick up time and select what you want from the menu, this being the difficult part as there is so many fabulous dishes to choose from.On arrival you are met outside, with the appropriate physical distancing, with your meal all boxed up and ready to enjoy. Although you miss out on the ambiance of the restaurant, the food is just as delicious as it would have been if it had been served to you. If you have a reasonable distance to travel you may need to quickly reheat it in the microwave, but that's to be expected. The only thing I would do differently is crisp up the spring rolls for a few minutes in the oven as they were not quite as crispy as they would normally be, but that was my fault.Eating out (or takeaways in) for us is always challenging as my son has several allergies, however this is not a problem as the staff let you know what items will be OK and if they can will happily change a dish to make it safe.I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone who loves Thai food.

This is a gem of a place. We had booked to attend the Sunday buffet for Mothers Day. Having eaten here before we can say the food is exceptional. Everything has so much flavour and is beautifully cooked. The staff are brilliant too. For obvious reasons, (the virus!) the buffet could not go ahead. They rang well ahead to let us know and suggested we ordered a take away instead. We did so. They met us at the car at a specific time having pre-paid. No entry to the restaurant to minimise disruption. No contact once they met us. They were so grateful for the custom they included some wonderful extras: soup, dessert & cake. We were most impressed with the way the staff coped with this unforeseen event and now we understand they did the same for large numbers. We highly recommend them.

I moved to Colwall about 14 months ago and was delighted to discover this gem of a Thai restaurant. I have tried both the Sunday buffet and evening meals and can honestly say the food is exceptional! Everything has so much flavour and is beautifully cooked. I went today for the buffet with a large group of 20 of us. The restaurant was full and I was most impressed with the way the staff coped with the large numbers and catered for everyone. I highly recommend it!

Have always liked Thai food and love Thailand. When the four of us arrived we were greeted by a lovely lady in thai outfit and shown a table.We ordered our food and did not have to wait long for the starter or the main course, The food was excellent, as was the wine. We enjoyed our evening so much that we have booked our Golden Wedding celebration for family and friends.

I brought my Chinese friends including my 3 yo God daughter Daisy & my 78 yo Father who likes plain English food (seriously!) here for lunch yesterday. The restaurant was extremely busy but there's always enough professional, calm & welcoming staff so you're never kept waiting too long. (& they're all so beautifully dressed, it's a pleasure to be in their company.) I'm afraid we lost control of our 3yo....she trotted off to make friends with the other children & the fish....but us adults had a superb lunch. We had the seafood banquet & my trad Dad coped with chicken & rice. The decor is stunning. Lots of parking. The staff are simply the best. You deserve to be so busy & are clearly doing brilliant business in this rural setting.

We have made a special detour on our way north from London especially to eat at this restaurant. We were not disappointed and had a lovely meal as on every visit we made!

We went on Saturday night as a family of four, and the food was delicious. We shared a hot & spicy buffet, and were stuffed by the end. The service was really friendly, and we had a really enjoyable night! About the fourth time we've been here, and will be back.

Beautiful setting but the food was just ok, I didn’t find the ingredients especially the veg to be of good quality and the service was a little painful with translation. A few errors made, it wouldn’t stop us coming back but wouldn’t rush back either.

My first visit but wont be my last!!! Best Thai restaurant I've visited... so many dishes on the buffet .All were piping hot ,even the chicken nuggets for my little one were proper breast pieces . The food tasted fab. Very clean clean and the staff were very polite and helpful. £11.95 each which is very cheap considering the quality of food. The childs price should be £6.95 But the only charged £2 as they said she didn't eat a lot.

Please if you can visit this restaurant you wont be disapointed!!! My husband and I went here with friends who live in the area and we were so impressed with everything!! From time we arrived until time we left it was lovely. All the staff were so friendly. On a Sunday they do a buffet for set price and you can eat as much as you liked. There was plenty of vegan choices on buffet but as son as i said to one of the staff i was vegan she bought out a tray about 5 minutes later laden with vegan food. My husband and our friends who are not vegan were equally impressed as they too had huge choice of lovely food. Plenty of parking

Friendly, helpful service. You can get wine by bottle or glass and there's more than one choice per colour by the glass, which is helpful.

We were visited by a Japanese family this week so we all pulled out all the stops to take them to the best place locally. The Thai Rama is a lovely, smart looking venue with an atmospheric koi fish pond and plenty of space so that romantic couples or large groups like ours are easily catered for. The management/staff are impeccable. This is an example of how a niche restaurant should be run. We were running a little late as we had all been horse riding nearby and there was 11 of us not the booked 7. Nothing was a problem. Tables were reorganised with professionalism & no drama. Most of us had sea food which was all excellent. I like all the salad decoration....Who isn't impressed by a carrot flower? I'm not sure what the kids had as they were down the other end but there didn't seem to be any complaints from them. I love sea food but there was plenty of vegetarian/vegan options. To be honest if I wanted to impress a visitor/partner or date and take them out in the Malvern Hills area. I would bring them here!

The Thai Rama IV gave us a fantastic meal. The staff could not have been more helpful. They swapped out seafood from the mixed starters to accommodate our allergies. The ambiance was great too.

Visited recently for the Sunday buffet, we didn’t book but thankfully managed to get a table. We were greeted with a very warm welcome and told we weren’t allowed to leave until we were full! The restaurant was pretty busy so I’d book in future. The Sunday buffet is very reasonably priced and the selection of food was brilliant. The trays of different items weren’t particularly large but they kept refilling them with fresh which to me is a much better option. Lots of different salads, starters, 2 soups and various mains. You can go up as many times as you want and just keep helping yourselves. There is also a selection of deserts but we were so full we just had some fruit! We will definitely come back again to sample some different dishes.
