The best restaurants in South West

My family booked Dave for a special meal to celebrate my 70th birthday. During the lead up to the event he clearly built a great rapport with the family; offering great advice & being incredibly imaginative in flexing to suit dietary requirements. On the evening, he created a great atmosphere right from walking in through the door. He & his assistant used the kitchen & dining facilities in our holiday house rental to great effect. Dave brought each course to life as he explained the ingredients & how he had prepared each course. He presented beautiful looking plates with fantastic tasting food which was cooked to perfection. This was a very special occasion & Dave slotted into the evening perfectly. His personality and expertise made it all extra special; a meal that will be long remembered. We have already started recommending him to our friends.

Recientemente visité la cafetería Wild River en Polperro, y fue una delicia absoluta! Ubicado en la calle principal, esta acogedora cafetería ofrece un ambiente cálido y acogedor. El café recién tostado, de un solo origen es una necesidad - pruebe (¡incluso puede comprar algunos para llevar a casa! ) , y los pasteles caseros son perfectos. El personal era increíblemente acogedor y atento, lo que hace que nuestra visita sea aún más agradable a pesar de que el tiempo era horrible. Sin duda vale la pena pasar por si incluso estás en la zona.

We heard a rumour about this cafe... and my gosh did it surpass every expectation we could have imagined! Amazing service and the best home made cafe food! Plenty of inside and outside seating and dog friendly!We will be coming back when we’re in the area again!

We had afternoon tea arranged on our narrow boat to celebrate a birthday treat. The food was of excellent quality, beautifully presented with everything for tea making and a superb selection of sandwiches and cakes, the best we have experienced anywhere. One of our party needed gluten free selection and this was also done very well. Congratulations to the caterers, you did a splendid job.

Can't recommend No.8 Cafe enough. Friendly staff. Nice inside and out. Off the East Street so nice and secluded. I had the Little Breakfast - which was enough and very tasty. Every element well made and sourced. I especially like the mushroom with thyme, cooked for a perfect amount of time and not swimming in butter like usual. Bang on! Had a really nice coffee too. Go!

Mi amigo y yo visitamos este fabuloso restaurante vegano en Boscombe , Bournemouth . Es una pequeña joya de un lugar, con un personal atento y amable y sabrosa comida saludable. Comenzamos con un par de batidos , que estaban deliciosos , y tenían algunos platos para compartir . Comimos tres Amigos empanadas , los bollos hermanos que eran albóndigas en una salsa de curry , Tajadas que eran de Plátano ( como plátanos ) y por último Salsa papa wedges . Todo estaba delicioso. Me gustó mucho la vibra feliz de este lugar. Lo recomendaría encarecidamente. Tendrá que traer sus propias bebidas - consulte con ellos - ya que no hay bebidas / menú de alcohol aparte de batidos.

An amazing hidden gem tucked away waiting for you to find. We ordered 3 pizzas and 2 sides to share between 4 of us and it was more than enough. The food was perfect, the atmosphere so relaxed from the moment we got there we felt welcome. The area is free for kids to play in the play area and run about which is just what my two needed and with other kids there I got some much needed down time with one of their lovely cocktails. A brilliant evening ready for another visit in a few weeks.

Used to be very good and dog friendly but now very rude and anti dog not friendly not worth going in to anymore customer service non existent

Had a lovely stop mid-mooch in Barnstaple for a cuppa & cake. Owner was friendly & helpful, giving good recommendations on which treats to pick. Took some pics for us which was appreciated. Cakes were delicious!

Had a really nice evening in this small restaurant in a great setting. Host very friendly and nothing too much trouble.

We are supporting this independent coffee shop by popping in for our weekly fix of superb coffee and in house bakes. Listen to albums from a huge selection as we relax in a friendly atmosphere.

Had a family trip to the Hop for their roast dinner. Absolutely gorgeous food, as always. We had roast lamb, beef and pork and all were amazing. Also sampled some puds, toffee sponge pudding and lemon tart was also just as good. A+ You’ve definitely got to try eating here. Book to ensure a table on Sunday

Great little hidden Pizza place just behind the sea front at Seaton. Nice ambience and friendly and helpful staff. The Pizzas are not the usual run of the mill drowning in toppings and hope you don't notice they all taste the same .... rather they combine uncommon ingredients on a large edge thin based 12" - things like roasted artichoke, Mackerel, lemon zest, even honey. The results are simply mouth wateringly superb.

I’m a cyclist and have come to wild carrot many times over the last few years. It’s steadily got more expensive whilst service has nose dived. It’s home to the most expensive coffee in the area (£3.70 for a flat white) and I had to wait for 19 mins after paying and not even a sorry. All food seems extortionately priced. Such a shame as it’s a lovely setting, but I won’t ever come again.
