Had a family trip to the Hop for their roast dinner. Absolutely gorgeous food, as always. We had roast lamb, beef and pork and all were amazing. Also sampled some puds, toffee sponge pudding and lemon tart was also just as good. A+ You’ve definitely got to try eating here. Book to ensure a table on Sunday

Popped in for a Sunday Lunch, don’t normally eat roasts out as their never as good as home cooked in general, but have to say this was one of the best Sunday roasts we have ever eaten in a pub. Everything was superbly cooked, great portion sizes, great service and great value! Thank you!

The best Sunday lunch I have ever had in a pub. I had the veggie version and it was excellent. Everything cooked to perfection. The staff were lovely and the pub was great

We discovered The Hop Inn on Tripadvisor (looked at the 🌟 rating) What a wonderful experience we had from the friendly staff and the service that they provided. Equally as good is the beer and food. You should visit you won’t be disappointed.

Just nipped out for a Sunday roast after a busy family weekend and visited The Hop. Managed to get a space at the bar and ordered a roast beef and roast chicken. Both meats were excellent and the veg (baby carrots, red cabbage, sugar snap peas and garden peas) was cooked to perfection. Proper roast potatoes (not from the freezer) and proper gravy which they automatically brought extra of without having to ask. Food has become a big part of this pub so top marks to the chef.

Great menu - can’t think of anything else I want on a pub menu - Burgers, Mac & Cheese, Bratwurst, loaded chips. Great variety too that’ll surely tickle anyone’s tastebuds. I had the lamb burger which was meaty but minty and fresh. My gf had the confit / hoisin Duck Mac & Cheese which I initially thought was a strange combination, but was actually very good. Quick service. Very decent Swindon pub

I called in this evening for a pre dinner drink. It’s more of an ale pub than a bar, as I asked for Kraken rum and they didn’t have it. The staff were pleasant enough and the set up was good, however I didn’t care for all the abstract art for sale on the walls. I feel whoever painted them needs to come in and paint the walls of the bar, as they look desperately in need of a lick of paint.

This was another stopping point on the Cheltenham CAMRA ale amble around Swindon, late afternoon as they don’t open until 4pm. Primarily it is a showcase for Arbor Ales, no bad thing as they are generally top notch. Not the warmest service perhaps but still a ‘must visit’ for real ale lovers.

Bit of clarification first. This is now the Little Hop. The Hop, which is run by the same people, is now 2 doors down in the premises that used to be various other pubs. Clear? 😂 This, as it was before, is an ale & craft beer bar. It serves 2 good ciders, and a more than adequate variety of spirits. The ales now are mainly brewed by Arbor, but the variety of craft beers is truly mind boggling. There are draughts, bottles and pretty cans galore!! If sampling all the new beers is your thing, get yourself to Devizes road & knock yourself out. The bar itself is quite small, with rustic/industrial style furniture & it is usually quite busy or packed. Music comes in the form of a record player operated by the staff, & you can choose from the selection of LP's behind the bar or, I believe, BYO, it's "that sort of vibe" 😂 The staff are always friendly, attentive, helpful and informative. There is food available, but it is cooked at the big Hop and delivered. I'd call it exciting bar food. Wings, burgers, vegetarian & lots more. If you are visiting Swindon and love your ales and/or craft ales get yourself up to Devizes road in Old Town, & don't miss the Little Hop!

I was invited to this place with my wife and I do have to say we are not ale drinkers at all but on this night I tried a few different ales and they were not to bad at all. The icing on the cake though is the pizza that you can get with your drinks. You can have the pizza made to your requirements. Without a doubt one of the best pizza places in Swindon.

Five stars but that’s personal opinion. If you like real ale then this is one the top places in Swindon. The staff are knowledgable but get some people coming in looking for Heineken! The turnover and variety of ales is excellent. The side business of the hand made pizza is the best pizza is Swindon ( not a high bar but still an achievement). Do not go if you want cheap lager or music or soft seats.

My wife and I called at The Hop in March 2018. It was busy from 7pm, with great atmosphere. There is some nice (for sale) art on the walls. We enjoyed great cask IPA beers, with polite service. Highly recommended bar.

I asked a simple question and received a very sarcastic reply. They don’t sell the common beers on draft so asking to try one wasn’t a stupid question (so I thought). No music which is nice, however it’s very loud because they’ve no soft furnishings to soften the noise.

Went herefor a friends leaving drinks and liked it - unfussy decor and a great selection of beers and ales so go for something different! Park is nearby and easy and there are a great range of Restaurants round the corner on Wood Street so this is a nice place to start - or finish!

A bit on the small size but served well kept beer, would like to see this in a larger setting with a different layout, but not too large has it would lose some of it's appeal

Always a great night out in The Hop. Great selection of familiar and unusual beers and ciders. For cider drinkers you have to try 'Pheasant Plucker'. This was recommended by the Barman and it was one of the nicest ciders I've tasted.

There's always a great beer selection, which is constantly changing. I really like visiting here. The bar is a nice little place and has a good 'feel', with rustic wooden furniture and comfy sofas, it's also good not to be overwhelmed with excessively loud sports, as you might do in some pubs. This is high up on my list, and I know few other places that are so good for real ale.

This is a real gem in Old Town. Really nice atmosphere, clients are all friendly. Not masses of space to sit but part of the experience is standing around the bar choosing your next beer. They have a range of beers from local artisan breweries but also a great range of bottled beer including German wheat beer. Staff & owner are super friendly. Quick service too.

Living than a stone's throw has helped to make this bespoke little waterhole my favoured pub. What it lacks in size is certainly made up for in all round quality! The decor is clean and welcoming with many original wood features and bespoke tables. There are always 5/6 real ales on tap including the house session beer. The beer is always served at the right temps and the staff are welcoming, knowledgable and friendly. The beers are widely sourced so you can expect tipples from across the country. The beer can change from one day to the next, as 'once it's gone it's gone'. For me that is what makes this place so inviting, because you never know what the next waiting gem will be!Don't visit if you want a pint of mainstream Lager whilst watching football..This is a proper pub.

Who would have thought it, a real pub in Swindon at last. Great real ale bar (Ales, cider, craft lagers and much more), great people in front and behind the bar. Thought twice about writing this as I wanted to keep it to myself, but it's just too good to keep quiet about. Look forward to every visit and haven't been disappointed once in all the time they have been running. I'll be back!

This place is a gem. Great atmosphere, superb friendly staff and the best beer in town. Every pint of ale, pilsner, cider, or lager is locally crafted and sourced, you won't find mass produced standard lagers that just taste like carbonated water on tap at this place, it's the real deal. Even the spirits are not your usual standard 'behind every bar' affair, and many of the craft ales are rotated weekly so there's always something new to try as well a staple of some of the favourites. Genuinely the best place for proper pint in town, try it once, you'll be back.

We stopped here for dinner yesterday. I would definitely recommend booking as we tried the day before but they were really busy. I had the burger and my husband had the fish and chips. The food was really good, big portions and very tasty. We spent about £45 for two main courses and two large glasses of wine. It’s located just off the M4 Swindon so a good place to break up a journey.
