Lovely family cafe and restaurant. Home made pasta being made as we had scones, cakes and teas. Incredibly hospitable. Super seated environment. Very highly recommended. Definitely will come again when in this part of Cornwall. Stunning environment.

Found this place on way into the villlage…definitely worth a stop! Had great coffee and delicious mackerel pate and quiche for lunch. They had a great selection of cakes and cream tea too. Lovely family running the business, good service :)

Pretty little cafe/eatery on the way down from the main car park in Polperro. Very welcoming and friendly staff who served us the the best Flat White coffee we’ve had in a long time! Hubby opted for a bacon and egg sandwich and I had a slice of Victoria sponge cake … both were absolutely delicious , don’t pass it by on the way down to the harbour … call in , there are lots of homemade , locally produced dishes on offer …you will not be disappointed …We will certainly be back !

A gem on the way down from the car park to the harbour; great coffee and fantastic brownie; relaxed atmosphere; casual but stylish interior; welcoming staff. Will definitely head back soon to try lunch!

We were passing & noted the jam & cream scones, so popped in. The lady cooked the scones whilst we were there & they were delicious, well worth the wait 😊. The staff were very friendly.

Went for lunch last week with my family and the wheelchair for my mom . What a lovely little cafe this is . The scones are absolutely delicious , home made and very well priced . I will certainly be returning when i get to Polperro on my SWCP journey . Very nice and helpful staff .

Such a good find! We stopped off for a coffee on our way down the winding road to polperro harbour. Very pleased we did. The cheese scone we had was perfection and served with homemade chilli jam. We liked it so much we decided to come back for lunch later. We tried the mackerel pate, all homemade, served with 3 fresh salads. All delicious and the perfect size and price for a light lunch. So glad we found you. Highly recommended. Lovely service from the young team.

Having read the reviews, we had expected more from The Kitchen. But both the service and the food were average at best. The food was all under seasoned and the duck was tough. The lady serving was very pleasant but had nobody helping her and seemed a bit overwhelmed. Admittedly, restaurants have only just reopened so hopefully, they will be able to cope better soon.

I booked this restaurant for our silver wedding anniversary the 1st day we could eat in restaurants.Debbie the owner was very accommodating by taking in flowers I'd organised for my wife out of hours.The food was AMAZING. The steak was to die for and we can't recommend this restaurant highly enough.Good luck for The Kitchen Polperro for the future.

We had such a wonderful meal, especially because it wasn’t easy to find somewhere that would definitely be open on a Sunday evening for a nice meal and very glad we choose The Kitchen as they were very welcoming. More so because we had a two year old with us, but it was so relaxed that our daughter was enjoyed it and happily ate some of what we were eating, she particularly enjoyed eating my cod.

Just returned from our second visit, fabulous food and atmosphere. Hubby recommends fish and duck. I had excellent vegetarian choice, tofu to start and parsnip croquettes for main - delicious

We were staying in Polperro for a week and booked a table for my birthday, a very cosy intimate restaurant with a simple but plentiful menu, we have eaten all over the world in michelin star restaurants and the food here is right up there, all local and cooked to perfection, so much so we managed to sneak in a second booking while we were there, we live 400 miles away from Polperro and have already booked a table for March, if you want to try it you will need to book to ensure a table..I would go through all the dishes we ate but you can choose any and you won't be disappointed, be sure to have the cheese platter if you like your cheese!

Visited last night and had a fab evening. The food, wine and service were all excellent - one of the best meals we’ve all had in a long time. We enjoyed it so much that we asked to book a table at Christmas.

Had dinner here on a rainy Tuesday , restaurant is very small but nicely decorated.The food was very good had Mussel's which had great flavor followed by Fillet steak served with a port reduction and Cornish chesses to follow . Was definitely value for money compared to other places in Polperro. Will be back next year

What a fabulous little restaurant and fine dining experience. Monkfish scampi followed by a delicious cod dish with pancetta and samphire and fillet steak (cooked to perfection). Everything from the wine to the cornish cheese board delivered. Be sure to book! On our visit they had 3 cancellations probably due to the weather so do call if it says fully booked you might be lucky.

First time we went here was on honeymoon many years ago! The proprietors have changed in that time but the quality hasn't.Only 6 tables makes it feel cosy, exclusive, and attentive.Food is simply and freshly cooked. Just the right length menu - enough for a good choice but not boringly long. Vegan and vegetarian choices as well as excellent fish and meat options. We had perfectly cooked mussels in cider with chives and chorizo; goat's cheese and fig chutney; curried monkfish (so soft!); and caramel panna cotta with gingerbread. All gorgeous.Can't recommend this place enough.

The food was really tasty. I tried the monk fish curry and really enjoyed it. The choice wasn’t vast, but the taste made up for this. Maybe a whisker pricey but this was the norm for the south coast

We had dinner at The Kitchen on a Thursday night. It was fully booked, which goes to show how fabulous it really is. The waitress was polite and knowledgeable and the kitchen followed all the government guidelines for COVID. We ate mussels (A MUST!), the mukfish bites (A MUST) to start and Duck (delicious) and cod for main. If you are visiting the area the kitchen is a must visit, it’s quaint, cosy and very welcoming. The parking is roughly a 5/10 minute walk from the kitchen (depending on your speed). We will visit again. Thank you.

We booked in advance after receiving an email with the tables free. Glad we did. A long lovely little place with only 6 tables. The menu was limited which suited us perfectly ( We don't like pages and pages of choices. I had the cod, my wife had the lamb. Both were cooked to perfection. Desserts were limited as well but delicious.Our server was pleasant and we weren't rushed to make our choices , but for us, the food was outstanding.Well worth a visit when coming to Polperro.

We ate at The Kitchen early September, lovely service, gorgeous food, lovely little restaurant all socially distanced, perfect evening.My wife had Hake and I had the lamb both perfectly cooked and presented.I had the mussels as a starter and they were the best mussels I’ve ever tasted don’t miss these if yo eat here.Everything was perfect I’d recommend eating here.

Probably the best meal we had in Polperro last weekend. My husband & I had the Monkfish & Mussels started followed by a beautiful Cod dish & Duck in passion sauce. Recommend pre-booking as very popular.

Food to die for, we ate there once in our weeks holiday, we would have visited more but fully booked, we will visit again when back on holiday in/nr Polperro.

The restaurant is small (only 12 covers) with a very relaxed & homely atmosphere - we had duck & lamb, both nicely cooked with delicious dauphinoise potatoes (speciality of the house), followed by a Cornish cheese board & bacardi flavoured pineapple with coconut sorbet - what's not to like?

A visit to this restaurant is a must if you're staying in or near to Polperro - the mussels are superb, steak and lamb both cooked to perfection. Service is so friendly and nothing too much trouble. Lovely cosy restaurant. Would highly recommend. A very talented chef.

We went for a meal this evening well what can I say the food was out or this world couldn't fault anything staff very friendly nothing too much trouble very very highly recommend will definately be returning for more well done debbie and team you are amazing

Our first meal out since Feb - it is a lovely friendly restaurant with very good standard food and very reasonable price. We had the Tofu & Fish as starters and the Duck and Lamb as mains. We left feeling full and content. They appeared to be taking all the necessary Covid precautions. It is a small restaurant so would advise booking well in advance to avoid disappointment. Only negative was it could have used some music to add to the atmosphere.

Lovely restaurant. Good atmosphere, great service & food freshly cooked. Would especially recommend the mussels & also the hake if available. The duck was my wife’s favourites. Cheeseboard is alone worth the visit. Suggest you book so you won’t be disappointed.

We seriously had a fantastic evening dining at The Kitchen. Tina our fab wait person had us in fits of laughter and engaging all the diners. The food was top class and very reasonably priced. Do yourself a favour and dine in this wonderful restaurant. Loved it all. Thank you to The Kitchen for a great night.

We dined here on a cold windy and rainy night. As soon as we entered we were greeted warmly and the small restaurant was nicely decorated. We had mussels as a starter and hake for our main courses then finished with passion fruit pavlova. All was delicious! Highly recommend this little gem in Polperro.

We visited The Kitchen on 22 August for an evening a la carte meal. This is a lovely place to eat. All the staff are so warm and friendly it was a joy to be there.The menu offered a wide range of food and our selected options were delicious and the size of that Eton Mess! We will have no hesitation in eating here again and are happy to recommend to others. Andy Swannell

Wouldn't advise you visit this place. Limited menu and only open 3 hours a day! And the food was only average and overpriced.

This place is a petite gem in Polperro. The food is delicious , starter of Fowey muscles shared with my sister, the best muscles I have ever had , mains fillet of Halibut with a lobster bisque sauce , cooked to perfection , desert .. slightly disappointed that they had no walnut pie left but was offered the most amazing home made baked vanilla cheesecake with salted caramel sauce , I was in heaven !!! The service and food was faultless ...

Visited on honeymoon in 1979, and a couple of times since. The food in this friendly little restaurant was stunning. I had Monkfish “scampi”then Lamb and my wife Hake. The large Strawberry and Passion fruit Pavlova was really nice. Highly recommend this place. Staff are friendly and attentive.

Lovely service and atmosphere. Highlights were vegan spring rolls and lamb main course. Veggie main (tagine) was a bit disappointing compared to the fab vegan starter, and compared to the beautifully presented fish and excellent lamb courses. Flexible approach to likes and dislikes and a great welcome from front of house staff member.

Superb meal. Lovely cosy atmosphere. Must be the best to be had for miles around. We had the hake and cod. Generous portions of succulent fish with delicious vegetable combinations of spinach, samphire and leeks. SA Chenin Blanc perfect accompaniment.

A pleasant meal with lovely staff who really looked after us. My husband and son really enjoyed the food, and the service was good. I found that the chairs were really uncomfortable, like garden chairs, which sounds silly but it did spoil my evening a bit.

We loved this place so much we booked again for our last night's stay. The service was very welcoming and efficient. It's a small place with slightly quirky ornaments, a good talking point! The food is fabulous the chef is excellent. Lovely atmosphere and some banter along the way!

we loved the kitchen so much we ate their twice. its only a small restaurant, but the decor is lovely from the cheese grater lamp shades to the mincer table lamp lovely. Tina the waitress is wonderful, she had her work cut out with my husband kenny, service was better than excellant,and great fun xx now the food again better than excellant, i had fish the first night and duck the second, my husband had duck the first night then steak the second, debby the chefs attention to detail is beyond compare thank you xx the desserts omg the walnut tart yes yes yes xxx the chocolate pud with squidy melting chocolate in the middle omg yes yes yes xx if you only go to polperro for the day this restaurant is a must go to, were only sorry we only went twice in our weeks stay. We enjoyed a beautiful dinner at The Kitchen 3 weeks ago when visiting Polperro for a weekend. The food was absolutely divine and the service very good. From memory I think our waitress was called Tina, she was lovely.

If You visit Polperro on a Thursday - Sunday I would highly recommend a dinner at the Kitchen. You get everything You need to have a lovely meal experience! Best service and Tina, excellent food and a nice small place with a chatty environment.

This is by far the best dining experience we have ever had in the U.K. if you are in Polperro and want an amazing world class level dining experience without the stuffiness of dressing up, this is the place! You will love it. The chef is an artist and will play your tastebuds like a legendary jazz pianoist! We went for our 30th wedding anniversary and I am so glad we did!

We went to the kitchen at the end of June for a meal while we were staying in Looe. We had 3 courses and everything was good. Cooked well and served by a great lady. We had a bit of banter with her and she was good fun and very polite. The restaurant is quite small but as there is only 1 lady who does the cooking, everything was served fresh. We would certainly recommend going here and when we next visit Cornwall we will certainly be going back.

Had an evening meal....best to book....but totally worth it....the food wine and service from start to finish was wonderful....a must to visit...

So wish we had tried here earlier in our weeks stay...I can only echo other reviews in that if you are looking for top quality food-with a relaxed friendly service then this is the place.

Visited as a family of four who love eating out and trying different restaurants. We would all highly recommend this restaurant and congratulate the team for serving such wonderful food in a nice relaxed environment. Highly recommend!

This intimate restaurant is a must on a trip to Polperro.

Had two meals here and both were fantastic. Both had the Hake on the Saturday and the Lamb rump and Duck on the Friday. Lovely food and very friendly waitress and very good value for the standard of food as this is not pub food but some of the pubs in Polperro charge nearly as much. We have been to Polperro many times over the last ten years and have eaten here several times before and it has always been excellent.

Many places were closed on the Sunday evening in Polperro but fortunately this place was open.

We visited this restaurant whilst on holiday in Polperro. It is only a small establishment, but the tasteful decor, lighting and the friendliness of the staff and owners provides a most excellent ambience. The meal was superb and the service was first rate. We had such an enjoyable evening we will definitely return in the future. I have no hesitation in recommending this delightful restaurant.

We turned up, 6.30 on a Monday night, no booking, and were warmly welcomed to this small, but nicely turned out restaurant. The waitress made a point of asking all guests if they had any allergies, even coming back to me when I mentioned that I should avoid alcohol, to check that it wasn’t an allergy as there was spirit used in the sauce, which btw was excellent. Particularly loved the walnut tart dessert! A nice place for holiday eating!

What a fantastic place , one of the friendliest restaurants I've ever been in. Largely thanks to Tina on front of house . We had the goats cheese and beetroot starter which was lovely . Then we had hake with lobster bisque , it was sensational . I then had walnut tart and salted caramel ice cream and my partner had the cheese board. Delicious , although my partner would've preferred a chutney with the cheese , not strawberries and apricots . A minor quibble , it was a beautiful evening

My husband and I went to The kitchen Restaurant yesterday for my birthday meal, the food was fantastic my husband thoroughly enjoyed his fillet steak as much as I enjoyed the lamb. From having starters through to dessert the food was faultless. Thank you Debbi and Tina for a thoroughly enjoyable evening and a big thank you for the beautiful flowers and card.

As always we have had the best dinner. Mussels with white wine and chorizo and monk fish scampi with wild garlic. Followed by Fillet steak with port and Stilton and Rosemary crusted roast lamb rump. Followed by homemade treacle tart or lemon meringue’s. All absolutely scrumptious. Staff and chef amazing. Go back every year and can’t wait to go again. The kids think it’s the best restaurant ever and they are now 11 and 13 xxx

What a wonderful eating experience! We loved everything about The Kitchen - the food was incredible (make sure you try the fillet steak!), the server was so friendly and the intimate atmosphere really makes he place. We can't wait to visit again!

We visited The Kitchen for dinner on a Sunday evening, while the tail-end of a hurricane swept through Polperro.

Chose this for my husband's birthday meal after reading good reviews on here.We weren't disappointed. Receiving a lovely warm welcome from Tina I think it is, and the owner/chef coming out to chat to us a couple of times, this 2 lady team served up a wonderful relaxed evening with amazing food. The showstopper on their menu must be the Wagu beef fillet. My husband has never eaten a better cooked steak in his life. I had the hake fillet with lobster bisque sauce on a bed of peas and leaks, so moist and well seasoned. Not overpriced, I would thoroughly recommend giving this one a visit.

Was taken to The Kitchen for a birthday meal. Have lived in Polperro for 6 years and never been. Food was excellent, (and I am fussy)! I had steak which, to be honest, was the best I have eaten. Debbi the chef made me a cheese cake for dessert - crackers , cheese and pickle (as I don't do sweets), priceless!! In all, a 5* experience with excellent service from Lisa at very reasonable cost and will be going again. Thank you for a very memorable evening. Phil.

I had a nice lamb roast here and a cheese platter for afters. The servings however were expensive and extremely small and I felt the meal wasn't even entree size let alone a main course. Please Sir, I would like some more..

Nothing short of superb, this lady (the chef) can really cook to a very high standard I could not fault it , if you are fortunate enough to book a table relax and enjoy a truly fantastic meal. I holiday in Polperro twice a year and always try to book a table and I have been going for many years now.Try it you will not be disappointed

We went having eaten 'pub food' for our previous meals in the area. A treat to get beautiful cooked food served very professionally at prices just above local pubs.

New owners since our last visit. Food is lovely. Cooked from scratch by a wonderful chef. Everything was cooked to perfection. The waitress is ummm....... Great fun! 😉 Well worth the walk down from the car park. Not to be missed.

Superb evening with special friends to celebrate the end of a busy season. My steak was cooked to perfection and all our dishes were fabulous.. Lamb and duck was wonderful. We all are everything and decided to share a mixture of 5 different pudds.. All delicious!!! Thank you Debbie and you're lovely helpers.

To be honest, we had been eating mostly pub grub in pretty Polperro and we stumbled on The Kitchen by chance. It was a superb contrast to our previous stops, added a very pleasant depth to our visit. The staff were great fun and succinct with their menu and food description. The ambience was warm and simple, uncluttered. Intimate. But not too intimate that other tables imposed. You got the feeling that the place has loyal regulars, which is a great sign.

My wife and l went back for a significant birthday treat and had the most fantastic meal.

Arrived in Cornwall on Thursday evening to find our hotel hosting a wine flight dinner which isn’t our thing , so called The Kitchen at short notice . They kindly got us in and what a great time we had . The waitress is as mad as a box of frogs , chef is a true pro and the kitchen assistant obviously enjoys the banter from the other two . Wife had fillet steak , perfect , I had hake, bleddy luverly , shared a Cornish cheese platter for dessert, all in all a right old chuckle. Thank you to all of you for a great evening :)

Last night we were in Polperro and found The Kitchen. Although the menu is quite short, it means everything can be freshly cooked. As we often do, we skipped starters and, after some discussion with the waitress, both opted for the duck. It was beautifully cooked and delicious, with a passionfruit sauce. The deauphenois potatoes were excellent. We followed a lovely, light New York cheesecake. The food, the service, and the friendly atmosphere were brilliant. It was value for money.

My husband and I went to eat here on a recommendation from locals. We were very impressed. We had eaten recently at a Michelin Star restaurant and this was better. Superb Hake entree, perfectly cooked and seasoned. Dessert did not disappoint. We immediately booked for another meal here!

My wife and I stayed in Polperro and were fortunate enough to book here. Our food was first class. The Fish just perfect, not overcooked. At the time of our visit An Australian Father and Daughter were visiting and he had never had Clotted Cream and strawberries before, before you knew it he had a bowl in front of him and his exclamation on eating his first mouthful is not printable here. Nothing too much bother for the staff. We had a great evening and unfortunately for us they were fully booked for the rest of the week or else we would have been back.

First time eating here. Excellent service, excellent food, excellent value for money! Shared the garlic prawn starter, had lamb rump and duck breast mains. Shared chocolate delice for dessert. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. Service was attentive but not pushy. Will definitely visit again.

Whenever we go to Cornwall, no matter where we stay, visiting Polperro is an Absolute Must and dining at 'The Kitchen' is an experience that is not to be missed! We visit Cornwall 3 to 4 times a year, and this Restaurant is always on our To Dine At list. The Food is amazing - the Fillet Steak really doesn't get any better - it's the best I've ever had - ever! The Service has just the right balance of both attentiveness and distance. Great atmosphere and a real pleasure to dine at one of Polperro's Finest Restaurants. We'll be back again - no doubt about that!

I dont often review and i am loathe to leave a bad one but our last visit was disappointing. We’ve eaten here a couple of times under the previous management. We’ve always enjoyed it and have been very impressed with their fillet steak. Sadly this time both fillets were riddled with sinew and served blue rather than rare. The prawn starter was dull. So overall I dont think we’ll eat here again.

We popped in early without making a reservation and met the chef and waitress. Both of who were lovely. The waitress took great care of us and made us feel fully at home.

Have visited twice now and both meals have been excellent. Fillet steak, lamb and fun chicken espetada all delicious. Very small so personal service and intimate feel but you do have to book in season. The first place we book each time we visit Polperro.

We had to book to get in - was so worth it. Food was presented to a high standard & tasted superb. The lovely lady who served us was also a credit to the restaurant- even waved to us the next day when we passed.

This is a real find with excellent food and service in a small and intimate environment. I was travelling on my own for business and felt very comfortable.

What a find! A trip to Polperro during the day a quick look in the window at the menu and then a phone call to book a table. They couldn’t take us (4) at 7.30 as they had a booking for 6 but could take 4 us at 8.00pm. No problem for us. The menu is fabulous - high quality but simple - what it says is what you get. Presentation is excellent too and we were impressed as we watched the chef plate up the food, and our service was friendly but not over friendly and efficient. Book us advance - you wont be disappointed.
