The Harp and Crown have moved to a model where they host different plant-based chefs in their kitchen. Last night we had the most creative Christmas themed menu we’ve ever had. Beautifully presented, original and good value. Pomme pave (we didn’t know what this was but it tasted amazing), and little jewels of celeriac that could be mistaken for a sweet were some of the highlights. A little gift box to take home at the end was a nice touch. We ate the contents of the gift box the following morning and the little mince pie and handmade mint cream in there were amazing. It is even more impressive that Thomas Wainwright the event chef (TasteOnTour) produced all the food on his own in the kitchen that night. Best food we have had for along time. 6 stars.

A great little place for coffee, light lunch of paninis and cakes. Good outdoor seating and perfect while exploring Corsham high street.

Wonderful restaurant and hotel! The room had tons of charms, while still having updated amenities that made it incredibly comfortable to stay. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The breakfast, dinner, and drinks were all top notch. Only potential downside of the hotel is the odd layout and low door frames (due to the age of the building) - watch your head!

5* service. Best fish & chips in Wiltshire. All the negitive Nancy's reviewing are either not genuine or just out to cause trouble.

We were visiting Whitehall Garden Centre and popped in for a hot drink and slice of cake. There was a large selection of coffees and the hot chocolate was nice and chocolatey. The cakes are all freshly made on site. Hubby enjoyed a slice of Bakewell Tart and I had the carrot cake, which had a lovely moist texture and flavour. Highly recommend. The garden centre is huge and well worth a visit too.

Absolutely dreadful! Advertised a la carte menu replaced with a 'bar' menu. Took the waiter 15 minutes to bring a menu and ask if we'd like drinks 40 minutes for food to arrive which was not hot. The pork belly my colleague had was wrapped in gooey fat not crackling, the pumpkin sauce was a teaspoon of orange 'something' and the seasonal veg was mashed potato and some peas. The chicken burger was deep fried and tasted of old fryer fat as did the 'tepid' skin in chips. Presentation of the burger was non existent and the two tiny leaves of lettuce were brown. This was fed back to the waiter when he finally returned to our table his response was he'd mention it to the Chef. The after dinner treat of sticky toffee pudding was solid and rubbery, not moist. The tiniest bit of ice cream and a token gesture at the sauce all was tepid. The dining room was cold and drafty. The decor tired and wall paper peeling off the ceiling and walls. Utterly awful experience with nobody interested in the overall shoddiness of the service and food. Really disappointing, especially as this is the closest hotel to work. A real missed opportunity for this Hotel and Restaurant.

Came to Lacock on Sunday for a lovely look around the village. He hadn't booked a place to eat and when coming across the Red Lion we asked if they could fit us in and they could. We ordered two roasts, which arrived quickly and PIPING HOT - which is rare when it comes to roasts, they usually come out cold. The amount of beef was incredible and the potatoes... I have never had a pub roast with such fluffy potatoes before. If we come back to Lacock, we will definitely be returning for either another roast or to try some more of your food. Thank you for squeezing us in!

Only 3 tables indoors. 2 ladies working who appeared to have fallen out. They were very grumpy and not one of them smiled either when serving us or bringing out tea and pasties to the table. Yea was nice, cheese and onion pasties were distinctly average. Will not be revisiting when next in the area I’m afraid

'Dropped in' for lunch on the way to Lacock Abbey and Whitehall, we hadn't booked so were pleased to get a table as it was very busy. We sat in the 'barn' which was very cosy, a great space. My husband ordered Scampi and chips ( his usual) and I had Brie and bacon chicken breast in a mushroom sauce with vegetables and mash. A very generous portion of scampi , with plenty of tartare sauce and my chicken dish was absolutely delicious with perfectly cooked broccoli and carrots and I was so pleased I ordered mash as the sauce needed 'mopping' up. Very friendly staff and will definitely visit again
