The Harp and Crown have moved to a model where they host different plant-based chefs in their kitchen. Last night we had the most creative Christmas themed menu we’ve ever had. Beautifully presented, original and good value. Pomme pave (we didn’t know what this was but it tasted amazing), and little jewels of celeriac that could be mistaken for a sweet were some of the highlights. A little gift box to take home at the end was a nice touch. We ate the contents of the gift box the following morning and the little mince pie and handmade mint cream in there were amazing. It is even more impressive that Thomas Wainwright the event chef (TasteOnTour) produced all the food on his own in the kitchen that night. Best food we have had for along time. 6 stars.

While you can get your potatoes and newspapers, you can also splurge on higher end condiments and food items. Great mix of tempting items. Pastry items in the hot case were fresh and delicious. The cake selection was tempting and exceeded expectations in terms of taste (Honeycomb Brownies and Rocky Road Biscoff were both so, so, so rich tasting). The staff was helpful and provided the allergen information I inquired about quickly without making it seem like chore.

A great little place for coffee, light lunch of paninis and cakes. Good outdoor seating and perfect while exploring Corsham high street.

We were visiting Whitehall Garden Centre and popped in for a hot drink and slice of cake. There was a large selection of coffees and the hot chocolate was nice and chocolatey. The cakes are all freshly made on site. Hubby enjoyed a slice of Bakewell Tart and I had the carrot cake, which had a lovely moist texture and flavour. Highly recommend. The garden centre is huge and well worth a visit too.

Best first and chips I’ve had in years, hands down. Swung by having searched for somewhere local after a job away from home. Perfect chips, amazing batter, proper portion! Can’t fault. What you expect from fish and chips but rarely seem to get these days

Absolutely dreadful! Advertised a la carte menu replaced with a 'bar' menu. Took the waiter 15 minutes to bring a menu and ask if we'd like drinks 40 minutes for food to arrive which was not hot. The pork belly my colleague had was wrapped in gooey fat not crackling, the pumpkin sauce was a teaspoon of orange 'something' and the seasonal veg was mashed potato and some peas. The chicken burger was deep fried and tasted of old fryer fat as did the 'tepid' skin in chips. Presentation of the burger was non existent and the two tiny leaves of lettuce were brown. This was fed back to the waiter when he finally returned to our table his response was he'd mention it to the Chef. The after dinner treat of sticky toffee pudding was solid and rubbery, not moist. The tiniest bit of ice cream and a token gesture at the sauce all was tepid. The dining room was cold and drafty. The decor tired and wall paper peeling off the ceiling and walls. Utterly awful experience with nobody interested in the overall shoddiness of the service and food. Really disappointing, especially as this is the closest hotel to work. A real missed opportunity for this Hotel and Restaurant.

Amazing Sunday Roast. Well worth the visit. Camembert starter with Sourdough followed by Roast Beef, massive Yorkshire Pudding, Roast Potatoes, Brocolli and Carrots with a red wine gravy. I chose Pigs in Blankets and Cauliflower Cheese as additional sides. I cannot stress enough how good the roast dinner is. Others in my group chose Roast Lamb, others chose Mixed Roast dinner, every plate was spotless when finished. The serving staff are second to none. Efficient, friendly and very attentive. The setting is gorgeous and I would go back again and again. What was remarkable was that the staff had a full restaurant, full bar and we were a party of 12 who were seated in the Conservatory and we felt well looked after with every request dealt with a smile and genuine desire to help. Bravo!

Unlike previous reviewers I found the staff helpful and patient while answering my (many, many) questions about the pastries sold. Visited on two separate occasions and had excellent bread and pastries both times. Bread rolls and bread itself were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The Scotch pie was filled with well seasoned meat. Lacock lardy was outstanding - sweet, sticky, multilayered and full of sultanas.

We booked a wake/celebration of life at The Bell and the team were so accommodating with arranging this, that at such a difficult time in our lives, this put our minds at ease that everything was catered for. We had the barn to ourselves with lovely refreshments and could personalise this further with our own playlist and decorations. The team made sure we were looked after throughout the time we were there. I would definitely recommend The Bell Inn for any occasion.
