Found this pub after a search for Sunday evening opening and vegan options. We were not disappointed. The whole family enjoyed the food. My grandchildren enjoyed the play area which kept them busy while the food was prepared. The portions are very generous and was lovely and hot. We are going back this evening taking another family member.

Food was OK, served by nice young lady and was delivered promptly, when it came to our mains sadly a sea of mushroom sauce over the stuffed chicken and served on my pet hate A COLD PLATE this causing the sauce to go cold very quickly, I did mention this and was told the chef would informed but no other response from the kitchen, sadly won't be returning when charged £10;50 for large glass of rose wine,we were planning to bring a large family gathering here but not now when there are other places doing better meals and drinking for less

Popped in when we were staying at a nearby caravan site in Lacock. Brilliant freehouse with a great choice of beers on tap which are regularly changing. Five points Railway Porter not to be missed. Sticky toffee pudding was a hit with Mrs F too. Shame we couldn't have stayed for Sunday roast which looked really good but we only called in for a drink!. If you're in the area make sure you visit. It beats the other pubs in Lacock hands down.

After receiving terrible service from The Red Lion in Lacock we left and came to eat at The Bell instead. The experience could not have been more different. We were greeted warmly, seated quickly and the service was excellent. The portions were generous and my husband declared the chicken and stuffing pie as one of the best pies he had ever had. I had the small portion of the casserole of the day which was Minted Lamb. Served with mash potato and lots of fresh vegetables it was plenty big enough. This is how all pubs should be.

Picked here to have Sunday lunch, we booked and were in "the Barn" which was fine. The biggest problem was that we were sat on the first table, and for some reason people have lost their ability to close the door so even though there was a wood burner it was cold at times. The food was alright beek and pork was the roast unfortunately both meat I don't like, I had scampi which was quite big. The staff were friendly and helpful, you might get distracted by their walkie talkies when ordering and a message comes out of nowhere. Certainly is a busy place so must be a popular pub

Six of us have been meeting up for a Christmas Lunch since the mid 1970's, and this time we booked for our Christmas Lunch at The Bell. My wife and I had eaten at the Bell before and enjoyed it, but this was a first time for the other four. We had warm welcome on arrival and were shown to our table, and drinks orders taken. Our meals had all been pre-ordered so the starters arrived within 10 minutes of the drinks. The starters were excellent and different to are offered at many other places. When the mains arrived the portions of Blade of Beef, or Turkey were really generous , but what a surprise when the vegetables arrived! There was a wide selection and a very generous amount all in a large serving bowl, and all were nicely cooked. Needless to say the Christmas pud went down a treat too. The service was friendly, and not intrusive, and overall we enjoyed our seasonal get together. We all agreed that after so many Christmas lunches over the years this one at The Bell was the best.

We have recently had a family Sunday lunch here. The table for us was based in the Barn area which is not in the pub but a rustic building in the garden area. The are is very spacious and you get a feeling of that space as the tables are well placed apart. There was 2 woodburners on to keep folks warm which worked well but there was quite a strong odour of smoke in there most of the time. It can make your eyes a little watery. There is a sliding door to enter, but as toilets, kitchen, and bar are in the pub the door is constantly opening and closing and a blast of cold air enters each time. Often the door stays open. The food was very nice and there is plenty of fresh veg offered with the Sunday lunch. You get a decent amount of meat and 3 small roast potatoes and with the veg you won't leave hungry. The only thing I would mention is all the meat slices on all the plates were the same size thickness etc showing it is a sliced meat product, not fresh joints. I am not sure how this works but it is tasty and the gravy is lovely and plentiful. However it's always nice really to see freshly sliced joint meat. The service was excellent, and the timescales spot on. Drinks were very competitively priced with local ale £4.30 a pint. Roast lunch £13.50 small£16.50 large. The desserts looked lovely and all said they tasted so. We were very happy and will probably return but would love to see chef sliced meat from joints.🙂

We visited The Bell at the weekend for our friends' Wedding reception. The pub is set in a beautiful village with a large car park. It is very Covid safe with plenty of hand sanitiser, a one-way system and a gorgeous new undercover/open air area outside with a bar. The pub is family friendly with a large garden and childrens play area. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. For any gin lovers out there, there's a good variety to choose from and a good range of non-alcoholic drinks. The food was lovely, I had the rump steak which was a good size and very tasty. My husband Kris had the fish and chips which were amazing and served with tartar sauce which was the best we'd ever tasted! The chips are a must, they were fantastic! For dessert I had Raspberry Merigues which was served in a sundae glass with ice cream on top, it was gorgeous! Kris had the White Chocolate and Raspberry Cheesecake, now he's an expert when it comes to cheesecakes and he thought it was really good. The portion sizes were good and teas and coffees were ordered afterwards. Many thanks to you all for helping to make our friends' day so special. We will definitely be visiting again when we're in the area. Thank you!

We visited this evening as part of a wedding party, we were surprised that we were unable to enter the private party that we were part of directly from the carpark, instead we had to walk a fair distance from the overflow carpark to the front of the pub and walk through the pub itself to join the rest of the party which was virtually back in the overflow carpark! The staff were very friendly but seemed either short staffed or very disorganised, it took 45 minutes to get our drinks even though we had asked several times. When food started arriving again it was very slow and disjointed, various dishes were going to tables over a 15 minute period so some people sat at their tables had no food whilst the rest of their tables food was getting cold. The food was not good, the lasagne was dry and over cooked, it looked like it had been under a hot plate keeping hot for about an hour just drying out, it was completely unseasoned (no waitress offered any seasonings and there was none on any tables and no staff to ask), there was hardly any meat in the lasagne just a heavy pile of lasagne sheets, covered in a small amount of béchamel sauce and a dried out layer of cheese, very disappointing as it was inedible, every portion that was served was exactly the same. My partner had a steak and said it was not good either. The chips were however very nice! The desserts were very disappointing, I had the white chocolate cheesecake which did not taste of white chocolate or even vanilla, just a completely plain cheesecake with 4 small raspberries and a very small amount of raspberry sauce again very poor. The dessert portions were not generous, the apple pie and cheesecake portions were tiny but the ice cream desserts seemed far more generous.First experience in this pub was sadly disappointing considering other reviews and the first time I have been out for a meal in 18 months.

We visited on a Monday lunchtime and were warmly greeted by exceptionally friendly staff. It is difficult to fault our experience of a traditional pub meal. I had blade of beef and horseradish mashed potato with vegetables. It was a good sized portion with plenty of sauce/gravy. Faultless. I love a gastro pub but this was a reminder of how wonderful that simple/unfussy British cooking can be. The venue has invested in an attractive outside wooden (heated) area which is perfect for the current restrictions on indoor dining. It was a welcome improvement on all the flappy canvas marquees that have sprung up! The toffee ice cream and meringue was pretty good too....

The price was also competitive (2 courses for £20.50, 3 courses for £25.50).The quality of the food was exceptional. Given there were 19 of us the kitchen staff did a tremendous job of catering for the varying needs and food was piping hot. The dauphinoise potatoes are something else... I had the chicken stuffed with bacon and brie. It came out very fast which was suspicious to start with. The chicken was obviously over cooked being tough and dry. The majority of the "stuffed brie" had fallen out over the plate, topped with a single rash of bacon. I would have sent it back if my table had been checked on at all to see how out food was. When my table had finished eating their food (which they weren't too keen on themselves) the waitresses cleared our table. They asked how my meal was and I said "It was overcooked and horrible" but they simply ignored my comment and carried on cleaning the table. I was expecting to at least talk to someone about my comment which I made to the waitress yet it went completely un-noticed! I paid the full price of £15.

I saw this place online and so glad we stopped by. We immediately liked the landlord who had a great sense of humour (I guess that is a necessity in his line of business). We chose from the Veggie menu both courses were nicely prepared with pride and delicious too. Would certainly recommend. A big thank you to the team who looked after us!

Disappointing visit, main upset was rudeness of mature male staff member. informed him unhappy with duck pancakes, very small with only a little duck in 3, one just pancake(Iceland frozen quality at best). He said he could get another pancake, not not ideal at the end of a course and informed us it was a popular starter with no previous issues. When our mains were collected, 2 adequate quality, blade of beef usual exceptional standard, he rudely said were the mains big enough for us. A dessert was planned but felt the whole experience needed a quick finish. No hurry to return, however the man with beard & lady I paid were very polite & friendly...

Great lunch and varied menu .Friendly efficient staff .I had a salad of smoked salmon ,crayfish and prawns served with orange , lemon, apple and strawberries which was delicious and a very generous serving. My only criticism would be that the rocket and lettuce was too plentiful. Will come here again.

Brilliant staff - polite, helpful, friendly . . . Brilliant food, piping hot roast and plenty of it, on hot plates, served reasonably quickly and with a smile. There is a marquee, sides rolled up in the garden, so you are sheltered but you can still enjoy outdoor eating, with comfy chairs if you don’t want to be inside on a nice day . . . And a decent sized car park. Perfect. And at a reasonable price. We will be back.

Joined the queue, however, when it was our turn the manager told the barman to serve someone else. The manager then served the person behind us. Could it be that as we were women were invisible. I had the small cod and chips which was a reasonable sized portion. Would have liked to have had some of the grease wiped off the plate before serving. Have not been there before not in a hurry to go back.

Driving down Bowden Hill and feeling rather peckish I suddenly remembered that The Bell had advertised on social media that they were now serving brunches. I hadn’t been in the pub for several years but thought I would give it a try. I arrived past the end of service (my fault) but was immediately made to feel very welcome. As they hadn’t started lunches the chef agreed to cook me a brunch. I only ordered the small English and was very glad I did. A steaming plate of egg, bacon, sausage, beans, fresh tomato and mushrooms along with a lovely thick slice of toast was put in front of me. All really good quality ingredients. It was the best cooked breakfast I’d had in a very long while; all cooked perfectly and tasting delicious.

Ive been twice here in the last 2 weeks. The first meal was a mixed grill. It had quite a small steak, but it was a lovely meal and the night went fine. The second visit was over lunchtime, which offers the same menu. I ordered battered fish and chips, you cant go wrong. Especially when they have fresh daily delivery of fish, apparently.

We stopped here for a light lunch. A great selection of local beers and ciders. Having poured my pint, a few minutes later the landlord, unrequested, brought me a second one as "the first one was at the end of the barrel and I wanted to make sure it was OK". We shared a sandwich; more than adequate. The cranberry source on the brie looked home-made. Staff were really helpful. A simply delightful pub, and well worth the short 1km walk from the National Trust car park in Lacock, where the pubs are starting to rest on their laurels.

I had a really sumptous mixed grill, the best I have ever tasted and the accompanying dark beer was nirvana itself. My wife had the small chicken and leek pie which she loved. However my daughter's partner had the end of a pie with too much pastry which he did not eat. My daughter did not like the pork's sauce but liked the pork.

I recently visited the Bell for the first time - my wife had previously visited on a number of occasions as she is a 'Lady what Lunches' with her friends. Having raved about it I was looking forward to our visit but after the glowing reviews I did have the feeling I would be a little disappointed. However, I can honestly say it exceeded all expectations (as high as they were).

we were lucky enough to win a voucher for a meal for 4 after completing the recent car treasure hunt, so we booked for tonight and were certainly not disappointed, we ordered a mixed grill, fish and chips, cod in cheese sauce, and a crispy seafood salad, every single thing was delightful, with a choice of veg, chips, new potatoes, all freshly cooked to perfection, we even managed to squeeze in some pudding, and a bottle of wine between us. so thank you to the Bell Inn for the prize, look out for details of the next car treasure hunt sometime next year, you could also enjoy the delights of the cuisine. lovely atmosphere, great staff and service even though it was busy with a couple of big tables booked in. we will be back very soon.

We’ve eaten here several times and enjoyed it but on our recent visit for a late Sunday lunch we were disappointed. We shared the calamari starter but five battered calamari rings that were tasteless (and possibly frozen) was not a good start – there was no lemon and when we asked for some were given a couple of slices – not wedges - which clearly should have been in a soft drink. Husband had the pie of the week – minced beef and horseradish (left-over roast beef?), frozen peas and frozen chips £13.95 – overpriced for what it was. Lasagne was ok but lacking in seasoning. The friendly landlord was missing from behind the bar and this was noticeable. Think it will be a while before we visit again.

At last. A pub that’s not trying to be something it’s not. Had a family meal here on Saturday. Very friendly staff and excellent service despite being incredibly busy. Food is classic pub grub. Plenty of choice including changing specials. We all really enjoyed our food. Good value wines too. We had not been here before because the outside is not particularly attractive as you drive into Lacock but don’t let this put you off. Well worth eating here and the many great reviews are deserved. We will definitely be back.

We made a note to call in again soon!
