The best restaurants in South Hams South West

Had an absolutely gorgeous meal here tonight. We have been craving a good curry for years since moving from brum and this deffo hit the spot. Highly recommend!!

Enjoyed a fantastic lunch on the Terrace earlier this week. The sourdough pizza was delicious with wholesome toppings. Also enjoyed a Greek salad which made the perfect pairing with the pizza! All the staff were very friendly during our visit, clearing plates promptly and attending to us throughout our visit. The reception team even advised us on the East Portlemouth ferry to Salcombe, which was great customer service especially as we were not staying at the hotel.

Brilliant place, sorry they have closed in Swanage

The pub is shut and apparently has been for several months. The local community has plans to buy it and reopen it. But this, apparently, is long term.

The owner was extremely nice!! We had Dutch cards and he was very accommodating. Paid via a random order on the site and he made us the food, would absolutely recommend!! Thanks so much!

We have had two great meals here on two consecutive nights. I had Fish Pie and my son had Mushroom Bourguignon, both of which were well presented and very tasty. Tonight we opted for the Pizzas, the base was a beautiful thin sour dough, cooked perfectly, the toppings were generous with lashings of mozzarella and were exceedingly delicious. The staff are very friendly and attentive without being obtrusive. An added bonus for me is that they sell both Devon Mist and Aspall cider on tap. Thank you.

Lovely food, staff and atmosphere

We had two lovely lunches here while staying in the area this week. The staff were welcoming, helpful and incredibly friendly on both occasions. Food was delicious and great quality. Sea food platter was definitely a hit as well as the fish goujon roll. We arrived on one of the days as the kitchen was about to close but the staff were happy to accommodate us for lunch but didn’t rush us at all. Would love to visit again next time we’re in Thurlestone.

My wife and I enjoyed a fabulous Sunday Roast this afternoon with our best friends (table for 6). Food, service and atmosphere outstanding. Melt in the mouth choice of meats, yorkie puds to die for and great veggie options. Friends have already texted, thanking us for choosing the Treehill with the comment, “a proper lovely Sunday Roast”. Already asking when can we return 👍

Staying at a holiday let in Salcombe, we had a takeaway, the food was delicious and arrived hot with a nice delivery driver. Price was really reasonable

This takeaway has not been open for several months now. New owners took over the business, renaming it and then after a few months, they seem to have disappeared. No signs on the door, there's been no indication of re-opening and the owners haven't been seen. One former member of staff has said that they have permanently closed but this is unconfirmed.

I normally like 'locals pubs', most people are fine if you're friendly. The landlord seemed to have an attitude, and it didn't come over well. He should perhaps put a sign up saying 'Only locals welcome '. It's been a long time since I encountered this and its a shame because the beer was decent. The other pub was friendly and welcoming and I'd recommend that one instead.
