What a shame this place has gone so downhill this year. So so disappointing, please avoid! Burgers cost £16 and come on a tiny play with no fries. Just a burger. No fries available as a side. Baked feta with honey was just microwave heated feta with no honey. Really tasteless. And the prices all hoiked up. Even the waiters agreed that the food was overpriced and tiny portioned. Terrible, terrible. Avoid!

Incredible location but a few members staff are disjointed and passive aggressive. Too many rules and much red tape "on the terrace" in terms of what can and can't drink, or eat. Also you have to wait at the bar in the baking sun in a queue as "we're not allowed to give you an order number or shout your order for you to come back" whilst they make your 8 drinks... Shame.

A wonderful venue especially for a celebration. The whole experience was very special and we were looked after very well. I particularly loved the fish and the cheeseboard with fabulous local Cornish and Devonian cheeses!

Walkers- beware if it suddenly rains on the terrace. Non residents not welcome inside! We stopped for a drink on the outside terrace. Great views with music playing and blankets to keep warm. BBQ smelt delicious. Queued for our drinks at the window and as expected, the prices were inflated considering the location but perfectly happy to pay it. Then the heavens open and everyone is dashing for cover with their expensive drinks so we went into the ‘bar area’ but we didn’t feel welcome after being told it’s for residents only, so decided not to spend our money on the BBQ after all.

Love this place, but so many rules now inhibit enjoyment! Get a grip… the place was dead last Sunday on a glorious day! Lacking in atmosphere, difficult staff, not allowed to do anything anywhere! Go back to your ‘old’ ways, please!? Food amazing, such a shame

Great location and views, in a perfect spot for walkers. The staff appeared incredibly happy adding to a lovely atmosphere in the resturaunts, of which there are two offering very different price categories catering for those who are looking for something very special, or those like us wanting something simpler like a burger and chips.

You know a place is going to be great to eat at when you can smell the outdoor BBQ being used by one of the chefs to griddle the aubergines for their smoky baba ghanoush! It did not disappoint. Not only is this a fabulous location for a restaurant with sweeping views of the sea, but the decor is also brilliantly appointed. Relax in one of the super comfy armchairs after eating. Lovely cocktails and a good wine list are a nice compliment to a reassuringly short but well thought out menu. There are also daily specials. It would have been easy to eat everything if only time and an expanding waistline would allow! The highlights were of course the baba ghanoush with a delicious focaccia and a nicely spiced seafood pil pil with crab, prawn, clams and mussels.

This place is in a fantastic location but the prices are absolutely extortionate and the food is average bordering on mediocre. For the prices we paid I would have liked to have been blown away with the quality and taste but I most certainly was not. It was only the views that took our breath away along with the bill. I will leave it for you to make up your own mind but would not recommend if wanting something special.

Overpriced for quality of food. Starter of octopus was somewhat over-charred to the point of burnt. Main course of lamb rump was cold on the plate with an over-reduced bitter sauce which tasted like Marmite and was inedible. Shame - when was the last time the executive chef tested this food? Other guests complained about the excess of chilli in the seafood dishes, and the ridiculous price of breakfast.

Exquisite starters including an inventive vegan heritage carrot plate with whipped tofu. Sounds odd but was made with great care and artistry. This was followed by a risotto with chopped mushrooms which might have been from a different kitchen, with rice that was soft to the point of soupy. The flavour was earthy and intense, but was wholly undermined by the texture. If you’ve ever had congee you’ll know what I mean. So strange to charge so much for such variable quality. But maybe the folk who run this place know that their rich, captive audience can’t easily go elsewhere for dinner.

Amazing views of the beach and the headlands towards Prawle Point and the new building is decent although missing in the character of the old hotel. The food was of good quality and very tasty. The Tomatoes and goat curd starter converted my partner to eat raw tomatoes for the first time in her life and my crab was tasty. Mains were also decent. My rack of lamb was really well cooked and good flavour with the fat rendered down nicely. Super tasty little sage flavoured sausage role as well. My partners veggie main was not as good but still a pleasant dish which she enjoyed overall. We often find the veggie options can struggle to hit that same standard as the more traditional meat/fish dishes. The wine was recommended by our waiter and was a tasty Argentinian Malbec, which hit the spot for a reasonable price. Deserts were good. Cheese board excellent. Chutney seemed to be more an apple sauce and less than expected. No real ‘chocolate’ option on the menu always seems a mistake IMO but the white chocolate torte was very tasty. Overall a really pleasant evening and we were well looked after by the staff. Four stars as I found it priced a little higher than the quality although the location is exceptional. I still object to paying for bread at the start of the meal. But it was a decent kitchen baked sourdough so I guess that’s why.
