The best restaurants in Beckington and Selwood Mendip South West

Tucked away in the lovely village of Beckington, Mes Amis looks appealing and welcoming, and this continues inside. The walls are lined with wine and products perfect to accompany the deli offering. We were welcomed with a warm friendly smile and an offer to explain the cakes and food available. Everything looked and sounded so tempting and delicious. A couple of sweet treats were ordered with two coffees (“nice strong black americano for me, please”). Being busy, our order arrived in good time considering Mes Amis was busy. The food was presented beautifully and was appealing, but my coffee was a pale brown in colour. The cinnamon bun did not taste fresh and we would have been surprised if it was baked that day, and my coffee was weak and lacked flavour or aroma. The staff were lovely, but there was no service check to bring any of this to their attention. The food looks amazing. The deli and cafe are beautiful too, but we were just left disappointed.

We stayed overnight at the Full Moon Inn and what a delight it was from start to finish. From being met at the front door of the pub by the friendliest horse, to the fuss the wonderful staff made of our daughter and all the personal touches in the room; homemade cookies, snuggly hot water bottles and a stocked mini fridge. Then there was the fabulous filling meal in the pub and the wholesome breakfast in the morning. A wonderful family experience that I can wholeheartedly recommend!!!

One of the best-value takeaways you can get in Warminster. A novel menu that's really different and tasty. Love the fact also that they use recyclable containers. Great value, lovely big portions, normally a bit left over from my wife's dish for my lunch the next day. Definitely worth a try if you're getting bored of your local takeaway and want to try something fresh and different.

Went for our annual xmas meal tonight and as always was spot on! Good potions with tons of veg and even still was asked if we wanted anything else! The staff are always super accommodating and very down to earth. Never had a bad meal no matter the time of day or event. Highly recommend!! Thanks all :)

This place is absolutely NOT where google maps says it is...

Walked here from our motel only to be told that there was no chef for the evening. Had there not been another hostelry in the village we would have had to walk back to the motel and drive to the nearest restaurant, which we had been to, two consecutive nights previously and fancied change.

Always great food and coffee. Cheerful and helpful staff. Great atmosphere and a great view of the green grounds.

The Fox is een erg leuk restaurant. We stonden op een camping in de omgeving en we zochten een goed restaurant. The Fox vind je niet zomaar, deze zit buiten het centrum van het stadje Frome. We hebben er erg lekker gegeten en gedronken. Echt een aanrader! Niet te groot, echt leuk. Ik denk dat hier veel locale bewoners komen. Ze zijn sinds een half jaar ook een camping begonnen. Die hadden we niet gevonden en daarom staan we ergens anders. Bediening is wel erg snel, Nederlanders zitten graag wat langer aan rafel. Echter erg lekker gegeten en gedronken, ik kan u dit restaurant van harte aanbevelen. The Fox, thank for the very nice dinner!

What a delightful pub for a Sunday carvery. We've driven past this pub regularly for about 8 years and today decided to stop on the off chance of some food. The blonde, slim, tall young lady who served us was brilliant. Very attentive and pleasant. The food was very good and it was an all round very nice pub experience. Will visit again soon.

This prawn cocktail was an absolute treat—refreshing prawns in a tangy, creamy sauce. A great start to the meal!

Quite disappointed, I've been many times, but this time I felt a bit robbed. Its been a while since we last ate from here, so we ordered a takeaway for collection @ 7:30. I did have the haddock , didn't realise how was pricey it was , but for only £1.50 more I could eat in the Talbot in mells - with mushy peas and tartar sauce ! ! - next time I'll go there if they've got space . But the price is the price and what really did me in was, the that there weren't a lot of chips in either of our boxes, just a scattering in the bottom of my wife's and a few more in mine . I guess they were running out at the end of the shift , or perhaps the previously generous portion size has been reduced as well as the price going up . Staff were very friendly of course !

Popped in for fish and chips takeaway and had a disappointing experience. I ordered two cod and chips, that set me back £29.30. The order came quite quickly and while the cod can be best described as reasonable, the chips were barely cooked, with several of them being crunchy to eat and all looking very anaemic. The cafe was not particularly busy when I arrived; no queue and only about 20% of tables with people dining in. If this is the standard produced when business is slack, I hate to think what the standard is like on a busy day. I won’t be rushing back to partake in more high cost substandard fare.

We visited Whiterow farm shop recently and were very impressed with their breakfast, great value for a full English and coffee, will definitely be returning to try the fish and chips! Also a lovely farmshop where you can buy lots of fresh produce.
