Beautiful food great venue value for money fantastic place

Such a brilliant place to go for a drink and the food is just out of this world!

Went for a late Sunday lunch the 11 of us really enjoyed the food the portions were the right size and everything was cooked well, the service was also great. Would totally recommend.

Thanks to Clive (excellent service) and Clare (Chef) , hope I got the names right. We had an excellent evening for our sister's birthday meal. The service was excellent and attentive plus the food was tasty (steak & ale pie recommended plus the Butcombe pint was great for a Northener) Couldn't get to a full dessert so two were split into four, just right! We enjoyed it a lot and hope you would too!

Decent service, decent prices, but actual quality of food quite pedestrian. Well made but just mediocre quality flavours.. Definitely not a 4.5 google star place... first miss on a google rating in a long time

An impromptu visit after driving past an A board, saying good food and smiles. And goodness me this did not disappoint. The atmosphere was amazing, the service was great and so friendly and the food was fantastic huge compliments to the chef and the pepper sauce ...Best I have ever tasted, and I can highly recommend and nothing came out of a tin. All made fresh! Unbelievable experience. Thank you for a great evening. A real gem!

What an awesome little pub! We were passing through and a sign on a random roundabout caught our eye, it read something like pub with a smile. We went around again and took the exit. Boy were we glad we did. The Cross Keys was just a few hundred yards down from the roundabout and had plenty of parking available. We parked, entered, and found ourselves in the pub area. We were asked if we wanted a table and directed towards their restaurant area. Tip ... turn left to the restaurant. The place was bright and cheery and felt homely. We were greeted and seated at table 2, menus were presented, and drinks order taken. Once the drinks arrived we chose our meals. Starter was the garlic and cheese baguette. Delicious! It was fresh warm and so gooey ... gone in mere seconds. The main meals took a little longer (we were advised in advance at ordering time that the kitchen was a bit busy). Wow was it worth the wait!! The mixed grill was so scrumptious and very reasonable priced. My wife had the moussaka, our other two guests had cod and chips, ham egg and chips. Everything presented was fresh and so tasty. We did not ask about the sources, we were too hungry for that. The highlight though was the creamy peppercorn sauce on the side. So absolutely delicious that we found ourselves ordering more for the table. Heartfelt thanks to the team, and compliments all round to the chef. We hope to visit you again whenever we find ourselves passing through or near to Frome!

Once again, it is a famous restaurant. Always busy, with a good vibe and helpful staff. The food is good too, which helps a lot.

Food was great, service was outstanding. We showed up with 15 or so people and sat outside, all ordered food at the same time and it all came out at once. Both of the bar staff were accommodating and friendly.

Came across this place after a day at Longleat looking for somewhere to eat. Really friendly and helpful staff and the food was amazing. Would highly recommend a stop here.

Visited this pub today for the first time. The choice of food was great. We could not fault what we had and it was excellent value for money. The staff were welcoming and friendly. Will certainly be going back again.

I would highly recommend this pub for food. We had a big family (4 adults, 4 children and a baby) Dicided to find a pub for grub after Longleat instead of paying extortionate money. We were not disappointed. Good old fashioned pub food. Lots of variety and massive portions. Very happy

Went for Sunday lunch, didn't have a table booked so was lucky as it was busy. Food was excellent. Staff were friendly. Price was fair. I had a vegetarian option, while my better half enjoyed a full roast dinner. Neither of us were disappointed. Would recommend, but it's popular so I'd see about booking on a Sunday.

After visiting Longleat Safari Park, we called in here for food. They managed to fit our group of four in at short notice. The service was excellent, friendly and efficient staff, lovely food at a very reasonable price. Just excellent all round, highly recommended.

Popped in for a quick Sunday lunch, not expecting too much but was very pleasantly surprised - food very good, service very efficient and very reasonably priced.

We called at 13.20 on Sunday in the hope to get a table for 8. Clive was really helpful and found us space! We arrived at 3pm and the atmosphere was great. The staff were so friendly and the food was amazing! I would highly recommend this pub. It also has a lovely beer garden and it is also dog friendly. 🐕

Booked for a meal with friends who live close by, as we have a dog we were only allowed in the bar or outside which was perfectly acceptable and as it was raining we obviously opted for the bar.. When we arrived the two tables available were rather small for the 4 of us and the dog, but we were allowed to sit on a larger table in the restaurant, which was much appreciated. After ordering our meals, they arrived extremely quickly, most impressive! The meals themselves were well presented and very tasty. All in all, an excellent experience that exceeded expectations. Very grateful to the lady behind the bar who allowed us to move to a bigger table in the actual restaurant, which was very kind of her.

Great tasting food. The very best service around, with really friendly and Good looking staff. Really good portion sizes that left us full. The Bread and Butter Pudding was delicious. Would definitely recommend this to anyone. We will definitely come again!!!!

Very low key pub, very small. Very friendly and food was great, even the 2 sausages they cooked for our dogs

The lovely atmosphere encourages us to return regularly for lunch after a walk in the Somerset or Dorset area during the morning. Good, freshly cooked food to enjoy, is the real reason. A choice of two beers, on pump, is the choice for those who still enjoy a craft beer. A good range of lagers are there to enjoy.

On our way home to Kent on Sunday 5th March we stumbled on this lovely Pub! It had such a lively & warm atmosphere, all the staff were friendly and chatty and made us most welcome. The food we ordered was delicious, I had the small roast beef dinner which was an ideal size for me with a long journey ahead, my husband had steak, and we both couldn’t fault our meals in any way - due we understand to all the hard efforts of Clive and his staff in the kitchen. Well done all! We will endeavour to check you out again either on our way or on our return from Taunton.👍

Myself, my mum and sister booked tonight for a meal, we all had different main meals and each one was absolutely lovely along with the sweets, we had a warm welcome and we weren’t rushed at all, highly recommended

The Cross Keys is a wonderful cozy bar with excellent atmosphere, homey feel, wonderful, friendly, and sociable owners. They have periodic games of bingo, which I was lucky enough to get in on, the entire bar becomes one big friendly (competitive) family. They serve food (check when the kitchen closes) and have snacks available. Tried several beers they have on tap, liked both. A selection of other drinks. I would HIGHLY recommend a visit if you're anywhere near Frome, and maybe even go out of your way a little.

We visited here as it has been closed for few months Same people here..Ham , egg, and chips for hubby..I had meatballs and spaghetti from the O.A.P menu .Very nice and just right amount for me. Even nicer ,heating was put on so nice and cosy..Prices also very reasonable..

We’ve been twice now on our stopover in Rode. The pub is lovely, the staff attentive and the food excellent. If we lived here it would be our local! Great menu and selection of beers.

Lovely garden like the idea of the little huts with tables and chairs. Brixton IPA was another success

We were staying at an Airbnb just up the road and came in for an evening meal. There were nine of us and the pub was very accommodating. We all enjoyed our meals and thought they were good value. The two vegetarians in our party were also pleased with the choice. Recommended!

Two of us sat in garden on Saturday 12 june lunch time and had fantastic food ..I had chcken and croutons salad, and my husband had a sausage sandwich ,,that came with chips and onions and salad garnish. .Must have been at least 4 sausages in the bread. Very tasty and well presented...Service was good and the prices were actually very reasonable. Also a super atmosphere. We were made to feel so welcome

I have just had a lovely meal at the Cross Keys. Their faggots with mash and veg was lovely and I just about had room for crumble and custard. All of the staff were great, very friendly and professional especially with the new COVID restrictions.

For the first time since the lockdown was eased, my wife and I have just enjoyed a fantastic steak meal that was cooked to perfection by the wonderful Lisa. Although there is currently a limited menu, we would definitely recommend the Cross Keys to everyone. All PPE and social distancing rules were adhered to, and we were made to feel very safe and comfortable, thanks to Lisa and Nelly. Cannot speak highly enough about the food and service, and will definitely be making it a more regular occurrence 10 Stars
