The Foresters Arms in Mendip

Me and my fiancé have recently moved to beckington, we decided to have a couple of drinks and a bite to eat in the foresters pub! They truly didn’t disappoint! The staff were very welcoming and the food was absolutely amazing, the portion was amazing and it was so good to have some unique meals rather than clichè grub! The owner is very involved too which was lovely to see, we will certainly be using this place as our local for sure!

The photos on the advert made this place look amazing. But the rooms are nothing like them and the shower was useless my watering can could give me more water. Staff really friendly and breakfast was lovely freshly cooked and plenty of it. But no car park. And down narrow side streets.

Great place friendly staff and a friendly woof dog 🐕....fantastic breakfast 👌 5 stars ....would highly recommend

Starters - crispy beef starters , not crispy and looked like worms tasted bland. Belly pork meat was good Venison average Burger dreadful I think was left over and re served from lunch Won’t go back Not terribly friendly staff

We came today for Sunday lunch, and it was absolutely amazing, the building its self is old and full of character, decorated lovely and very clean. The staff were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for them. We had mains and pudding along with drinks and all of it was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon. We would highly recommend a visit, and we will be going back for sure. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A great Sunday Roast at The Foresters, plenty of food on the plate, the beef was thickly sliced and nicely cooked. The roast potatoes were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. There was delicious stuffing, root mash and generous amount of gravy. The Yorkshire pudding was slightly over cooked, but still edible. The side dishes of vegetables were plentiful, tasteful and hot. We also opted for a blackcurrant Bakewell tart with custard and a biscoff cheeses cake. Both appeared to be homemade and were very delicious and nice to have good size portions, though we were all bursting afterwards. The pub is spacious, clean and tidy with plenty of seating and the staff were very attentive to everyone. Will return for an evening meals very soon.

This pub offers a warm welcome in a pleasant environment. Service was efficient and the food was excellent. There are lots of pub classics on the menu. I had an old favourite, scampi and chips. A generous helping for which was gratefully consumed on a chilly day.

Excellent Sunday roast and pudding afterwards. My husband had the roast pork and I had roast beef. The meals arrived in good time, on hot plates, loads of veg and so much meat neither of us could finish them! The puds were similarly lovely - large portion size sticky toffee pudding with custard and my salted caramel cheesecake was really tasty. It was so refreshing to find a friendly welcome, quick service and good food.

Very welcoming staff, good service and alovely atmosphere . We were a mixed ageparty of 10 and we all found the food was very good.

We just had a family meal here and was very Impressed .The food was excellent with good sized portions . My mother in law had a child's meal and it was still too big for her, but was nicely plated and was definitely worth the price. Fantastic and friendly staff were happy to help and the pub had a lovely atmosphere. My wife and myself will definitely be back in the new year.

The Foresters is a pub that is not so easy to spot but don’t miss it. Excellent atmosphere and great food well priced. So much so after first and second courses we couldn’t eat any more. Really nice to and the staff are fabulous. Wish all pubs were like this.

We were staying at the local Travelodge and found The Foresters and The Woolpack to get an evening meal. The Woolpack had no tables so ended up at The Foresters. So glad we went. Doesn’t look much from outside but inside it is modern and comfortable with lots of big oak tables. A perfect country pub. The menu has an enough choose from so not overwhelming and obviously well designed to make sure the food is well made to order. Beer battered Fish and chips excellent with a lovely dressed side salad. Homemade cheese burger was very tasty Chicken with broccoli and stilton was well made. Desserts were a good size and not over portioned. I’d say a little more pricey than would normally pay for this kind of food but it was well worth it. If I could I’d give 9/10. 9 only because it was a little slow. Service was great and very attentive. We booked the 'Foresters Arms' for a family get together, not sure why we have never been there before, living in Frome for many years. We have definitely missed out in the past !! Our Son and his family are over from Australia flying home soon. It has been 9 years since we were last all together with our local son and his family. Clive and Dee and their wonderful chef Michelle produced some absolutely amazing food for everyone. They were a chef down, as one had called in sick in the morning. Many places would have cancelled a party of 13 , but we were asked to all pre-order and it could not be faulted in any way. It was extra special as myself and our local daughter-in law have significant birthdays next month. Clive even took us to his own garden so he could take some family photos for us. Thank you again so much to everyone who made it such a memorable occasion.

Drive down from Hull to visit the area. This pub is absolutely lovely inside. I ordered a Timothy Taylor Landlord Pale Ale and my wife Carling Lager. The beer was great, had to have another. On the food side, we both went for the Steak and Ale Pie with new potatoes, veg & gravy. I couldn’t believe how big the portions were. What lovely food, total quality. The landlord came over for a quick chat and the staff were all great. This is my kinda pub. I couldn’t recommend the place enough. If we lived in Beckington, this would be my local. Just brilliant.

We stopped in Beckington and this pub had come up in a few reviews. We did not book but they managed to get us a table very quickly, the staff were very friendly and welcoming and it had a nice atmosphere. The food was very good and they were big portions, we both had Pan fried chicken with a Stilton and broccoli sauce which was bloody lovely. We were both stuffed and could only manage a pudding between which was the Biscoff cheesecake which was nice. Great food, attentive staff we would recommend.

Such a lovely pub with lovely staff too. We had a great meal here, huge helpings, good atmosphere. We were staying for a weekend in Somerset that our daughter had treated us to, and stumbled upon this pub. So glad we did, got chatting to the owners and they let us explore the rooms upstairs too. Food was great, speedy service, genuinely can’t say a bad word about it. Just what a pub should be, definitely make sure you have a meal here!

My mother & I visited this place in 2019 and we were not particularly impressed with the food at the time . We had no intention of coming back however on Saturday (22nd) i decided we would give it another go. I am so glad we did because I noticed a big improvement. When I asked if they had a new chef, the server confirmed that they did. This was clearly evident from the high standard of food. Mum had the chicken in broccoli/stilton sauce & i had the chicken burger, both of which were very tasty>. We will definitely be back again & I would highly recommend it.

We were celebrating our wedding anniversary & expected to have a lovely meal as we have had in the past. I had the salmon & broccoli quiche (a previous favourite) but why oh why was it warmed up in the Microwave? The pastry was soft & chewy & the salmon was dry. Such a disappointment. The waitress told me that the oven wasn't used to warm food up to save money!

The best pub/restaurant of our family's two-week visit to England. Was going to have the fish and chips but the owner encouraged me to be a bit more adventurous so I had the fish pie and I'm glad I did. Pies seem to be their specialty -- the steak & ale and cheese & onion pies were both also excellent. Wonderful atmosphere -- both in terms of the space itself and the service. The owner couldn't have been kinder. My wife was feeling a little spring chill and he built a fire in the wood burning stove just for her. Friendly but not overbearing. A first class experience - highly recommended!

Been here twice in February the first time for Sunday lunch and the second for an evening meal and on both occasions we were all very impressed with the quality and quantity of food. Roast dinner was definitely one of the best we’ve had. The meats cooked to perfection, plenty of fresh veg and roast potatoes perfectly crispy! Evening meal was once again delicious… so much food, all of which excellent. Lovely atmosphere and the landlord and staff are very friendly and attentive.

I hovered outside - do I need to book? - and was welcomed in by the landlord. Screens and masks all in place, a nice buzz with families and couples, and attractive to look at. The decor is urbane-rural and the Butcombe is good. It feels comfortable and does what a village pub should do. Well recommended.

We were staying in Frome and were trying to find local places that we could experience and try. We looked at reviews for this place and thought it was a must! We booked over the phone. We came in and was abruptly greeted by the manager, we told him about our booking to which he looked around and said "we will sit you here" We sat down and was thrown a piece of paper (for track and trace) with a pen and told to sign. At this point the waitress hadn't even introduced herself or no warm welcome. We did this and the waitress came back to take our drinks. Then took our order which I ordered the gammon and my partner ordered the pie. As we were waiting for the food, it was clear that most people in this place were locals. Which we were happy about as we thought it would be a great atmosphere. Instead we were just stared at A LOT which really made us feel uncomfortable. Pro's:- The decor was beautiful and well kept.- Food was absolutely beautiful, I would really recommend the gammon. Please be aware the portions are quite large but you get your moneys worth! - Very clean and covid secure-Easy access toilets-Reasonable pricing.Con's: - No onsite parking (Had to park on a side road) - Atmosphere felt tense and we felt like outsiders.- Staff weren't friendlySuch a shame that we felt so unwelcome but maybe it was an off day for the staff? Won't be coming back I'm afraid though.

We were in Beckington to meet up with family members and our accommodation recommended the Forresters. It was a very short walk so suited us well. In spite of the dreaded virus, we were made very welcome and found that everywhere was clean and the food was very good. The atmosphere was really nice and we decided to eat there twice during our three night stay.We wish them well in the coming months and hope to revisit in the future.

Very nice room and great hospitality throughout. Breakfasts were very well cooked and clean. The evening meals however were too big for us portion wise but again well cooked.

I visited the Foresters Arms on a Monday evening and it was busier than many places I’ve been to on a Friday evening! Very vibey with plenty of local people, but not clubby enough to make me feel like an outsider.I opted for Lentil Cottage Pie from a fairly standard pub food and “specials” menu. It was more than adequate and had plenty of well cooked plain veg. Would definitely return if I was back in the area.
