Fantastic! Absolutely superb food. There was 11 of us (5 children) and we all had delicious food. I'm surprised this place has any negative reviews, we couldn't fault it! Two steaks cooked to perfection, pork belly was divine, fish and chips amazing and cleared plates from all the kids. Wonderful service and atmosphere. Highly recommend and will definitely return if we visit the area again. Keep it up guys, you're doing a wonderful job!

Have been here several times and the food and service are always top notch. Fantastic buzz inside in the pub in the evening. On a sunny day the garden is a great place to sit out , kids can safely run around and stay in sight. During the summer months make sure you check the smoker outside as well as what’s on the main menu.

I had such high expectations for this Sunday roast, but it was very average. The service was not good. We were forgotten about for the first 10 minutes, with multiple tables around us getting menus / service before us, despite being seated after us 😅 I ordered red cabbage as a side, as the roast did not state it came with any. It arrived with loads of red cabbage already on the plate 😂 The gravy was very oily, and the food was just nothing special, and even a bit bland.

Lovely old pub in pretty Pilton. The fish and chips were outstanding - very light herby batter on the fish and crispy delicious chips without a hint of being greasy. The best bit was the staff though - they were all extremely warm and friendly. Well done for running such a lovely hospitable pub and being a very agreeable lunchtime stopover for us on our way home from Cornwall. We’ll visit again when we’re next in the area. 🙏

We needed to find a destination for a Sunday lunch easily accessed halfway between our Daughter and family in Keynsham and our holiday caravan site near Crewkerne We picked on The Crown and had a friendly welcome when we phoned to book and we were not disappointed when we arrived. Outside the place looked quite small with a large car park but the restaurant had been totally rebuilt and was huge. The car park soon filled. The two grandchildren had the child roast portions and the 4 adults had the beef or the belly pork. The meals were beautifully presented and all the portions more than enough for us. Lovely medium rare beef of delicious pork with a great choice of veg topped with an excellent Yorkshire pudding. This place is an absolute gem and the keen staff and quality food deserve to succeed. Really recommend to anyone.

Wonderful stay, amazing foods and homemade pork scratches. All the staff were so welcoming and friendly. The room is lush, but needs a fan, as if you have the window open to cool down the traffic noise is constant, day and night. The beer garden is definitely the best ever, fire pit and big tables. Steak was delicious as were the chips but so expensive and to be charging £3 for pepper sauce on the side meant it was a real treat and not somewhere you could go often. The fish sharing platter was also really disappointing - one fish cake between two and 4 small goujons. It didn’t really feed one person let alone share. Just a plate of sauce. Everything else was great. Best duck salad. Great Guinness. Beef Burger, Chicken wings and pork belly were sold out unfortunately.

Amazing food, great beers, friendly and helpful staff. Would be 5 stars if they hadn’t decided to charge a 10% surcharge for the staff, which is not announced anywhere on the menu and included in your bill by default. A brief stop here on holiday, suggested by my friend who knew the area and was local to Glastonbury. Pub on corner and on a hill. Can be well seen from the main road. Ample parking. Looked very inviting. A cosy bar with seating additional seating adjacent and a dining area. A varied and reasonably priced menu, especially for Glastonbury area, as hotspot for tourists. An atmospheric and chilled vibe. Staff very knowledgeable about local beers and menu. Only had a side order, but the service was excellent! Eclectic, hippy and homely decor inside, and western type cowboy themed seating overhang outside in garden. Very spacious garden. Tepee climbing area for kids, and looks like they do BBQs in summer too. Plenty of seating in garden. Relaxing music played over speaker outside. Although we had no time to visit, we were invited to see a "museum" or art upstairs above pub, but short of time. Visit next time. Extremely knowledgeable and friendly staff and very helpful to visitors. I imagine during summer season this is very busy inn, so book in advance for lunch or evening meal. Highly recommend.

Mum said let's stop in for some gluten free fish and chips which obviously I thought would be a travesty as gluten free anything is always an exercise in good will and steely mouths. The evening ended up being tricky for me as I had a tough time leaving due to so much egg on my face. The food was absolutely, hands down, the best gluten-free fayre I've had anywhere, which I know is mental but it's BLOODY WELL TRUE. Walked in and the staff were such a delight, the place was packed with friendly faces, the dining room was clean as a whistle and yes, the food totally exceptional. I joked too many times with the staff that I thought they were poisoning us with the fake GF food, so much so I alienated myself from the crew and mum told me off. Anyway, social destruction aside it was truly wonderful and I can't wait to go back in disguise.

Lack of organisation and communication contributing to very poor customer service. At the bar others arriving at the bar after us were being served before us. Shown to our table we had to ask for menus and only given 3 when there were 4 of us. We had to ask the waiter if they would take our order having waited quite some time for them to come to us.They had run out of burger of the day, pakora, and the chicken dish that 3 of us had ordered. Observing and experiencing the chaos we decided to leave. We were asked if we had paid for our drinks and were told we were being rude. This was meant to have been a special night out celebrating 2 birthdays and Christmas. I'm unable to comment on food as we didn't get that far. It is likely they missed out on a possible bill of around £150! I will not be returning nor I'm sure will the other 3 in my party.

A really popular and atmospheric little watering hole. The car park was very busy which normally indicates something is good. Walking into the beer garden I couldn't believe how quirky it was. Some great covered and heated outdoor spaces with arm chairs and photos on the wall to mimic an indoor sitting room. Then there was a massive hand carved wooden table and what I could only describe as dining thrones. Just next to this was a well surrounded by benches. There was plenty of spaces to sit outdoors. Inside was nice and cooling with a buzzing busy atmosphere but no tables available. Staff were incredibly friendly and offered suggestions on what drink to try. The food serving station outside offered very welcome shade in the heat whilst drinking my beer and contemplating an evening meal. I didn't pop in to eat but seeing some of the plates being served swayed me. This was clearly a step up from normal pub grub. I enjoyed a really nice and different ice cold lager. Then had a stunning burger, skin on fries and slaw served on a board. Delicious!!!

Really, really didn’t enjoy our meal here, so much so that in spite of it being the closest pub to home, we will not return. The food here is aggressive and overdone. Simple bruschetta ruined by the use of soggy “sundried” tomatoes and worse, a spread of such a heavy, pungent herb paste that it overpowered everything and made a dish that is hard to ruin, truly inedible. The Caesar salad was so overloaded with sardines that one could scarcely hazard a bite without a mouthful of old, foul-smelling fish. To say this kitchen is over-eager is perhaps the generous attitude. More realistically, I would call it arrogantly unskilled and not worth a second visit. Service was polite but disinterested, having an incredulous attitude that one was not fawning over the food. I hope they consider pulling back and doing more with less — simplicity and humility are the fundamentals of a great kitchen.

Two of the most disappointing dishes I have ever ordered. Packed out Saturday night, but service still poor. No WiFi, one waiter hit me with a child's chair, but didn't feel the need to apologise . Otherwise service just by the numbers. Deep fried feta exactly that, a slab of salty dairy with little garnish. Mackerel nicoise would have Escoffier turning in his grave. Take away the carrot ribbons, little gem leaves, red onion, and you're left with some smoked mackerel scrapings, skin on, 4 or 5 olives and two undressed potatoes and a nearly hard boiled egg. £17 perlease, get a grip

The owner is a great host. I've regularly enjoyed a great customer experience here. I'm usually with one of a number of close friends, sometimes we cycle, sometimes dog walking but whatever the activity it usually ends up here for, the relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, great food, the lovely space, which includes to the 'patio' area. Simple bacon and egg butties, breakfast to a generous selection of (100% home made) cakes and wide selection of teas. I'm welcome as a, cyclist and dog walker. It's a bit of a meeting point and family spot too. This has always been one of my favourite nearby cycling stops near by Frome. Much of the food is 'home made' and I've never regreted trying anything at Cafe Nouveau. You'll most likely be served by the owner yet whoever takes the order you'll have a reliable friendly service. Bon appetit

Very friendly little pub with excellent well kept real ale, only a couple of hand pumps but you don't need lots of options when the beer is good.
