Frome is quaint. It's not that big. Is quite hilly from the town. We stayed in the Corner House which was great. Again on a hill. It has lots of things around the town if you like walking....lovely cobbled hills. Poldark filmed on Gentle Street. We ate out 3 nights. It's not cheap but we had 3 brilliant meals. The George, an Indian, The Bath Arms. Great bus service to Warminster and Bath...£4 return. So Frome is a gentler break with some great places to go off to...so use it as a base

The town itself was lovely but our Airbnb accommodation at Little Conigre in the centre of town was very disappointing. For the first 2 days we were not able to stream any tv programmes and for the first 3 days there was a horrible damp smell which was only solved after we were given 2 large dehumidifiers. That aside, we were charged £1000 for a week’s stay in the converted out building to the rear of the lovely Georgian house in my photo. The Airbnb description called it luxury and it was not even comfortable, far less luxury. There was very little food prep space, a tiny table to eat at, a tiny fridge, nothing to dry clothes on, no iron, no sugar or milk when we arrived & the bed and sofa were very uncomfortable. The “private courtyard “ was neither! It was a concrete pathway leading to the back of the main house and directly overlooked by the kitchen windows of the main property! The woman who claimed to be managing the business agreed to give us a £150 rebate but when we took the matter to the Airbnb Resolution Centre, we got no help at all. In fact our review was not even published. So good reviews only then? Was this OTT price Staycation Inflation we wondered? Not only will we never stay at Little Conigre again, we will not be using Airbnb again which is a shame as we’ve had many excellent experiences with their accommodations in the Uk and abroad!

Love the place when the sun is out and the shops open. Sadly neither happened on the August Monday. But one heart warming idea - a community fridge for those who need it to keep body and soul together. Even some bunches of flowers. Frome has heart!

Every first Sunday of the month, the town of Frome,Somerset host an event called "supermarket" the whole town is transformed into a giant street market, were all the venders are local and the products they sale are made locally. They have food, antiquities, fruit and vegetable, freshly baked bread, cakes, biscuits, and treat for your four legged friends. Traffic is heavy and parking is difficult after 10:00 so make sure to arrived early.

Visited on a Sunday but nearly all the shops were open. Quite an eclectic mix. Antiques to quirky. Quite a few charity shops. Some shops on a very steep hill. Apparently there should have been a sort of market but as it was windy it was cancelled. Shame. Small town but enjoyed our stroll round.

This is a great location if your plan included Stonehenge, Bath and Castle Combe. We enjoyed 4 days here which would be to long had we just wanted to see this town. From Frome it is. 35 minute drive to Bath and 45 minutes from Castle Combe which are BOTH MUST SEE!!!

We had the choice of reasonably priced buffet or the a la carte, choosing the latter owing to our preference for exotic curries. The staff were very friendly and helpful, even making an off-menu salty lassi for me to mollify the heat of my Madras! Other members of the party were delighted with their choices and agreed it was the best curry to be had locally.

I've never been impressed with the sound quality at this venue, but last night's Afro Celt gig was a new low. The sound system totally failed to project into the hall and had no presence. It's flat and lacks any dimension. You'd need to be right in front of the stage to feel any sense of immersion. Even then, the overall quality is low. To make matters worse, the sound engineering was shocking, with fiddles, pipes, flute, whistle so far bant in the mix that they could barely be heard at times. A really unprofessional event that left me feeling like I'd been ripped off. I'd be really reluctant to see a band here again. Frome deserves better.

After months of closure, the Red Lion at Woolverton has reopened under new management. Dan the manager gave us a warm welcome and told us of his plans, as we were chatting the pub started to fill up, obviously word has started to spread of the wonderful welcome, excellent food and drinks, it’s well worth a visit
