The best restaurants in Ashwick, Chilcompton and Stratton Mendip South West

Absolutely amazing hidden gem! Have driven past this place so many times without really noticing it, and then tried it with friends and our children on the off chance of a much needed breakfast!

Sought out this hidden little cafe after reading lots of good reviews and can confirm it is definitely worth seeking out. We had the lunch menu - quiche of the day plus a very healthy mixed salad. Generous proportions and good value, we left very full - too full for the lovely cakes, but we did buy a couple to take home.

Well I stayed at the kings arms for one night I had dinner when I arrived the food was excellent and the bed was extremely comfortable had a great nights sleep and Phil cooked me a lovely breakfast had a great night in the bar Phil and jo are excellent hosts will definitely return

What a fabulous breakfast. My husband had the GG one .it was massive. I had the garden centre one. They were both excellent. Great value . Tasty , with a large mug of coffee. Very friendly staff. Even our dog received a sausage and a lot of fuss. Comfortable and roomy. And the cakes looked to die for. Unfortunately to far from home. If this way again would definitely visit again

Lovely garden area which allowed dogs. Despite a little delay the food was excellent. Ploughman's for my husband and a cream tea for me. Super staff and delicious food

We were caught in a snow storm and pulled in her in the off chance there was a place to stay. The room we got was a double en suite with TV. The staff were really friendly and helpful. And the pub served food with some vegan options. It also had a warm fire and a good selection of beers.

Really good Sunday lunch, service is leisurely but if you don’t mind taking your time, it’s well worth it and excellent value. Delicious gravy and good sized portions, we all enjoyed our various meals and some even found room for pudding!

The first time not reading reviews and I end up in a place that was dirty, full of cobwebs and smelling of damp. The place looked like it hadn't had a good clean in months. there were used cigarette butts in the tray with the cups? bowls. Used shower get probably from the previous occupants in the shower tray. And a snail crawling up the window. They advertised wifi but there was none and very difficult to get any reception. There was no restaurant and breakfast was a few boxes of cereal on a tray in the room, loose teabags, 2 yogurts in the fridge and not enough milk to last 2 of us for two days. Also a toaster but no bread.

Gemütliches Restaurant in einer ehemaligen Scheune. Rustikales Ambiente, sauber und gepflegt. Ein Familienbetrieb, es wird gemeinsam gearbeitet. Alle sind freundlich und hilfsbereit, auch die Nachfrage nach eine Ziel wurde sehr freundlich beantwortet.

After a hike across the vast country side myself and 3 friends headed to the Somerset wagon . Table booked before hand entered a bit muddy but still had a great warm welcome from all staff . Had a few drinks out side then continued inside . Our table was opposite the warm open fire witch filled the pub with warmth after a long walk . The wait wasn't long , wow all plates were piping hot which consisted between the four of us was , pork , chicken , gammon , lamb . I must point out that with the staff and the food combined it was a solid 9/10 . As a former villager myself I'm so glad that this pub is once again up there serving some of the best food around the area . The staple of chilcompton 🔥

Great staff very helpful and kind

This place is dirty and unhygienic. Staff are rude and surly. Coffee only fit for cleaning the drains. An absolute disgrace. Should be a negative score.
