Fabulous birthday celebration at The Redan. A table of 20 for roasts and the food was amazing. Service was attentive, friendly and fun. Great atmosphere with adults and children all feeling welcome. Interesting decor inside and great pub garden with areas both under cover and open. Lovely flower arrangements on all the tables.

We’d booked a meal for 6 people. Menu is a little limited, which was even more limited by no roasts 🙄. This said, the service and attentiveness of staff was incredible! Our main server was Sophie, she was fab and so were the other waiting on staff. Thank you for your service, and your care

As we were taking a hot air ballloon flight over Bath we rang The Redan Inn to say we might be arriving late and was told to try and get there before 9pm. So, we changed our plans and went straight there to checkin then double-backed to Bath, just in case. When we arrived at the Inn in the evening the outside drinking area was full of people with loud music playing. Unfortunately, our room, Room 1, was directly above this area. The noise was so bad, we had to close the 2 windows and put a fan on instead, just to hear our TV. It stopped at 11.40pm! In the morning we went to shower only to find there was no hot water! So we had to take a cold shower before breakfast! The shower gel was also empty. At breakfast i told the guy behind the bar about the shower, and another guest came down and also complained they didn't have hot water and that their room was dirty and full of cobwebs. He even had a towel with him he'd rubbed over the headboard, and it was black. We ordered a full English and a veggie breakfast with orange juice only to be told they didnt have any sausages or orange juice! How can a bed and breakfast run out of 2 essential breakfast ingredients? The guy behind the bar had a note book of customer complaints to go through with the manager when they returned and was already on page 4. So, £140 for a noisy room, a cold shower and a poor breakfast! Extremely poor service. We'd never stay there again.

Coffee was tasted like water. The staff wasn’t friendly, and talking through teeth, no eye contact. Very disappointed, bring back staff who can actually make a good quality coffee

Actually went in for a meeting,where "finger" food was provided.The choice was excellent,expecting a Roll and some crisps,and we had pizza,rolls with good ham in,chips,& salad. Very impressed with both the service and what they have done.

Visited for lunch with a business visitor. Good menu selection and the food was tasty and well cooked. There is a good selection of beers to choose from too.

Really disappointing. We’ve been to the Redan loads of times and always been so impressed with the food, this was like a completely different place. Big group of us went together for Sunday roast. Service was really friendly but orders and dishes were completely inaccurate; we received dishes we didn’t order and those that did arrive had items missing from them. We were universally disappointed with the quality of the roast dinners, the Yorkshire Puddings, stuffing and roast potatoes appeared to be supermarket bought - we were all very suspicious that the gravy was Bisto! The other veg was bland other than the red cabbage which was a pleasant surprise. The rosé wine was served warm. This really should be a one star review given the price of the place but my memories of better times there stop me going so low. It was so much better before, bring back the crowd that ran it when you did 4 in a bed!

Came for lunch to find the smallest lunch menu iv ever seen. Only a selection of sandwiches/ciabattas. The tables were sticky and dirty so when I wiped them down with wet wipes they came off black. When we went to place the food and drinks order the bar staff said she couldn’t take our drinks menu at the table but could for food as it was too much walking for her. If she had actually been busy I could understand but we were the only table in the whole place. So after going to the bar to order (as it was clearly too much trouble for her to walk) we were told the kitchen didn’t open till 12pm bearing in mind we arrived 30mins prior and she asked on arrival if it was for lunch. She should have told us that the moment we arrived as we all had small children who were hungry. We have been in the past and not found the service to be like this. Apart from that the food was nice although over priced and the basic bottle of Heinz mayonnaise was absolutely filthy. Dirty inside and outside. For the price of it I was more than disappointed overall.

After booking a room a while ago for a family celebration, we called to know if our bedroom was ready to be told that they were fully booked and had no trace of our reservation. NOT PROFESSIONAL AT ALL. AVOID!

Reasonable room. Could be cleaner. Good breakfast. Limited choice of wines. Good choice of evening meal. Not well organised to accurately record and take payments. Took several days to resolve inaccurate charges. Resolved eventually. Lovely outdoor seating.

Went here on Sunday to celebrate my mums 80th with a large group of family. The staff were so friendly and attentive despite the pub being packed. The food was delicious, particularly the veggie mains, the beef and belly pork. I would definitely recommend this place!

Rocked up for lunch unannounced, got a table no issue. Arrived running on empty and left very very full. £18 for lunch was very reasonable, kids both had pizza at £12 a go which was also very good. Food and drinks arrived quickly, service was excellent 👌 We shall return.

Top notch service and delicious food May 2024 I recently had a birthday meal in the private dining room with 10 friends and I have to say the service was top-notch! James and his team were friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience. Hands down, some of the best food I've had recently! They use the freshest ingredients and make sure each dish is done the right way. The tomato bisque starter, the cornish Turbot special and the steak was especially memorable. Kudos to the entire team

I was really disappointed with our recent trip to The Redan. I don’t want to criticise too much as I used to really like going to the Redan, and it is still a lovely clean pub. A few years ago I remember having possibly the best breakfast I have ever had there, and I even took my mum and dad for their 50th wedding anniversary. We went there a a few months ago and the food was pretty average and things weren’t that great. We went back last week and the food was less than basic. Lumpy mash, burgers cooked from frozen and gravy with a weird tangy taste. On complaining, we were told that it is not mashed by machine so we should expect lumps. It was very lumpy. The food has gone so far downhill. I wouldn’t care too much if it was just a random pub we had stopped into but I really used to like this place. Please try harder or employ people who genuinely seem to care about customer experience. Sadly I will not be returning as both food and customer service could be improved.

We've not stayed here, but I've always enjoyed visiting. We've held my daughter's 18th do here and they accommodated us so we could host a murder mystery evening for us and our friends in their separate dining room. Great service and lovely staff.

Went there fore food a couple of nights ago and I must say it was one of the best dinners I have ever had! The homemade burger was exceptional. I asked for chilli’s in my burger and when it first came out thought they had forgotten, however the chef makes his own pattys and had actually finely diced the chilli’s in to the patty itself. Definitely the best burger I have eaten! It was juicy and cooked perfectly! Cannot say a bad word against this place. The first time I had eaten there and will definitely be eating there again! It was also very reasonably priced! £70 for 3 drinks, 2starters and 2 mains! The service was also impeccable! Everyone was so lovely and had a great vibe almost them!

Beautiful, rustic clean pub with amazing professional & friendly staff. Unfortunately the food let it down. Very limited & disappointing lunchtime menu. Starters were delicious (presentation could have been a bit better) but the main courses were very disappointing, overcooked chips & very cheap burgers. The bread was amazing & in fact the best part of the meal. .We also sadly found it to be overpriced for what we had. Such a great little pub but a little more thought on the menus & quality at those prices would serve you better

We have used The Redan Inn now for both our wedding reception and our first baby shower and cannot fault them at all. Not only did they provide us with a tailor made affordable experience but made sure that everything was accounted for and taken care of. Our most recent event at the Redan was our baby shower and the food was absolutely top notch. I would recommend them time and time again and will most likely book again for our babies christening party. Thank you so much for all of your hard work and dedication to creating such a memorable event for us!

Had an incredible mother’s day lunch . Processco on an arrival which was lovely touch for us mothers . The food was cooked beautifully and presented well. There were plenty of staff who really looked after us and were all very pleasant! Considering they had a very busy restaurant/pub they were very organised and the whole visit ran smoothly. It was an excellent value !!THANK YOU to you all Xx

Absolute gem of a find. Our room was finished to a high standard, as was the rest of the pub. The staff were friendly and chatted without being invasive. Only negatives were that it was difficult to get a decent constant temperature in the shower and when we were served our food we had to ask twice for cutlery (lad was away with the fairies I think) but this didn't detract from our good experience here. Will definitely return.

We went as a croup of family and friends for a 18th birthday meal. We had gave our meal orders a week prior to the event. We were shown to our tables… there was no condiments on the tables, no glass for water etc. When the meals came out we all had them at different times I had finished my meal before my 7yr daughter even had hers, when we asked for salt sauces etc we were given one pot of salt between 6 tables…. the service was awful no one enquired if everything was ok we had to keep asking when the children’s meals would be ready as everything was very disorganised. It is quite expensive for meals so obviously we expected better. Would never go there again.

Excellent Sunday lunch for 6 adults & 5 children. Gastro pub quality roasts and food kids meals ( or children's roast). Great value each child under ten eats free for each adult main course ordered. Highly recommended, lovely staff good food reasonable.

Great place to have a Sunday roast just before walking the dog, amazing food , would recommend the pork roast the meat fell apart, it's cooked just like a home cooked roast , prices on the higher end but you won't be disappointed. 😋

I’ve yet to eat here but been for a pint three days out if four while I am working in Chilcompton for the week. Very friendly staff and food LOOKS delicious. Sofa bd burner combo is fabulous. Can’t wait to try all the menu.

Stopped here for lunch again. Have eaten here frequently in recent years and it's a charming country Inn. The interior is nicely decorated with comfy chairs, and even a sofa facing the log burner! Lunch menu is more limited than dinner but still good choices (pizza and a pint for £11.50!) and meal for 2 with drinks was £40. Staff were lovely and the regulars always say hello too! Try it. There are also lovely walks nearby, a great garden and easy parking.

Only place we could find open on a Monday night but it was great. Real fire good menu service and food. Another time worth trying out their rooms

The food was amazing, served everyone dietary needs. Chef is amazing. The service in front of house wish it was better. 20 min waiting for friends to arrive not been asked if we want drink, no circulation around, have to clear our table from empty glasses and go to bar to order. Front of house needs training and significant training, booked table for 10 in advance been seated in separate tables. The management is poor in front of house. Will come back to see if it will change.

I like this place. Nice rooms. Good hospitality and good evening meal. Location loses 1 star as there's nothing else close and you need to drive but it does make for a quiet location.

The assistant manager needs to dress appropriately. N9 need to show your breaststroke at every opportunity. Not a good luck and very unprofessional. Cover up love and act your age.

Disappointed with the food and some of the service this evening. The burger was as if it was frozen and served up, had nicer patties for a couple of quid from a kebab van. Definitely wasn’t prepared in house and fresh. No seasoning to the patty and rubbery texture was offered something else but service was slow people in the restaurant waiting a long time for puddings even though it wasn’t busy and tbh the burger really put me off trying something else just to be disappointed again. The beer was off. Just very disappointing. Had to call in and get some dinner from the local co op on the way home. On the way out was told that the burger was new to them and the chef agreed it wasn’t very nice, well surely if it’s new they should be trying it before sending it out on the menu for service and also in an establishment like this shouldn’t they be making up their own burgers not buying pre made in?

We booked to stay at the Redan Inn for one night and we're really excited as the reviews looked amazing. The pub itself is lovely and the food was delicious - rather large portions but the quality of the food was great, especially the home made bread. The reason for 3 stars is because of the mishaps when arriving. When we were shown to our room if became clear that both rooms booked had not been cleaned, with wet towels in our room and in my brother's room an unmade bed, food on the bed and on the table, a curtain pulled off the wall. Quite shocking and if became apparent all the rooms were in this state within the pub. The team did work hard to sort this out and were very apologetic, with a free round for us at the bar. However it was really not great... especially the state of my brother's room. We also had some issues with the water in our room not getting warm for over 15 minutes when we were on a tight schedule to leave in the morning, this needs to be looked into. I will say that I would return here as I know mistakes happen and clearly there had been an issue with the housekeeper. The room was lovely and large with a comfy bed and as mentioned the food was delightful. It's also the only pub that I've been to that serves a fantastic Moretti - as a city girl it's hard to find a decent pint these days and that one was unbelievably smooth and crisp!

Had a lovely meal here a few months back, so decided to return, but unfortunately the visit was disappointing. We received a nice warm welcome. Had a seat in the bar, which I wouldn't choose, but it was ok. The staff are friendly, very young, but service was sooooo slow! We ordered our starter, which was only bread and olives and it took over half an hour to come. Our mains then arrived while the empty starter plates were still on the table. Had fish and chips - fish was nice, but very greasy and chips were huge, tasteless and underdone. Dessert (when it finally came) was rhubarb crumble, which was ok, came with a lovely creme anglais. Won't be rushing to return unfortunately.

Stopped by on the off chance as we were passing on the way back to South Wales from Midsummer Norton. So glad we did. A real welcoming pub with great home cooked food. Both of us opted for the steak and chorizo pie. Wow great along with lush veg and triple cooked chips to die for. Really great venue. 👍

Recently stopped here for a drink while out for a walk and loved it, so decided to come back for food. Love the pub and it has a really lovely atmosphere. I had garlic mushrooms which were delicious, but the bread was so crunchy, still nice nice though and huge portion. Fish stew for main, which was ok, bowl of tasty tomatoes with a few chunks of fish and a piece of very crunchy bread. It was ok, wouldn't choose it again, but would definitely return and try something else. The prosecco was really nice, reasonably priced and served it nice big glasses. The best thing about the pub was the staff, they were so friendly and helpful, couldn't do enough for, really accommodating and I will definitely be returning.

A great little find. We were staying in Frome and drove out here for a pub lunch and weren’t disappointed. Nice wine and great food. I had fish and chips - such a generous portion and really excellent quality. Very helpful providing high chair for our baby and hot water to heat up his food.

I called in today for a couple of pints with my dog Lance with no intention of eating even a packet of crisps As I sat there by the warmth of the log fire a could smell the most amazing smells So after more pint’s than I normally do I ordered a take a way What an absolute joy Pulled pork and other accompaniments that were so good and tasty I’m forced to let other people know what’s available if only you try this once I’m sure you’ll have it again and again

We were passing by and it was lunchtime so we decided to give it a go. We both chose a burger thinking that you really can't go wrong. Well, the chips were overcooked to the extent they were inedible, as were the burgers. It was late, we were hungry so we aet about half of the burgers and left the rest. We did get an apology for the overcooked chips but at that point it really didn't help. We should not have paid for that meal at all. I am afraid my husband is too British to complain but we really should have done. It's a sad day when a country pub cannot provide a half decent burger!

One of the best roast dinners in a long time. Two of us had the roast beef. Delicious. Plenty to eat - didn't need to order cauliflower cheese as an extra. Other member of our group had the Fish Stew.

Visited the Redan this week and received a very warm and friendly welcome in the bar. Sat outside under a huge sail and had a great meal and drink with a colleague and clients. Service was great (thanks Lisa) and wish it was in South Wales, as Radstock is a little far, but have already recommended to friends in Bath :-) Will return for our next business lunch for sure.

Had lunch here a couple of days ago. Had fish stew which gave me stomach ache for several hours. My friend had cauliflower cheese which he had to send back to the kitchen as it was frozen in the middle. Not impressed

My daughter had her wedding reception here yesterday, I can honestly say the Redan was truly amazing. The food was sublime, the staff were brilliant and the rooms were beautifully appointed and individually furnished - very tastefully. I cannot recommend the Redan highly enough, we will be returning - wonderful experience 😊💖

The Redan is a lovely country pub. Still a genuine local with well kept beer, loads of people eating even though it was Monday evening - no surprise because the food was lovely. Our bedroom was delightful - such a comfy bed. All finished off with a wonderful breakfast. Couldn't ask for more as all the people were friendly and efficient and we found a nice walk before dinner too.
