Love this pub it has really nice atmosphere and the staff are great, fantastic service from Keiran and Erin, definitely recommend.

I must implore people to visit this fine establishment. Based in the beating heart of Somerset (Frome), the hotel boasts the most welcoming of entrances, professional and friendly bar staff and a food menu, although limited, has focused on quality rather than quantity. This modest, but luxurious hotel also boasts a boutique-esque outdoor area, PLUS!!! for the more lively sporting reveller has a fantastic sports bar (called the Granary) adjoining the hotel towards the rear. Great for the big football and rugby occasions. Wayne and Kieran are absolute stars and entertainers behind the bar and will keep you refreshed and happy throughout your stay.

Visited the George, welcomed with warmth smiles and good witt! Lovely atmosphere! Wayne and Keiran were fab! And the food is tip top!

Amazing pub, for both locals and people passing through. The manager and staff are friendly and approachable, and the food is superb. Every month there is a pub quiz, and the manager is extremely funny and charismatic. He should have his own talk show.

After a nice welcome from Wayne everything went very well. The room was clean and comfortable, the bar service and beer good and the food was very tasty and nicely presented

Sadly, really disappointed. The George needs some major TLC. There was lots of mould in my bathroom and the ceiling/walls were peeling. This was pretty concerning. The carpets look like they need a good clean, I dare not walk bare foot in the room. The bed however was clean and relatively comfy. There’s large cracks and holes in the walls throughout the property leading up to the bedrooms and in the rooms. I would not recommend bringing a dog either as all our rooms were very warm. Despite the above, all the staff were really lovely and very, very helpful. They were run off their feet at breakfast time and clearly need an extra one or two more team members to help. Thank you for looking after us at breakfast and Connor for the lovely welcome.

Very welcoming pub/hotel. Here on a cycling trip, secure garage for all our bikes and fun atmosphere in the bar. Rooms are comfortable and we were booked into a private area for our evening meal. Wayne the GM was fantastic! Thanks for a great stay😃.

Joined some friends of mine for a drink and was greeted by a welcoming gentleman , Connors i believe his name is, he recommended some nice local drinks and food options . later i was served by Keiran who was charming and delightful. and helped me with my drinks to my table. The food recommended was delicious , pork belly and scampi. Arabella served us our food and she was so polite and made sure everything was great for us , could not of asked for a better group of staff to be looked after by .

Food was outstanding!! Best pub food we have had. Service was also great, very lovely staff. The hotel is old, so rooms are quite hot even in April, and you can hear the neighbours. However it was a lovely stay.

Spontaneous meal with an old friend tonight, and we decided to eat at The George. Fantastic food, great range of wine and excellent service throughout the evening.

Wayne is a fantastic host. The decor, whilst always lovely, is a massive improvement! Food is also very tasty and well presented. I recommended the George to my parents who will be staying at the hotel on the 23rd May!

Wayne is the best bartender ever. So friendly and always up for a Laugh. The decor is beautiful too!! Very classic country pub we love it!

We received a very warm welcome and were given a room even without a reservation. Unfortunately we were too late to be able to eat something at the PUB. But we were compensated with great tips for the city. All the employees were super nice. We'd love to come back when we're in the area again.

We were delighted when the George Hotel had its makeover. Frome town centre is lucky to have this establishment which serves our favourite beer, Walworth 6X. The manager, Wayne is very welcoming and is really making a difference to the atmosphere.

We stayed here with our dog , nothing was too much trouble, staff were friendly & helpful Breakfast was very good , would stay again 👍🏼

What a fabulous place to spend time. Wayne is just an absolute star. Nothing is ever to much. Food is great, especially if you are like me and a Coeliac, the staff fill you with confidence.

I stopped here on a number of occasions when in the area. I have had their roast dinner several times snd have to say was excellent, well portioned, well cooked and great value. Excellent service from all the staff i have encountered, very polite friendly and helpful. Thoroughly recommend a visit for a meal and would also say by the number of people checking into the hotel it is a very popular place to stay.

I cannot fault the George Hotel. Staff we fantastic, food filling and reasonably priced, beers well kept, rooms clean and tidy. 100% would come back. Also had the absolute pleasure of meeting Chris the landlord who made me feel like a life long friend. Can’t wait for my next visit. Thank you!

The George hotel and restaurant is one of my favourite places to eat in Frome, I always recommend clients and friends to stay here because the rooms are fantastic, clean and comfortable, the staff are also always so helpful and welcoming. There’s a great menu, and a huge selection on the bar, as well as a beautiful new beer garden to enjoy!

I have visited The George and granary a few times. Every-time I visit i always have the best stay. The staff are exceptional, the food and accommodation is great. Highly recommend and will definitely visit again.

Myself and husband have stayed at The George Hotel Frome several times we found the rooms clean and tidy and the staff are very helpful nothing to much trouble and it's in a good location in the middle of Frome.

The Geoge hotel Frome is a lovely place to stay for short or long visits, the rooms are very clean and comfortable. The staff are excellent pleasant and helpful nothing is to much trouble. The food is also very good they cater for all menus. it My husband and I have had many a meal here all excellent. Also fun nights ie quiz nights and various other entertainments. I would recommend this hotel as a place to visit.

The mothers day experience was brilliant! The efforts of the staff didn't go un noticed, the flowers put together by Wayne really made mums day and brought a huge smile to her face! To top it off the food was excellent! Thanks to all the team at the George!

Stayed here a few times, and will continue to come back. Staff are super friendly, can’t do enough for you. Breakfast is always hot fresh and good Quality. Rooms are a good size with comfortable beds.

Wonderful hotel experience. Great price, service and location, in the heart of Frome with parking. Excellent service. Used this for an overnight stay following work social. Reasonable bar and restraunt prices, particularly for location. Wish it was further from home so that it'd be worth a weekend break!

In Frome with friends for the weekend, we booked accommodation at The George because it was centrally located and offered parking on a first-come, first-served basis, which was very useful. Parking is beneath the hotel - for larger cars it could be problematic as access is both steep and narrow. The rooms were reached via many staircases - our five rooms were all in different parts of the hotel, which was not ideal. My own bedroom was a tiny single with just room for a cupboard and chair on either side of the bed and the window was so high up on the wall, I could not have reached to open it, but the bed was quite comfortable and clean, the bathroom was modern and the water good and hot - toiletries such as shower gel and shampoo were supplied. Breakfast was fine. We had a meal at the hotel on the first night of our stay and a couple of our orders were incorrect, staff should have checked to to avoid this, particularly as more than one of the dishes we wanted were actually sold out! Please note there is no dedicated Hotel Reception area - we had to go and find a staff member at the busy bar, where all food and drinks were being ordered - it wasn't what we expected and certainly detracted from the impression we had of the hotel on arrival. When we checked out, I found that all five rooms had been charged to my card, though I had made the booking on behalf of a group of six people. I've booked a great deal of accommodation both for business events and personal use and have never had that before, so we aware of this and if booking for a number of people, ensure the hotel knows each will be settling their own account on departure. Finally, I would say that the hotel bar has many sports tv screens and was very crowded due to the Rugby matches ongoing this month, there is no lounge area where you could sit and relax when not in your room - mine was too small to sit in comfortably anyway!

I went to have dinner in the bar with a friend. I love a glass of red wine, so ordered one at the bar. I asked for a large glass of cabinet sauvignon and as I paid I couldn’t believe the price! £14!! Unfortunately, I’d already taken a sip. When I expressed my surprise the barman said “ yes! I thought you’d be shocked!” The price of all the other wines in the menu were about £8. Why didn’t he tell me how expensive that wine was, or let me try it first? It had a high tannin content, which I dislike, so I wouldn’t have chosen it ! Then I had the fish and chips, which were very nice, but only 7 chips, but a bonus that it was only £2 more explosive than the wine! #brokeandhungry

We received a lovely warm welcome and enjoyed a really super one night stay in a very comfortable room. Breakfast was delicious and served to order by very friendly, polite staff. We will be back!

The rooms are a bit dated and in need of some TLC, however for the price and location you can't go wrong. Comfy beds, great breakfast, free secure parking and right in the town centre.

Loved our stay here, right from the warm welcome Wayne gave us, to the lovely sleep we had in our very comfortable bed. Very dog friendly so our dog was made to feel welcome too. On the whole, a great hotel and pub. Definitely recommend a stay here.

We stayed one night in the George hotel and the room was very comfortable. Breakfast was lovely, lots of choice and the staff were all really friendly and helpful.

I visited the area to see the Christmas lights at longleat and decided to stay at the George due to all the great reviews. We arrived really hungry quite late but was ok as they had previously said they served food till 9pm. We asked for a table just before 8pm and was told that sorry they were fully booked, but we pointed out to them that the restaurant was completely empty. They went away and then came back to tell us they stopped serving food. All the parking spaces were taken so we had to park up the road in a public car park which was annoying and when we went back to the room we realized there was no WiFi. We were told that it will be fixed shortly but of course it never was and phone reception in that area is not great. Woke up next morning and there was no hot water so had to make do with a cold shower and the tv channels kept cutting out as the freeview reception was soo bad. Also we stayed on a Saturday night and the noise from the bar and the smoking area was terrible right up to closing time even though windows were closed. Sorry but never again. You have been warned.

Had to wait 1hr for for food and the kid burger was to well done and burnt and fish and chips were very oily!!

This was a great hotel, super for visiting longleat great breakfast all four of us enjoyed it good quality and plenty. Nice size family room. The staff were great we had to change our booking due to family ill health and they were amazing very accommodating, helpful and kind - thank you

I have stayed here a few times, in both a single and double room as I have family nearby. I stay with them a couple of nights then like my own space so book some nights there plus it's right in the centre. The rooms have always been clean, enjoyed a very fulfilling vegan breakfast and friendly staff. It is a busy pub so it can sometimes take longer to be served drinks but that's all. There are no negatives and I look forward to going back next year.

NOTE: ONLY HAD LUNCH - Did not stay. Wanted a hearty lunch before our afternoon walk, so went to The George Hotel for it. I opted for the pork and leek sausages with mash. Excellent. 5/5. The gravy had that thick viscosity you want for a bangers and mash. High quality sausages in which you could actually taste the leek park of the sausage. Creamy buttery mash. I did also enjoy the scallions/salad provided, as one could construct their own champ if one desired. Now, the onion rings were a bit of a disappointment. Large and thick and impressive as they appear, they were incredibly greasy and fat to much batter on them. To improve, give them a pat down before service and double layer the rings so that the batter to onion ratio isn’t so heavily skewed. Overall I’d give 4.3/5 Note: a staff member over shared a bit while he was serving us. Some would find that annoying or charming, depending on your world view. I’ll not comment.

This manager should not be in this role. Very unprofessional and overall a very unpleasant experience. Avoid if you don't like to be spoken to like dirt!!

Haven’t stayed but it’s a great spot for lunch, especially since the smart refurb. Service is always pleasant and efficient and prices reasonable.

Had a lovely Lunch and drinks with a friend. At 1st something wasnt right with the meal, we mentioned it and it was sorted out quickly and efficiently. Lovely cheerful Staff 👍

Very disappointing experience. £16 for chicken burger you would expect a large juicy piece of meat, this was very thin and dry. Burnt bun was overpowering and all you could taste. Staff didn’t come and check everything was ok so didn’t get a chance to give feedback. Wouldn’t recommend.

I had an brilliant couple of days at the hotel breakfast and room spot on. The staff ( Vicky ) could not do enough to make our stay perfect even the the young lady changing the towels a true asset to the hotel. Can't wait for the next visit 👍🏻👍🏻
