We went there to meet some elderly relatives that were visiting the Forest of Dean. Firstly may I say how helpful they were, given that we had two 90 year olds, the lady serving couldn’t have been more helpful, saving a table for five in the window, and when we ordered, she was so polite and helpful. The coffee was excellent much better than we expected, and the paninis and toasted sandwiches were excellent, all served with a smile, and whilst we were sat there chatting for a couple of hours, she even came round and gave us a chocolate. It’s a hidden gem in Lydney, much better than we expected, would certainly recommend dropping in.

I always enjoy a coffee and donut, thanks to Hayley, who is always helpful and smiling. I would recommend Krispy Kreme to every serious coffee drinker in the U.K.

This is is our favourite for weekday lunch, but not tried a Sunday before ,4 of us and 2 chose pink roast beef,1 went for well done beef and the last one had the steak and ale pie. It came with vegatables roasters............Well..we just could not fault it,every dish was spot on,we followed with various sweets which after the generous starters left us all fully sated, with hungry people, our table was 1.15pm,the restaurant was nearly full and buzzing with hungry people ,the service was spot-on.just to finish ,the bill, was £20.00 per 3 courses or £17.50 for 2 so with £ 2.50 between 2 or 3 courses it would be poor judgement not to opt for 3. outstanding value of fresh local ingredients from a Very talented team.

We have visited many times and so far not had a bad meal. The menu is not massive which I personally prefer and the restaurant is small so the owner/chef can concentrate on the quality. Drinks are reasonably priced and service is always attentive and personal. The chicken Tom Yum soup starter is always brilliant, full of lemongrass, lime leaves, galangal and chillies, an absolute treat. The beef massaman curry is spectacular however pre book it in advance to make sure you get one as chef only makes a certain amount per day. Everything is fresh, tasty and good value. It isn't the place to go for dessert (only cheesecake or ice cream) but main courses and starters are so well executed it doesn't really matter to me.

It was my Hen Do on the weekend and my sister and friends had organised a brunch booking at this lovely café on the Sunday. Our waitress, Emelie made the experience extra special from the moment she started serving us. She came over with a big smile and said congratulations to me, which was appreciated. Then, when I went to order the blueberry pancakes, which they had sadly just sold out of (I’m not surprised, they looked delicious!), she went above and beyond to find me something similar to eat. At first, she offered me the kid’s pancakes which consisted of one pancake, a banana, and maple syrup. This sounded delicious, so I decided to go for that along with some mushrooms on sourdough toast as I thought it might be quite little, and to be honest, I was torn between the two anyway! However, when our orders came out, Emelie not only delivered the kid’s pancakes, but between her and the chef, they had managed to make it an adult sized portion (so I was rather full after my mushrooms on toast, too, such a treat!) with two pancakes, banana, maple syrup, along with some Greek yoghurt and berry compote they had managed to find. I was taken aback by how thoughtful this gesture was and it made my Hen Do brunch all the more special. After we’d finished eating, Emelie noticed us trying to take a selfie of all of us (with varying degrees of success!) and she kindly offered to take a photograph of us all (she took loads and we got some really great shots). Everything about Emelie’s service was exceptional and the food was amazing too. I’d also really recommend the banana milkshake - yum! We would definitley return to this delightful café :)

Stayed in Alvington while seeing Tom Jones in Chepstow. Lovely little pub. Classic proper pub. Vintage decor, nice and cosy. Pool table and darts board. Staff were really nice. The little restaurant is on the other side of the building so it doesn’t feel like a gastro pub. Had food there as well a couple of times. Jackson the waiter was nice and polite. Only a young lad. Hope it doesn’t change. Need more classic pubs like this. Really nice place.

Spare ribs nothing more than a few knucles so many chucks of pineapple. Special fried rice hunt the chicken prawns pork all in all a very disappointing waste of money. That bad even the dog refused to eat it
