Despite being a regular visitor to Lydney, this was our first visit. But it definitely won't be our last. Everything was spot on! The food, service and value for money were excellent. Friendly staff were so helpful and really sweet, especially to our grandchildren. Thank you.

Heavily pregnant and full of bad mood, I was in need of a full English to make me feel better. So my husband and I came to the Bridge cafe for a breakfast. Wow is all I can say, we both had “The big one” and some black pudding to go with it, as well as a pot of tea for two! Well it’s safe to say an absolutely lovely plate of food, cooked very well, finished off with the 2 cups of tea each we got out of the pot, was very much what I needed to cheer me up! Hash browns are absolutely amazing!!! The prices are so so reasonable, change from a £20 for both our breakfasts, an extra on a breakfast and a pot of tea for two is incredible! Definitely will be going back once I’ve had the baby to refuel 😂 staff were all brilliant, helpful and very quickly served the food. Well done guys!

We just called in for a sandwich or a snack and ended up having omelette and salad and a pot of tea. Everything looked lovely and was home made, we would have bought some home made cakes, but as it was my husband's birthday that week we had cake at home.... I would thoroughly recommend this cosy cafe, very reasonably priced too.

We popped in for breakfast and had a good experience here. The menu tempted two of our party to have Jackets instead of a traditional breakfast. The food was cooked superbly and the portions were generous. It was clean and the staff were friendly. A good place to stop in.

A very popular local cafe for very interesting members of the community to get together for a natter over Breakfast. The individual mugs of tea are spot on.The food is very simple good English food. We arrived at 11.15 to be told they had run out of soup! Did everyone have soup for Breakfast? Oh well, we opted for a cheese and onion toastie. Fantastic fresh white bread toast filled with scrummy runny strong cheddar and red onion.

I often visit the Bridge Cafe when I come to Lydney to visit family. There is a great selection on the menu & everything is clearly home made & fresh. On my last visit I had a lovely cheese and mushroom omelette accompanied with fresh salad and lots of chips. It was really filling & tasted great. My partner had a all day breakfast which he said was the best he had in a long time.If you want a tasty, reasonable meal in lydney there isn’t anywhere better. Keep up the good work!

Last review I gave it a 4 now I'm giving it a 5. This is due to the amazing bacon and Brie toastie I ate. It was served with a generous side salad and crisps for the princely sum of £3.99. Fantastic value as is the other food jserved. Still friendly and popular with visitors and locals.

We went to The Bridge Café for lunch as it seemed to be the only place available in the town. We were quite sceptical as it really did look like a greasy spoon. However we were really pleasantly surprised.

On business in this town, which is a bit of step back in time, all independent traders; very unusual these days. The Bridge Café does what is says on the tin, I had a mug of tea & a bacon sandwich. Young lady was helpful and food was hot & quick. My only observation would be; the ketchup was in an unmarked bottle and tasted strongly of vinegar. I'd say keeping the costs down is important here, they do achieve that. Very reasonable prices. Newspapers provided and visited the nice & clean loo. About 7 tables.

We stopped in here whilst travelling down the Dean Forest Railway, as it's just down the road from Lydney Town station. The café is cosy, but we were lucky in getting a table the finished just as we arrived. The staff were lovely and friendly, and there was a wide range of sandwiches, toasties, jacket potatoes, and other meals on offer. All of our sandwiches were very tasty, and came with side salads. My son enjoyed his milkshake, and the cakes were really delicious - the main problem was deciding which to have (we chose three and all tried each one!). The prices are excellent too; very good value all round.

Even smaller on the inside than it looks from the outside, but nicely decorated and very comfortable. A surprisingly large menu with a good choice of meals, all of which were very reasonably priced. The service was very friendly indeed, fast and efficient, the food was hot and tasty. I had the all day breakfast and the waitress was quite happy to substitute the sausage fod an extra slice of bacon. Highly recommended.

Visiting lydney and looking for somewhere to lunch we came across the Bridge Cafe. From the out side it looked small and the sort of place that pensioners would congregate.Inside it was larger than it looked from the out side and we were welcomed with a smile. I was suprised with the variety of the menu but settled for the full English and a coffee. In about two minutes our drinks were served and a biscuit with the coffee was a nice touch. A few minutes later the food arrived.I can honestly say we were all gob smacked by the lovely cooked and large portions. I have a large appetite and I hate to leave anything but I really struggled to finish this delitefull meal. We all felt the same as the food was very good value for money and we would definetly go there again, in fact we would go out of our way to go back.Well done the Bridge Cafe.

I called in here en route to a local football match and am unfamiliar with the area. The cafe is triangular in shape and has eight mainly 4-seat table which are wooden. The interior is excellent and not loud on the eye, the carpet is grey and the walls mauve and cream, so the colours all go well together. There is a lovely old-style station clock on the wall, which enhances the cafe's oldy-worldy appearance. The menu is A4 size and has been beautifully produced and laminated and it contains a wide variety of well-priced meals. I chose a simple meal which was well cooked and served quickly. The staff are chatty and well turned out in the corporate staff out fits. The cafe is in the centre of town and comes STRONGLY recommended.

We were on our way through the forest of Dean going to Monmouth when we saw this little café & decided to have a coffee break. What a great decision this was,yes it is small but to us that was not a problem.I walk with a rollator & the 2 girls waiting on could not have been more helpful as to where I could put my walker,I'm always aware of causing a problem with the space I need but no worries here.We had 2 coffees & 2 cakes, very nice cake & delicious latte, was surprised just how reasonable their prices were.Thankyou so much girls you are great.

I have visited The Bridge Cafe several times for breakfast and have little to complain about other than the heat and the lack of space or tables. I have recently visited on a weekday and confess to being disappointed. I EVENTUALLY was able to order a baguette and a can of fizzy drink as I had been waiting for a prescription. It seemed like I was waiting whilst larger groups were served before me. The baguette arrived fairly promptly but was red hot whereas the filling was cold and contained mayo. The heat caused the mayo to split slightly which meant the bread was very greasy. It was served with crisps and salad allegedly, 3 medium sized crisps and and handful of salad was not what I expected. The strangest element was the slice of orange, cut to sit on the tim of a class that topped (and covered) the salad. Why orange? Why such a large slice? And when I went to pay, nearly £6, there is a sandwich shop NEXT DOOR and I popped in to compare prices, £3.90 for the same baguette and a drink, the choice was greater too. The cafe is nice but cramped and a bit pricey.

We found the Bridge Café by chance when we stopped at Lydney for lunch whilst taking a ride on the steam train. Accessible for a wheelchair user. So glad we found it!Friendly staff, large portions, hot food. Between us we had a burger, huge breakfast, eggs on toast (poached and scrambled), toast, chips and mushrooms on toast. the cakes looked yummy but didn't have room to try them. Visited this place twice whilst scouring the area for properties. The owner is a delightful woman and her cakes are to die for. It gets quite busy at peak times, so best to try either before or after the lunch peak unless you can get in a little early. Fairly standard menu of English cafe fare, but all well made and served at reasonable prices. If you can, sample one of the cheese scones, or a fruit scone with clotted cream and strawberries - scrumptious!

Great tour of the mine. Very interesting and informative. The guide was really good at explaining and he is clearly very passionate about what he does.. You can visit the site for free and without booking, but if you want to go on the mine tour you need to book and pay online via the website. Just beware that the café closes much earlier than advertised and also that some of the information on the website is out of date, including the café menu.
