NG Thai Food in Forest of Dean

Faultless and delicious freshly cooked Thai dishes enjoyed immensely, in an informal and unpretentious setting with an intimate and friendly atmosphere. The small restaurant with limited tables allows this great little restaurant to produce freshly made dishes to order in a timely manner under the careful smiling eye of the proud owner 'Ice'! we sat in the small covered outdoor courtyard with our 2 dogs and had a lovely meal. The chicken satay was so fresh and moist and tasty - unlike many I've experienced elsewhere that are dry and tasteless and mass produced. Don't expect 50 menu choices - expect a well chosen selection of perfectly cooked dishes prepared on the premises, to suit mild or spicy palates, meat eaters and veggie / vegan. Highly recommend.

Visited NG Thai on Tuesday 25th June for evening meal after reading the positive reviews and booking a table. We regularly enjoy Thai food and were definitely very satisfied with the offering at NG Thai. Our starters of Tempura Chicken and Vegetarian Spring Rolls were nicely presented and pipping hot. Main courses were both good and offered a very good portion size so we were not able to entertain a dessert. Service was absolutely fine with no "optional" service charge added allowing us to offer a cash tip. Overall we enjoyed a great meal and would recommend NG Thai to anyone looking for a Thai meal in Lydney.

Amazing food. Having visited Thailand several times, you have high expectations when you try any places back in the UK. This restaurant was incredible, the food was super fresh, tasty and the atmosphere was great. We will definitely be returning! Thank you. :)

First visit for family birthday meal after recommendation from regular visitors & our party of 6 certainly wasn't disappointed. Relaxed & very welcoming atmosphere. First class service & the presentation/quality of all the food was absolutely amazing! An absolute delight to the taste buds! Will definitely be re-visiting again in the very near future.

Booked an early table for myself and my daughter for my birthday. We were welcomed and seated at are table. Plenty of time given to choose drinks and food. We chose starters. I had the mixed starter and my daughter had spring rolls both were piping hot and delicious. For our mains I had the Pad Thai with chicken. As always the food was amazing. My daughter chose the green Thai curry and absolutely loved it. The atmosphere was perfect and as we were so early we had the restaurant to ourselves. There was no pressure to finish out food or constant interruptions. The food was of high quality and we cannot wait to return.

The food here was delicious and being veggie i don't always expect much from thai food. It has a smaller menu than usual and not a massive choice for us but what we had was beautifully cooked and right sized portions. I personally pefer plum sauce or satay to sweet chilli with spring rolls. It was a bit too garlicky for my taste. The Pad thai i chose was the best i had ever had, the veg not undercooked as is often the case and the noodles were silky and soft. The service was also very good, staff are lovely. The restaurant itself is a bit small and it was cold. A bit of heating on such a cold night would have helped. Being a takeaway the door is opened quite often. Decor is good and it has a good atmosphere but for me the jazz music just did not work. Unfortunately i live a bit too far away for a takeaway, but i may return in the warmer months.

Went for the first time on a Friday night and it won’t be our last. Loved everything about it, the decor, the background music, the candles on the tables, the atmosphere, the friendly staff and most importantly the food. I had the mixed starter and my husband the chicken satay (I did wish I’d had some chicken satay in my starter too), mains I had the duck curry and hubby the pad Thai, both were excellent. My curry was full of tender meat and fresh fruit and vegetables, never had grapes in a curry before but they were fab and everything was piping hot. Ice the owner came round several times for a chat and checking we were happy, you couldn’t fault his enthusiasm and passion. He persuaded us to try his homemade sugar free white chocolate cheesecake which was very light and delicious. We’ll definitely be back. Booking is advisable as it is popular and take cash if you can to save them the card fees. They do accept cards as well.

We moved to Lydney for our retirement 4 months ago. Lydney is a town that just keeps giving. The food was superb for our first meal out in the town. I had the green chicken curry with Jasmine rice and my wife had a Red curry.. starters of chicken satay & spring rolls. The quality of the whole meal was fantastic. The ambience was lovely. The staff were very attentive & the chef/owner came out and had a lovely chat with us between courses. It's great to have this on our doorstep. We'll certainly be going back.

Best Thai food I’ve ever experienced although I haven’t been to Thailand. Wonderful restaurant, superb hosts, brilliant atmosphere loved the decor and colourful ceramics.

Shamefully the pictures do not do this ‘find’ justice! Super impressed by the welcome, warm and friendly. Everything explained. Service attentive. Food itself: as I was new to this restaurant I tried a number of dishes. Tom Yum Goong - have not tasted anything like it since Thailand. Won Ton/Satay Chicken - delicious. Pad Thai - just perfect. I’m new to the area and seriously there’s no better Asian cuisine to be found between Cheltenham and Cardiff hands down. Note to NG: Please consider Deliveroo or alternative delivery service

Thanks to Ice for the best Thai takeaway I’ve EVER had! I’ve eaten in a lot of Thai restaurants and I’m telling you fellow TAs this is the most flavoursome experience of Thai cuisine you’ll ever experience! It was a mmmmm after ever morsel! Ice is a great chef who knows his spice and flavours. We had the Tom Yum Soup to start as a pallet cleanser, the vegan spring rolls, the King Prawn Pad Thai .. Chicken Red Curry andJasmine rice.. Devine!!!! Thank you so much.. you lucky people in Lydney need to experience this little gem you have on your doorstep! I’ll be back for sure… 🙏

Never been to this restaurant before and it was a splendid surprise. The staff were friendly. Surroundings were pleasant and most important, the food was delicious. This made a lovely change to experience Thai cuisine. Would definitely visit again.

I eat in a lot of Thai restaurants and this was by far the best Thai food I have eaten outside of Thailand. Super authentic, fresh and vibrant flavours and fantastic service. A real must if you're in the area and Ice the owner is super friendly and attentive. I closed my eyes as I ate the pad Thai and penang curry and was instantly transported back to the streets of Bangkok. 100% reccommend and will definitely go back given half the chance.
