It was my Hen Do on the weekend and my sister and friends had organised a brunch booking at this lovely café on the Sunday. Our waitress, Emelie made the experience extra special from the moment she started serving us. She came over with a big smile and said congratulations to me, which was appreciated. Then, when I went to order the blueberry pancakes, which they had sadly just sold out of (I’m not surprised, they looked delicious!), she went above and beyond to find me something similar to eat. At first, she offered me the kid’s pancakes which consisted of one pancake, a banana, and maple syrup. This sounded delicious, so I decided to go for that along with some mushrooms on sourdough toast as I thought it might be quite little, and to be honest, I was torn between the two anyway! However, when our orders came out, Emelie not only delivered the kid’s pancakes, but between her and the chef, they had managed to make it an adult sized portion (so I was rather full after my mushrooms on toast, too, such a treat!) with two pancakes, banana, maple syrup, along with some Greek yoghurt and berry compote they had managed to find. I was taken aback by how thoughtful this gesture was and it made my Hen Do brunch all the more special. After we’d finished eating, Emelie noticed us trying to take a selfie of all of us (with varying degrees of success!) and she kindly offered to take a photograph of us all (she took loads and we got some really great shots). Everything about Emelie’s service was exceptional and the food was amazing too. I’d also really recommend the banana milkshake - yum! We would definitley return to this delightful café :)

Firstly the staff here are lovely - really friendly and efficient. The menu is great. I had a Cuban toastie which was a delicious flavour explosion with some well cooked chips. It’s a great option for food in Lydney and I’m looking forward to my next visit.

We felt welcome from the moment we walked in. Staff were friendly and helpful. Our toasties were SO delicious and a bit different to the usual fillings on offer. Clearly a lot of thought is put into sourcing great ingredients and it shows. Our dog also got her own little plate with treats! What a find. We’ll definitely be back.

Good coffee , , tea , cake . Sadly two young members of staff were wearing disgracefully unclean aprons . This was somewhat off putting . Cannot be hygienic either surely .

Thought we’d give this cafe a try as good reviews. Unfortunately not happy with the outcome. There was about 10 minute wait for our coffee to arrive. We were warned of this by the waiter but thought it was an over estimation. It wasn’t. As we were limited to time, we had to drink up and leave. Another disappointment was the state of the waiters apron. It was quite disgusting as he was carrying food and drinks to customers. Won’t go there again. Plenty of other cafes in Lydney.

I came with my family on a Monday lunchtime they was busy but luckily found a spot for 5. I used to go to there former place of work. I was soo glad to here when they opened their own place so every time I come home from uni I have to visit. My normal go to is the avocado halloumi chilli jam and eggs on toast. However, I crave a sandwich and omg they did not disappoint the Cuban sandwich 10/10 my partner have the spicy chicken sandwich with he loved just as much. And the mocha and coffee roast is beautiful not too bitter a lovely bean.

Came for breakfast and a coffee. Both were delicious. Definitely the kind of high quality independent venue I wish was more prolific in the UK! Fantastic food and quality coffee like this should be more common, wonderful work from all involved.

Amazing food and service always, staff are super friendly and go out of there way to accommodate my order (I’m one of those people) the homemade cakes, buns and doughnuts are insane and they cater for lots of different dietary requirements. I love coming here to have a chill and get some work done. It can get super busy which speaks volumes! Amen to having this so close to home!

The food and coffee from Hips is unbeatable! The ingredients are high quality and a lot of attention to detail in the food preparation. Caters well to both vegetarians and meat eaters. Will definitely be paying another visit.

My parents and I really enjoyed our Sunday roast. The roast beef was tender and they had a decent vegetarian option too. Really good value and the pub garden was sunny and warm.

The ladies were friendly and despite a gigantic launch the previous day, they managed to provide cakes and buns for us all.
