Very friendly staff, great family events. The best coffee on the seafront highly recommended! Great selection on vegetarian friendly snacks and foods

I booked an afternoon tea for my mums birthday and the staff in the Brasserie could not do enough for us. We had a lovely view of the gardens and sea, while eating our afternoon tea. The scones were super light and the sandwiches lovely. We couldn't manage to eat all the cakes so the staff happily supplied boxes for us to take them home. My mum and I really enjoyed ourselves. Thank you

Atrocious croissant that was a good few days old, cloudy undrinkable coffee. At 10am on a beautiful day, in the school holidays, with a busy beach, they had about 6 croissants left and ten or so pasties. They would have run out within half an hour. Last time it was the same! We gave you a second chance but that's it now...we won't be back. They may have an exclusive location but don't be fooled....it's very very poor food and poor value for money.

This place is retro but not in a, good way if you ask me and is in need of some TLC. The self service cafe is very basic with typical items you expect in a greasy spoon. To be fair the food is okay and good value. The chip shop is not bad l but again it just feels like this is a bit neglected which is surprising given it's location.

First time trying this place, and I have to say it's one of the best Chinese meals I've had in a very long time. The duck chow mein was cooked to perfection! And the singapore was full of flavour! The staff were helpful and a cheerful man behind the counter. Will definitely come back.

This was a like finding an Oasis in the Desert. Wondering along Exmouth Beach with it's many restrictions of Building Works, No Entry, Boarded Steps and Rising Tide, how were we to exit? Then we spotted Fortes,(opposite the Lifeboat Station) but assumed under these restrictions would be closed, but No, a very friendly young man appeared and served us with Hot Steak and Stilton Pasties, which were delicious full of said ingredients, with equally delicious Pastry, followed by lovely Hot Coffee. I will definitely return soon(as local) and can Highly Recommend the Food and Service. Not forgetting the brilliant Sunset for a view. PERFECT.!! and THANKYOU.

Awful atmosphere and paid for overpriced lager served in a plastic glass. First time I visited was a year ago and the lager was so poor i.e. flat that I asked to have it replaced. The replacement was even worse and the young staff clearly did not know what they were doing so I left. It clearly hasn’t improved since. Not worth visiting.

I will never set foot in here again! Totally shambolic service from stroppy staff who couldn’t even apologise for their mistakes. We made our orders in small groups, one after the other. Waited a while and one order of 3 things appeared, the last one made. About 15 minutes later another order for two came out. Then we were told an item, mussels, part of the first order wasn’t available. Yet they had taken the order and we had paid for it. We ordered something different. That appeared straight away. Then we sat and waited and waited, an hour later, still no food. Asked a waiter how long? He said he’d find out. Another half an hour, asked again, got told but you all ordered separately. Finally another two orders appeared but we were still one missing. They tried to tell us we’d ordered something completely different, we said no we ordered a burger and a chicken salad. When it finally arrived, almost 2 hours after ordering, the chicken, which should have been warm, was cold, tough and flavourless. To be honest, it was disgusting. The fact of each group ordering separately should not have affected the length of time to serve.

Booked in advance for a party of 12. No advanced orders required, which was good. The system they have is you have to go to the bar and order. So, when there are 6 couples placing 6 orders. The food doesnt then come out together and some people had finished eating before others had received their food. The chicken on my salad was dry and overcooked. My wife ordered jacket potato but they had run out of them! There were chips and crayons all over the floor. The staff were reasonably pleasant and the views spectacular but those 2 plus points wouldnt be enough to tempt me back.
