Ordered 3 portions of chips and 1 portion of sausage bites, took an hour to be served and they brought out and empty ramekin with no curry sauce, chips were only warm, very poor considering the place wasn’t even busy.

Booked a table on the Deck. Fantastic sea views and our food was good. Liked the menu, something for everyone! However the toilets were awful. Closed on our level for cleaning but remained cordoned off even when cleaning was completed. So everyone using downstairs. Cubicle floors dirty No toilet paper in any ladies cubicle and at 9pm, cleaning rota had only been completed until 5pm. Downstairs was packed. I understand the urinals in the gents were …. Well won’t even go there. Sounds like a small thing, but I think if Covid has taught us anything it’s that good hygiene is sooooo important.

The wife treated us to a bit of bowling here while on holiday in Exmouth for the first time. The drinks could have been in cleaner glasses, and the table was quite sticky. The staff were very friendly, and a nice view out of the main cafe window.

We are a middle aged couple from Torbay. Decided to try The Ocean Engine Room Exmouth for lunch. Walking in lunch time, we found the place virtually empty. Not making any judgements, deciding to continue. We placed an order, and requested for the drinks and desert to be served with our main meal, bringing everything out together (SIMPLE REQUEST) This was totally ignored and we received the drinks before the food. Ordering basic fish and chips and burger and chips only. Service time was good, but we now know why. Cooked fast, the fries we dry and cheap tasting. Our oily batter fish was covered in so much batter, only to find barley any actually fish inside. The burger was cheap tasting and very basic, with a dry bun, tasting a small amount of onion only. This whole meal was tasteless, bland, dry and cheap to produce. Meals here repeat on you all day, good sign of poor ingredients. We were never asked by anyone, how the food was, even with 6 staff near bar and very limited customers. Our desert (Cheesecake) was also not served with our meal as requested, but the cheesecake tasted absolutely fine and was enjoyed. As soon as we finished our half eaten meal, we found there to be more and more families and children arriving, with small children, this was fine, but the place it was getting loud! This place and eatery reminded us of a typical Weatherspoons, but worse. The food at Exmouth Engine Room was very undesirable. Staff here were young, care free and clearly not trained in customer service or attention to detail. Meal total cost was over £35 meal worth £5 - £7 at home doing it yourself. If it was a tasty, decent, well presented meal, That had taste £35 we would have no issues. Unfortunately it was not, we were Totally robbed!! Never will we return to this place. Leaving the Engine Room, we received a quick, Thank you from staff. This was replied by us, telling them, the whole meal was poor, before leaving. Think twice before wasting your hard earnt money here. if you are use to rubbish bland food, then everything will be to your liking here. Customers who like things such as, customer service, atmosphere, value for money and more importantly taste. BE WARNED!

**Review: Ocean Eatery on Exmouth Sea Front** Ocean on Exmouth sea front offers a dining experience that's, unfortunately, quite average. While the location is undeniably fantastic, especially with the bi-fold windows open, allowing you to enjoy the sea breeze and scenic views, the food leaves much to be desired. The sausages and bacon were terribly greasy, making the meal feel heavy and less enjoyable. Overall, the food quality was highly average, which was disappointing given the promising setting. However, if you're looking for a nice spot to sit and enjoy breakfast with a great view, the ambiance might make up for the underwhelming fare.

We went for a game of bowling then decided to stay for lunch, was a slight wait for food, as was bust, but was well worth the wait, was amazing, couldn't fault it, will definitely be going back to eat...

Took my daughter for lunch and the food was really good. Nice casual atmosphere and great location. Tables could do with cleaning, prices aren't cheap. But food is consistently good and service is also good. Plenty of places to sit.

We often bring our granddaughter to Soft play and that’s fine. Decided to bring my 90 year old mum there for brunch on a lovely sunny Saturday in April. The views from the first floor are probably some of the best in Exmouth. Sadly spoilt by the filthy windows both inside and out, also the outside decking area and tables. I know the sea gulls can make a mess, but they didn’t look like they had been cleaned for a long time. Come on guys? It makes people question the hygiene in the rest of the place.

As a family of 4 we headed over for a combo of soft play and bowling. Soft play needs to be booked online during peak times - we therefore were unable to attend the 12-3 session and hung around for the 3-5.30 session. We went for a game a bowling whilst passing time and enjoyed by all - they provide separate bowling shoes. As a soft play surely it has one of the best views around?! The soft play itself was very big - 3 different areas for different ages. Good seating for adults with open view to the main play area. The smaller age areas have their own seating. It would have been rude not to have a drink - at the small cafe. Drinks hot chocolate and latte were average but the choco churro’s 😋 something else. We will consider coming again but will remember to book (during peak times!)

Enjoyed 2 games of bowling here - hadn’t booked but we were able to get a lane with no problems. You have to exchange your shoes for bowling shoes which is uncommon nowadays. Fun graphics on TV screens during the bowling games but nothing particularly unique. Great option for a rainy day by the seaside. Lots more on offer too, but we only experienced the bowling.

On Wednesday I took 2 of the ladies I support to Ocean for some bowling & lunch. On arrival the gentleman I saw was very polite and helpful, during our bowling the lighting was causing difficulties for one of them and the young gentleman tried his best to get it sorted, unfortunately, though I was more a case of the lighting where we were sat, which couldn'tbe changed. He did manage to make it a little better for them though. Then when we ordered lunch 2 of the lovely ladies went above and beyond to accommodate what the ladies wanted (as they both wanted sandwiches but with a topping that came with jacket potatoes). They were polite and the service we received was the best I've had, when taking these ladies out, which made for a pleasant lunch instead of stress trying to explain they couldn't have what they wanted. At the end of the stay I did speak with the manager about the excellent service we had and explained about the lighting in the bowling, so 🤞there will be something they can do. Would highly recommend this place 😊

Went in to have a meal as a family, it was difficult to find a clean table and the upholstered chairs were filthy, the floors were very dirty the doors as we walked in the glass was very smeared and dirty, the menus faded barely able to read and smeared with left over food. Decided to leave and try somewhere else just felt uncomfortable.

The bowling is a joke . 2 lanes broken a member of staff that could not be bothered to assist. Will be requesting a refund as not cheap.

Went to Ocean Bowling a few times now , but today was a birthday family event , staff very helpful , friendly and went the extra mile to bring out a birthday cake with sparkler candles . Family had a great time Bowling . Great atmosphere in the Venue , the neon lights gave it a great ambience , clean toilets , Afternoon /evening well spent .

Went there for a meal just before the kitchen closed for the night and regretted not getting there after it had closed as the meals were very poor. At £14.95 each, you expect better quality. No staff came over to ask how the meals were, I wonder why ? It's strange really, as we've been there when the meals have been great. A bit hit and miss, hope you eat there when it's a hit.

We came for the Halloween potion class which was great fun. The kids had a long soft play followed by a potions class which went down very well. Both kids were mesmerised by what they were making and were over the moon that it was bottled up and taken home with them. The detail to the labels of the potions names made them giggle a lot and they loved their certificates. It was certainly one of their favourite half term days. It was run really well and great value for money. Even though it was half term and busy, it didn’t feel crazy in the soft play. We had headphones on standby incase it was too loud, but they weren’t needed. We did book onto an extra soft play session after as the kids didn’t want to leave as they were having such a great time. We have been coming to Ocean soft play for a while now, it’s alway very clean and well maintained. It’s our favourite soft play in Devon. We have done a fair few of the family events at Ocean and love the Family Fridays as they are great value and a lot of silly fun. They are always well run and well put together and they even provide a bonus of a lie in on a Saturday morning!

I was part of a team putting on a corporate event here. To be honest, I wasn't expecting to be blown away as large catered events are sometimes a bit beige. However, I have to say that the team at Ocean excelled themselves. The food was great, served professionally and efficiently and portion sizes were good. The prawn cocktail I had was generously sized and tasty, and the following courses of chicken and gluten free chocolate cake didn't disappoint either. Others at my table also commented on how good the food was. The room was beautifully laid out and felt welcoming which can be a challenge with a big space. It was obvious that the whole team at Ocean took great pains to deliver a great night and I spoke to many at the event who said how good it was. Well done to the team at Ocean. You did us proud!

Worked with Ocean to deliver a business community event and feel that Jimi, Sandra, chef Ross and team did a fantastic job and really cared about the event. They were supportive in the preparation and proactive with dealing with inevitable teething issues on the night, for an evenr with over 160 guests. The food was lovely and great value; the venue was brilliant, with beautiful sea views. We use the venue for our student events too and thoroughly recommend.

As a local, we often come down to Ocean after going for walks with the dog. Yet today's experience was not a good one to say the least We had ordered cheesy garlic bread and had mentioned this twice to our server as we ordered at the bar. However when receiving our food it had no cheese on it. When this was highlighted to staff we were immediately shut down and told it was our fault and we ordered incorrectly. There was no attempt at resolving this matter only that we either pay the extra (which we thought had already been done) or go without. The attitude of the staff was not appreciated as instead of a polite apology all we got was rude remarks. Secondly we had ordered the waffle and when ordering had asked if it could be brought out after we had finished the main This did not happen and we got no apology once again! Overall a pretty bad experience on my behalf especially with the price of the meal. Next time if I want inadequate food and service, then I'll find a place which prices match that service. There are many other incredible and nice establishments in the area which I will go to instead!

I arranged a corporate party which was held at Ocean in the Ocean suite in early October 2023, from start to finish the whole process went perfectly. Any request I made was never too much issue and I found the events staff friendly and very accommodating to my ever changing plans. On the night of the event everything went smoothly, the food was delicious we had 3 different starters and 3 main courses and I heard nothing but compliments about all of them. Service was fantastic and all the small details were on point. This is the second event I have planned at Ocean and they have always impressed me, I wouldn't hesitate to return. I'd like to give a big shout out to Jimi-Dean and Sandra in the events team, you guys are just wonderful at what you do. Well done team Ocean

I just wanted to send a message to say that when I visited with my two Sons & my Daughter on Friday 1st September, we had the best time! We have been coming to exmouth for years but have never been to the softplay before. My son is autistic & finds soft plays quite overwhelming & I also find it hard to keep track of him! The layout is amazing, I could see him & what he was up too! I loved the fact that it had dedicated areas for the small children, my 3 year old loved that. The softplay was lovely & clean, everything was taken care of & the cafe had lots on offer at good prices. It’s rare to find a softplay that has it all. Thank you to the friendly staff as well that have a judgement free attitude! It makes such a difference! We will definitely be back!

We decided to spurn other cafes and walk out to Ocean for breakfast. Just had traditional breakfast and Bacon bap. To say it was tired was understatement. Bacon bap came with 2 slices of very overcooked bacon, the type you break in half. Breakfast came with same overcooked bacon, sausage, hard egg and well done toast. Beans had skin over them. Obviously this must have been waiting to be served or just unappetisingly cooked. We should have sent it back but as usual eat and vowed not to eat there again. Very disappointed.

I had breakfast here with some family before I left to come home from my short break. There was plenty of space in there, with lots of tables. It is dog friendly. The service was good, the food was fresh, hot and tasty. We did not visit the bowling in here.
