We decided to go darts farm as we thought the fish and chips would be of high quality as darts farm source good quality products but no this was not the case as the chips were dry and the sausages were burnt but not only that it was dead and still had along wait so we definitely won’t be going again.we will stick to proper fish and chips on Exeter road in exmouth. People don’t waste your money.

For the price of £13.50 for take away fish and chips I was expecting something amazing but unfortunately that wasn't the case. The fish was nice, but the chips tasted like frozen ones from Aldi and weren't a big portion, and annoyingly there isn't even an option to order large chips. A disappointing experience.

Chips not very nice. Much better at Greendales, ended up throwing them away. Hake watery!

One of the best fish and chips! Cod was flakey and juicy, chips were great as well. Tartar sauce is well made. Scallops were sweet, flavourful, could do without the bacon bits. Highly recommend!

Food is amazing. We get a takeaway from here every couple of weeks and the food is awesome. The prices, on the other hand, are way too high. £15 for fish and £2 extra for chips with sauces charged as extra! For a family of 5, that is an expensive treat. Last year it was £9 -£10 pound for fish! We will have to look else due to the huge price increases. A real pity. Would be 5 star but for the prices.

Really disappointing purchase here. Was recommended by the hairdressers round the corner and decided to treat myself. The portion of chips were so small next to my fish and were probably the driest chips I've ever had at a chippy. I paid £15 for a fish supper and I will certainly not be giving them my money again. Also very under seasoned.

I had the chips which seemed like they were not proper fish and chip shop chips. Underwhelming and pricey.

Such a disappointment, nowhere near as good as Greendale and cost as much if not more, portions small, chips obviously out of a bag, sausages cheap, even the children didn't like them, chips not crispy, we really expected the same quality you would get in the cafe and restaurant in Darts. Won't ever bother again, fresh home made chips and fresh fish from Greendale for us every time.

Honestly, no word of a lie, this is unequivocally THE BEST fish and chips in Exeter! Maybe even the South West… We had the grilled haddock, it was perfectly cooked. The chips were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, we opted for extra chips… mushy peas were a fantastic accompaniment and if you thought that wasn’t enough; the tartar sauce was a dream! Thanks The Fish Shed, I will see you again.

Wonderful place. Great food every time. The Poki bowl is such a treat. Have used here twice a week all through these weird times. Not a single bad portion. Highly recomended. Such welcoming staff. Such better quality than other local fish restaurants.

Worst cold and chips ever tasted dry chips and fish served in burnt batter. Avoid wasting your money here.

Changed review. Liked this place from time to time but recently really bad quality. Chips really dry and over cooked. Asked for lightly battered haddock and was thick batter and very greasy inside. Fish didn't taste that fresh either. For 9 quid I can't accept that. Last two visits like this with same guy behind bar.

I normally love the chips but today when I was treating the whole family, they weren't the usual thick chips, they were KFC wannabes absolutely drenched in salt. I hope this isn't the new standard

Visited on a recommendation at very near the end of the day. We were NOT disappointed!! Meals for seven of us were served with huge smiles by Dave and Ondine and the fish cakes and chips were absolutely divine.. (that’s pretty much an understatement). Amazingly friendly people, beautifully cooked food and we can’t cant recommend Fish Shed enough!! Thank you Dave and Ondine 💕 🎣 xx

We were a bit dubious of visiting here after the bad reviews but thought we’d try it anyway. The owner was honest about the frozen chips and they were pretty good. The grilled fish was lovely. Just remember it’s not like a standard chippy. Give it a go.

We came from Oxfordshire to purchase beautiful boat from ash Marine next door and spent all day around Exmouth and it was amazing.we were hungry so ash Marine recommendations was brilliant. We had fish and chips - which Was extra large cod plus I wanted monkfish grilled. When you are down there or near by you Must visit and try. The fish was amazing soft and fresh 6 stars

The chips honestly taste like frozen chips, they are very dry and not like classic chip shop chips at all. The wait time takes forever.

A regular favourite! Can only really comment on the cod and chips but haven’t ever been disappointed. Fish batter always crispy and delicious; chips always well prepared. Never soggy or greasy or tasting of old oil. Good portion sizes. Friendly and cheerful service too! Altogether a winner:)

Great service for 19 gamblers. Ordered half an hour in advance to save queuing on their recommendation. As the day was fine sitting in the open was part of the pleasure. Paying at the you shop till for the whole group saved time.

Used to love the chips from here but today the quality was awful. £6 for frozen chips! I didn't mind paying that when they were the nice ones but feel a bit robbed today. Whilst waiting for the chips the guy put his hand down his trousers twice, scratched his head and prepared food and condiments without washing his hands. Needless to say we won't be buying from you again.

SO TASTY! - We had a cod & chips, as well as a Thai Fishcakes & Salad. It was very nice! The quality surpassed our local and the chips were very nice. It felt healthier and tasted even better. Thank you.

Ordered Scallops, and sea bass with chips. Food was good, cooked beautifully and well seasoned. Staff were friendly. The qualm being the price, its admitedly bordering on pricey.

Most disappointed. After a year's absence on our part, things seem to have gone downhill. The yard where the outdoor tables were set, looked rundown and dirty. There were cigarette butts and general litter, it gave an uncared-for impression. Scallops portion was small for the money. Ridiculous to be charged for tartar sauce at a non-cheap restaurant. This restaurant doesn't sell drinks, so when ordering our seafood, we were told we had to go back indoors to buy the drinks separately. This place could do with a cleanup. A local lady seated at the next table to enjoy a takeaway drink told us she had stopped ordering fish there because of the high prices. We shall not be returning.

"Fresh produce , not at the chip shop" Terrible chips, serving pre cooked ,bought in chips, straight out of the plastic bag and into the fryer. Terrible considering darts farm is meant to sell fresh produce not pre cooked rubbish. Staff did apologise and refunded the cost but surely commercially produced chips supplied in catering sized plastic bags isn't the way to go. If you run out of chips take them off the menu don't start selling bought in rubbish , At the end of the day if you cant be bothered to peel some potatoes where else are the standards dropping within the business You may aswell go to McDonald's

Fish & chip perfection. I find it hard to believe this place has a single bad review. Always exceptional. I grew up above my family fish restaurant which closed in 1994. 20 years later I finally found fish and chips as good. If you equate quality to price and quantity you might prefer to eat bad fish and chips elsewhere. If you have functioning taste buds and can comprehend the difference in price between poorly cooked frozen fish and perfectly cooked fresh fish, then you need to visit the fish shack. Bad reviews likely come from McDonald's fans who didn't want to use Burger King at the Exeter services.

Disappointing. Ordered mussels and chips. The mussels were nice and fresh but very gritty. The chips had an odd chemically taste. Overall I wouldn't recommend.

Excellent service by the owner. Knows his stuff. I suffer with celiac disease and so can't eat wheat/batter. Fresh grilled hake & chips. Probably the best fish & chips I've ever had.
