Went to have a couple if drinks to celebrate a freinds funeral and had 2 beers and was asked to leave by the manager as I was informed I had to much to drink in a pub that seels craft beer etc I challenged the manager who had no reason for refusing as she has had no complaints regards me or the people I was drinking with who were also distressed and distgusted by the managers attitude who was not willing to listen to our feeling regards being persecuted I said it was distuging behaviour for her talk to me the way she did it was very aggressive and unnecessary this pub is very short staffed and the attitude of the staff is also not good

Quick service and clear away. Staff were pleasant and friendly and there was a pleasant atmosphere in the place

Spent a couple of lovely evenings in here last week. Standard 'Spoons fare, but the service and staff were great. Nice, cosy pub with a nice beer garden for warmer weather. Always a go-to when in Honiton!

Thursday....Curry 🍛 night and a discount drink. Nice atmosphere with a logfire on a winters day 👍. Helpful staff. Clean toilets. One of the better wetherspoons I have visited. Excellent value. Pleasant experience ☺️.

Enjoyed our visit and the boss took our order.He had been seconded from Yeovil and was very pleasant. Food good,and the sheer pleasure of not eating with music blaring or dogs yapping was sheer bliss.

Have used this many times for quick reasonable lunch whilst shopping in Honiton. We went in last Tuesday and our relaxing lunch was ruined by three mothers with under school age children allowing them to scream, shout, run around, climb over bench onto someone else’s table. It should be stipulated that well behaved children are welcome - I am a mother and grandmother but would not allow this to happen. In the case of uncontrolled children running amok - surely the manager should have stepped in and given the mothers a warning that such behaviour was not acceptable - if they could not conform to reasonable standards then they should be told to leave. Will think twice about using this venue again. Although the two Japanese light bites we ordered were most enjoyable.

We have been a regular to that place since 2014. It had its moments service wise when it was not up to speed but not too often. Usually the food is great and service friendly enough. The two last times we have been here, it has been not good. The food did take 40 minutes to come in and it was not that busy. The chips were cold like. I then ordered some curry sauce and it did take another 20 minutes to come: and it was cold. That is not good. Then, another one on the 5Th of January 2025 (see e mail receipt below which I paid on my Capital One card), we ordered drink and it did take...37 minutes to come to our table. The restaurant at that time was only a third full. I did mention it to someone but they shrugged their shoulder and said sorry. I reasonably contacted their customer service three times and the final answer: "...Thank you for taking the time to contact us again. I understand that you feel a good will gesture would be in order and would advise that each case raised to the Customer Service department is dealt with on an individual basis. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer a good will gesture on this occasion. I apologise for any disappointment caused. Please be assured that your comments have been passed to the area manager, who will take the appropriate action. We are sorry we cannot be of any further assistance and consider the matter closed..." Wow...they consider the matter closed? I have studied Law for four years, previously been in the Hospitality Industry and Private Service for more than fifteen years in total in four countries and never have been ignored that way. Especially as I was not rude, unpolite or else. It is my Human Rights right (under the HRA 1998 Everyone has the right to freedom of expression) and that is the start and they cannot squash my opinion or a real fact of the moment. So, beware: the JD Wetherspoon Customer Service that way is not correct. Hence why if you may eat somewhere else, you have got the right to choose so. Quel dommage.

It's a spoons, however great staff and food was ok. Definitely got what we paid for though..under a tenner for a curry and a beer

As an ex-pat, this was only our second visit to a Wetherspoon. This one in Honiton was like our previous experience. Food was acceptable, service was VERY quick, and value for money was excellent. Would eat here again!

Always busy at peak times but there are plenty of tables, plus outdoor seating in warmer weather.

Quality Spoons, friendly staff, usual Spoons quality and value.

We ordered three glasses of milk to our table, and waited over an hour for them to show up. They didn’t in the end and we were incredibly saddening by this. We enjoyed our other drinks, but next time we would appreciate it if our milk showed up.

This is probably the best wetherspoons in the country, more like your local pub ,cosy friendly and good atmosphere. Staff were fantastic. Would recommend to anyone 5 star.

One of the cleaner and nicer wetherspoons we have been to. Unlike our 'local spoons', the tables and floor were clean and not at all sticky! The food was standard, but portions seemed to be a little bit more generous than at the ones we normally go to (it was a pretty quiet time on a Sunday that we arrived so we may just have been lucky). The food was decent, the staff polite and the place was clean (always an added bonus!) .. parking is the only issue, so if you can bag a spot on street it saves having to pay in the nearby car park.

Great value for money, staff were very attentive and friendly

One of the female managers is very hostile and has no manners. Walks around like a customer and dressed like one too. Doesnt bother with a smart appearance and attitude is no better. Not a great way to represent the company. All other staff look relatively smart and professional and always polite. Food- you get what you pay for and reliable! The layout is a bit crammed also but Wetherspoons have never been one for quality over quantity.

Some of the wetherspoons are getting a bit tired. This is one of the better one's . I reviewed this about a year ago. All of a sudden loads of chairs and tables have arrived in the top part of the pub they're trying to cram more covers in. So if you want a relaxing pint or meal you feel like you're having it with other people as well. Its like school meals it's like McDonald's with carpets.

Curry here today here was not good, popupdomms were under cooked, Naan bread like a wet kipper, curry rice cold, and beef stringy. The plate of chips was very good though..

Lovely Outdoor area for all to enjoy very clean and tidy outside. Inside upon arrival at around 2.30pm many tables hadn't been cleared. We then sat at a table and had to clear it ourselves after several staff walked by without taking the dirties with them. We ordered food, Hubby ordered a rear steak which unfortunately was not Rare. Daughter had jacket potato with a note requesting beans to be on the side. This came out with the beans on the potato so we had to wait for the meal to be replaced as requested. They did this with no problem! I then took my daughter for the toilet and came back to the table to find it had been cleared of all food without our meals being finished. The gentleman behind the bar was very apologetic and offered to replace the meal. Staff were friendly and welcoming and polite. Very good service minus the couple of mishaps was a lovely place.

Really up together looked after Wetherspoon. We have been to many ‘Spoons in different towns. This is one of the best.

We had family down to visit, so we decided to take them to our local pub for dinner.. the pub was fairly busy and the staff were all brilliant! Anything we needed and they were only happy to help. Food was fantastic 😋 staff were great!! 5🌟 we will most definitely be going back.

Just had a full English breakfast with an egg muffin with coffees and orange juice for 2 for less than £15. Quick service, nice athmosphere good food. All we needed.

Wasn’t bad, had the panini maybe would have tested better if it was buttered & I also ordered just cheese as an option so maybe because I asked for no ham or tomato they should of affected Exeter cheese

Really disappointed with Wetherspoons today Was asked to leave because I was accompanied by my Emotional Support Dog; which in line with their policy was wearing a working harness and lead. I was asked for a certificate (not mandatory in their policy) which I did not have as my dog was privately trained Was told that an ESD was not a working dog! I explained that I have the chronic hidden disability Fibromyalgia and am in constant pain which the company of my ESD helps to alleviate! People would probably not even notice him as he sits under the table and as a poodle is also anti alergentic Sorry that I didn't have my hidden disability lanyard on me to show everyone in the restaurant Wetherspoons seems happy to support other customers with medical conditions such as alcoholism, but others are dismissed without even the curtesy of an apology Shame on you The Star Inn Honiton

Arrived early into Honiton and felt peckish for some breakfast. I spotted the Star Inn which opens at 8am and found myself a cosy table by a window and ordered the full English. Ok, it’s a Spooners I thought to myself and didn’t expect the world. But I was very pleasantly surprised. The young lady that took my order at 9am and served me was very welcoming and couldn’t be more helpful. The breakfast arrived promptly after helping myself to the endless designer coffee from the machine included. The breakfast was hot, fresh and very enjoyable. Even the toast with proper butter was very lovely. All in a clean, relaxed, comfortable large dining area and most importantly, super value for money. Keep up the good work!

Good value, and great for families looking for an easy-going dinner

The staff were all very attentive. We were 16 in all and all the dishes were brought out together. It was curry club night and the vindaloo was just as it should be very hot 🥵 🙂

We regularly use this ‘spooners’ pub which offers great value for money food and drinks in a pleasant environment. I really wanted to congratulate and praise the Pub Manager (sorry I didn’t get your name, but did compliment you in person!) for his excellent customer service for the way he dealt with a problem one of our party had with his meal this evening (7th August). He was very professional and courteous, very well done!

The breakfast was cold when I came here. The bacon was so charred I could taste the crumbs from the cooker. The eggs had a full on river with them don’t buy

We had an excellent breakfast at The Star Inn and thought it was tasty, well presented and very reasonable value for money. The staff were pleasant and helpful. It was good to see that in addition to an impressive indoor environment there was a large number of tables outside too. As we were travelling, it was particularly convenient to have a public car park directly next door. We will call in again when next in the area.

We had a lovely cooked English breakfast here. The food was great, came quickly after being ordered and the general feel of the pub was lovely.

Good old wetherspoon's does exactly what it does! No pretense, no delusions just a cracking brekky, cheap pints and unlimited coffee, perfect!

Nice atmosphere and bartender, didn’t have food but looked nice

Large ground floor pub, straight off the street- a 5' walk from the very centre of Honiton. Can be quite quiet but at supper-time it's a great place to be for atmosphere. Staff are super-friendly and helpful. We went with a group of 9 and were able to secure tables without booking. A big bar area with all the drinks and spirits you can imagine.

Nice place but drinks where tipped away when went outside and was refused new ones and refused a refund on the 22nd around 12:30 at night we lost 3 pints od budweiser and a single dissorano and coke. Not very pleased

Lovely inviting pub, we stopped off on our way to Torquay. Enjoyed it that much, we also stopped on our return journey back. Food was very nice and didn't have to wait long at all.

One of the worse! Yes WORSE Wetherspoons I’ve ever been to! All staff have got a CBA (can’t be asked) attitude, no manners what so ever, none of them are even happy about their job! The burger tasted off and the chips was chewy! Never bothered mentioning it to the staff didn’t want to feel more depressed with this place than I was! Would NOT recommend to anyone!

I agreed to meet someone there because she worked there but unfortunately she hurt herself at work and was off work until it got better ,so invited her for a coffee and she got told to leave has she was off work ,I think that is so unfair and not kind I won't be going back there again has its not a very nice place and they don't listen to what you order for food either .

Not the best wetherspoons But good value.

You know what you're getting with Wetherspoons, which is why we keep going back. Amazing breakfasts, including black pudding, and a free drink for less than £6, and the opportunity to get a pint if you so wish. What more could you wish for? Well, actually, I don't want alcohol at 10am, so perhaps there's a non alcoholic beer instead? There's not one, but nine different types of 0% alcohol beers and ciders, not to mention alcohol free wine. The food portions are enormous, and tasty and there are plenty of condiments to go with them. Staff are friendly, competent and efficient, and just get on with serving you quickly. For a large chain that clearly uses the low price high turnover business model, meaning everything saved is passed to the customer, for me it ticks all the boxes. If I was to ask for one improvement, it would be to sell pork scratchings, to go with my non alcoholic pint. Thanks Wetherspoons, you're great!

It's a shame what was good is not could not go wrong with their burgers but the burger has been replaced with a cheap catering burger tasteless not been in for 6 months it's not the same tasted like cardboard how do you f up a burger chips were decent £4.50 a portion mental won't be coming back

They've hired a manager who acts by exerting her authority. Unfortunately, we live in a world based on being reasonable, and having to deal with an unreasonable and emotionally volatile manager, who bans people on her own nonsensical whims is neither a good look for the company or the location.

Good pub with friendly staff and the beer garden is great in the summer.

Dont be a happy bunny or you will be band. Rude an over worked staff. Foods ok depending how you catch it. Service is pass able if you are miserable don't wear a hat or give your opinion defiantly don't smile or be happy.

Ordered a meal for all the family and paid for this. Immediately, realised that the meals come with free drinks, so asked for the drinks just to be told the ticket had already gone through and if we wanted drinks we would have to pay for them. Hadn’t even left the bar. Very poor. Will not be going back there again.
