Decided to have “ toad in the hole”, omg when it arrived it basically was an enormous overcooked / burnt Yorkshire pudding that was filled on the base with mashed vegetables , large pieces of red onions ( undercooked) 3 Lincolnshire sausages and a minute portion of crispy kale. Small jug of “ watery” gravy to accompany it! The food was tepid. This IS NOT TOAD IN THE HOLE” One of our table had maple ham 1 egg and chips. Very disappointing . I small fatty piece of gammon/ ham. To be honest not worth the money. All meals tepid

The Grove is consistently excellent. Fantastic atmosphere, delicious fresh food expertly cooked and served, a good range of drinks to suit every taste and first class staff. We visited on Mother’s Day for a Sunday roast which was superb. Both meat and vegetarian meals were sampled and all were of excellent quality. It is also good that other options are available such as burgers and fish and chips, all of which are the same outstanding quality. Special thanks must go to Gemma. Service with a smile and utmost professionalism guaranteed! No Sunday roast is complete without the pudding and on this occasion we went for the chocolate brownie which as usual was delicious. We keep coming back for the wonderful staff, welcoming atmosphere and amazing food. Keep up the great work. Best venue in Exmouth!

Having checked with restaurant several weeks beforehand regarding dietary requirements (coeliac) I was advised that a lot of the menu can be made to accommodate. Arrived for Mother's Sunday lunch to be told we couldn't have Yorkshire puds, cauliflower cheese or pigs in blankets as weren't suitable. Whilst the dinner itself was ok the beef was unfortunately cooked just over rare and very chewy which she found hard to eat. Sadly she left feeling hungry and quite disappointed that her roast dinner and all the trimmings expected was underwhelming. Nothing mentioned at time as waiters were very busy and did a great job. However, as your roasts were the "star of the show" I personally feel more could have been done to accommodate requirements and make the experience 5 stars instead of 4

Lovely pub in nice part of Exmouth. Over the road from the beach. We had curried parsnip soup which was too spiced with curry unfortunately but was OK if u liked it hot/spicy. Then toad in the hole which was a large Yorkshire pudding with three large sausages, swede, carrots, red onion and kale put in the Yorkshire pudding. It was very filling and sausages etc tasted good. No room for pudding. Bit on pricey side. We paid over 70 for 2 with a bottle of pinot but lovely location in the summer I shld imagine.

Booked for Sunday lunch, ages to order then told food would be a minimum of 40 minutes. We were fed 1.5 hours after sitting down. Granted it was a nice day, there were loads of walk-ins ordering food, but if you book you expect to be fed in a timely manner. Food was OK, I had the sea bream which was well cooked but not scaled properly so couldn’t eat the fish skin which is a pity. Girl serving us - Sophie was run off her feet but coped really well.

Sunday roast! I needed to change the dish quite a bit because of a health issue, what a kind, helpful bunch of people work there, nothing was too much trouble. The young man with reddish hair and beard was particularly lovely. The roast chicken was delicious, I ate more than I normally would and even had dessert, sticky toffee pudding!! My husband really enjoyed the roast pork and rhubarb crumble. What a lovely relaxing place to enjoy a Sunday lunch! Thank you for making everything so easy! Perfect! ☺️

The barman who greeted us was very friendly and helpful explaining there were 3 different menus and a specials board. We decided to sit outside because it was sunny. Having arrived at 12.40 to an empty bar area by the time I went back in for a second drink the whole place was full. In spite of this the service and attention we received was impeccable. The food was excellent- a perfectly presented 2 Scotch eggs with runny yolks and mustard: 2 chicken chassure with mash : a large sticky toffee pudding with clotted cream and rhubarb crumble with custard. The bill including a couple of pints was under £50. We shall be back soon.

Oh dear, not a great experience for a customer needing Gluten Free food. There is nothing on the menus that indicates if the choice is GF or not. Had to ask the server. He said "if you choose what you want I can find out if it's GF". He then brought a file of products & ingredients & sat thumbing through the pages - quite intimidating! Then said Fish & Chips is GF guaranteed. I immediately ordered Fish & Chips, which were excellent. Unfortunately by the time I got home I was ill & suffered all evening with all the symptoms caused by gluten. I had only eaten GF porridge that morning for breakfast as I do most days and I was fine. So I'm sorry I won't be visiting again until you can get your GF act together.

It was my birthday, we'd booked a table well in advance. The pub couldn't trace the booking, asking if we'd cancelled it (?!?). We were then placed on a table by the door where we had to order from the bar as opposed to table service. Staff then approached and moved us upstairs to a nice table with table service. It just wasn't handled very well, no apologies, and they obviously did find the booking as the server then knew it was my special day. Silly really but I'd have thought a complimentary drink would have been a nice touch given our disappointment and worry at the start of our visit. Most of the food was great, some a little rushed after a mistake with the ordering. The experience would certainly make me think twice about returning I'm afraid. Lots of great alternatives in Exmouth. Oh, and they obviously DID have my booking as they emailed me asking me to review them....hence this mediocre review!

After last year having a really poor Easter Sunday Roast meal, thought we would try again today Lager flat, Childs meal wrong wrong brought out, told only beef and lamb still available, which was fine Then told only 2 lambs left so fine ordered 2 lamb and 2 beef, ordered these and when lamb turned up was just pure fat, fair enough then brought out some extra beef, however cold potatoes and general really disappointing meal, with lamb being charged at £23.50 😡 Complained then charged for Beef at £22 You really need to be presenting very good quality food at these prices not poor quality food at very top and prices So if you plan to visit this place for food be aware very poor

Nice friendly family run pub, always clean and tidy. Good bands normally on a Friday night. Well worth checking this pub out. Great prices to boot.
