First time here. From the moment we arrived the service was amazing. The food was so good, so good to have quality not quantity, just perfect sized portions ! The staff couldn’t have looked after us better, I am having treatment at the moment and can not tolerate sunlight! We sat in the conservatory which was lovely until the sun came out! The lady in charge was so helpful and moved everything into the restaurant without any fuss! It made such a difference to our lunch! I would thoroughly recommend and will be visiting again when in the area! Wine was good too!!

Have been several times and each time tell myself not to go back as some of the food tastes from bland to awful. We don't mind paying premium prices for something worth having - and occasionally treat ourselves to top restaurants, even the Ritz on one occasion and have always been delighted, but Mickeys, for all it's cracked up to be run by a famous Chef, comes nowhere near the quality of many of the local restaurants in Exmouth and area for delicious flavours. Steaks bland and a recent large and succulent looking fresh plaice so salty I had a raging thirst for ages. Might explain why there are usually tables available.

What can I say the location is spectacular with great sea views and the place is stylish and modern. On arrival the staff were attentive and very helpful and funny. The food caters for all tastes and was cooked to perfection we all had different starters and mains which were brilliant and came out in a timely manner. There is a huge wine cellar and the choice was fantastic the whole experience was top class and we are already planning our next visit, keep up the good work !

Venue is situated superbly and the views fantastic. When drinking outside it’s not ideal drinking from plastic glasses. The restaurant is modern and clean. The staff are friendly enough. The food is hugely expensive and very disappointing. Stay away from the spinach and ricotta starter which is overdone with oil. Simply tasteless. Fish and chips are mediocre considering you pay £21. A glass of wine is &11. Would not return or recommend.

Our experience at this restaurant was disappointing. The service was terrible from start to finish. Drinks arrived late, and despite asking multiple times for water, it was never brought to the table. Our party was ignored throughout the meal, with waiters only paying attention when it was time to settle the bill. The staff had a rude attitude, making us feel like we were an inconvenience. While the food was okay, it didn’t make up for the awful service. If you're looking for good customer care, this is definitely not the place to go. Wouldn't recommend dining here.

This is the second time I've been to Mickey's and the secnd time I've experienced poor service and found the food to be mediocre. This time, we visited on a Friday lunchtime and sat downstairs. The food took ages to arrive (we were told it would take 15/20mins but it was more like 50mins and we had to chase it twice) and my soup was a tiny portion, served with bread with far too much rosemary on it (as though the lid had come off the herb shaker). The poor guy behind the bar was taking food/drinks orders, pulling pints, pouring soft drinks and making coffees all by himself and was clearly stressed out. All in all, not enough staff, food took far too long to arrive and very over-priced given the quality and service. Mickeys - I gave you a second chance, you will not be getting a third.

The food was indeed delicious. I had the dressed crab with truffle fries. Partner had duck salad. All very tasty. However for the hefty price tag I don't expect nor like being charged £2 for tap water nor £8.50 for requested extra bread for baked camembert (which did not have enough bread) on top of mandatory service charge, seems a bit money grabbing when we had paid for expensive drinks also, so came away feeling somewhat stung in the pocket.

Our recent visit to Mickey's Beach Bar was nothing short of a disappointment. What was meant to be a special anniversary dinner turned into an evening of frustration and regret. The food was simply awful. Portions were paltry, and the prices were ridiculously high for what was offered. The so-called Indonesian curry was extremely thin, flavourless and resembled colored water more than a proper dish. To make matters worse, the fish of the day came with nothing but a mound of bland potatoes—no vegetables, no garnish, just potatoes. We ordered a shared starter, but the lack of side plates made it a messy and inconvenient experience. The wait staff didn’t seem to care about this or much else, for that matter. When we were asked how the food was, we said it wasn't great, then they changed the subject! Our drinks were billed at higher prices than those listed on the menu, and to top it off, we were charged for something we didn’t even order. Knowing it was our anniversary (they asked when we booked), we expected at least a small, thoughtful gesture. What we got was an insult: a plate with a drizzle of chocolate sauce and the saddest, smallest piece of fudge cut in half. This half-hearted attempt at celebration was more offensive than endearing—they really shouldn’t have bothered. Overall, Mickey's Beach Bar failed on every level. The food was dreadful, the service was indifferent, and the "special" gesture for our anniversary was insulting. We left feeling cheated and unsatisfied. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, especially if you’re looking to celebrate something meaningful.

A fabulous lunch for 10 to celebrate a fiftieth birthday. We were perfectly positioned on the covered terrace to enjoy the views and the weather, too. Great atmosphere. All in all, a terrific visit.

Nice place, shame about the underpouring of drinks. Not enough staff serving so the barman is already focussing on the next customer while pouring the current pint badly with a massive head. Charges for a pint but conveniently use old plastic glasses that are so faded there is no visible pint mark to show where it should have been poured too. With undersized drinks and expensive car parking this isnt a great experience. Nice view though.

July 13th 2024 Dear Sacha Cummings, I have rated 3 staff as 5 stars, but am unable to display the star rating I would give in respect to other staff and a very rude customer. My friend and I were shouted at from a distance- several tables away on the sea facing terrace. I was enjoying a bowl of mushroom soup with truffle oil and bread and a Zero alcohol drink .The shouter labelled us as "Disgraceful!" raising her voice from a distance and despite having been given a clear explanation, about what she thought she had witnessed, after a dog had been sick, she expressed her judgemental, unbending criticism to do with a situation that she was not close to. The situation we were involved with was initially dealt in a friendly, warm manner by a very young member of staff who insisted that she would do what we had said we were quite happy to deal with, if given the appropriate kit...blue towel roll, disinfectant, gloves, bucket or whatever was deemed to be the best practice by the establishment. We all had a friendly conversation when the task was started. The young staff said she was used to clearing up after cats and younger siblings and would not let us help. She said that was what she was there for...we again siad that we could clear up and felt sorry that there was not enough blue roll...she initiall came out with a receptacle og boiling water...not large enough. The rude invasive calling out customer had the explanantion and reiterated several times that we didnt do the clear up and that we we were disgraceful...we/ I said that we could even though we wanted to because the kind staff took over and said she would do it. I stayed at all times- for hygiene/health and safety so that no one would slip and that I could explain what had happened if anyone walked by and was shocked. Several staff came out looking loitering...obviously just incase they needed to intervene. Obviously you know the end of this stupid incident as the local customer who vocally attacked us , unprompted, from a distance sat drinking at her table, was able to stay, and we were told to move. AMAZING. The judgemental customer who had read the story completely wrongly phoned from her mobile and a friend appeared to console/attend/whatever. Please say thank you to the great personable member of staff who initially, before the rude customer heckled, had started to sort the situation. Thank you to the nicely spoken friendly bar staff who handled my soup, drink and snack order and a small thank you to an off duty chef who was told to stand near us. Its a first- never been asked to drink up and go after being attacked. The complaining customer remained...you were asked why we were the only ones to have to go.Please dont go into Law - barrister friends would find your summing up, without reviewing the facts properly, has flaws. Apart from that Exmouth was beautiful today. PS - please visit the Phoenix Arts Centre - their large homemade mushroom soup with 4 slices of freshly baked bread was £4.50 a few days ago. My one small Zero drink, a few chilli snacks and a soup came to over £18. I knew I was really paying for the calm terace and sea views...until the incident. Dismayed Deborah Hamilton ( and yes I know I answered the woman back...because I was amazed and appalled and found it incredulous that she said several times that we were disgraceful. And yes I did clap my hands...utter frustration. She did not stand up or come over to talk to us calmly- and to receive and attempt to understand the facts . There was no reasoning with her at all. Perhaps banning some people and not others will prompt some future managerial reflection .

Oh my goodness I know this place is called Mickey’s Beach Bar, but they really are taking ‘the mick’! First, when we arrived the place was empty and not a member of staff in sight. We had pre-booked and mentioned that it was a ‘special birthday’ treat but it couldn’t have been more lack lustre as we clearly arrived during a change in shift. We knew we couldn’t eat in the restaurant with our dog, but the bar area whilst pleasant you were drinking out of plastic glasses (inside). There was one amazing waiter, who was quite clearly exacerbated by the other staff (and I could understand why!) he couldn’t do enough and definitely needs more recognition from the powers at be, as the sole person on the floor. The food is expensive, but you’re at a Michael Caine restaurant on the sea front, so I would expect it to be pricey. Its was good, and my £30 (yes, that’s right thirty quid) Indonesian fish curry was delicious but I’ve had more fish in a fish finger! We highly recommend the burger, but at £20 you’d hope it was good. So would we go back… sorry, no. It’s got an amazing view, would be great for a drink but the staff need training hardly spoke and looked miserable (apart from the one superstar waiter!). You’d be better off going to the chippy, sitting on the wall and enjoying the view. Don’t waste your hard earned money!

So wanted to love it but didn't. It's a beautiful setting and, as a new Exmouth resident, was hoping to discover somewhere nice to bring guests to. I had seen the mixed reviews online ahead of time so knew what to expect re price-point and was comfortable with it (as long as the food delivered). Staff were friendly but took a bit long to take our order, then one of our starters was wrong. When it was brought back corrected, the other starter had already been finished. This wasn't a massive problem, but it all adds up to overall the experience. Starters - steak tartare had unnecessary additions with strong flavours (fried onions, pickles etc) which detracted from what imho should be a simple classic, and the steak itself (which should be the star of the show) wasn't the best quality. Garlic bread was nice - can't go wrong. We both had the BBQ pork belly as main - pork was delicious; beautifully cooked, but a bit underwhelming on the plate - just served with chips and a few pickles. Plate looked a bit empty and could've done with a third element. Bill came to just shy of £100. For two starters (one of which was bread), two of the cheapest mains on the menu, and 1 drink each (one glass of wine and one beer), it was pretty steep. I have had plenty better meals for considerably less. Appreciate that the setting adds a premium, but this just seems like tourist trap prices. Fair enough, but you won't catch the local market like that! Given the high price-point, I thought it was pretty bold to add a 12.5% service charge to the bill (this is a beach bar, not a Michelin star restaurant), and a charity charge! Charity charge was only 50p but it's the principle, as this is just being generous with other people's money. Please, Mickey, be generous with charitable donations from your own profits if you so choose, and I meanwhile will continue to donate to charity with my own cash in my own time.

We decided to try Mickeys in Exmouth. Whilst I appreciate paying above average prices for excellent food, especially in good surroundings, I felt this was over priced for what it was. I had a pizza. Whilst it was tasty, I didn’t feel it warranted a £20 cost. My cocktail did not taste like there was any rum or pineapple in it, merely vanilla and soda water. I felt I paid a premium price for cafe food in cafe surroundings. We sat in the glass area upstairs and the view was lovely. Sadly, it’s a one and done for us.

The view from our upstairs seating was fantastic of Exmouth beach. However, that was probably the only fantastic part of my evening. I ordered a medium rump steak & new potatoes. This came out looking like an average steak & potatoes and my hopes of a great meal was set… until I took my first bite into the potatoes where I found that they had gone off. They had black ‘mould’ through the middle of the potato which put me off really enjoying my food. The medium steak was extremely chewy and my hopes of having a delicious Caines meal was totally shattered. This is such a shame as I was hoping for such great things from such a classic steak and potato meal. Standards were pretty low and I was extremely disappointed especially when it is not a cheap meal out.

We had our dogs with us so were told we couldn’t go upstairs (however spotted several people leaving with dogs coming from there) and had to sit in the bar area. The wait and bar staff seemed like they were very understaffed, the atmosphere was pretty bad with lots of people (not customers) coming off the beach to use the facilities to wash their feet etc so it felt like we were sat in the middle of that having spent quite a bit it did not live up to that expectation and no value for money was felt. we called in on Saturday, the food was OK when we left after paying a waitress who was talking to a table by the stairs shouted at us 'have you paid' which jokingly we said no we are doing a runner. she then shouted again ' have you paid' my son then said of course we have paid. it was quite embarrassing an we will not be coming again. We had already been charged £12 for service ! and 50p for charity which I would like to have known more about. I don't remember seeing anywhere about the charity, I don't mind paying towards a charity but would like to know who they are, is it the Michael Cane charity ! The most rude waitress I have ever encountered. Being a restaurant manager I think more training is needed.

Great views over the Exe estuary. The menu is varied, not just fish as per some seaside restaurants and the food we had was great. Service was friendly and efficient and the atmosphere was relaxed.

Contrary to some reviews on here, our experience was first class. Visited for dinner during our first trip to Exmouth. The welcome was warm and the staff were polite, friendly and very attentive throughout the evening. Yes the prices are higher than you will pay in a pub or chain restaurant, but the quality of the food and presentation of the dishes is truly excellent so more than worth it in my opinion, especially when combined with the front row view out across the Devon shoreline and coast. Others have commented on portion sizes being small but this was not our experience at all (we couldn’t manage dessert!). I had the salt & pepper squid to start, followed by the delicious and highly recommended Indonesian fish curry. My wife had the beetroot salad followed by a perfectly cooked fillet steak. Our first choice of wine was unavailable so we opted for a slightly more expensive alternative, for which we were given a discount as recompense - a lovely gesture which we made no request for. Overall a fantastic evening, we will definitely return.

We came to enjoy the views from the restaurant. Looking at the menu, unfortunately, the prices for food were overpriced, most mains over £20, so we opted for drinks. We had been placed upstairs at our request, unbeknown that we needed to order food to sit there. Waiting staff were very rude, after more than half an hour of us already sitting upstairs, with drinks, we were told we needed to move, as we were taking up "valuable space". There were more than 10 free tables available upstairs, and no one was queueing to sit in this area. Lovely location, a shame about the frosty staff and ridiculous prices. Signage needs to be improved if you can't enjoy only drinks upstairs.

Appalling experience, shocking service, plastic glasses given to a 43 year old lady and 62 year gentleman, on request for a glass was told no unless we brought food, how degrading! Bar staff cringing at this but only doing there job, I shall not be visiting again, first and last experience lived in Exmouth my whole life. Disgusted.

We’ve been in Exmouth for a couple of years and tried most places to eat but had not tried Mickeys partly because of mixed reviews. Recently we’ve been twice in the last month so this review covers both meals. Service was one of the things mentioned as lacking. Both our visits were very positive with friendly attentive service. It’s slightly odd that they want to check you in on the ground floor even if you have a booking. This means waiting until the staff are not serving others in the bar. Food choice is good with a range of meat, fish and vegetarian options. The burger was very tasty and more recently the seafood curry was delicious. A wide range of drinks choices too. Both food and drinks are pricey and looking at previous reviews the seafood curry has increased by £6 whilst the salt and pepper squid has dropped by £2 so still seems like testing the market. Downside was the restaurant was cold when we got in. The couple on the next table kept their coats on. By the time we left it was warmer with no more people so obviously they turned it up but given the cost that should have been done much earlier. Overall nearly there but just for special occasions.

Awful coffee, somehow ‘lost’ our order, waited over 50 minutes, rather than prioritising it when they became aware of the mistake, came and said would you like a free drink as there will still be quite a wait! Tables left uncleared for ages, expensive for level of service and food

Paid £80 for 2 courses to be served in plastic cups and very cold food. Sent an email over a week & no-one bothered getting back to me, didn't want to write a review but after spending that much money for cold food and lack of care from the restaurant it's worth warning others to not bother.

Very disappointing, booked this for Xmas get together with friends. We had chosen the early dining menu which clearly said Oct-March, 2 courses £25. When we arrived were told it was £32.50 even though website didn't state this. The plaice I ordered was the tiniest piece of fish I have seen and was covered with a custard like sauce with a couple of boiled potatoes, not very inspiring. Friends ordered fish and chips which were OK but soggy chips. £200 for meal with drinks, surprised Michael Caines has put his name to this. Save your money, buy the local fish and chips and enjoy even better views from the prom. It was the Thursday before Xmas and half empty which says it all!!

We had been to the restaurant before and the food was unbelievable real Haute cuisine and the service was excellent. This time we arrived at 1pm for two very special birthdays. My husband was Soon to be 90 and myself 80.The welcome was cursory. The Sevice was slow but we were all happy to be together as a family for a very special occasion Each course gradually came. Six of the party had starters which were easy and quick to prepare. Then there was a long wait At two forty five a waitress came and said I’m sorry but your order did not go through to the kitchen!! It will be about another five minutes My daaughter and I had been waiting for nearly two hours. She and I ordered plaice. It didn’t say on the menu how it was going to be presented. When it came it was just this enormous black fish sitting in a pool of butter no garnish except for a few shrivelled up shrimps no lemon. I ordered side vegetables. A bowl of curly kale came no other vegetable and it was inedible. Thankfully the plaice was properly cooked. By the time we had waded through this most unattractive fish it was so late that there was no time for desserts or coffee. I asked for the bill. When it came I was shown where the service charge was. I said I’m sorry I’m not paying that. I would have thought that the restaurant would have given a drink on the house or a bottle of wine knowing we had a celebration The portions were huge We could have gone downstairs to the bar cafe for that. I feel that they changed from the beautifully refined and exquisitely flavoured dishes to an everyday large meal at high prices. The location is stunning Subsequently I tried to get in touch to complain but to no avail. So I phoned Lympstone Manor to make a complaint to the owner Michael Caines. I spoke to a charming secretary. she said that she would get in touch with them. I left it a day and heard nothing. I emailed Mickeys again and had an almost immediate phone call from the bar manager who apologised profusely and said he would give us 25% off our next bill and a drink on the house We won’t be going back because the type of meals we were offered ere not what we expected

I dropped in for a coffee whilst out for a walk on the sea front, there are great views of the beach. It was a relaxed environment, with helpful engaged staff. Upstairs is restaurant only so not able to just have coffee in there. The cafe is on the side of the main building with a range of patissier goodies. Looked great but I didnt indulge today. Cheap ingredients, bland and well overpriced. What the hell happened to the old style pizzas with the decent bacon etc? Bloody awful. I never had a problem with you guys for many many years. Staying in Devon cliffs no kebab shop, so I thought I would find the nearest kebab shop, big big big mistake is an understatement. I ordered a chicken doner kebab and a lamb doner kebab and chips. Well he takes your payment immediately then starts cooking. I see him cooking chicken shish so I confront him and tell him that’s not what I asked for. I ask for chicken doner. He calls me a liar and says I asked for chicken shish. So I tell him no I asked for chicken doner, he says no I didn’t, so I tell him to go check his camera, at this point he goes quiet. The conversation got quite heated. I had to get out of there as I would have ended up getting arrested. I didn’t get my money back and didn’t eat the kebabs because whilst all this was going on I noticed all the grease over everything, all under and at the back of the cookers, on top the clock, absolutely disgraceful. May aswell chucked my money in the bin. Thank god I never have to go there again.

This was our first visit to The Farm Table and it won't be the last, from the moment we were seated until leaving, the service was superb, a special shout out goes to Cal and his young counterpart (Sorry didn't get his name) for doing such a great job, both a credit to the team. The food was very tasty and we enjoyed all 3 courses with a lovely bottle of wine. It's a lovely atmosphere at certainly a venue to dress up smart and enjoy the evening. Extra effort made for birthday, even to attention to notes on booking and washing my partner happy birthday as shown to the table.

In summary the pizzas are absolutely fantastic!! We had a margarita, garlic bread+mozzarella and Hawaiian. All of which were delicious The website is easy to use and the delivery quick as we received the pizza pretty much within the hour as requested. I thought I’d note the different bases as I asked this…the artisan is hand pulled and the other is machine rolled. The machined rolled can fit more toppings but either option has that hand made/delicious taste All in all definitely buy from here!!!
