Love the ethos of the place. "The staff and volunteers are being trained in invaluable skills and hospitality experience to help them improve their career prospects. Guests are welcomed to make our house their home for the day, sample the menu and meet the wonderful people who are giving back to the community!" The environment is warm and inviting and the staff are super friendly. Prices are very reasonable. I'd gone there, as part of time put aside specifically to sit and reflect on the memory of someone. I wanted somewhere relaxed and unhurried, where I wasn't made to feel I'd overstayed my welcome. It was certainly better than many places in that regard. It transpired that they run their own radio station which was transmitted into the cafe. Great idea for those involved in creating and running that. However, the music wasn't to my taste and was rather loud, so I was unable to relax. Of course some visitors will actively enjoy this aspect. I wanted to point it out because it may possibly affect people's ability to enjoy the place fully, as a cafe and meeting place. I would have struggled to have a tranquil conversation with someone over coffee. It would be a great place for small groups to have informal meetings but again I think the level of the radio transmission would be unhelpful in that situation. It may be that the radio station isn't transmitting all day, every day. I can only review my own experience there. The place was quite "buzzy" enough to create a warm atmosphere Some very quiet, non abrasive background music would have been perfectly acceptable to me, I just found this to be too invasive. It may be that the benefits to the volunteers in operating the radio station, far outweigh the benefits of maybe getting more customers into the cafe ... and I'm perfectly fine with that. I'm sure the project is all about balance and I wish them every success. If you don't mind loud, fashionable music, then it could be a great little hideaway for you.

Had the tasting menu last night, what an amazing experience - unbelievable tastes, service so good, such a fabulous time, and I am vegan/gluten free; so much effort and kindness given to make my food experience as good as my husbands. Will definitely return, excited to try the a la carte too, cannot recommend enough, a perfect treat or special occasion choice.

Me and my dear friend are men of curry, we have eaten curry from all over the country and world. This establishment looked picturesque, right on the Riverside and very welcoming. Poppadoms and dips were very standard, lentil soup starter was good. The curries were a total disaster. I have heard a lot of people state that some establishments use heinz tomato soup as sauce! But these guys really do! It's unbelievable, my chicken madras was submerged in heinz tomato sauce! If you don't believe me, go and Try it for yourself! I have given good, great and bad reviews on my search for a good curry but this place is awful! My friends lamb dish that didn't taste like lamb was burned and chewy! I have never said this in any reviews before but this has to be the worst indian food I have ever tasted nationwide. I'm just being honest. They were very friendly people. Staff were very accommodating. Mr Curry.

Booked a table for lunch, upon arrival discovered we could not go into the restaurant as there was no suitable access if you have a disability. No signage to state if there was another accessible entrance. Therefore, we had to leave and ventured across the road to a lovely restaurant with access. Emailed the restaurant to say we couldn’t attend the booking due to access issues, no response.

I have eaten here many times before and brought my family as a special post-Christmas meal. We were beyond disappointed. We waited for ages at the bar the staff saw us arrive but didn't come over until I went to ask. The restaurant was very quiet but most tables had dirty glasses on them, including the bar, staff all made us feel like they didn't want to be there. 3 of the party's drinks came I had to wait a further 10 minutes for my drink having to ask two staff members before it arrived. We ordered scallops to start & catch of the day. Once the order went in They then told us no scallops and the starters we chose were all very disappointing. The service was terrible with the waiter going outside to vape when he could. We weren't offered drinks until we asked and they kept asking if they could clear our glasses making is feel like they all just wanted us out so they could go home. The food was well below average and expensive, service was terrible. Sadly nothing like the meals we've had in the past here and i felt embarrassed at how poor everything was!

Had few drinks here whilst staying in Truro for weekend. Everyone was really friendly, staff nice & there is a gorgeous pub dog to welcome you.

We had booked and paid for afternoon tea at £25 pp. The selection and quantity of food was very poor. 2 fingers of sandwich per person to feed 16 people and with one option being smoked salmon which a lot of people didn't like so even less to go round. The sausage rolls The pastry was raw and again not even enough for one per person. The tea and coffee was never once topped up, neither was the jugs of water. For £25 per person it would have been nice to have the choice of a soft drink, not everyone drinks tea or coffee. I would not recommend it, no where near the quantity or quality of food for the price paid. Very disappointed!
