This is one of our favourite lunch and snack spots within reasonable distance of Plymouth and where the staff and the food never fail to please. You can book by phone but we didn’t because we couldn’t see that days menu in advance. Despite being a mid August weekday lunchtime the ferry was easy no wait drive on drive off and the route around Antony, Tregantle and Millbrook was easy and unimpeded. We should have clocked our predicament when we drove into the Canteen car park where there were already 80+ cars. About half the outside benches were filled but inside the tables were full everywhere and the queue was very long. Everything is fresh, both classic and invented, very tasty, home cooked and assembled. Customers outside are given a vibrating flashing device to alert that food is ready. Our overall wait was almost 50 minutes but no one’s fault given the time of day. When we finally got our tasty platters the food was delightful. No regrets other than our planning. We should have bought a bottle of wine or some beer at the counter to help pass the time. Interesting that the customers on Wednesday were very predominantly older folk grandparent types often with smallish children - baseball caps etc- and a smattering of students/early twenties types. All relaxed and evident patches of fun but terribly nice. The Canteen has a good feel, we will remain regulars. Pleased to recommend.

Today myself and my family visited The Kernow Lounge for the first time and what a delight it was. When we arrived Robin the owner welcomed us with a warm welcome and a friendly smile. First impressions of the coffee shop were what a cute little place this is especially the greeting from the resident dog who is just adorable and so friendly. There were lots of things to look at around the shop including hand made items made by residents of millbrook which customers can buy which I thought was a great addition, especially as these items were bright and colourful. Looking at the menu board and cake counter there was lots of choice. I chose a latte which was just so creamy and smooth (I’m quite fussy with my coffee), my son had a strawberry milkshake which was topped with cream and marshmallows and chocolate sprinkles which again was just delicious (I had to also give it the taste test)! My other son had a tub of vanilla ice cream which was by roskilleys and it was a generous sized scoop of it! Myself and my husband wanted to try the cake selection so ordered a piece of the chocolate brownie and a yoghurt topped raspberry flapjack slice which he said was just stunning. The chocolate brownie was so gooey and moist which is how I think brownies should be so that went down a treat! The portion sizes were really generous too. We sat outside which was lovely especially as the sun was shining and it was a warm afternoon. We really enjoyed our visit to the Kernow Lounge today and combined it with a lovely walk around a beautiful lake which also had a fantastic play park and skate park for the children. It really makes a brilliant family outing as there is something for the whole family to do. My boys have already told us what they are having next time so they clearly enjoyed themselves. Thanks to the Kernow Lounge for some lovely treats today, we will be back very soon.

We stayed for a week and didn’t want super store produce. We came across this independent deli and absolutely loved the food. The eggs were perfectly fresh and free range; the frozen meals were excellent, no additives and you could buy the frozen veg to compliment the meals; curries excellent; lasagne amazing with peas and leeks and butter. You can order sourdough… perfect. Wine selection excellent and the owners / staff fantastic.

We found our way to Freathy Farmhouse Cafe by following a sign from Whitsand Bay. What a lovely find! Very rustic and charming cafe. We sat outside in the sun and enjoyed very generous sandwiches served with delicious salad. Some of us even managed cake! We will definitely return although I understand it is best to check opening times. Ps Loved the decor in the loo!

We are so lucky to have Lucy’s Kitchen on our doorstep. The food she creates is everything you want and need from a bake - crammed with flavour, soft, buttery and generous. Donuts, cinnamon swirls, sandwiches, cakes - the list goes on! Her homemade pasta kits are a wonderful indulgence too to whip up at home and tuck into. This is the best food you’ll find on the Rame Peninsula!

9 of us visited the cafe today, and each one of us have good things to say about the food and the service. Everything we tried tasted good, and Diane was amazing! Location of the cafe couldn't be any better - so picturesque! I would definitely recommend it and hope to visit again when we are in the region.

We had heard about this lovely pub/restaurant from other friends recommendations and decided to visit it. We were most certainly not disappointed! I lovely welcome as soon as we arrived, a quaint and cosy area to sit, it has two areas a pub side and a restaurant side, we sat on the pub side because we had some dogs with us and quickly served our drinks. Extremely accommodating, welcoming staff truly service with a smile! We ordered for Sunday roasts one was beef, one was pork and two were three meat roasts with all of the trimmings, including Yorkshire pudding, and wow, what incredible food it was. Every slice of meat was cooked to perfection, and such a variety of vegetables on the plate which all so tasty and cooked to the best of standards. One of our party needed vegetable gravy due to not being able to have pork meat in it and this was accommodated for, another guest needed their meat cooked extremely well done and although at first it arrived cooked medium rare the staff soon rectified this and bought back the meat cooked exactly our guest liked it. Then we were onto desserts, such a great choice of desserts we were spoilt on what to order, however we went for, the Pavlova and fruit crumble with custard and both of these dishes were so tasty and so well presented! Living in Cornwall we eat in many different restaurants, and I can honestly say this is the best that we have found for a Sunday lunch. Cannot and will not hesitate to recommend this to anybodywe know , or anybody that breeds the reviews book up you will not be disappointed ! Thank you so much for a wonderful visit , and for being so accommodating to our needs you are truly the gem of a dining experience in cornwall

We visited for breakfast, lovely coffee, amazing bread and my husbands Eggs Benedict were perfect, my sausage sandwich unfortunately was a let down, poor quality and not very well cooked sausage, a shame. Clearly a popular palce with fantastic bakery products.

Staying in Portwrinkle and looked for somewhere nearby for breakfast. After reading the reviews decided to try the hill top cafe and were not disappointed. Great choice, all cooked to order and all of our food was absolutely delicious. Excellent service. We arrived just after 10am and already it was busy but we waited for a table which didn’t take long. Lunch menu looked good and we will return.
