Recently visited for breakfast & found that this could be an amazing place; however, we didn’t find the staff very welcoming and the cleaning standards in the dining room are not up to scratch. There was food debris on the window sills next to the tables and the floor again needed a sweep. The tables were clean, so I would presume that the crumbs are just being wiped onto the surrounding surfaces rather than being caught and disposed? The cushions also need a clean as they have marks on them. The food itself was very good value for money & was served quickly and tasted fresh. I think the owners of this establishment would be disappointed that their employees are not keeping the cleaning and hospitality standards high.

We visited from work for a cheeky breakfast.I had Bacon, poached eggs on toast and 2 cappuccinos. Everything was just perfect. The cappuccinos were moreish, the bacon was slightly crisp the way I like it, the poached eggs were perfectly cooked and the bread was good quality. The staff were friendly. Great place, great value, great food.

I had seen the cafe from the road and was looking forward to visiting. At first I was a little disappointed as the salty dog I was hoping to meet wasn’t in but soon found that the cakes the humans were eating were really nice. The staff humans were really nice too. I noticed dog ice cream on the menu and hope to try this on another visit. Would recommend a visit.

An amazing little cafe with superb service and the food was freshly prepared and great value! Very welcoming and dog friendly! If you are passing or in the area then give this place a go you will not be disappointed!

We have driven past this cafe on a few occasions and today was the day we finally stopped after a walk at Kingsand. Smaller cafe than I thought but friendly waitress and dog friendly. Things done perfectly- delicious homemade cakes and scones, large mugs of proper tea and rich yummy coffee. Prices are very reasonable too and we will definitely be back to try the other meals on offer, especially breakfast. Thank you.

On our way to Mount Edgecumbe and thought we would call in . Small cafe on an industrial estate . All tables were full but 2 local ladies allowed us to sit with them . Great conversation but not intrusive . Food arrived , just as ordered , and the local ladies spoke amongst themselves whilst we ate . I probably should not mention price but it was a lot less than I had thought . I had thought of captioning this review as "So lovely " because that it what it was .

We ordered 2x Breakfast Large (Medium at best) 2 eggs, one under cooked and slimy, 2 bacon, over cooked like cardboard, 2x hash browns over cooked like biscuits, 2x sausages cooked spot on and was the best thing about the breakfast. Tomato and mushrooms were ok, 1 small piece of toast. The breakfast cost £9.95 each coffee was not included. Total cost for 2 breakfast's with coffee £25.10 Where I come from in Pembrokeshire I could get 3 LARGE breakfast with coffee for less.

Driving along from Tregantle beach towards Kingsand we stumbled across this lovely little cafe. Great location, over looking a field or 2 of sheep, lovely, fresh and affordable food and great staff! We will definitely be back. Thank you.

i was visiting the business park next to this small cafe/take away and when in Cornwall you stop and have a proper Cornish pasty it was hot and delicious .

Found by chance, great cooked breakfast, piping hot, latte nice and hot , lady serving very friendly and food arrived quickly, will definitely return when in the area.

Popped in after a long 6 mile walk to some absolutely delicious lunch. We had the fish goujons and chicken goujons sub - both were great! The staff were very friendly and the cafe itself is very cosy! We will definitely be back when we’re next in the area :)

Currently sitting in the cafe having just enjoyed the chorizo flatbread, which I highly recommend. Lovely little place, wife was really impressed with the fresh tomato soup too. Dogs are made very welcome! We were offered free drinks for having to wait too long, which was exceedingly generous as we hadn't waited that long really. Anyway, we will be back!

A very friendly place with great service and adherence to Covid-19 was excellent. We had breakfast, I had a light salty dog veggie breakfast and the sweet potato bubble & squeak was delicious. I'm lactose intolerant so really appreciated the available oat milk.My husband had the enormous full English which was also very good. The countryside views were very calming and the Cornish pasty bakery next door seemed popular.

Just stopped i here for breakfast whilst we were on holiday. We were going to go to the orangery but there was a wedding on. We were so grateful we went here instead. A family favourite our lunches at The Salty Dog. The food is superb, presentation and taste spot on. Im glad someone else has mentioned the veggie hash which comes with the all day brunch,we love it! Also the vegan parcels are delicious and almost look too lovely to eat !The staff are very friendly and the place is kept meticulously clean. Top notch food, great quality, more like restaurant food then cafe food. Can’t remember a better cup of coffee. Kids loved the food, milkshakes and ice cream. Bacon sandwich and omelette were delicious. Only fresh food and ingredients here from the fresh bread to tasty bacon, they clearly care about the quality and taste of their food here. Friendly service too. We had to go back one more time before we left the holiday. Highly recommended!!!

Just by the side of the road.....next to Cornish Pod for excellent pasties too...is a very smart family run cafe. Very clean, fresh with happy staff to serve you what you want. Not the cheapest but then quality never was.

The Salty Dog provides the best breakfast around! The food is amazing and always freshly cooked, and their veggie breakfast is brilliant. It was one of the places I missed most about lockdown! Cannot recommend the veggie hash that goes with the breakfast enough! Also, really friendly staff and nothing is too much trouble for them. Great little cafe, one of my favourites!

First time visiting and it wont be the last. Living locally we tend to drive past and never stop, but today we decided on breakfast out and thought we'd give it a go.Very friendly place, comfortable and a great cup of fresh coffee. Breakfast was of a high quality with mushrooms and tomatoes that actually tasted as they should! Sausages, eggs and bacon were of a really good quality. Everything was freshly cooked to order and we were pretty stuffed for most of the day following it.Great to have such a good quality place so close by.

Our first visit since the new owners took over earlier in the year. We were pleased and made to feel welcome. The food was freshly cooked, hot, presentation superb and very tasty. Lovely coffee too. We enjoyed so much, taking my Dad there for lunch next week !

Take away hot drinks were fine BUT the bacon roll sub was very poor. Pre-over cooked bacon, very chewy, just bits not rashers. Served in a stale 6 inch sub. Plus expensive.

Only been there once, but the food was good. The Salty Dog is a popular eating place, although the menu had a limited selection for my fussy taste. Good location, near to Gallows Park, there must be some history to research about the location.

We have driven past the Salty Dog numerous times on our way to Cremyll or Mount Edgecumbe. This time we decided to stop for lunch on our way back home. It didn’t disappoint. We had eggs Benedict and a all day breakfast, both with coffee. All very good quality produce and hot fresh food with a smile. What more could you want? Reasonably priced though not cheap. Dogs welcome too inside. Would definitely recommend will definitely be back.

Was on the way to Mt. Edgecombe and we had some time to kill , both feeling a bit peckish and happy to find somewhere open on a wet, chilly Sunday morning. We had 2 hot drinks , attack of pancakes and the veggie breakfast. I heard a nearby chap saying the place had recently been taken over and he was moaning about the change in black pudding .... I have to say to the new owners , the food was lovely , they were friendly and my coffee was a good one . A quick mention of the really nice bubble and squeak and field mushrooms.We always keep a list of places we will return to and the Salty Dog will see us again.

The coffee was very good and so was the service - I can't fault either. The food is not as good as it could be - we had cooked breakfasts - the eggs were fried quickly, i.e.overcooked underneath and undercooked on top, the bacon was dry and burnt, the hash browns were the frozen type that tasted like the oil needed changing, the extra black pudding I ordered had an odd flavour to it, like minty. The beans came in a small pot, why? The sausage was tasty but undercooked - the mushroom dry and flat. It all felt a bit rushed - even though there was a statement saying they don't do fast food, so as a customer my expectation was that it would take a bit of time but at least be right. It wasn't cheap either. We ate most of it but it's probably our first and last visit.

We had breakfast in this cafe twice whilst on holiday. It's a lovely light and airy cafe with gorgeous views over the local countryside. My husband had the veggie breakfast on both visits, which he thoroughly enjoyed. My first breakfast was the bubble and squeak with a poached egg and streaky bacon. My second breakfast was the full Salty Dog breakfast. All the breakfasts were perfectly cooked, nicely presented and very very tasty. The tea and coffee were good too. We really enjoyed both visits to this cafe and will certainly call again the next time we were on holiday in the area. The waitress was friendly and gave everyone a cheery hello when customers entered. This cafe is well worth a visit. We called there before returning home after our holiday. It was a lovely relaxed way to finish the holiday and sent us home after a delicious relaxed breakfast.

Had a veggie breakfast today. Everything was perfectly cooked: mushrooms, eggs, hash browns, tomato, really nice bubble and squeak. The Salty Dog was a lovely surprise.

Popped in the way to Cawsand for ‘coffee n cake’. We have been before (last year) and it was always good but there seems to have been a change for the better. I had Blackwell Tart, the pastry was wonderful, thin, delicate and flavoursome, the filling yummy and nicely baked. My companion selected lemon Meringue, she was not disappointed. Staff were fab.

Great place, great food, great service and great decor .. we had the breakfast on a Saturday morning and it ticked all the boxes, recommenced ... just a small warning it does get busy at this time but that’s a good sign right!!

Stopped off at the Salty Dog Cafe, just for a coffee but seeing the menu we ended up having a really delicious lunch. We loved the homemade fish finger sandwiches with side salad and tasty dressing. My daughter who is vegan was offered a special off the menu dish of Chickpea curry which was also very good. Staff really friendly and helpful. We will certainly be back for more!!! Thank you.

We had a lovely stop here. The lunch menu is small but our sandwiches were delicious, generously filled and beautifully presented. The cake we treated ourselves too for afters was fabulous and the service lovely and friendly. Definitely recommended.

What a gem of a place. Delicious cakes...too late sadly for food but the menu looked stunning, I actually think the lady took pity on two slightly frazzled walkers and 2 hot dogs and served us cake and frappe, treats and fresh water for the dogs, she was so welcoming and friendly. If you are nearby I can thoroughly recommend the Salty Dog Cafe.

If you have a dog this place should be on your itinerary. We only called for coffee but were made so welcome, humans and dog alike. Great atmosphere, delicious coffee and the cakes certainly looked delicious even though we didn’t taste them.

We arrived with two large dogs and a baby and were immediately made to feel welcome. The food was excellent, all homemade and freshly cooked. The staff were friendly and helpful. This is a great little place for brunch or lunch.

You can’t be a good fry up. All local quality ingredients, well cooked a friendly bunch of lovely ladies. We’ll be back soon

Arrived just too late for breakfast but friendly staff let us choose off the breakfast menu anyway ( sadly had run out of sausages) but we went ahead regardless. Beautiful, tasty ingredients lovely staff - a great place. Have booked a return breakfast trip, this time with sausages (which looked amazing)! Can’t wait to try.

Just stopped for drinks and we made very welcome. Served very quickly and the food we saw coming out of the kitchen was freshly cook and looked delicious. Limited opening hours at present but I’m sure they will be extended during the summer. Ideally places on road to Rame Head I would defend recommend it. We arrived 10 mins after opening and it got busy within 30 mins! Well worth a stop
