Spent 2 days here in our tourer. Very smart, clean site. Very friendly pub withe delicious home cooked grub. Debbie and Chris the owners were so helpful, as were the staff. Would highly recommend. A+++++++++

We stayed at their newly renovated caravan for 2 nights, and had the best time! Beautiful caravan, fully equipped and spotlessly clean. Views were amazing, and very quiet (2 caravans) Had a meal in the restaurant one evening which was lovely food, followed by live music which we danced all night. They made great Baby Guinness 🤪 Definitely 5 stars ✨ Hosts were lovely.

This is how a foreigner imagines a Country Pub to be: all around pleasant experiece. Maybe except for the weather, which made the Beer Garden a bit wet and cold. The food was nice, we enjoyed it. We would gladly return - but since this was on-route while on vacation it is not very likely.

Visited this pub while on holiday in the area. We're not sure if this is a regular Friday or whether we visited on a bad day. We booked a table over the phone as we needed to ensure they were dog friendly. We arrived and walked in but found we couldn't get to the bar to ask where to go as there were people sat on stools across the short length of the bar. After speaking to someone we were pointed at a table laid with cutlery which was just one of two tables in this front bar area. It was located right between the door to the toilet and the door to the games room (which was huge) Anyway we sat down and started to look through the menu. Within minutes around 15 to 20 people all flooded past us into the games room making the loudest noise you can imagine. They continued to shout at the top of their voices, despite being only a few feet from each other. They were so loud we couldn't even hear each other on a table for two. The other table became free and we chose to move, however, although this was slightly quieter (only slightly) the height of the table to the chairs meant we felt like the food was right under our noses. To be fair the food was actually quite good but the atmosphere completely ruined the visit for us. As I say, no idea if this is a regular thing for a Friday or whether we picked a bad day, but maybe worth checking before you book.

We booked last minute to camp over night. Communication was great and felt welcome as soon as we arrived. Site great with a great view! Mads behind the bar was perfect…. Fun attentive helpful and warm and funny! Great beer, normal nice pub grub. Recommend !!!!

Where do I start. Situated in a lovely little village this place is likely the beating heart that soo many villages sadly lack. A great name matched to the green exterior. Plenty of outside seating and my god what a view. Probably the best views I've seen from a pub garden. Just stunning. Onto the lovely presented interior where we were treated warmngly by locals first which was a great sign and then equally as nicely by the barman. Its what I want from a pub. It was clearly a pub that served food and not one of these wannabe pubs that is really a restraunt first and a pub second. Sport was on the tv but on silently so it didnt spoil the atmosphere In the main bar. A games room is to the side with a pool table and large tv if you want to hear the sport so they cater for everyone. We settled In a lovely window seat where we could see the bar, tv and get the warmth off the fire. Food was great as well. Solid pub menu and done very well. Overall an extremely good experience from start to finish. Can't recommend this little gem enough. Frog and Bucket South Petherwin is a must if you're in the area.

What a drab dump. A cluster of local men around the bar and one of them eventually shuffled along so that I could be seen by the barman (lunchtime on 20/4/24). No welcoming smile, I asked for two sparkling waters. We don't have water. Do you have still water please? No, no water only soda water. We eventually settled on tonic water. We opted for a baguette lunch thinking a lovely crusty roll would arrive. As if. It was one of those part-baked freezer breads. There were no redeeming features about this place at all and the barman was the surliest person I'd seen in hospitality. Avoid this place if you want a lovely atmosphere.

We ate here on a Wed night as we stayed overnight in our caravan. What a gem of a find, warm welcome from Ben as we arrived, then Lee and other staff were so friendly. My husband retired on Tuesday and they left him a little card on our table when we came for dinner, that's customer service. Excellent tasty curry for him and one of the nicest halloumi burgers I've ever had followed by two tasty puddings. Wonderful beer garden with fantastic views and the sun was shining, perfick. Wished we were staying longer. Thank you everyone and compliments to the chef, highly recommend you to all our friends. Sandy & Nick

Excellent from start to finish. My husband and I were having date night. We don't get much time alone together. Gorgeous little pub with lovely atmosphere. Service and food was first class. We had a lovely time. Recommend.

Didn't eat in the F&B but a great atmosphere with some good conversation with a few of the locals. Well worth a visit, and apparently you can park your van round the back, by prior arrangement, if your eating & drinking and don't wish to drive home!!

This is a lovely country in with great views and a fantastic garden. The staff are friendly and welcoming and there is plenty of parking. The food ranges from snacks like curried chips to good sandwiches and burgers etc to fish and chips etc. The food is well priced for the area. Good range of beers and ciders available too.

Stayed here in my Motorhome, only a few minutes from the A30 with easy access, the views are stunning, the free house pub has a great atmosphere, is very welcoming and friendly with a well stocked cellar. The food is excellent, prepared and served by staff who understand the clients expectations.

Had a lovely meal and drinks here on Sunday evening Steak and ale pie and hunters chicken was our choice.. hot and tasty would recommend

Pub with an amazing view! Shame the weather wasn’t quite up to sitting outside to eat as the view was stunning. We arrived without a booking just 10 minutes before the kitchen was closing on a Sunday. After a quick check, the kitchen were happy to accommodate us as long as we ordered quickly. Food was well cooked and the portions were generous. We were made to feel welcome and the barman checked regularly that we were happy with everything. The toilets were also well presented and very clean. A positive experience and we will return.

This pub is a real find. Friendly staff, excellent service and absolutely delicious food. Most of us had burgers which were really tasty but the star of the dishes was the chips. They were awesome. Thank you for a great evening. We’ll be back!

An unexpected find and glad I did. Terrific beer garden and sensibly priced beer. Barmaid even charged my phone, without charge !

We booked as a party of 6. Staff were so helpful and due to the wind we sat inside. (Always a refreshing wind across the fields from Dartmoor). We ordered from the fairly restricted menu and from the specials board. After a few minutes we were told that only one of the three from the specials board was available! We had to order again. When the food arrived it was hot and fresh and tasty. Smaller portions than we used to get here but sufficient. Great to see 6 empty plates. For dessert we ordered and again after a delay we were told that some items were not available. This was early on a Saturday - seemed odd to be out of stock! The waiting staff apologised for all the errors but too often, so they started apologising for the apologies! Would we visit again. Absolutely YES.

Having heard very good things about this place. I can now personally confirm this place is absolutely fantastic! The food delicious, I mean really good. The burgers are the best I have ever tasted and I mean ever! Made in house and just cooked to perfection. The baguette was heartily filled with aged cheddar and sharp chutney. Again delicious. However it’s the chips! The chips are divine! They are scooped so you can use them to pick up sauce, coleslaw anything. A real game changer! Service is outstanding, friendly, professional and genuine! Our server seemed to truly love what she was doing and it showed! Cost was amazing! Super reasonable especially at the moment. Totally worth every penny! Food and drinks cheaper than expected especially considering the quality! I will definitely come her again as this hidden gem is now not so hidden! A huge thank you to the staff working this Saturday who have made this impromptu visit a real crowd pleaser!

Always wanted to try this place but no recent reviews or online menus, so decided to give it a try! Well it was fabulous with a great varied menu, and a lovely welcome, the pub has great character with lots of interesting décor to see, service was top notch and the food was everything you could wish, delicious home cooked and plenty to fill you up! four of us had different meals and all were superb in their own right! We all agreed that this will be high on the list when we go out again!!!!

Driving down to Cornwall we were searching online (well I was - the wife was driving) for a pub for lunch somewhere close to the A30. The pub in South Peverwil seemed ideal and so we turned off near Launceston and headed into the village. It's a small village but despite much searching we couldn't find it. Finally a kindly local explained there had been a name change and eventually we arrived at the Frog and Bucket. What a joy. Lovely young lady made us incredibly welcome and chatted about the extensive collection of 'transportana' which covers the wall. A great burger for me and a jacket potato for the driver - a good pint for me and a Coke for the driver. Just a lovely place to stop and even friendly locals to chat to! (Yeah - we saw pictures of that sign over the A30 a couple of years ago). We might only reappear here (if they don't change the name again) a couple of times a year but I suspect the welcome will always be warm.

Without doubt this is probably one ot the best pubs for Sunday roast. They don't do carvery but what they do serve is fantastic. Ben certainly knows how to cook and the rest of the staff there are great. I have been going there for the last year or so and have never been disappointed. Good family friendly pub. Dogs are welcome too.

Found the Frog and Bucket whilst visiting a nearby attraction in Launceston. We arrived a bit early for food (starts from 6) but had a nice drink outside until the table was ready. The setting is really beautiful, nice views from the beer garden. The man behind the bar and the young waitress who served our food were both really friendly and helpful. Food itself was really good and came quickly and the desserts were amazing. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

Rang to reserve a table very helpful and accommodating booked us in for the evening even though it was late food was absolutely delicious I had the Texan burger and my friend had the Halloumi burger both were delicious and well presented the staff were all polite and helpful would highly recommend

We had the great pleasure to play in the Frog & Bucket. The food was fantastic, the guys and gals are very welcoming, nothing is to much trouble, the B&B is modern, clean and very well looked after, the beer is well kept and there...

You should be able to expect a good standard of service wherever you go but they real measure of service excellence is how well a business copes when something has gone wrong and the manner in which they recover. Due to circumstances completely beyond the control of the management my friends and I arrived and a Wednesday lunchtime expecting to find a lunchtime menu with limited service outside because of the pandemic. Upon arrival I was greeted by a nice gentleman who turned out to be the manager who asked what he could get me. I ordered a pint of Guinness and asked for the menus. He informed me that they don't do food on Wednesdays. I explained that my friends and I had travelled some considerable distance and had expected to find a limited menu on offer. The manager made a prompt and heartfelt apology for the misunderstanding and assured me that we would be offered a choice of burgers or a homemade chilli con carne although it might take a little while as he would have to open up the kitchen. The service was excellent the food was delicious and very good value. We all left very satisfied with what turned out to be a very pleasant, if slightly damp, experience. It isn't often we are in the area but I can guarantee that we will be returning again in the future Update Came back again and this place gets better and better. A detail often overlooked is the condition of the toilets. At the Frog and Bucket they are immaculate, I have attached pictures. Totally outstanding place. Michael

Went there for a charity quiz night, was really fun, they weren't serving food to order, but did sell drinks and snacks, as well as providing a plate of some warm snacks to share (mini pizzas, chicken drumsticks and chips). A pool table is also available. Absolutely loved the ladies bathroom, the wallpaper is stunning.

Called her on a beautiful day. Wide open vista from garden. Shame we missed lunch or we would have tried food.

We went to the pub for a meal on Saturday 9 march and the landlord said the kitchen was closed. The staff then disputed why. This is the third time that I have tried to get a meal there, without success!

Waiting staff were ok. And that's where they get the one star. Food was an embarrassment. Main part of the dish was tiny and over cooked. Chips are chips, but even those were some how meah, and the salad, wow, old and limp, no dressing with brown leafs. If your a vegetarian, don't bother. What really got me, you had to pre order, and even then, on a limited menu there were items not available. Did I eat it all yes because I was starving, sauce makes even meah chips palitable. This place could be a gem, a real gem. But when you walk in and people are loitering around the bar making it unnecessarily difficult to order a drink, one at a time, you know there is any thought for non locals.

Amazing food! Homemade but so much better :) the roast potatoes are the best I've had, the burgers and chips are fantastic too, they have special chips that look like chisels, makes them crispy and delicious, its a lovely atmosphere, staff are really friendly, it's our new go to place.
