Mains were good but deserts were disappointing

We had a roast on Sunday afternoon which was amazing so decided to go for a mid week meal while on holiday and again amazing food the steak was one of the best I’ve ever had .. lovely staff and Cosy atmosphere… we will be back 😊

Just been down pennycomequick today 29/09/2024 for Sunday lunch as always excellent Sunday lunch I had roast beef 😋 the Mrs had roast pork and it was amazing had a few roasts at pennycomequick now I highly recommend going down there for a roast also make sure you book advance as it will be fully booked. We'll done guys keep up the good work. AMAZING FOOD 😋😊👍👍🤟🤟

Seeing this place online, I thought that it looked great and was really looking forward to going there. However, I didn't enjoy it one bit and couldn't wait to leave. As soon as I walked in, I had no idea where I needed to go for a table I'd reserved. The bar / rastuatant was really hot, even though it was September. When we were finally given a table, it took a while for out drinks order to be taken. Because of the amount of time, we were able to order food at the same time. Food came out very quickly, except that one of the meals was barely Luke warm and needed to be sent back. Food itself tasked good. The mac & cheese was a little too bland. At no point, were we asked if we wanted more drinks, despite 2 out of 3 glasses sitting empty. We left as quickly as we could as the place was so loud.

What a great find👌 We were wandering around Falmouth looking for a good feed and got chatting to some locals, one of who was a chef, and highly recommended this pub. Fantastic welcome, tasty food and beer and great value. Pickled onion rings are particularly yummy. You won't be disappointed 😋

Went for Sunday lunch, had a really nice roast with vegetables. All nicely cooked, very good. Service friendly and didn't have to wait too long. Pub feel but light and airy, and not too busy. Worth a visit, will go again next time I'm in Falmouth.

Food was a bit hit and miss. Everything else was good. I’d probably come back for a drink or a light meal / bar snack. not for a roast.

Amazing quality, value, choice and service. Top quality food at very reasonable prices. Lovely place and firmly on our “must go back on a regular basis” list. Thank you for a great experience. Baked hake was amazing. Marmite butter with bread was lovely and unique.

The food here was very good. My pork belly was really tender and well presented, also at a reasonable price. Service was at the table, and quite attentive, friendly and efficient. It is therefore unfortunate that our evening was marred by some easily avoidable glitches by the staff. Firstly, I ordered the apple crumble dessert, only to be informed 5 minutes later that it was unavailable. Surely the waitress should have known at the time of ordering? My replacement dessert, the cheese board, had far too few crackers for the cheese. Surely crackers must be cheaper than cheese to provide? It became rather wearing to be asked at least four times if we wanted more drinks, even though we still had drinks on the go. One of the waiters was extremely over-zealous in trying to remove my dessert before I had actually finished it. The crackling on the pork belly was nowhere near as crisp as it could have been. And finally, not so easy to sort, but the nearby table of 3 women, with their dog which every few minutes barked or howled really loudly, should have been asked to keep it under better control. So - all in all a fairly good experience, but it could and should have been much better. I wasn’t asked how the meal had been, and so had no obvious opportunity to comment at the time.

Great Sunday lunch, roasties were spot on, meat was lovely and plenty of veggies too. Staff were friendly and dog was welcomed too. Cosy place, would definitely recommend!

Good atmosphere and attractive menu but chicken katsu was poor - a dry chicken escalope in breadcrumbs with a small amount of very mild and not very flavoursome sauce. Not like any katsu I've had before. Underwhelming - particularly for £19.

Lovely friendly staff. The menu was typical pub grub with 3 or 4 specials. We ordered burgers which were tasty and presnted with "proper" chips.

Welcoming pub which was really busy.They have a good range of meals and beers. I ordered hake which they had ran out of so they swapped it for sole instead.That was fine but there was a lot of garlic and chilli on there I like chilli and garlic but it was a bit overpowering! Also no rice or potatoes just broccoli .It could have done with some potatoes or rice to balance the meal out.My partners meal was really good but could have done with a bit more veg as it was a very small selection. It was a bit disappointing, but with a few tweaks could have been so much better.

Absolutely love this pub the staff are amazing. Used to be our favourite place for Sunday roast as the food was always incredible over recent months the roast has changed a lot, portion sizes have greatly reduced and the pork portions Minuscule, beef is very hit and miss with being undercooked some weeks but always Extremely Chewy Making it near on impossible to swallow. The roast potatoes as well seem to have been cooked the day before and warmed up so not very nice. They used to be incredible ! The roast dinners have gone from an incredible 10 out of 10 to now a 2 out of 10. Portion size has halved. Sadly, we will be finding a new venue for our Sunday roast. Very sad and I don’t take pleasure in leaving this review as we do love this place but sadly out of recommendation to return to how the roast dinners used to be have fallen on deaf ears.

Popped in for a half pint of Tribute and a 'half pint' Diet Coke. Was charged £6.80. Saw the Tribute was £2.60 which meant the Coke was £4.20 and it was mostly ice! Won't be going back there again.

Beautiful place to enjoy some drinks

Great choice of food. The chips were a particular highlight and a good choice of beers. Staff were friendly. I will be back to try more of the menu soon!

Whilst struggling to find somewhere dog friendly that did food in the early afternoon we tried the Pennycomequick. We were so glad we found it. Lovely friendly staff, good beer and very nice food. Yet another lovely pub to visit every time we come to Falmouth.

Shocking from start to finish 2 belly pork meals sent back for being stone cold. Reheated in microwave then dried out. Portion more like a starter and at £20 each it's a disgrace, Would never return to this pub

We had hake as fresh as it can be with seasonal veg. Delicious. Decided to stay for the weekly pub quiz and didn't disgrace ourselves, 2 old codgers amongst a pub full of students!!! 🤣

We went for Sunday lunch today and it was great, staff are all friendly and professional and the food is great. If you like a nice meal with normal people then this is it, 10 out of 10 for the penny come quick.

Popped in on the off chance for a Sunday Roast, staff very accommodating and welcoming, I choose the roast beef it was absolutely the best home cooked Sunday roast with huge home made Yorkshire puddings, delicious roast potatoes and various vegetables, my husband had the Pork Belly and Roast beef, we had a side order of cauliflower cheese as well which was gorgeous, if you have not eaten here before I would highly recommend a visit, we were lucky to find a free table but you may be best to book to avoid disappointment, fabulous food give it a try

Really lovely food but most of all amazing service the beautiful lady with the genisis T-shirt and brown long hair, you are very lucky to have a staff member like her repping your business. Will definitely be coming back again

What a wonderful gem of a place!! Warm, welcoming, pretty and cozy atmosphere on a rather rainy day in Falmouth late Feb '24 (next morning lovely and sunny...). The staff are so friendly (met the lovely Gabi and Nestka) and we decided to have some 'bar nibbles'. I have not tasted such delicious nibbles in a pub before...we got the 'pigs in blankets', served with rocket and gravy, and 'belly pork cubes', again, served with rocket and a very tasty dip. Big shout out to the chef Jason!! Would recommend to anyone visiting Falmouth. I'll definitely go again when I'm back, hopefully in April/ May.

Stumbled across whilst in Falmouth. My hotel bar was closed on a Monday so ventured on the into the metropolis of Falmouth. This oub was well well worth a visit and close to bus stop. Food and drinks excellent. Lovely freindly atmosphere, especially for a solo traveller and fantastic bar service! Fish and chips excellent and varnish cheese board great. Proper oints of proper job!

Exceptional Sunday lunch today … super tender belly pork with great crackling and with all the trimmings, crispy roasties, honey roast vegetables, caramelised cabbage and perfect cauliflower cheese. The deserts were delicious too … warm bakewell tart with cherry sorbet and a delicious chocolate torte. Lovely friendly staff and mellow welcoming atmosphere. Gourmet food for a reasonable price.

Amazing pub! The service was great and the food was excellent. The slow cooked pork was delicious, I recommend that one! clean place, efficient service and cozy. Also this may not always be like this, but the music they played was great if you like chill indie rock. Kept going back to Shazam to discover what they were playing.

Had an absolutely delicious meal, staff were fantastic and the options were brilliant! Lots of vegan options too! Definitely keep an eye out for the bar snacks they are fab! Such a wonderful pub atmosphere, we need to go back for the Sunday roast!

The service was very good and the staff were very attentive, unfortunately the roast wasn't brilliant the meat - Pork belly was very fatty and hardly any actual meat in the portion, the staff did try and correct this and I understand pork belly is a fatty meat. But the roast wasn't the best especially for the cost of it. Not in a hurry to come back for another one.

Arrived 5 minutes late (called ahead to inform them this) - upon arriving they made clear to us that they were annoyed - especially the lady who runs it who actively ignored us - took 20 mins for anyone to come to table Food was very average - parts of my roast were cold - particularly the stuffing Would not recommend

Auffallend engagiertes Personal, sehr bemüht und motiviert. Hat etwas von einer Studentenkneipe. Auch wenn es sich hier um einen klassischen englischen Pub handelt, findet man hier schinkengerichte, verschiedene Salate etc. was dem individuellen Geschmack mehr Auswahl gibt. Sicherheitshalber reservieren; mal ist es total voll und dann wieder halb leer.

Nice pub in the middle of Falmouth with nice food and service.

I have to say this was probably the most dissapointing roast dinner I've ever had. I ended up ordering the pork as the beef had ran out and was unpleasantly suprised when i saw a lump of fatty pork accompanied with 3 roast potatoes and 2 carrots to share between 2 people. I cant say i was impressed for paying £18.50 for it and it was a trip to spoons to get some proper dinner for a fraction of the price.

Popped in here for a late lunch on the off chance whilst visiting Falmouth. The young girl, Neska, who served us was so friendly and welcoming from the minute we walked in to the minute we left. Service is hard to come by and she was a gem! We ordered a burger to share and wow! The burger was so tasty, made with local produce, great flavors and the chips were the best me and my partner have had. You can tell the chef takes pride in what he is serving, great traditional pub food but with the flavor and service that many lack nowadays! Thank you!

Was accommodated last minute during the current tourist season and every staff member was friendly, and helpful. But the best part was the food which was perfect, best burger I have tasted for ages.

£8.90 for 1 and a half pints of nothing special is more expensive than I've paid lately in the West end . Much better value to be had locally
