We stayed a couple of doors down from this bakery and visited for breakfast on our last day. All six of us agreed that it was superb. Quality ingredients, cooked to perfection with no grease at all and really reasonably priced too. You need to book as it’s get busy and it’s a small venue but we will definitely go back. The staff were also super helpful and the service was great.

Firstly, these are amazing pizzas! The right amount of topping, lovely fresh dough, and about the right price. The only mark I will give against is that you need to be on it with booking! It’s very limited availability. An online booking system would be very helpful

Was staying near the area and came across this lovely little bakery, the sourdough brown bread was still warm when we brought it and was delicious, saw the sign for takeaway pizza on a Monday evening so ordered while in there to collect Monday evening, it didn’t disappoint and was one of the best pizza I’ve tried in a while. Easy to order & was ready for me to collect at my chosen time. I can imagine in the busier months they sell out quite quick.

What a lovely quaint cafe! We stopped to get a takeaway as we walked past and as we were waiting it started to rain. We asked to change our minds and sit inside and the excellent staff/owner said they’d more than welcome us. Beautiful bread used for our breakfast sandwiches that was freshly made that morning and meat that was lovely. Couldn’t recommend this place more.

There are not many true "artisan" establishments where all the bread and pastries for sale have been freshly made by the owner every day. I can't begin to imagine the effort that must go in to do this day after day every holiday season as well as providing a wholesome breakfast selection. On top of that great coffee and a lovely historic environment. One not to miss.

We loved this little cakery which does pastries, croissants and drinks to go as well as breakfast every morning except Thursday. They offer a pizza service to takeaway 3 nights per week but be sure to order at least a day in advance as they book up quickly. In August they don’t provide bread for sale as they are so busy with breakfasts and need the bread they make for this. We had breakfast a couple of times during our week’s stay, everything was lovely and freshly made. Would recommend to everyone

We stayed in Cawsand (well worth a visit) for a few days in Mid - September. We had planned a good walk to Mount Edgcumbe and decided on a good breakfast, there was a reasonable choice but we choose the Old Bakery as that was the earliest one to open. The Café is very clean and welcoming, and just as we arrived so did the morning swimmers fresh from their dip in the sea, (this justified our choice as it was endorsed by the locals). I had a full English and my wife had her own off piste concoction - both of really enjoyed it and the coffee was wonderful. Not only was it a lovely atmosphere the food and service was top notch.

Three of us went in for a coffee and snack at lunchtime last Sunday. Told that white crab meat sandwiches were not available but those with mixed crab meat were so we took a chance and ordered two rounds. These turned out to be nothing more than a sliver of predominantly brown crab meat, the white being conspicuous by its absence, very thinly spread between two rounds of thick sourdough bread. The almost complete absence of any crabmeat rendered them almost tasteless added to which we were charged £10.50p for each so called "sandwich". As Cornish natives and residents for many years, in our travels around this wonderful County we have enjoyed many well filled genuine white crab meat sandwiches in various locations at prices greatly below the exorbitant price charged by The Old Bakery. An absolute ripoff.

Just how much rudeness, arrogance and patronising should be accepted from the owner because he can bake? Due to poor staff training, my purchase of a loaf was not recorded leading to embarrassment when someone collected it for me and was asked to pay. When I called in the next day, I was told I definitely hadn’t paid. On checking and finding I had paid, during which process the surly owner was rude and patronising, no apology was made for the mistake. What a shame because the food and baked goods are delicious. Is it the price to pay for genius? Am I being petty minded? Should you pass on the experience? No. But the owner would certainly benefit from a spell at a Swiss finishing school.

The room (top floor) was spacious and the bed very comfortable with en-suite shower that was a great addition too. Breakfast was excellent - over the three days we tried different breakfasts (the mushrooms on toast was to die for!) and on our last morning settled for just yoghurt but Chris kindly made and wrapped up two sausage baps for us to have later on our journey. We loved that breakfast was anytime up to midday (sometimes you just need an extra hour or two in bed when you’re holidaying!). And the daily hand made sourdough bread was divine! Visited this café after getting off the first Cawsand Ferry of the day. It was the only café in the village that was open. The café itself is nicely decorated but the welcome was limp. We waited to be seated nothing happened so seated ourselves. No menu on the table. We weren't sure if the menu would be brought to us, it wasn't, so after a while we took one off another table. Sourdough is obviously a great passion for the owner or cook, and it was very difficult to find anything on the breakfast menu that didn't have sourdough in it. We were hungry and noticed the café did a full English Breakfast so presumed we would easily be able to get scrambled eggs on toast. We asked for this and wewere told that it was not possible, so we had to choose between boiled or poached eggs. Didn't realise it was so difficult to make scrambled eggs! However, the poached eggs were nice.

Friends had recommended The Old Bakery so off we trotted. We made a special effort to go as were actually planning to go to Cawsand but we drove round so that we could get some nice coffee before we got the beach. We went straight up to the counter to order takeaway coffee. There was an older man (presumably the owner) working the coffee machine and a couple of young ladies waitressing. We were ordering directly with the man and to put it simply, we were given the sort of welcome you give to a fart in a lift. He may as well have said: “I don’t want you in here”. I also noticed that the waitresses didn’t seem very happy. This man was giving off a really negative energy. It’s such a shame because I could see that the cafe is lovely. Nicely decorated and seemingly happy customers (probably because they didn’t have to communicate with the owner). I am a kind person, I’m willing to give people the benefit of the doubt. We all have bad days and we all have our personal lives to our to put to one side when we’re at work. However, this man was rude, unprofessional and it would take a lot for us to go back. Big shame.

Lovely Place! Great breakfasts, super home made soups, fantastic home-made bread, good quality coffee! From the outside The Old Bakery looks most unassuming but don't be put off because here you will find comfort, warmth and a welcome from a family run place and run with enthusiasm. We stopped by for a simple bowl of soup but looked enviously as the other food, particularly the breakfasts came out to other customers. The place is perfect for families with young children looking for a relaxed easy place to stop off if visiting or walking around this beautiful little village.town. Go there with confidence and you will be met with a welcome, friendship and good food carefully and lovingly prepared.

Stayed at the Old Bakery B&B; and took advantage of the breakfast included in our stay. (B&B; is excellent - separate review)

Chris and Liz Gunn have run this café/restaurant for quite a few years. Consistently very high quality food and super service. More particularly they run one day bread making courses which are outstanding. Excellent pace, busy, interesting - and a very satisfying end product.

This is a fantastic little café with some staples on the menu but also some things which are a little different.

Found this delightful upstairs cafe by chance and had some of the best vegetarian food for a long time. We were made very welcome and chose the hummus bowl and roasted veg toasted sandwich. Both were excellent and very filling.

I've only ever called in for a beer but no complaints so far and staff are nice too. There's a big beer garden which is very useful for the kids and dogs.

The ice creams here are beautiful! Really generous portions and are very well presented. The customer service we received was outstanding, my daughter had a massive meltdown (ASD) and they were nothing but supportive, understanding and helpful. We'd had a very tough day today with meltdowns galore and this one was by far the worst of the day yet I never felt alone or judged. People like you make the biggest difference and I am so very grateful for you going out of your way to help and care. Thank you x
